"I saw Hiei on the balcony last night," Winter blurted out after a moment of quiet. "I think he got into my head. I could see the eye glowing under the headband."

"Oh hell." Peggy's head dropped forward for a few moments. "Well, okay, still not the worst that could have happened, no one's been hurt yet."

"I swear I nearly had a heart attack," Winter said. "I went out there and it was nice and quiet and I look over and he's just sitting there on the rail staring at me." She shook her head. "I have no idea why I didn't just assume he'd be out there to begin with, since this IS Kurama's place. But it scared the bejesus out of me."

"I bet." Peggy was quiet for a moment. "You know, just because we know so much doesn't mean we know everything," she pointed out. "So there's not really a reason for you to assume he'd be there, apart from the universe being evil. He does have his own life, after all, I'm sure he doesn't stay here with Kurama all the time."

"No, I think it made perfect sense that he was there," Winter said, shaking her head. "I mean, first, he was probably keeping an eye on Yukina, so he probably saw us there with her, and then we get dropped here where arguably his closest friend lives. Makes perfect sense to me that he'd be hanging around."

Peggy shrugged. "Either way, going to be something we're going to have to get used to," she said. "Doesn't matter how much we've watched, living it is another matter entirely."

"I know, and knowing what we do know doesn't seem to be helping," Winter agreed. She rolled her shoulders a bit. "Stilll feels kind of weird here, too. Not that I'm surprised, what were they by the end of the series, high A's? Not quite S's?"

"I think so, but they all still had upward potential," Peggy said. "So it's quite possibly they're all in S territory now."

"Which is terrifying, if you think about it," Winter said. "Just the sheer power."

"No kidding. I'm pretty sure I can feel it, too." Peggy made a face. She shut up in a hurry when Kurama came back in, though.

Fortunately, they got a bit of respite after that, and headed back to the temple the next day. Of course, their respite was only temporary, because the team was suspicious and Genkai wasn't in the habit of keeping this type of secret, especially not when people had suspicions already and the truth was bound to come out sooner or later.

Unsurprisingly, Yusuke was the first one to descend on the temple.

"So, level with me, what exactly is going on?" he said once he'd found Genkai and managed to pretend to corner her. "And don't tell me it's none of my business, because it got made my business when you made me babysit them."

"Oh I plan on telling you," Genkai said, glowering up at him. "But I'd rather not have to repeat myself all day, so you can sit your ass down until everyone else gets here."

"What?" Yusuke asked. "How is that fair?"

"You can relax, Yusuke," Kurama said from the door as he came in. "We're here." He nodded to Genkai in greeting. "Master Genkai."

"Kurama. Hiei." Genkai nodded to the two. "Have a seat. This will take some explaining."

"I suspect as much," Kurama said as he sat down. Yusuke also sat down, although less gracefully.

"So what's going on, grandma?" Yusuke asked.

"You all know the two girls who are staying here temporarily," Genkai said, looking at them. "What you don't know is that they came from another world, on accident. This is not their world. One of them has a very rare talent, teleporting, and accidentally broke through the barrier and ended up here."

Yusuke blinked at that.

"Run that by me again?" he asked.

"Teleporting," Kurama mused. "Fascinating. Though one must wonder how they ended up here. Hiei did mention that they knew more than they should."

"Yes, teleporting," Genkai agreed. "Do try to keep up, dimwit." She paused for a moment before she decided to hell with it and just told them. "Where they come from, Yusuke's early career as the spirit detective was a TV show."

Yusuke choked on air.

"What?" he yelped. "A TV show?" He snickered, and it quickly turned into full on laughing. "You must finally being going senile, old hag, there's just no way."

Hiei's eyes narrowed. That actually made a certain amount of sense, actually.

"You may not have noticed, Yusuke, but those girls know more than they should without anyone telling them," Genkai snapped.

"Yeah?" Yusuke asked. "Like what? Cause they didn't say anything to me, and I'm still kind of a big deal."

"Hiei and I overheard them talking," Kurama said. "Some of the things they said... They shouldn't have known any of it."

"They know about the Dark Tournament," Hiei piped up. "One of them could even see my Jagan." He crossed his arms over his chest. He still wasn't happy about that.

"No kidding?" Yusuke said. "Huh. Now that you mention it, they did seem kinda spooked when they got dumped on me."

Genkai nodded. "Indeed," she agreed. "But they're here now, for some reason. I figured you should know, because you'll find out eventually anyway."

"So you're saying they know everything?" Yusuke asked. "How much of everything? Which early cases are we talking?"
