"That's impossible. He's dead. The AA killed him after he rescued an entire squad!" Tears began to roll down Shaun's face.

"oh my bad i meant was. Yeah i heard what he did and i think that was noble of him," she said.

Sam listened to the conversation. He wondered if Kaci was telling the truth about her old boss being dead... or if she'd just said that to make Shaun feel better. "Hey, don't get worked up now." He told the man. "You're going to have to save your energy. Look, we're already here." He put his truck in park as the cabin sat in front of them.

"I think you're the first AA to call my father noble" Shaun said.

"i am just telling the truth. While i do think we AA's deserve independence, i do call bravery when i see it" she said.

"Thank you for that" Shaun slowly made his way into the cabin.

KAci walked at his side prepared incase he needed help.

Sam walked at his other side, supporting him the best he could. The door was unlocked. The cabin was cozy and there was a big couch by a large, stone fireplace. "Take him over there, would you?" He told Kaci. "I'll get some blankets."

Shaun laid on the couch. It felt good to be indoors.

Kaci sat beside him on the couch beside him. It felt good in the little place.

Sam brought some blankets over from the closet and put them on Shaun. "This should warm you up."

"Thank you for your hospitality" Shaun said.

"Haha, don't worry about it." Sam said with a grin. "This isn't even my cabin. It's just a lodge for hunters every other weekend."

Shaun could feel himself warming up. There wasn't much life on Artica to hunt, but the animals that were there were extremly dangerous.

"I'll make us a fire to warm the place up some." He said, going to the door, the firewood being in a stack outside. "Keep and eye on Shaun would you, Kaci?" He left out the door, closing it behind him before the icy cold wind could get in.

"sure," she said to him before he left. "So how long have you been an ice miner," she asked Shaun.

"For the past five years. It's tough, but it pays well"

"cool. i have been a watcher since i could fight. It pays well too." she said.

Shaun cold not ignore the obvious tension in the room. "So tell me, why did you join the AA?"

"cause i like the cold and i like it here. I think they have a right to want indepenendence but i don't agree that fighting is the solution," she siad.

"I understand. I honestly have no problem with Artica being independent. But the UNSC wants to maintane a presence of power"

"and i understand that. its just some people might take it in a way that they think the UNSC thinks we cant take care of ourselves and that they only want control," she said.

"Thats why I became an ice miner. The UNSC wanted to use me as a poster boy, but I just wanted to do honest work"

"you sound just like him," she said with a small smile.

Shaun smiled back. "Thanks. I get that alot"
