Who said having another roleplay was a bad idea?

This is an AU for our characters in We're all architects of our own private hell. The setting will be futuristic (yay, cell phones and flying ships!) and set in college. The kicker, it's not just any college. It's the IGCTA, Intergalactic College of Technology and Arts!

The character's are 24 (Saith), 23 (Kev), 19 (Cain), 18 (Marwo), 21 (Mae), and 20 (unknown since she hasn't been introduced yet). Up until now, none of them have run into each other but things all start to change when rumors ripple across the campus. Something about a first-ever, mandatory formal ball?! Obviously there's a reason to enforce such a rule but what that reason is falls to blind eyes and deaf ears.

Regardless, this story is just for fun! We're both stressed individuals these days and we needed something painless, full of laughs, and totally insane. Nothing will make sense, but that's okay!

There wasn't a single soul whose opinion she'd be concerned about that would deny that Mae is a responsible, thoughtful and talented individual. In tiny jackets, pencil skirts and crisp, white shirts she had battled and fought her way into student council on her first year of attendance to IGCTA and now she was the president of it. Many wondered how she managed to juggle all her duties and still ace each and every of her class, but she did. But perhaps it explained why tumbleweed were blown through her personal life. Of course, on outside she had many acquaintances, every day she talked with plenty of people, but the truth was: she didn't have any real friends. What's worse, she didn't have a boyfriend.

It wasn't that guys around the university wouldn't be interested in the pointy-eared woman whose hair shone like sun and eyes could freeze anyone with their glare or melt them with smile sparkles. Still, no matter their attempts, she had remained uninterested and thoroughly single which on anyone else would be a mark of shame. And normally, she wouldn't care, but this formal ball... She didn't have anyone to go with!! Her last hope, the 'ultimate geek' of the student council had somehow managed to snag up a date for himself just today. It would be unacceptable for her, as the president, to go alone or not attend! Already, people were starting to rumor and smirk, and the boys, for to call them men would be too much of praise, were doubling their stupid efforts and feeling arrogant that she'd eventually have to accept one of them.

Frustrated, she paced around the beautiful greenhouse which was her place to come and think. Often, she sketched here, drawing inspiration from the nature. Here, all sorts of plants and even critters grew and flourished, representing many planets. But right now, even this gave her little comfort as she obviously couldn't go and dance with a tree at the formal ball. Or could she??

Amusingly enough, one of the ladies that was known for twisting many men around her fingers with blood red (like her hair) nails was having similar issue. Who could she have that would be interesting and entertaining enough? In this one year here she had already realized that most attendants, despite many different origins, were boring as f**k. Sitting on the window sill in one of the corridors and doodling morbid nonsense in her notebook, Marwolaeth felt absolutely irritated and that was a dangerous state. Not for her, but for others. Perhaps there was a reason she was rumored to be a vampire...

With frustrated growl, she stood up and dusted invisible particles off of her tight leather pants, tossing the notebook into her satchel thrown over shoulder and stalked off the corridor in a search for victim entertainment.

This probably wasn't his smartest idea. Stratch that, it was undoubtably his dumbest idea. This close to graduation and he could blow it? Ha, he laughed at the idea! He was known for his sauve tongue and smooth moves. If anyone could crawl their way out of suspection, it would be him, Saith Kimitore, twenty-four.

He had come to make a name for himself. It wasn't that he wanted to... it just, more or less, happened. He was an easy mark to make too for not many students stood over six-feet tall, had ghostly white hair, and piercing blue eyes. But that wasn't what made him stand out. It was all those things and knowing that his skin was as deep a gray as a near-black chalkboard. Odd as it was, the IGCTA didn't have many of his color and creed in attendance here. Not to sound stereotypical or racist, but men of his kind rarely sought an education. Why learn when you can simply... well, steal?

Sprinting across the quarter-mile (the name of the daunting path that lead from dorms to academic side), he dove into a building, hoping to escape the enraged eyes of the men he dared go toe-to-toe with. As they threw out provocative terms and slurs, he rolled his eyes at their upruleness. And these kids were supposed to be the face of the school? Ha! As if, they were nothing but pigs in suits.

Sneaking his way down a hallway, he soon found himself in what looked like the science building. Grin on face, he stopped for a moment to relieve the memories of this palce. It was were all his freshman year classes were -- a time in his life were he was very popular, especially with the ladies.

Not wanting to waste another second, he scooted down the hall and did some insane zig-zagging patterns to deter the jocks that tried to catch him. The good thing about football players was that they were short distance sprinters. They never could run the long-haul since their game constantly stopped for this, that, or the other thing!

In a foreign section of... was he in the science building, he crept into what looked like a very quiet room. He hated the idea of tip-toeing but...

No, why run? This place was magical! Eyes wide with wonder, he gazed around to see what looked like an indoors outdoors. Head cocking to the side, he reached to pluck a leaf from the tree before him. It seemed like not a soul dwelled here, making it the perfect hideaway place until he was either paged or left alone.

Blue orbs wide with wonder, he slowly spun around the room, stopping just once to stop at the fish pond. In fact, he was so drawn in by the fish that he took perch on the rock beside it, deciding he would spend the next hour here.

Or at least that was his plan. And it quickly changed when he heard someone shuffle? Breathe? Blink? Whatever! Someone was there.

Eyes narrowing and flickering red beneath the hood he jerked up over his head, he scanned the room for the motion-maker.

"Listen, I'm not here to cause any harm. I just need a place to lay low. Never been here before so I figured this is as safe as I can get." Hood off and eyes blue again, he found and stick and coyly poked the water. "If that's a problem, I'm afraid you're just going to have to deal with it."

___

I'll post with Kev and Cain later. But for now I just wanna stick to Saith since he's the cool dude. xD

Just as Mae was considering all the possible technical methods for creating artificial dance partner, someone entered the greenhouse. She had a sharp hearing, a natural gift and sometimes a curse due to the incredible noise the students could produce when pushed together in a smaller space, and immediately froze. It wasn't that she wasn't allowed to be here - in fact, she was, but hardly anyone else was! Young woman listened as the person moved about before heading in the sound's direction. After all, she had responsibility to keep all in order and safe.

Apparently the other was also with good ears and immediately reacted. And how! Immediately, blonde frowned and emerged from the cover of thick leaves, stopping to look at intruder, one hand perched on her hip. "If you are in trouble, you should talk with a teacher or one of the student council members instead of sneaking in areas where you are not permitted at this hour." She had authoritative tone that clearly said she wasn't the one to 'deal with it'.

He was... Familiar. She had seen this man around the University and as she stared at him, more details were coming back to her mind. He was a trouble maker, always getting up in someone's business or in a fight (or both). His dark skin was exotic and attractive for who knows what reasons to many girls and so he thought himself the most attractive fellow that could get away with anything. Saith... Saith something was his name. Their paths had not crossed so directly before. After all, they came from two different worlds, at least University-life wise. "This can only get you in more trouble," she finished, matter of factly.

That he had not ever been here before did not add any bonuses to him in her book either. It wasn't that she was actually prejudiced... Well, fine, she was a little. Or maybe more. At least to him, right now. He had disturbed her honest brooding time and never even known about this little corner of paradise that any normal person with love for nature should!

"Uh," he paused to gaze up at the woman, "huh." With a smirk, he easily recalled who he was. "Since I'm not causing any harm -- nor should I get in trouble for what I previously did -- why don't we just keep this a secret." He seemed to ease back into his perch some, acting as if he knew she would let him stay. To admit that she let a scoundrel like himself enter such a holy area, why he was sure to mar her name and say she showed it to him. Ah, yes, the lies he could twist in his favor!

Still, there was something almost sad about the woman before him. He couldn't quite pick at it, but that didn't matter. He had more pressing questions to ask.

"So since you're alone and don't have your adoring fans all around, who's brilliant idea was it to have this stupid, required dance? Nearly graduated and I have to attend a dance or I get kicked out of school...." With a growl, he rolled back onto the rock and gazed up at the woman. Of course, it was fleeting for he realized the angle he was at meant easy access to--

"Ah, I'm sorry," his cheeks flushed red. "I... uh... er...." He ran a hand threw his hair and adverted his eyes. "Sorry," he whispered again under his breath. He was honestly just thankful he hadn't seen anything other than her ankles.

Almost pouting, he shifted forward to rest his chin on his elbows, which were crossed over his knees. "Sooooo..." he looked at her reflection in the water, "why are you here? Do you take care of the plants?"

Her eyes narrowed at his suggestion and she immediately objected. "Students are not allowed here without student council's or teacher's supervision because there are some poisonous and potentially dangerous critters and plants--" she paused then, frown growing deeper as corners of her mouth, usually kept in neutral way, dropped. "And since I am here, you are not going anywhere are you," young woman added, now having realized she talked herself right into this. It had been a while since someone opposed her, she was used that everyone did as she said after her first hint, so the thought her words could be used against her hadn't occurred to Lacrimae.

"Fine, you can stay here until I leave, but when I am going, you are too," she decided to be merciful, although rather unwillingly, and turned to go about her business (if staring at trees and being angry could be called one) when he spoke up once more. Mae shrugged elegantly, "if you have any questions concerning university activities, you can ask them any time," she told him, ignoring the comment about adoring fans. "As for the ball, the principal tasked the council with arranging and advertising it, but it was not our idea. Rather strange considering this has not happened before and the principal rarely ever does anything..." There was a note of bitterness in her tone for some reason, but she clearly wasn't going to explain it.

