We got an adult dog from an abussive home onece geting dogs like that to trust you is difficult, and once you do you must still be carefull not to do anything that the dog considers thretening. Many times you don't know what the dog finds thretening untill you do it, and then you have to wait for the dog to trust you agian. Sorry have been a pet owner all my life and my Mom was big on responicbility for the pets you bring into your home.

its not a puppy. i just call all dogs puppies-the age doesn't matter to much to me. and besides this isn't the first time we have had dogs. i was practically raised around them.

Sorry vulpi I didn't meing to insult you. I've just been around alot of people that get a dog with few ideas of what it takes. I want a pug myself I've been runing reserch into the breed. I would also like a Mastif but am probably going to move into an apartment and apartments are not good for large breeds.

I call all dogs puppies too.
My dog is my puppy, even though he's ~11 years old. xD

i hear ya and i know you didn't mean to. but we have already have had 2 mutt, 3 dalmatian, a shit-zu(excuse spelling), and a Japanese Akita.

I have mostly mutts. The abbused dog we had, (she died of old age) was an American Escemo. One dog we have now Smokey (if I ever find out who owned his mom I will hurt them) is a stunted Newfindland cross. He was stunted becaus of major malnutrition to him and his littermates while they were nursing, so we know theire mother was malnurished. He and his litter mates were abbandoned by the side of the road. They were lucky to be found by a person who worked at a farm store. That person took them to work and they were given to the customers who wanted them. Smokey and his litermates were aproxemetly four weeks old at the time of theire abandonment. Smokey had a verry bad case of worms, and when we bread him with an Austrialn Cattle dog mix his smallest puppy was bigger at birth than he was at three months. His life has been shortend by the rough begining he had. Sorry for the vent but I love that dog and every time I think about what happend to him, his mother, and his litter mates I see red.
