Rosemary mentally scolded herself.she should have known better.think fast... "I have very good hearing.someone said your name earlier and pointed over here, so I figured they must have meant you." She said.in truth, it was a spirit nearby who had called out the child's name, and Rosemary had repeated it by mistake.it was a mistake she had made often as a child, and hadn't made in a long time.i'm too tired, and hungry.I wouldn't have messed up like that if I were at 100 percent. she thought to herself.

"oh" Raina said, "Okay"

Orpheus sighed, "so are you interested in...." he had to force the next words out hardly able to talk about them "buying" his daughter like a piece of property, "buying the girl?" Part of him wanted them to go away, wanted it to take as long as it possibly could to find someone to buy her, so he didn't have to lose his daughter yet, but he guessed that Poseidon would treat Raina a lot better than most of the other people here, and that was the important thing.

Rosemary looked up.it seemed like the man was having some trouble making the sale.maybe he's being forced to sell her.well, I'll make sure she's taken care of. she thought."so, Raina, can we be friends?"

Raina nodded, "But I don't wanna leave" she said in a voice a little above a whisper, gripping Orpheus hand.

Orpheus looked down at her, "Raina......"

Rosemary nodded."I know.but maybe we can have visits, like on your birthday.then you can see him even while you stay with us." She suggested, looking up at Poseidon questioningly.

Poseidon nodded, "Of course"

Raina looked from Rosemary to Poseidon and back again, "you'll let me do that?"

Rosemary nodded."im sure my master wont mind too much." She said.

Raina nodded, "O-okay"

"Good.master? Can we take care of my new friend?" Rosemary asked, looking up at Poseidon.

Poseidon nodded, "and you don't need to call me that" he added softly.

Rosemary nodded."right.sorry.im just so used to it..." she said softly,then turned to Raina."its time to go now.you want to say bye to him?" she asked,indicating the girls father.

Raina's eyes filled with tears again as she looked at her father.

Orpheus knelt down next to her, hugging her tightly, "You must be brave my kitten" He pulled two small objects out of his pocket, "take these" One was a picture of Raina sitting in his lap while her mother stood beside them, smiling. The other was a slim golden chain with a gold heart dangling from it, "This was my mother's, when she gave it to me she told me to give it to my daughter" Of course Orpheus thought, Mother will be furious if she ever finds out that I gave her necklace to the half-human child of a slave girl but what she doesn't know won't hurt her He was barely holding back tears.

Rosemary backed off to let the pair have their goodbye.it was something she never got with her parents.

Orpheus kissed his daughter cheek, "I love you my Raina"
"I love you to Daddy" Raina said softly. He fastened the necklace around her neck, " goodbye Raina, I will always be with you in your heart no matter how far apart we are" He straightened up and looked at Rosemary and Poseidon.

Rosemary took the girls hand and smiled gently."I'll make sure to keep her safe.I promise, I'll be like a big sister, a protector." She said, her voice earnest.

Orpheus nodded, "Thank you" he looked at Poseidon, "and If i ever find out you've hurt my daughter, I will rip you to pieces"

Poseidon half-smiled, "Of course, I'd do the same thing"

Rosemary looked up at Poseidon. "Where exactly do you live? Will we see it soon? Do you have other slaves?" The questions flowed out of her like water that had been dammed up too long.

Poseidon held up his hands laughing, "whoa, whoa, whoa, one at a time, my house isn't to far away and no I don't have any other....slaves, for lack of a better word as for where it is well its easier if you see for yourself."

Rosemary tilted her head,wondering what he could mean,but shrugged and let it go.it didnt matter,really,since she didnt have any choice.he had bought her,which made him her master and her his slave,no matter what he called it.

"Follow me" Poseidon picked Raina up as they began to walkaway.

Even though she had agreed to go with them Raina panicked as they started to walk away, she started screaming and crying and beating on Poseidon's chest with her fists, "NO! NO! NO!"

"Sir, please, let me walk with her.maybe I can calm her down." Rosemary pleaded, hating to hear the child cry."Raina, please don't cry.here, hold my hand, little sister.im scared, too.we can help eachother." She soothed, trying to get the child to hear her.

Poseidon put Raina down, "Listen to Rosemary little one, all will be well" He brushed his hand over her hair.

"Here, Raina, let's hold hands little sister.I promise to take care of you." Rosemary said, reaching out for her new sisters hand.

Raina took Rosemary's hand timidly, "I miss my daddy and my mommy"

Rosemary gave Raina's hand a gentle squeeze."I know.I know."