Mae turned around, about to disappear in the jungle again when she caught his gaze and slight flush of awkwardness entered her cheeks. Smoothing down the light green jacket she tried to keep her forehead into making even deeper frown (no reason to get wrinkles over this butt). "This is a good place to think," she replied curtly, not going into greater details that she indeed did sometimes help the greenhouse tenders and often brought snacks (although it was against rules) to the local inhabitants. In fact, she had few now in her small bag that she had completely forgotten about in her sour mood. Again, she turned to leave, not interested to be oggled or endlessly question by this man.

Once the woman, er Student Council President, learned that she walked her way right into Saith's trap, he could only grin. Though he was thankful that she agreed to letting him stay here. Maybe she wasn't that bad.

Oh, no. She was worse. Definitely worse, he had to remind himself.

As she brushed off the near-panty-fiasco, he turned his attention back to the fish. Noting her lack of enthusiasm with his questioning, he figured maybe he should try another approach. Namely, he wanted to know if the fish he kept poking was going to maul him whole.

"You mentioned poisonous creatures and flora? Is this guy problematic?" He almost sounded like a kid when he said that. His eyes were large and his ears were drooped in a very nonthreatening way. If this fish was lethal, he would likely have his heart broken from the way he was acting.

---------- Post added 05-01-2015 at 05:54 PM ----------

The world seemed to pause as he gazed ceaselessly at the mutli-legged thing before his eyes. Dangerously close to it, some of the kids behind him called him a freak. A weirdo! Heeding them not an ounce of attention, he continued to feast his gaze upon the large, greenish eyes of the insect before him. It was just so fascinating! He needed to collect it and bring it back to his room (he had a collection of bugs for some odd reason). Swooping it with a cup, he was just about to cap on the lid when someone rudely bumped into him. Laughter erupted around him. "Something funny," he growled. As he growled, the sky seemed to rumble, causing the pranksters to think twice before messing with pinky again.

Bug gone, he pouted. "Awww, he's gone." Lips pursed, he sighed before bending to pick up what looked like a tiger-fox. Despite being 19 years old, the man refused to go anywhere without his stuffed animal. All marveled at its pristine condition. And yet, on the flip side of that coin, they all questioned his manliness. Hell, they questioned his age too!

Sulking the rest of the way back toward dorm side, the pink haired man by the name of Cain swung a hard left and made a helpless shuffle toward the dining hall. "I wonder what they have today for a special, mate," he spoke to the stuffed animal. "Hopefully it's Earth cuisine today. I'm really getting sick of these non-earth foods!"

Flashing his card, he paid to get into the dinning hall. Most freshmen at here but it didn't phase Cain nonetheless. This place was a plethora of food for a rather low fee. Sure it was unhealthy but that's what made it awesome!

As he trundled around, he came to a dead halt when his eyes spied upon a holy goodness of his mother planet.

"Spaghetti," he said whilst licking his lips. "Thank god," he breathed while stepping into line.

Today. Today was going to end on a deliciously good note!

For a brief moment, there was something in her eyes that could only be considered mischievous. Mae considered telling him that, yes the fishes were able of growing size and tearing his head off, just to see his reaction, but then the serious student council president side won over. As it always did. "Of course they are not, although if you poke anyone with stick long enough they might grow teeth," she told him in slightly haughty tone.

After short consideration, she moved over to the opposite edge of the pond from Saith, standing so her reflection remained 'decent' and pulled out a tiny paper-like bag from her satchel. Carefully she took few pinches of what could be bread crumbs but were probably some kind of processed meat and dropped it in the water where the fishes quickly swam up and greedily devoured every bit of it. Mae's expression softened slightly at this as she continued to feed the fishes, but from the other hand, she was rather blatantly ignoring the man so maybe she hadn't softened up that much at all...

---------- Post added 05-02-2015 at 01:03 AM ----------

Many questioned just what the strange girl with lace on - in - her face ate as she was not often seen in the dinning hall, but this evening she decided to grace it with her presence. Entering with a grand gesture of flinging doors open and then letting them fall behind her with crash (their fault for not making them automatic sliding ones like in any civilized place), she slid her gaze over at the present people and the food. Her nose wrinkled delicately at most of the smells and sights. Alien cuisine was weird to her, to say the least.

Swaying over in the manner that could be called sexy, but not over the top, she walked to join the line behind someone with obnoxiously pink hair and... was that stuffed animal? She barely could contain a laugh, hell, she couldn't help but snort slightly in not the most dignified manner. By clothes it appeared to be a very short him, too. Oh whatever was happening to this University! The sooner she got her steak the better. Tapping pinkie's shoulder, she put on a sly grin, "care to let the lady go first?" If he refused... Well, she'd still go before him.

"I'm fishing," he said in a tone to match her own. Of course, the devilish grin on his face completely undermined his snappy tone. If anything, it seemed to give him more of a personality. Perhaps the troublesome, ruffian could be a charming, funny guy -- if given a chance.

Nah, why would Mae ever think that?

When she vanished for a bit, Saith took this as his cue to be silent and just continued his 'fishing.' However, when her reflection reappeared, he almost shot her a smile. Almost.

If he wanted to win her over, he could have. But there was no need. He had no interest in this woman. She wasn't his type so why waste energy on something (er, someone) he didn't want.

"You're a... second year?" He was taking a stab at it. He honestly had no idea of her status. Maybe third year? Either way, it wasn't ideal to shout across the pond (he didn't want to scare the fishies!). Standing, he went to make his move over to her when he realized he severely underestimated something. The location of his foot. More importantly, the location of his feet in relation to that stick he was using.

Before he could do anything, he was spitting water from his mouth and dealing with a flopping fish atop his matted mess of white hair. A dumbfounded look plastered all over his face, he slowly swiveled his head toward the woman. "Please tell me I won't die now." His face was sheer panic. Granted, the fish atop his head hardly made him worth taking seriously.

---------- Post added 05-01-2015 at 06:09 PM ----------

First a snort and then a tap on the shoulder? Cain raised a brow but decided to dismiss it. That was until she asked to go in front of him. "A lady... huh, could have fooled me." He looked at his place in line, literally in front of the counter, to where she stood. She couldn't wait one second? Heh, he would teach her.

Holding up a finger, as if to cut her off, he turned to the counter. "Spaghetti please, mate." A heaping of the sauce-covered noodles flopped on the plate before him. "Thanks," he said while turning around.

If she tried to use any magic on him, he would simply brush it off. If she tried to speak, he would tune her out. At least, until now. "You were saying?" he looked Marwo straight in the eyes before, oh so smoothly, dumping the plate on her.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Does my short stature, hair of choice, and preference in partners bother you?"

Without a smirk, without a snort, without anything, he turned back to the server. "I'm going to need more spaghetti, mate. This thing stole my plate and insisted on covering herself with it. You know, to match her tattoo."

Oh, so he thought he could run his mouth with her. Expression not changing, except for new malicious gleam in her eyes, she moved to cut in front of him, but for a change, her opponent was faster. And what happened next did take Marwolaeth by surprise. Not only he dared to oppose her, he actually dumped his food on her, this disgusting mass of wriggling macar-whatever and red sauce! Marwo's blood literally began seething with need to wrangle his scrawny neck or at least make him writhe on floor in pain, but she managed to keep her cool.

"Preference in partners? Too much information, mate, although considering your food choices..." she trailed off with a shrug, seemingly unphased by the food on her clothes (although this was her favorite shirt, artfully mixed lace and smooth, silky fabric revealing just enough to keep watcher interested). Her hand slid in her pocket, flicking a tiny switch on a small notebook sized item. Usually, she used it to steal data pads and various things with answers to tests from teacher table but it could be used the other way around, too. "More spaghetti you said?" she commented cheerfully and next moment, most of the plate content that had adorned her now were placed on Pinkie and his stuffed animal.

"Rare steak and glass of water," she told the server with sweetest smile. If he continued at this, he'd have war... No one mocked her and went unpunished. Although he was first one to dare it in the past school year and half, so it was at least some interesting change and had he not been so extreme, she'd probably even laughed with him.

"And that is against university's regulations," Mae commented in cool tone, but did not move to kick him out of the greenhouse just yet. He was the most horrible fisherman she had ever seen anyway. However, Saith also couldn't keep his mouth shut for some reason and when he asked about her year, she rose her head with disapproving expression. "Are you not capable of doing something in silence?" she questioned, but before he could answer, the man took a rather unfortunate dip into the pool.

She was half-amused, half-annoyed, as proven by the slight laugh low in her throat, especially at his desperate expression and question. "No, you won't," she explained with roll of her eyes. Still, her dutiful nature made the girl stand up and offer him a hand to help him out. It was not until he stood up that she noticed something on his left hand. "On the other hand..." her face now was fully serious. "Stand still," she commanded him, grabbing Saith's wrist.

There was a small, leech like creature attached to top of his palm and with flick of her finger, she sent a burst of heat at it, making it open its jaws and fall back into water. It left an ugly, quickly darkening wound behind, though, and few moments later it started to ooze something blue. "You need to see the nurse, now," Mae told him and began unceremoniously dragging the taller male with her, out of the greenhouse and down the corridor in pace that many could be envious of.

Before he could rattle off any witty comments, Saith's face was growing paler by the second. This whole "dying thing" was making it impossible to come across rude, noisy, loud, troublesome -- it didn't matter. None of that mattered if he was dead.

