Aww!! :( That's awful! I hate when that happens. I lost a lot of my files once when there was a bad storm and the electricity short circuited or something and my PC was plugged into the "wrong" jack and after the storm, my computer stopped working. :(

I am the same way! I usually have a scene in my head, but I don't know how to get my characters to go from point A to point B. :( I wish I had the patience to write out the whole story before posting it on FF.net! But I get so excited and proud of the thing I wrote, then I post it. Whether or not I get any feedback, I usually tend to forget where I wanted the characters to go so I don't finish the WIP. XD

OH! I loved FarmVille! :D
I think Stardew Valley sounds like a great game!!

Yeah, though I also feel rather self-hating because it was a good computer yet I ruined it...my new laptop isn't as good IMO, despite it being new.

That's why I mostly stick to short one-shots because they're usually only of a particular scene so I can end it quickly without trying to get from point A to B I've only finished like, less than ten fics in all my years of random writing. I usually stop writing because I don't know how to bridge the scenes or just run out of inspiration.

Yeah, it has really great reviews and all! I got the recommendation when I saw a tumblr post of it and really liked the style and appearance of the game, so I got it on one of those discount days and haven't stopped playing since.

Ah, I can understand that feeling! :( It sucks when you mess up an electronic and replace it with something worse. One time, I dropped my phone in the toilet and I got insurance to replace it.. but they gave me a refurbished phone. It was awful! The screen kept flickering, it was discolored and eventually I dropped it.. (ON CARPET) and the screen went black and never turned on again. >:(

I agree! I like writing one-shots, but I have to be SUPER inspired or at least have a good idea to write. :( I've only finished maybe... 4 or 5 of my stories. I've had one that I wrote like two chapter every day for about a month. I think I made it to 70 or 80 pages of story... It was a Pokemon fan fiction, but it really didn't go anywhere. It was about Team Rocket. It was fun, but basically the characters went from dilly-dallying to being in a jam, to getting out of the jam, then back to dilly-dallying. >3<

Is it a PC game? Or do you need a console? :)
I wish I had the extra time to be a gamer. :( There are so many interesting games out there that I want to play!

Yeah, I feel guilty because poor laptop. The new one functions, but some of the keys are squeaky whenever I press them and I'm missing the 'End' key (it's been replaced by the on/off key for some reason...) and I keep feeling like it's running even slower than my previous laptop.

lol! That sounds like fun! A lot of mine are also daydreams that I never write out because of how gary stu the characters are. It's more like a self-indulgence where I can just skip over the details I don't want to think about and just go on the good bits. Writing them out is a lot more difficult and because it highlights the gary stu-ness so I feel guilty about it. I've only managed a few that aren't overly gary-stu and I'm just like ugh why do I like making these characters overly powerful when they're awful awful people

It's a PC game, I don't use consoles myself
Yeah, it's hard when I had work and I had overtime every single day. It didn't leave a lot of time to myself and I just kept itching to play my games On weekends I tend to sleep away half the day but at least I still have a few hours to game. I don't know how I'd do that if I had a family of my own. Maybe if my other half were a gamer too we could share hobbies during the weekends or something...

Ooh! You've changed again! :D

Aw, man! That sucks. :( I don't know what the "end" key does. :o I didn't know there was an "end" key until I looked at my own keyboard. Haha. That's the worst! :( Do you think it could be your internet connection is slow, maybe? I had issues with my old laptop because my wifi connection was so bad. It's better out here, but still not the greatest. Even my PC with a USB Wifi thingy cuts in and out often. >:(

Yeah! It's definitely easy to fall into the Mary Sue/Gary Stu characters. I like to believe that on the rare moment that I use an OC that they are not one dimensional or stereotypical. :( I usually get too scared of my characters being too Gary Stu that I don't even use OCs in my fanfiction. I will even try to make an AU so I *don't* have to use an OC. XD

OHH! I'm definitely going to check it out, then! :D I have to get a better PC first, though! I am still using Windows 7.

I think in today's society, someone can call just about ANY OC a common trope.
But so long as YOU like your character, it doesn't matter.

My Daven has quite a few "tropes" to him, but he's mine and thus unique in his own way.
Just as you, Antagonist, and I are entirely unique.

Yeah, I have a problem with changing I just keep changing and changing and can't seem to be able to stick to one for long.

The end key skips from the top of the page to the very bottom, and the home key does the opposite. It's pretty handy when I click on a thread with a lot of posts or want to skip from the top of a fic to the comment area to the very bottom. I don't know what ASUS was thinking, moving the on/off key from where it was just fine to replacing the end key with it...

It's probably not my internet connection since it's the same as the one I used for my old laptop, so it must be something the new one is doing. The new laptop also heats up more quickly than the old one and makes odd noises at times that the old laptop doesn't do.

I try to stick to canon characters if I'm writing a fic, and indulge myself with OCs when it's just in my head. Sometimes I just want to write it all out though, and then after I finish writing I proceed to read back and cringe.

...Goddamn it it hurts that I lost all my works and work-in-processes when I lost my laptop. I've been trying not to think about it because I just want to mangle something when I think about it. All those years of work and my other save files...

