I just started this site and I'm already having a tough time getting money just to get clothd ed in the first place! About how long does it take to start getting a nice collection of things? I'm assuming it'll be a bit easier due to the different ways gold is given here, when compared to Gaia. In Gaia it took me forever to get anything, and I mostly never did end up getting what I wanted. I'd always change my mind... Ha!

Well, here it's just a matter of being active and posting a lot. Selling art and graphics is also a good idea. People love avatar art and art in general. Also, getting some DI's and selling them a few months after new DI's come out is a good idea. I know people who can't afford mennies like to buy DI's for a ridiculous amount of gold. Depending on how long youi come on, stay on, and post, really you should be up and ready to start buying within a day or two. Once you get around 1,000 to 2,000 gold, you can buy ALMOST anything in the commons area, at lest. But to get a good, healthy collection of items you really, really have to be a dedicated user. I near worship menewsha so my inventory is pretty good for someone only a couple months old, but around a year or less you could have enough items for at least a good twenty avatars, given you never sell back any items.