As her hand seized his wrist, wide blue orbs darted between the thing on his wrist and her face.

Gosh, she's beautiful.

Er, back on the topic of dying, his brows began to sweat bullets. The fact that his palm was now oozing was overly alarming. "Uh, yeah," was all he could retort when she forcefully instructed they see the nurse. He didn't even try to argue with her. When it came to these kind of situations, he would easily let the one who know more step to the plate and take charge.

Silently, he followed her without uttering a word. She finally got her silence! Though it was hardly the silence she wanted. Seconds felt like hours as they weaved around the campus. And, of course, it had to be in caution for if the football team caught him, he would do dead anyway.

A few faces turned their way as they hastily made their way to the medical center. As expected, the gossip began to fly and soon ran rampant all over social media:
Tweet: OMG, I knew #MissPriss was into bad boys! She's hooking up with #Saith right now!

Snapchat (of the two running away): Lacrimae and Saith sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!

Facebook: Dammit! Student council pres is taking the freak to the ball. FML
Someone responded with: Ewww, with him. Why him! He's going to ruin her perfection.
Someone else responded: No, you mean he'll make her all the better. Good girl gone bad. #TeamSaith
Of course, neither knew what was flying around on the social media mediums. They would, eventually though. Heck! They might even be trending if their follow classmates continued to show such an interest in them.

Finally outside the doors of the medic bay, Saith shot of a worrisome look at the woman that still held his hand. "If I die, I promise I won't sue you for being nice." His voice was oddly sincere, much like the smile on his face.

Not letting his excitement dance across his face, Cain just stared blankly at all that come from her mouth. Her actions were expected, though it phased him nonetheless. He was always told to walk the higher ground. There was no point in being petty -- even when this woman clearly deserved it.

As her mockery continued, he could only find himself hugging the stuffed animal in his hands more. "I agree, mate. She's worth it." Pushing the loose ends of the noodles to the side of his face, his attention was caught elsewhere. "Thanks again, mate. Promise I'll actually eat it this time." With a light head bob, he skipped away from the line and waited patiently for Marwo to get her meal.

He looked cheeky as hell standing there without a care in the world as he waited for the woman to seek out a seat, he twirled his fork into the spaghetti and dared to eat it while standing. He cared not if he made a mess for he was already donning the delish tomato sauce from head to toe. If he further marred his attire with red, it didn't matter. No harm could come as far as he was concerned.

She probably shrugged him off, but Cain didn't care. When she stepped away, he skipped happily behind her, tiger-fox swinging all the way. If she dared to stop and call him out on a being a stalker, he would lift his animal to his face and say it was all Fengir's doing. He just didn't want to upset his pet for he knew better than to cross a tiger-fox! If she said not a word, he too would follow in silence.

In the end, he would stick to her like glue. And ultimately, end up sitting with her.

"Mate, you can either embrace it or fight it." Plopped on a booth beside her, his fork dove into the spaghetti before entering his mouth. "Let's face it, we've both seen worse. Like that chap over there," his fork pointed to some blue-skinned freak, "poor mate dyed his skin to impress a lass. She ended up asking his sister to the dance." With a smirk, he glanced over at the woman beside him.

"But don't let me have all the fun mocking these pathetic imbeciles. Surely you know a dweeb when you see one."

When it appeared he was coming along willingly, she let go of his hand, but unknown to her, the damage was already done. Not only they had been together in the same space, but her hand on his, and it was more than enough to have the eager rumor mill running wildly. She would not become aware of it until much later, however. Anyway, her mind right now was preoccupied by certain male and his health. The silence was blessing, of course, but not long lasting when her earpiece beeped. She touched it slightly and listened with a frown. "Lacrimae speaking. ... Food fight? No, I cannot come right now. I have a situation at hand here that must be dealt with," she paused then and frown became slightly deeper. "I do not know what you are smirking about it, but it is unneeded. ... I can hear it in your voice. ... If they both have stopped throwing food then keep an eye on the pair, but that should be enough for now. Bye."

Soon after, they reached the nurse's office and Mae knocked on the door in demanding, impatient manner. Yet, no answer came. Another knock and then she was barging in, pretty much like she owned the place. But a kind of bossiness was one of her main traits a lot of people noticed about her right away. Not that right now it mattered for the room was empty. With gesture showing that Saith should sit down, she looked about and found the medicine cabinet, but it was locked... Annoyed, she recalled she had asked this to implemented after some student had gotten high from stuff he had stolen from nurse's office.

"Wait here, I will find the nurse," she told the man rather stiffly, taking in that he didn't look too well, paling to sickly dark grey. How long did the poison take to harm a body? She didn't know, she wasn't studying biology, dammit! After quick and thorough search of surrounding area and few calls to nurse's phone (don't ask why she had it), she returned to the office as empty handed as before. Calmly, she shut the door behind her and sat down on chair besides the bed Saith had chosen. "I could not find the nurse," she explained the obvious and then took his hand to inspect it. It didn't look good, the skin around bite now looking reddish blue and swollen, veins under his skin starting to color. By gods, she had said it was dangerous to have such things in university, but who listened to her?? At least when she didn't stomp her foot.

There was only one thing she could do now. Well, maybe two, if she broke into the cabinet, but she wasn't sure she would know the right antidote anyway. So, with sigh she accepted her fate and the blue eyes fluttered shut as a soft hum started to vibrate in her throat. Her skin grew warmer, as did his, but it wasn't unpleasant. There was a soft, barely noticeable glow about her that then transferred to his wound. With the rise and full of the soft hum, the magic streamed through his body in gentle waves, erasing existence of the poison and any damage it had done in its wake. Tiny sweat droplet formed by her brow, as the magical of healing was one she hardly ever practiced, but still on some level it was as natural to her as breathing.

"There," she spoke, opening eyes to have a look at the result of her work. There was just a small, pinkish mark on his hand now. "You are good to return to dorms," council president informed the dark male and stood up. "I only ask of you this, do not share this fact with anyone," Lacrimae spoke, referencing her healing abilities. No one really knew what happened to the people drafted in the Healing Squads, but they were never seen or heard from again and people with this rare ability hid this gift as much as they could. Yet, she couldn't let a man die on her, even if he was a cocky delinquent. With this, Mae turned to leave.

If there was one thing Marwo was good at it was ignoring people. Well, to be honest, she sucked it and was much better at making them regret ever bothering her. But at least she liked to pretend she was very good at ignoring people. And that's exactly what she did with the weird pinkie guy. Having had her revenge and outfit mostly clean, he was not worth her attention much more. At least not until he had the gall to follow her and even sit down in her booth. At the man's exclamation, she didn't even raise her green eyes, just commented that there's always middle road of ignoring.

Her eyes did lazily travel over the short male and then the one he spoke of, but she cared to respond only after swallowing her bite and washing it down with sip of water. She pondered his urging to mock these fools along, not entirely sure if he really thought of them so lowly or was just trying to find purchase for his opinion that she was a total b***h. Well, it wasn't just an opinion, it was a fact, but anyway.

"That social failure is at least indeed head over heels in love with her, the dimblood that he is. People have done both braver and dumber things in that state," Marwo commented, not in tone that she was defending the now-blue skinned guy, but not attacking either. Her voice became snarkier when she pointed at a male who came in with bunch of guys behind him and girls plastered over his bulky form. "Now that blood clot thinks he is blessing to the Galaxy just because his daddy can pay for his grades, and thinks any woman should be honored to be assaulted by him. Well, when I was done with him, he didn't want any for few weeks," with smirk, Marwolaeth returned to her meal, but not before the male caught her looking at her, visibly paled and ducked his head, quickly changing direction away from the booth the blood red haired woman was in.

Meanwhile, in the spaceport of the university, a ship was landing that would bring more than just new breeze to the university. No, it would be a tornado to turn everything upside down...

Saith always knew her to be pushy and demanding (such things came with being the school president) but this was beyond what he believed. She almost seemed angry, as if nothing could go her way. She came across reckless, a controlled reckless, and edgy. She clearly wanted something and wasn't getting it.

Sinking lower into the chair, his sad eyes turned from her as he sat there twiddling his thumbs. Frankly, she wouldn't be in this situation right now if he didn't cause a commotion in the locker room and if he didn't run into her hidden sanctuary. Riddled with guilt, his face continued to grow weaker, lighter, and sicker. His arm had even begun to throb and when he went to squeeze it, his eyes grew wide with alarm. His sense of touch in that area was quickly fading, a sure-fire sign that if he didn't receive medical attention immediately that he would likely lose a limb.

Thankfully, Mae returned just in time to ease his panic. There was something about seeing her that caused him to smile and lean forward into her. Only, upon discovering that she was empty handed and without a nurse, the beads of sweat and panic came back.

Was this really how he was going to end? He swore he would straighten up and get his act together -- but he never did. Was this his punishment for lying and teasing? Had all his sinning finally caught up to him?

Ears drooping, his large, sapphire orbs looked into hers. They were neither sad nor afraid. If anything, they seemed... distant. Almost as if he knew what was coming and wasn't about to let it mar his cocky pride. Yes, even in defeat Saith refused to look the part.

"Hey," he said when she scrambled to his side, "this isn't your fault." He could tell just by the way she was acting that she was blaming herself. "You warned me, I didn't listen. You can't take any blame so don--"

Before he could finish, Saith stopped to watch her strange gestures. Was she really humming? At a time like this? He was trying to be sincere and she's just singing away! And making his arm glow! And feel warm! A nice kind of warm but still....

