It was another fantasy movie made by Jim Henson and Frank Oz.

I think you should definitely watch it, it's worth the time. (Plus it's a classic!) Probably know every single line of it.
I personally love the film, and it has been a favourite of mine since my childhood. David Bowie in those tight pants is just woah, not to mention his attire, and cruel but seductive personality!
Watch out for the ballroom scene, if you’e anything like me and like masquerades then you’ll love it.

I’ve seen the dark crystal too, but I don’t think it is as good in my opinion however it’s still a great film overall.

I adore this movie! It has a great storyline and the visuals on it are fun and whimsy... if you havent seen it you definatly should. It is a touching story in my opinion and the music is fun... definatly a fairy tale come to life.

It has a cult following, but it was rejected by the general public for a reason. It takes a special kind of person to appreciate it.

@Ivvy: I watched it a couple months ago (and forgot to mention it here...)
It was okay for me. I didn't go crazy for it, but I thought the contact juggling was cool.

@Vox: Oh, I read that up on Wiki before watching it. What do you mean though? Cults as in... people gathering up and worshiping the Goblin King? :/

I love the Labyrinth <3
It was is my families movie, we all used to get together at my grandma's and watch it together :)

I am actually trying to convince my fiance that we should dance to "As the World Falls Down" for our first dance at our wedding.

Haha, took you a while, but I'm thinking it was worth it. It's got a lot of great elements, doesn't it? I love that Terry Jones was attatched to it.

@Imagine: I know what a cult is, I've just never seen the Labyrinth cult in action before.
@Biggles: Yeah, I always kept forgetting about it until one day I was like THAT'S IT I NEED TO GET THIS OUT OF THE WAY. And I liked the (sort of) moral about how to appreciate things the way they are.

If David Bowie is the Goblin King, I wouldn't mind being stuck over there.

Haha, no, not an actual cult.

I must say, this was a great movie. I protested it when my mother told me I should watch it but, then I watched it and really liked it. The world was well thougt out and so was the plot. Fushigi totally got their idea from this movie.

It's not just Fushigi. It's contact juggling in general. It might have been around at that time but I guess the movie really utilized the juggling well. :o

Yes, Labyrinth is made of win. Totally in my top ten favorite fantasy movies of all time. Personally, I've always enjoyed it for the fact that even though there's a female lead, she doesn't end up being strangled by the red string and falling in love with someone by the end of the movie. I do enjoy the tension between the heroine and the Goblin King though. :)

And yes, David Bowie is a sexeh man.

You might also try Mirrormask. It's also by Jim Henson, but it's a tiny bit darker than Labyrinth. It also doesn't have a lot of puppets, it uses some early CGI.

I watched this whenever i was younger, and the puppets sort of scared me (they look alot like the Ms. Piggy, Animal, and Kermit the Frog puppets as well as the Seseme Street ones.) But I went back and watched the movie again a year or two back, and loved it. I mean, it had David Bowe! How could i not love it? He sings, he (sort of) dances, and wears a 'glamor band' 'hair metal' type of outfit, like the 80s/90s musicians would wear (and he was.) I recomend watching it.

I would say it was a very good movie. I would personally recoommend it. The scenes are amazing, the music is catchy. The puppetry/characterization is GLORIOUS. Just... don't ask about the green-screen effects... they're obvious. Just get past the 'head switching' weird part of the movie ^^;

It has some extremely memorable parts *insert Jareth package joke here*. And the costume design and cute owls are to die for ^^ Good movie, I have friends who practically idolize it. Still worth a watch.

Also recommend the Dark Crystal if you like Jim Hensons. And, unrelated, the Last Unicorn, just because it's awesome and if you like magical nostalgic movies.