Thanks I wish I could do them justice by not making them seem like the world revolves around them though, since I like to think they're a bit more three-dimensional than that. I'm not a very good writer so it just looks like a lot of rambling most of the time.

@Nightmare

That makes sense! You're so sweet, Nightmare, you always know what to say!

@Antagonist

Change can be good, though! :D It's nice to have variety in life.

Ohh, I see. :o I've never noticed the "end" key before. :O I don't have one on my laptop, but I saw there was one on my PC. I'm totally going to check it out after I send this! :P

Oh no! D: My old laptop used to make weird noises... I always thought it was possessed! Dx I had a friend look into it for me, but nothing helped. :'( I hope that you can get your new laptop fixed! Oh! Also, if it's getting overheated too quickly, I think you can buy a laptop fan that goes under the laptop and keeps it from overheating. :)

I'm sorry you lost all your files. :'( That's the worst! I hope that you can make new files though, some that you. are super proud of! I don't know why, but I feel like my OCs are not as great as canon characters. :( But I've been slowly trying to break out of my comfort zone and write some OCs occasionally.

Yeah but it's like I don't even like what I changed into, but I still keep changing outfits anyway! ;; I change something like every day or every two days it seems. Sometimes even within hours.

lol Have fun with the keys!

I think it's not that anything's broken, it's just how it's made and it's not as good as the old laptop. The Space key is still squeaky even after all this time using it. Ugh.

My OCs are usually just over-powered people doing what they want in the canon world Not much depth to them unfortunately.
I miss my files. Like, I probably won't ever finish nor post them and they'll just sit there, but I want to be able to read back on them in the future and just know what I had been thinking in the past, you know? So it really sucks they're all gone...not to mention my mod collection and all the pictures I've saved over the years...sigh.

You look like The Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland! :D

Ah. I see! Unfortunately I feel like most of the cheaper/lesser known computers are like that. :( Just poorly made. D: I used to have a Lenovo and it was shit. It was my first laptop. My parents bought it for me when I was in middle school. We knew it was shit right away when it started to make these crazy sounds and it wouldn't process things correctly. >:( But I bought a macbook recently and there are no issues at all. :O

Ohh. I say, write your OCs the way you want them to be, because after all, they are there to make you happy! :D I think my only OCs right now are either RP characters... or the one character that I wrote into an Avengers fanfic. She didn't really serve a purpose other than to show another character's humanity.

I feel you on that. :(
It's like losing a part of your life when you lose files like that. :( I wrote a chapter of a pretty "good" fanfic once, and it got lost on my old PC. >:( I feel like that time period in my life was full of so much creativity... now that I am older, it's been harder to be "Creative" >:(

You're the second person to say that! I actually just went for something fairy-like and Alice in Wonderland hadn't even been close to my mind! Do you mean this guy?

I've always stuck with using ASUS computers, so both my last one and my current one are ASUS, but for some reason the current one just isn't as good as the last one.

True, for self-indulgence purposes. Not so great when it comes to posting them on the Internet for others to read though I usually stick with canon characters for the ones I do post.

Ugh, so true. I wrote so much stuff as a kid and I'd read back on it and despite the crappy writing I miss how I was able to just come up with so many ideas. My brain feels stiff these days. I miss my digital writings, even though the story's not great.

Yes! That's exactly him! :D

I've never used ASUS, but I guess there is a reason why I've only heard of it and not actually used it. :(

Yes! I usually try to write stuff that makes me happy! Though, that usually means that my OCs stay hidden! :O

YES! That's exactly the way it feels! I found my old 2007 Fanfiction.net account and it was so crazy reading my stories. I was so imaginative even though my grammar and general writing sucked.

ASUS isn't too bad usually, I think my cellphone is also ASUS though that hadn't been intentional. I guess this particular computer was made flawed or something; the squeaky space bar can be super annoying.

Poor OCs, never to see the light of day except within the owner's occasional indulgences!

Mine was me finding my old notebooks filled with my scribbles; the writing was horrible (as in, the way the characters acted and all) but the plot was a trip to read through. I kept thinking, "did I seriously come up with all this, what the hell had I been thinking"

And my fiance has a ASUS casual laptop for browsing when not on his desktop.

We mostly stick with ASUS because the official ASUS office for fixing problems is nearest to our house compared to the other companies so it's easier for us to find them if anything goes wrong with our products.

I've heard that ASUS is the best for gaming? Is that true? I've seen several ASUS gaming computers at Best Buy. :O

@Antagonist
I used to have a few notebooks full of "comics" that I drew. xD I used to have a great imagination... Despite the fact that most of my "comics" were... pornographic. It's embarrassing to look at them now. I don't know why I drew stuff like that when I was so little. :( But most of my old stuff, I threw out. I don't want to be reminded of it. xD

Really? I didn't know about that. I see lots of different computers from various brands all said to be suited for professional gaming.

lol! I remember drawing tons of comics back in high school with a friend, we'd spend the entire day of classes just furiously doodling. Mine weren't pornographic but it was super random. And super embarrassing. I'm not sure where they all went but I supposedly kept it.