WAIT A MINUTE!

The distance in his eyes vanished and became a look of genuine curiosity. Everything about this was magical -- something he didn't see coming. She was sweating but with each push and pull of her powers and his blood, the pain was fading. Soon, the raw skin looked nearly as good as new and he could actually wiggle his fingers again!

A rush of emotions followed. There were so many words he had to say and things he had to do. Oh he could just kiss her! Literally, no one had ever done something like this before and, frankly, kissing her seemed like the ideal way to say thanks.

Er, granted, kissing might lead her into thinking he liked her, which wasn't the case. Or at least that's what he was telling himself now. Nope! There was no way he could or would ever like a miss prim and proper such as she. Still, as she pulled away and spoke of leaving, Saith's hand reached out to bring her back.

That initial touch of reaching back out to her seemed to slow his heart, if not stop it. Time seemed to pause as he was given a chance to once-over the woman who saved him. His blue orbs lost their curiosity and reflected compassion and admiration instead. The way he leaned into her suggested that he was sincere in his actions. And how his lips quivered while falling agape? Well, one could only guess what should come next.

Before she could break free, he was standing all around her. Gingerly, his arms looped around her thin form while his head nuzzled her hair. Closing the space between them, the two now stood chest-to-chest.

His heart was racing, she could certainly feel it. The adrenaline from the rush of magic and living was just pushing him over the edge. Why, if he wasn't careful, he knew he could land himself in a heap of trouble with the woman who literally just saved his arm.

As he held her, the silence and raw tenderness of the moment won him over. Oh how he wanted to kiss her and see where it would lead. Would she jump into his arms and let him take her away? Would most women not swoon as such a passionate moment?

Not wanting to waste another breath of air not pressing her lips, Saith shifted slightly to free his hand. It danced lightly up her arm and soon stroked her jaw. With one move, he could tilt her lips toward his and truly thank the woman.

Lips ajar, he slowly fell into her. A part of him hoped that she would simply close her eyes and drink in the romance.

"Thank you."

A gentle kiss was placed right above her brows, smack-dab in the middle of her forehead. Hands falling off her shoulders, a small side grin tugged at his lips.

Saith didn't get that kiss he wanted. He knew he wouldn't, or rather shouldn't, so he purposely shifted its location. It was no were near as good as it could have been, but knowing full-well that Lacrimae wouldn't fall victim to such seduction, Saith left it sweet and simple.

With a wink, he stepped out into the empty halls of the medical area. And soon, he would vanished outside and go about his usual life, as if none of this even happened.

"True, true," Cain said with a faint smile playing on his lips. "Man, and woman, are capable of making both fools and heroes of themselves when it comes to something as fleeting yet precious as love." Hands folding neatly below his chin, he watched as Marwo picked out their next victim to mock. Sadly, it was one she knew well, too well, and it caused "Pinkie" to grimace inwardly. Honestly, it should have been expected though. A gem as jaded as she surely had suitors and spent evenings destroying hopes and wonders.

"Heh," he tried to play it off as if it were nothing. Truly, it was nothing but the idea still bothered him to some extent, though it didn't show. "So that's his story. Never could reckon why the poor mate had a stick up his ass. Should have guessed his father rammed it up their with money and lies." Draping his fingers across the bridge of his nose, he tried to sound pretentious, as if he too came from money and wealth.

"Well, d'alling, I've money to boot so please, please take this as an offering for a luscious, gracious A."

No longer sounding like he was a pompous, rich Brit, he laughed. "It's sad though, how money can corrupt and buy nearly everything." Patting the stuffed creature at his side, he turned his attention to another who walked into the room.

"Oi, I wonder what's got him peeved to the point of stealing a bab-ey." He need not wait any longer, for soon the girls were flipping the TV station to the school news challenge. "Our news? How dull," he slouched but soon grew interested when the Student Council President's face came into focus on the screen.

"Now she," he gestured toward the TV, "has a story to tell. I can't help but wonder what skeletons she has hidden in her closet."

"You are completely right, it is your fault, but you are still my responsibility," she had told him, sternly, not caring for his self-deprecating speeches. Especially since she was already taking care of the issue, by risking her own skin. If he spoke to anyone about this... Oh no, it could turn out very nasty. Which is why she wished to leave in such a hurry, but Saith stopped her with a gentle touch.

Mae turned around to look at him and was taken aback by the expression on his face. There was admiration, gratefulness... Those two she had definitely been given before and generous, yet there was something warmer, something that she wasn't used to seeing. In her stomach, a feeling knotted up, and she moved to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear in an attempt to smooth away her awkwardness, but whatever was this feeling in the woman, Saith managed to destroy it well enough himself, by compulsively hugging her.

"Excuse me? Are you familiar with term 'personal space', because right now you're completely ignoring mine!" Mae huffed, completely unimpressed by the proximity of the taller man and by the gods, was he nuzzling her hair? Was he absolutely and completely nuts? And she had trusted him with her one, big secret? Alright, not the whole big secret, but they key part of it!

Still, her push at his chest couldn't be called a honest-to-god attempt to get him away from her, the racing of his heart beneath her palm another shocker of sorts and for a moment, she wondered - was he going to kiss her?? Her reaction wasn't an instant recoiling as it normally would be, though, not that she was going to ponder about that, now later or ever. Yet, she didn't pull away (very much) and the pressure she tried to push him away with was also not that much when he was moving in.

Thankfully (?), it was a kiss between her brows and in a sense, the sweet, caring gesture left her more stunned than a kiss to her lips or even cheek could. In fact, her mouth opened slightly, and for a change, not to protest, but just in wonder, and she didn't manage to say anything else before Saith thanked and disappeared from her view.

For a moment, she stood there dumbfounded (a state she had not been in for years), then sighed, looked about and finally exited nurse's office, closing the doors quietly. After checking up on the girl that had reported the food fight and finding out the two culprits were now sitting in the same booth and chatting (ugh, university kids and quick mood changes), she decided to head back to her dorm. Her plan was to take a long, nice shower, crash in her bed and read a book until she fell asleep. And definitely not to think about certain delinquent and the mess he had made.

But, of course, it was not meant to be. Seconds after she entered her dorm room, she was greeted by squeeling roommate - a girl from tech path, a complete flirt and gossip, forgetful and completely everything Mae was not. "I can't belieeeeve it! I KNEW you had a boooyfriend! But him!?! That's amaaazing, tell me all about it!!" she was rambling excitedly and a sense of fearful realization crawled up Mae's spine. "What? I don't have a boyfriend. What are you talking about?" she asked, as always wanting to know all the facts.

"Huh and what do you call this!!" Phone was shoved in Lacrimae's face, showing her and Saith holding hands as she was dragging him through the school grounds. "No, he is not my boyfriend. I was taking him to nurse's office," elven woman tried to explain. "Uh-huh, playing nurse for him? Naughty, naughty!" At the suggestion, blush (more from anger than anything else) crept on Mae's face.

"Ugh, think what you will, but he is not my boyfriend. I would not be hiding if I had relationships anyhow, I have no reason to," she announced. "Well, you weren't hiding it today..." her roommate giggled and Mae just shook her head and left the room to finally take the much deserved shower. She made one simple claim in her lifebook that all of this was simple misunderstanding and avoided social media for the rest of the night. Hopefully, the storm in water glass would pass soon...

She didn't even seem to listen to his ramble about love and stuck up rich boy, but proved the assumption wrong, when she quickly reacted to his comment about cash buying anything. "What it got him from me was unforgettable pain and promise of experiencing worse if he attacked another girl," Marwolaeth smiled ferociously at this, sharp teeth glinting in the light as her green eyes seemingly darkened. Although her claim was nearly noble, there seemed very little good and kind about her in this very moment.

She continued to eat in silence until school president's face came on the TV and Pinkie had the need to comment her. Rolling her eyes. Marwolaeth leaned back in her seat, water glass in her hand. Ugh, if he was one of her flock.... Would explain why he was so annoying. "I could find out what's her secret, if I wanted to, but there's no point. Even if she turned out to be psychotic mass murderer, good deal of people would go: "Oh, she's too pretty and nice, that cannot be true!", while another would be 'oh, she is always right, so she must have had a reason!' and some bloody fools would probably even want to join her cause! Ugh, I hate people like that." She didn't clarify if she hated people like those 'bloody fools' or people like Mae, though.

At this, the blood red haired woman stood up, not even caring if the other was finished eating and began heading back to her dorm without as much as good bye. If he was to follow her, she'd ignore him, just like she did most of the time before, at least until they reached her room. There, she opened the door, but didn't go inside immediately, turning to face Cain for a moment more. "If you think you can follow me around for the rest of the year and be entertained... You're wrong. In fact, if you're going to stick around, you better hope you will entertain me, or else." Her grin was nearly threatening as she flicked his forehead and then disappeared in her room, slamming doors and locking them behind her. Clearer than clear: further entrance denied.

Waking up, Mae did not know it yet, but she was going to be saved from much more further embarrassment with the Saith fiasco (for now) as a new star was about to enter the scene of their university. It didn't mean Mae wouldn't have to suffer consequences of this fact either, though. In fact, she was woken two hours earlier, called to an emergency meeting with some of the teachers because the student exchange program that had been cancelled week ago was apparently going through and she had to prepare to take in the new student who'd stay here until and during exams, as apparently she wished to test herself in this particular field. It all made little to no sense to Mae, but she had to just go with the flow.

It was lunch time that a car drove up the the university and a young woman stepped out of car. The news of the exchange student had already spread, so, she was welcomed by far more than just the student council. And while everyone here were used to strange people, she was the cherry on the cake. With hair neither brown nor copper, but a mix of both, and eyes of gold (even the whites had slight golden tones), toned skin that had nearly like doe-like paler spots around her eyes, and beautiful features, she was a striking thing. Her outfit daring, in green shades, and revealing her arms covered in pale flower tattoos only added to eccentricity. But that was not all: her head was adorned by headband with small horns attached to it - or maybe they were two separate things? And she had a broom. And not just any modern electrical broom, it had actual branches at end and it moved on its own accord, clearing path clean of people in front of the new student.

But despite her strangeness, she smiled kindly to the council president and the two, although followed by crowd, quickly moved through the school grounds as Silvana (for that was the new witch's name, and I am not kidding about witch part, she indeed came from planet race, and even school where people are taught witchcraft of sorts) learned about the new place, greatly interested in everything. All was well until they came to the sport fields.

This was place that mostly jocks and elite of the school visited except for the various championships and festivals that everyone was basically forced to either participate or watch. Rest of the time, 'regular' people were not entirely welcome here. And Silvana had to witness this very soon when the two women noticed one of the youngest students being purposely tripped by bunch of guys so she fell hard and even her skirt fluttered in the wind, giving even more reason to have the guys laugh. In rightful anger, the woman was one moment by Mae's side and in the next, in middle of the jock group, her broom creating a powerful gust of wind that threw each 'man' in different direction as she glared at them and immediately knelt to help the poor girl up and speak with her quietly of something. At least few of the guys were probably knocked out and, to be entirely honest, Mae didn't feel sorry for them at all, as she had been about to get involved in the scene as well. With this, then, the tour was finished and elven woman and witch took the 'nerd' away from there to have her scraped knee and torn socks fixed. Part of the crowd dissipated when president reminded them the classes were about to begin and witch shot last disgusted look at the jocks that were now coming back to their senses. The broom followed the three women as haughtily as animated object could.

There was no need to knock for his roommate was already sweeping him into the apartment. The two were renting a place just off campus that fit their budget. For what they paid, they really had a steal of a deal. It was a two bedroom, two bath place with a large living room and a decent sized kitchen. They shared things like trash and laundry with some other who lived in the same community block. But overall, it was nice. Why, they even had a pool and BBQ area!

Not given a second, the raven Saith lived with, A. Kevlar Bael, was demanding answers about the trending Saith and Mae story. What's she like? How did you meet? Are you asking her to the dance? They were just a few of the ceaseless questions that came from the man's mouth.

"Bro,"
he placed his hands on the man's chest. "Relax. Nothing happened. If something had happened, you'd be the first to know. I just," he rolled his eyes before laughing and diving into the black, plush couch. "She's..." he sighed. "She's different."

"From the way you sigh, I can tell she's different." Lifting the drow's head, Kev shoved a pillow beneath him before scooting to the far side of the couch. "So what happened?"

"As you know, the jocks needed a reminder. So I stole their trophy and they went nuts. Threatened to kill me and everything. Needing to get out of sight, I ducked into a building and before I knew it, I was in a botanical garden." Not interrupting, for Kev knew better, he just listened with chin on hand. "I thought I was alone but before I knew it, she was there. We talked--er, more like she threatened to kick me out--and before I knew it, we were looking at the coy pond." A blush crossed his black cheeks. "I might have been a bit in over my head but I tried to walk to her. Ended up tripping and fell in the pond. Low and behold, there was some poisonous creature in it and I got bit."

Not needing to hear another word more, Kev filled in the rest. "So she, being who she is, took you to the clinic? But," his brows furrowed, "isn't it closed at this hour?"

"We got lucky. Someone was on standby for the EMT squad and they helped direct us. She did all the work. Honestly, they were useless." He lied through his teeth, refusing to share her secret just yet.

"Ha, sounds like EMT!"
Kev ruffled Saith's mess of white hair before laughing again. "Well, I'm glad you're okay. I was worried."

Saith, feeling the passion in his friend's voice, curled his middle finger down to reach his thumb. Then, gracefully, he flicked the raven right in the left ear.

"Ouch!" Kevlar hissed before his hand smacked Saith's flailing arm. "You're a ass, you know that?!"

"And yet you love me," he made kissing noses while trying to lick the man's leg.

"Eh!? Stop it! Freak!"
Squirming, Kev rolled onto the ground and fell right into the bowl of popcorn. In seconds, the little pieces of popped corn were sprawled across the floor and the two were laughing. Joining his friend on the floor, the males sat, head-to-head, with eyes on the ceiling. Slowly, the munched on the day-old popcorn and just sat in silence.

"You going to ask her to the mandatory dance?"

Lips drawn tight, Saith finally sighed in defeat. "I don't think she's into me like that. Don't get me wrong, she's amazing, but I'm not her type."

Kevlar rolled over so he now looked down at the man with blue eyes. Blowing air into Saith's face so the silver fringe moved from his eyes, the raven smiled. "Sounds like someone's in love."

"Love? This soon! Psh, please." Rolling over, he headbutted his roommate. "Besides, love isn't really my thing. I don't want that kind of commitment. Not to mention, she's the school student council president. She can and should do so much better than me. I mean, just look at me? Troublemaker, drow, reject. Why would she ever want someone like this?"

"Oh god," Kev snorted, "enough with the down-talk. You know I hate the pity-party Saith. C'mon man, you're a drow. Aren't you supposed to be badass? Stop acting like a prepubescent human twat."

With a glare, Saith rolled back his lip. "Watch it, bro."

"Bro, seriously. If you like her, then do something nice for her. Just because you've a bad rep doesn't mean you're a bad man. Just because people put you in the light of shame and trouble, doesn't mean you need to stay in it. I know you volunteer on weekends to help the disabled kiddies. I also know you frequent that bar in Chinatown or whatever to help the family make ends meet. I also know you drop 10% of your paycheck into the Drow's Association to help other drows get into this esteemed college. People don't give you the time of day to shine. Maybe she will. Maybe she's the type of woman you need to chase after--not these scantly clad whores who have nothing but sex to their names. At least Lacrimae has something. She's smart, beautiful, graceful. Give her a chance. Give yourself a chance."

Resting a heavy hand on Saith's shoulder, he gave it a good squeeze. "Just be yourself. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. If not, well, you move on."

Blue orbs looking up, Saith smiled. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Besides, I feel like I owe her. She did save my life."

He nodded. "Why not take her to that Chinese place? Might be nice to get her off campus and away from the wandering eyes of the gossip-loving students."

"Good idea! I'll ask her tomo--"

"No, bro, you have to do the three day rule. Ask her in three days."

"Kev, seriously? That's just a lame ass rule. Besides, didn't you just tell me, if I like her, do something? Why wait? Shouldn't I grab this opportunity by the horns and make the most of it in the time I have? Three days from now and she might forget who I am. At least tomorrow, she'll know who I am."

With a shrug, Kevlar rolled from the floor and moved to his bathroom. "Might be onto something. Give it a go. If you think it right, trust that gut of yours. Anyway, it's getting late. Night!"

"Sleep tight," Saith chirped before heading off to bed.

---

Since last night's meeting with his roommate, Kevlar was in an unbelievably good mood. There was nothing that would bring him down. Like always, the roommates eat breakfast together before splitting for the remainder of the day.

"How's the toast?" he asked the man with black skin.

"NEEDS MORE JELLY!" he demanded while spying the raven who was successfully hording all the jelly. "Now give it here, human, before I use my magic on you."

"Pffffffffffff~ Oh, whatcha gonna do? Eyeball me to death?! So scared, soooooo scared." Quivering, he waved a nonexistent white flag and passed the jelly to his roommate. "But seriously, whatcha gonna do. You're all bones and no meat." Making a muscle, he grinned. "See, muscle."

"You know muscle isn't everything," Saith rolled his eyes while lathering the toast with three cartons of jelly. "Besides, you might out-gun me, but I can definitely out run you." Munching on the toast, he smirked. "And you mock the eyes but you know. You know."

If anywhere were eavesdropping, they would likely think the two insane. Truth be told, the insanity was actually legitimate. Saith had a secret and only Kevlar knew about it. Much like Mae who feared being taken away, Saith, too, feared what would happen if his secret was discovered. Thankfully, he had a friend who he trusted undoubtedly.

"So what's on the dock for today?" Saith polished off his toast before moving to the heaping bowl of fruit. "Anything cool?"

"Hmmm, just some practice then classes. OH! Hey, if you're free around 3, you should come by the track. They're going to be announcing the team for this weekend's competition."

"I get out of class at 2:50, so I'll be there. Better save me a good seat," he jeered. "And this time, I would prefer a place not next to the shit pile."

"Eh," Kev shrugged, "can't promise that. But I'll get you in through the back. Can't help if where they poop. You know horses, they've minds of their own. They're like women, only easier to handle."

"Because you use a whip," he smirked.

"You can whip a woman," Kev crossed his arms over his chest.

Nearly spitting out his juice, Saith laughed. "Oh yeah, that's so you. Mr. Grey."

"Busted, I know. I'm just not found of that lifestyle. Nor would I ever whip my Ruine. She's too precious to mar with such tasteless commands for dominance."

With breakfast done, the two swooped in for a quick pat before bouncing away and going about their day. "Remember, get there before 3 so I can sneak you in the back!"

"Same place as last time?" Saith called from over his shoulder.

"You know it!"

---

After breakfast, Kevlar went about his morning routine, training. He went to where all the jocks went and started his usual workout. As soon as he was done running his lap and doing some strength training, he would get out his horse, Ruine, and ride her for a bit before heading off to his late morning class.

However, today was playing out different. Despite the awesome mood he woke with, the day quickly turned sour. Witnessing some jocks ruff up a girl and force her to the ground, the raven found himself seething.

Instantly, he put down the weights and made a bee-line for the jerks that dared play pranks on an innocent woman. Nearly open them, he opened his mouth but only loud enough for the jocks to hear--not the bystanders, who he was completely unaware of.

"Hey, knock it off." Easily able to match their stature, the other jocks turned to him, likely to rattle off some witty retort, but before they could, something else swept them off their feet, literally!

Head falling into the ground, Kev let out a light grunt before trying to see what had been done. He felt like stars were swirling around his head and his eyes were seeing double. Blinking hard, he forced himself to regain composure. Just as he did, a woman, unlike anything he'd ever seen, came into view. Her movements were graceful yet firm. Her body, perfectly crafted to give her the sweet allure of innocence yet it rippled with a steadfast strength of dominance. Everything about this woman was jaw-dropping, right down to the adorable little dots on her face.

Unable to utter anything, he just watched as she and Lacrimae walked off. Most of the guys around him called her vulgar names but Kev? He could only grin from ear to ear. "You're just upset you got your ass handed to you by a woman," he said while dusting off.

"Dumbass, you did too."

"Yeah," Kev whirled around and flashed the man a smile. "And unlike you thugs, I admire her. You treat women like they're something to be won. Whatever happened to being a gentleman? You live by such poor standards? If anything, it is we, the men, that should be won. Were we not created, as a gender, to protect, adore, and love women, should we fall for their grace and perfection?"

At this point, the other jocks were just laughing. Clearly, they weren't buying Kev's romanticized words. Knowing this, Kev snorted before rolling his eyes. "And you wonder why we have a bad reputation." With a snarl, he stepped away and went to seek out his horse. Right now, Ruine was the medicine he needed to calm down.

And then he remembered! He had to text Saith.

He stared at his phone for god knows how long. "Girlfriend." It's what Kevlar sent him and it really made Saith sweat bullets. Sure, he liked her. Yes, I had every intent on kissing her last night. And yet, he just couldn't picture himself with her. She was so different. So prim and proper. So--

He stopped, nearly running into a pole. "Pay attention, Saith," he chided to himself. "No need to get your head lost in the clouds over something so frivolous. Not like she'll reciprocate the feelings." With a frown, he continued walking to class.

Honestly, Saith had every intention to go straight to class but it looked like fate had another plan. As he was about to open a door, a hand reached out and touched his. Brows furrowing and peeved glimmer in his blue orbs, he snapped toward the owner of said hand. "Can you not see I'm opening the door! What kind of idiot are you? Hell, you should get your eyes checked! And now I have to wash my hands because your soiled, heinous skin touched mine. Ha! Like I would even mingle with a pale skin like you. Why don't you just get lost, mouse."

He had every intention of berating them and giving them a reason to fear him. Only, that didn't happen.

The ferocity in his eyes faded instantly and the growl that should have come, was lost in his breathlessness. Stepping back, he blinked before bashfully turning his head aside, while pulling the door the rest of the way. Gesturing by half bowing and half signaling his hand into the opening, he nodded without making eye contact.

"After you," he whispered to Mae and Silvana.

What were the odds they would go to the same building his classes were in. Sure, the new semester just started but they never had overlap like this. Mae was on a completely different track than he.

Then it hit him, maybe Silvana was the one who had a class in here. That's got to be it, he told himself.

Standing behind the girls, he quickly lunged forward to open the second set of doors. "How are you enjoying the campus thus far?" he asked while standing behind the large, actually heavy door?

Now inside the building, the drow dropped a hand on his hip while the other laid at his side. His eyes danced from sign to sign to find the direction of his classroom. Upon spying it, he saluted the woman and attempted to walk toward class. Only, it was a minefield in there. Everyone was frantically weaving about trying to make it to class before the bell chimed.

Saith, meaning no harm by it, accidentally brushed up against Mae in such as a way that his hand gingerly met the sweet spot on her lower back. Unaware, he flashed the girls a smile before trying to swim through the crowd, again.

"Best of luck," he chimed before rounding the corner and moving toward the class. This was what? Day two of the new semester. To his dislike, Saith was forced into a lore class. It was a mandatory class and he had put it off for long enough.

Entering the room, he noticed a lot of students, each a different species. With an eye-roll, he slumped into the second to last row and took a window seat. This class was going to suck. He just knew it.

---

Despite taking a door to the face, Cain didn't move. Instead, he just smiled gleefully. It was an odd sight to see--man with door in face and a smile on his face.

A few students tried to ask if he was okay but ultimately thought he was either deaf or creepy. And, knowing the door he stood in front of, none of them wanted to help. If he was a creep, then she deserved it! With all her taunting, tormenting, and teasing, Marwo deserved whatever this pink hair lad dished out at her.

When he remained like this late into the night, one of the women on the floor (likely the floor monitor) just had to inquire what he was doing.

"Waiting," he responded polity.

"Waiting for what?" Her voice sounded disgusted, as if waiting for someone was a bad idea. "Why would you wait for her?"

"Why not, mate?" Cain's eyes finally peeled from the door. "Just because she gives off a demonic impression and acts stringent doesn't mean she's incapable of sentiment. I find it's this caliber of individuals that truly defines fulfillment in life. Though some fear her unorthodox crusading, I see no need to shudder at her sight. Woman has something... peculiar about her. Something I desire to inquire more about."

While talking, the woman backed away from the pink haired man ever so slowly. It was evident that there was an unnerving feeling in her. Ultimately, she left and locked the door, caring not for one second if it was against protocol to let a student not of her area stay over. She wanted absolutely knowing to do with the mischievous man.

Slowly turning his gaze back to the door, he let out a yawn before resting his forehead against it. "I don't understand why you lock me out when I know you want to let me in." Looking at his feet, he signed before turning over and resting his back against her door. "But I know my time will come and you'll learn to let me in."

Folding his arms on his knees, he rested his head upon that crossed pattern and closed his eyes. He would attempt to sleep but find it hard to do when he was so caught up in such joyous emotions. Sure, she slammed a door in his face. Yes, she was hard to talk to. But, she did show him her room. She did talk to him, even if a bit. And she did go out of her way to be spiteful to him.

There was a connection between them. Cain could taste the spark, it was right on the tip of his tongue. It was the beat that kept his heart alive.

Everything about her, though mysterious, moved him. He was fascinated by her. She was like a rare gem among a bunch of dull stones. The way she moved was flawless, as if she were floating. Her tone was always spot on and so haughty that it made Cain swoon. And her mind? Oh, don't get him started on that. He loved how maniacal she was. Not in a bad way, either. He just loved how she was so wrapped up in her own rules and ways of life. She was truly free and Cain admired her way of living.

There was a spunk in her that caused his eyes to roll back with pleasure. She was like the perfect specimen to study. He needed to dissect her and learn everything about the woman--how she worked, what made her tick, what made her laugh. Everything and anything. He would gobble it all up until he knew her through and through.

Then, and only then, would he claim victory of her heart. Cain knew that he could try to small talk his way into her heart, but it was futile. Marwo needed more. She needed someone to not only break down her wall, but build up a new one. And Cain? He was bound and determined to be that man.

Marwolaeth forgot about Pinkie nearly as soon as she slammed shut the doors behind her. Yet, he did linger in her thought for a brief moment more which was a lot more than most people got. Annoying brat, that's what he was. At this point, the idea that he could even consider to attempt to date her didn't occur to her. Well, alright, she knew every man's (with correct orientation) eyes lingered on her curves and challenging smirk, and many desired to have her, to claim her, but that this nutjob would plan to something like that... It was too ludicrous to cross her mind. Besides, they always failed anyway, because she was not an item to be claimed. No, time when she was an object was long since gone and now the only one that mattered in her life was herself. The rest simply blinked into her life to be destroyed or forgotten.

Her room was small, for she was only one living here, it had been a fight with the council that of course she won, same about having the walls repainted to darker emerald and forest greens, with dark red accents. Oh, yes, she liked her dark colors, like to shine among them. Turning music up, she took a quick shower and sat some time at the desk, sketching. Her music varied from old pop songs, to eclectic techno music no human (or her) ear could truly appreciate, and a lot of it was various heavy rock and metal songs from all ages and times. Finally satisfied with her achievements for the day, Marwo changed in her nightclothes and went to dreamland.

Long ago, she had learned technique to shut down her consciousness to the point she had no dreams as soon as she willed herself to. It was a must to have any sleep, to avoid nightmares plaguing her to the point she became a mere shadow of herself. But not even her past was her queen, only she herself was. Unfortunately, getting herself to wake up was a much harder process... Groaning, she hit the alarm clock ringing obnoxiously. "Five more bloody minutes." But the clock didn't care, it knew it could very well become 60 minutes. So, the noise didn't stop and she reached... reached and just rolled out of her bed, because the clock was on the desk, not by her bed. Groaning, Marwo got up, stretched and yawned in utterly cat like manner and began her morning routine. Once the webs of sleep were shaken of, she was a quick moved, preparing in less than hour, makeup and everything.

Humming along to metal song, she opened her doors and - surprise, surprise! - pink haired man fell backwards in her room. Perfectly arched eyebrows shot up as she stared down at him and then nudged with her high heel leather boot certainly not kindly. "It's time for you to get up, up and away," Marwo told with a smirk. Today, her hair was pulled in careless side ponytail, tank top in blood red color under leather vest and skin tight black jeans that went right in the leather boots. Certainly a sight to wake up to, if he had been asleep.

Once Cain was out of her room, either literally kicked out or moved out himself, she, one hand propped on her hip, stared down at him. "If I catch you at my door one more time, I will haul your skinny ass straight to the council princess. She'll probably rise her voice a bit, shocking her fan club, and kick you out of the uni, or at least the dorms. Just so you know!" And with that, she walked away as if the corridor belonged to her, a bag swung over her shoulder. (The people in corridor split up, giving her passage, as if she really did own the place, too, though.)

Mae had only herself to blame. Caught up in the conversation with Silvana, she hadn't been paying close enough attention to time and here they were now, rushing to new student's first class at the new university. And what's even worse, she was just seconds too slow to get to the door first, not checking if anyone else was heading for them. When her hand bumped into much darker one, her heart jumped - surely out of surprise - and her eyes flew up to his face. There was a feral look shifting in his blue eyes, even whole face, before it was swept away, quicker and more suddenly that she pulled her hand away.

Then, she recovered (Goddess, how long had she been standing there like a fool) and rushed through the doors, the witch with slight smile on her lips, following quickly behind. It was moments after that Saith rushed to open next doors for them and both women nodded quiet thanks to the man. "It seems like a... Mixed bag, so far," Silvana admitted, but with smile, "I do look forward to delving deeper into its contents, however." Her last words were nearly lost in the murmuring and noise inside the building and the group was suddenly pushed closer together, Saith's hand touching Mae who stiffened a little. What was with him and ignoring personal space??

"Same to you!" Silvana wished the strange man, strangely mischievous spark in her eyes. When the two women finally reached the classroom and the crowd was dissipating some, the two exchanged few more words. "Are all men weirdos, asses or mix of both here?" she inquired, making Lacrimae sigh softly. In a sudden flash of honestly, she replied: "Oh, don't even get me started." Both exchanged sympathetic looks and Silvana nodded, saying that it men in general usually fell only in such categories. With laugh, they bid good byes, feeling that perhaps a good friendship could be beginning to form here.

Silvana entered the class, feeling a lot of eyes on her, and moved to the middle of the auditory since back was, of course, filled by all those that hopped to snooze or chat through this boring class, and front was filled with either half-blind or sucker-ups. Her broom loyally followed her, settling down under the chairs. The professor entered, a man in his middle years, with distant and uncaring look in his eyes. He looked over the students and didn't stretch the intro long, talking about how lore was an important part of history and how important it was to discern truth from myth. The word 'important' swam up few more times and some students openly rolled their eyes.

As an introduction class, the professor chose The Great War of Dividing, particularly focusing on some of its best and worst heroes. Not even 5 minutes in, a tanned hand shot up. "Yes, miss...?" he asked with quirked eyebrow. "Stregheria. Silvana Stregheria."

"Ah, I do not have you in my list," the professor concluded after skimming the student list. "It is because I was flash-transferred to this university as part of exchange program from Medeis ex Natura university," she kindly explained and smirk tugged at professor's mouth and some students began whispering and snickering.

"Ah, from that self-acclaimed house of knowledge, I see, I see. Hopefully, you will see what true knowledge and enlightenment is, Miss Stregheria." Students snickered even louder now, but Silvana seemed unphased: "My university is good thousand years older than IGCTA and its taught subjects are so different in many ways they can be hardly compared." "Well, years mean absolutely nothing in some cases, only truth does... But what is it you wished to ask?"

"I did not want to ask anything, I merely wished to point out that Herleana the Black Feather did not betray the people that were not even hers at the end, as your version portrays. Instead, she left the Dark Mage, destroyer of Faith, to be judged and executed by the nation, although she had rights to kill him then and there. It was the Sword Bearer that razed the fields of war, erasing thousands of lives, both his side and the others. Black Feather tried to stop him, but using Orbs he turned her into a statue that resided in Hall of..."

"I do not know where you have found such clearly wrong information, but every book clearly states that Herleana, consumed by her hate towards human, used the orbs..." Professor was clearly frowning now.

"The Sword Bearer tried to put the blame on her, so explaining her disappearance, but at the time, the people saw through his tricks. Yet, the pages of chronicles that noted this were lost, as it is know, and only told of events up to his lies." At this, the professor silenced her and continued with the lesson, only to be interrupted again and again by Silvana. The other students were either amused or angered by this, but so far no one had fallen asleep. Perhaps it was due to the calm, but passion treaded way new student told of these past events, that they seemingly came alive before listener's eyes. Finally, the professor had enough.

"I have taught this subject for 20 years in this prestigious. ancient university and I will not allow myself to be ridiculed!" He was getting red by now, but Silvana remained composed. "You said it yourself that years mean nothing, only truth does."

"FINE! If you feel you know more about the subject more than I do, then teach this class!" he finally spat. Silvana smiled brightly at this: "As you wish, professor." She nearly floated down to the front of auditory, broom following her as the professor retreated to his desk and sat down. What followed next was literally magical story evolving before the eyes of students. The events came to life, like a movie, drawing in, as the witch told it with emotional tones, not a dry fact collage, and the people of times more ancient than anyone here could truly comprehend suddenly gained life and more dimensions, becoming close and understandable in their faults, mistakes, rare joys and despairs. And if any did remain nonchalant, then good deal groaned, disappointed when the bell rang and professor dismissed the class. His look clearly said this was not over, but it didn't seem Silvana truly cared.

She walked out in the corridor and stood by the window, checking her schedule and trying to figure out where she was to go next, because truth be told, the school was still quite confusing.

"Crikey!" rolled off his tongue as his head met the floor that was her suite. He didn't have much time to gawk or stare, but what he did see was a small room with dark colors. Seemed just like her. Oh, and of course he had a nice upper shot of her boobs--definitely an image worth remembering! "G'day, mate!" he chimed as he yawned.

Cain had no intention of leaving her room, but when he rolled over to feel his sore neck, her door slammed close and she offered words of threat to him. When her body swayed away from his, he smirked.

"Yeah okay, mate. Don't believe Miss Lacrimae would be so sweet for you. Unlike me, I've not been known to cause tra-ble." As he rolled up to his a feet, a few of the kids that shared her hall were nodding. "Am I not right?" he asked rhetorically.

"She's getting what she deserves. She thinks she owns this place. She doesn't. As far as I'm concerned, you're exactly what the student council president would order for her." This guy had spiky green hair and a lip ring. "So kick her ass, please."

Cheeky grin in tow, the pinkie smirked. "You can count on it, mate." And with that, he picked up his Fengir and ran off after the royal scarlet witch.

"So have you really been checking out my ass, love?" Naturally, Cain appeared out of nowhere just to pester the lovely redhead.

As Saith drummed his fingers on his jawline, a new face entered the room--or so he assumed as everyone seemed to awe or gasp before bursting into gossip. Rolling his eyes, he shifted them just enough to catch glimpse of the fawn-colored woman he previously saw with Lacrimae.

Really? She's in my class. Oi, Kev will be all over this.

Already lacking interest in the class, the drow just kept his attention out the window. He didn't need to listen to the lecture. He would just read the books for the reviews on this professor, courtesy of "www.ratemyprofessor.com" listed him as as a textbook tester.

It wasn't until about the third time that newcomer Silvana opened her mouth that Saith turned his attention toward the lecture. She was rambling on about the teacher being wrong and then explaining why she was right. As far as Saith could tell, they were both right and both wrong. Silvana's stories were wrapped in emotion whereas the professors were cut and dry. They were the same story, but told from different sides. It actually became interesting, that was until Silvana took over teaching.

Saith, having no interest in magical stories such as hers--he merely listened to compare tales--tuned out and went to where his thoughts were, asking Mae to dinner. It wouldn't be easy, namely because he would have to sneak her off campus and then back without anyone seeing them. After all, he didn't need a bigger rumor to start. All he wanted to do was pay her the thanks she needed and dinner, honestly, sounded like the fairest way to repay her for saving his life.

When the bell finally rang, the drow stayed put. Everyone filed out but he remained behind. "Professor," his voice was neither here nor there, "might I suggest using her stories to enhance your own? She tells them with emotion and romance, clearly from her kind's prospective. Why not do the reverse and tell the dry, harsh stories from your culture's point of view. It'll give us all a well-rounded approach to the lesson."

Now at the door, he flicked a hand back as a wave. "Just my two cents, that's all." Open hearing the professor's mouth open, the drow smirked. "I'm the only drow in class so it shouldn't be that hard to find me on the picture sheet. But the name's Saith."

With that, he stepped outside to see the foreign exchange student standing their with her face in a map. The way her brows laid made it perfectly clear that she was either lost or confused.

"What class do you have next?"

He didn't mean to sneak up on her; it more or less happened. "Ah, sorry," he spoke as if he had startled here. "Silvana, right?" Hand out, he waited for her to shake it (assuming she did). "The name's Saith. I can walk you to your next class, if you'd like. I don't have class until for the rest of today."

Leaning up against the wall, he cocked a brow at her. Saith was half-interested in learning more about this woman. One -- for Kev. And two -- because she seemed like the kind of woman Lacrimae would befriend, which meant another angle at getting close to the pretty blonde.

"Up to you," he shrugged.

"You need to have your dictionary updated, 'cause your 'trouble' definition is definitely lacking," she threw over her shoulder, not even caring that the whole floor of this dorm was dooming to the terrible fate of being pestered by the short, young man. By the ever-flowing blood, why they couldn't just mind their own bloody business? It's not like she minded theirs... All the time, at least. And of course, they loved to laugh and mock others, but pride forbid they fell to same treatment. Then she was the Devil-or-whatever incarnate. Ugh, people.

Not that all of it was worth even another thought. When the Aussie or something guy finally managed to get on her nerve, she'd get rid of him like all the other. He'd run screaming, adding to her reputation as a woman not to be messed with. But for now, he was not enough to be annoying. Just a tiny pain in the ass. Talking about asses... "Maybe in your dreams there's something worth checking out, Pinkie," Marwolaeth threw at him casually. She could ask him if he didn't have a class to miss, following her, but that'd be too much of bother, besides, why would she care if he marred his 'clean' record because of stalking her?

He wasn't entirely bad looking to be honest, but he certainly lacked in height. With her high heels and platforms, she towered over him even when the guy wasn't down on the ground. And pink hair? Ugh. Not because that was unmanly color, she just didn't like it in general. And all that childish wardrobe, making him look like he was 15 or something. At least that stupid stuffed animal (probably carried around because of some childhood abandonment trauma or whatever) was clean. Marwo didn't need to stare at him to notice those and more things, she was good at picking up details, facts.

Ponytail swaying side to side just as her own butt did, attracting more than few gazes, she went to her morning engineering class. There, she plopped in one of the further seats, preparing to be bored. Not that she didn't like this subject, but the professor was as slow as a half-bled turtle. She had finished reading the material for this course months ago, ugh. The woman also shamelessly ate some jelly beans, not willing to wait until lunch time for something sweet, but the professor never even noticed.

Silvana was alerted of his approach fast enough by her hearing (and the shifting of the broom) not to be startled by Saith's voice, but it did not mean she entirely expected him to talk with her. Rising her head, her amber colored eyes gazed thoughtfully at the drow for a moment, before the woman smiled. "Plant Biochemistry," she accepted his hand, giving a firm squeeze, but not a threatening one. "Silvana indeed. Nice to meet you properly, Saith. I would... Actually appreciate it, because of an accident on sport fields, the council president did not have time to show me directions to this building," she touched the map, "although I have a vague idea."

She followed Saith in smooth pace, the broom ever-loyal by her side. "I noticed your thoughts were..." her smile seemed all too knowing at this, "elsewhere after I accidentally 'hijacked' the lecture. I had not meant to, I do know the fight for a more truthful depiction of history is not to be fought with this man, or even within this university. Nor this fight is my true calling. So, your future classes will be safe, as I will drop this course - I have done mandatory course at Medeis already and I will not be graduating here anyway."

Her tone and expression was a direct and open one, simply stating facts and not requesting for excuses for his distracted behavior in any way. Perhaps because she already knew? There was probably more to this woman than it seemed at the first glance. Casually, she continued the conversation while keeping it on neutral grounds. "Mind if I ask what are you majoring in? I am student of biochemistry and pharmacological chemistry."

When they'd reach the building, she'd thank him for acting as guide and wish him a good day before disappearing inside.

Meanwhile, Lacrimae was sitting in the council room, looking through various papers regarding the new transfer student and also the obligatory ball. There was a headache forming in her temples and the woman sighed. Since everyone else in council already had dates, they somehow automatically assumed they had to make sure they still had them by time ball came around, so their time was consumed by dating and making eyes, not making sure the ball can actually happen. Although she hardly knew what a day off meant since she started attending here, it felt very tempting to ditch the piles of papers for at least few hours. But, no, she could not, not until she would...

Oh. Frowning disapprovingly at the traitorous (savior) water bottle that had somehow ended up empty already, Mae sighed softly and stood up. Time to visit one of the vending machines and get another one. No reason to get dehydrated over this.

"Ah, I believe I heard about that. One of my good friends mentioned something about an incident." Saith didn't want to say why his friend saw it--or that he was involved--so he just continued the conversation onto the next part.

"Yeah," he tried not to sound too dramatic, "you'll never find that building. It's inside another building. No idea why they would do that--architecture, who does that--but they did." He laughed before folding her map away. "You'll want to avoid following the path on your map. It'll put you on the wrong side of campus."

As they began walking, she made comments about his lack of interest in the class. "Oh, it's not your fault. I've been avoiding that class for six years. Never been one to really enjoy history or lore." Drawing a hand down his body, he went on. "I'm a drow. I'm naturally inclined to hate everyone and everything that isn't about me."

Now, if Silvana knew anything about drows (and he assumed she did), she would know that his blue eyes were unorthodox. Almost all drow, pure-blood or not, had those taunting crimson orbs. And yet, here one was with hair as white as snow, skin as black as tar, and eyes as blue as saphirre. Clearly an anomoly worth investigating at a later time, assuming a friendship were to be a path they sought.

"But don't feel required to drop it. You might actually make the class interesting." He did a double take on her class list. Didn't look like they would share classes, if she kept on this path. Granted, if she wanted to pick up another class, they could have some overlap.

About five minute later, they were almost at their destination.

"So the map would tell you to make a right here," he said while holding off on answering her question. "Don't. Go over." He walked across the bridge and now stood on the other side. Hand pointing, a large sign read "Plant Biochemistry," and a few other classes.

"Yeah, no idea why it wants you to go right. It'll take you to the food court and then it'll loop you around the backside of campus. Last I checked, you wanted to attend class... not play hookie." He laughed before giving her a smile. "Oh and I'm a part of the BS/MS Environmental Engineering degree program. I'd say I'll see you in class, as our majors have some overlap, but I'm supposed to graduate this summer." He pouted his lip. "Not really keen on graduating just yet since I'm not 100-percent sure what I want to do so I might stick around and dabble in some renewal energy and chemistry classes. Who knows," he said with a shrug.

"Anyway," he tore a piece of paper from his notebook, "if you get lost, I'm free the rest of today, assuming the student council president isn't available." Handing her his number, he gave Silvana a wave before walking off. "Enjoy your class and try to be nice to the professor," he said while sticking his tongue out in a teasing manner.

Before she knew it, the drow was gone. And if she didn't move fast enough, people might call her weird for standing there talking to no one. Saith was fast and, as expected, exceptionally gifted at becoming invisible. Not in the sense that he could just vanish-vanish, but in the sense that sometimes he was so speedy and nimble that people wouldn't notice him leaving, fleeing, or even existing in that area. Oh the woes of being a crafty drow!

Practically flying down the stairs (likely due to a great conversation which put him in a delightful mood), he made haste toward the dining area. As his stomach growled, he thought about what he was going to have for lunch today. The idea of a wrap and iced coffee sounded heavenly--a word he never thought he would utter internally! Clearly today was the day Saith was going to be a little less of an ass and a little bit kinder.

He really thought nothing of that until after he had his coffee in hand. Drow was making his way to the wrap cafe when it really hit him.

Why, why was he being extra nice. It was so out of his character. He was one notorious for being a dick. He was the bad boy of the school, and yet he didn't draft a single snide remark at Silvana. Was he ill?

Hand falling on his head, he crossed that off the list. So he wasn't sick. But what would really alter his life in such a way that he would be smiling.

SMILING?! Why was he smiling.

Brows furrowing, the man came to a dead, jerking halt. Sadly, it came a moment to late. His usually keen senses were off their rockers today and, before he knew it, his coffee (wait a minute, he asked for iced; this was hot!) was flying from his hands. Eyes, slowly widening, tried to second-guess the trajectory but failed miserably when a boob literally came out of nowhere.

Mouth ajar, hand on boob, and coffee (might I add scolding hot coffee) on his hand and her blouse, Saith just... well, he didn't know what to do.

Blinking calmly, he retrieved his ill-fated hand and wiped the hot contents from his flesh. It burned, but not nearly as much as the poison he contracted from last night's incident.

Last night?!

It all made sense. Had Mae's magical powers caused his change of heart? It had to! There was no other explanation. He would hunt her down and demand she give him back his lack of morals and ethics!

Directing his azure orbs up, he finally spied the woman who shared in the coffee kerfuffle. And, much to his surprise, it was her.

"Are you serious," he chided to himself. Only, upon realizing it was indeed her, the woman who saved his life and possibly changed his heart, a blush crossed his cheeks. Did he really just grab her boob?

He had nothing. No quick retort. No witty comeback. No nothing. So what did he do?

He laughed. He just laughed, which caused the already spying eyes to turn away.

"Wow, that was a good one," he said aloud, as if this was all rehearsed. "I hope the camera crew caught that on film. You know, for the bloopers reel!"

At this point, Saith was just trying to get the media off them. He figured maybe talking about a video would do the trick. There were rumors flying around campus of auditions for some campus shorts--things to attract new students and show what campus life was like. It only made sense that the school include multiple species and personalities and, let's face it, Saith and Mae were about as opposite as they came.

As the eyes fell away and the ears tuned them out, Saith's hands moved toward the woman but fell short. "Can we talk," he gestured away from the student-filled area. "In private," he continued.
