I had a hard time!

It wasn't that I was trying to be stupid, or do all these top notch experienced things. I just tried to learn my way around the site. And I got lost pretty quickly.

What were some things you found/find hard to understand, do or catch onto?

I found and still find posting in forums really hard to discern. Like figuring out WHERE to post specific topics and how to put certain things all together and still get them all noticed. Posting several polls together and such.

How-to threads do not always help.... It's like they're trying to hit you in the face with such obvious information but somehow it manages to fly right over your head.

So, any near-banned stories to tell? Or maybe just things you might be able to help someone out with now once you got experience in an area you had a really difficult time with. Or maybe some of you STILL have questions and need the answers from regular site-goers and not Menewsha Mods (bless their souls) who are too busy to explain it in idiot-speak.

:U There was someone that got banned for having a signature that was too big.

There was a lot of other small infractions that led up to this final one being the straw that broke the camel's back, but still.

I can't say I was particularly proud of that decision going out.

I remember I read the TOS and stickies over and over because I was paranoid of posting in the wrong place.
But that's about it, you'll get the hang of it once you start posting more often. :3

Poet didnt read the rules more than once. Poet goes by their universal rule of not pissing anybody off.

Haha, the mods chat almost as much if not more than some of us XD

The mods always have time to explain things in simple terms for people, so if you ever need a hand don't hesitate to ask them! :) They're all lovely too.

Once you explore the site a bit more it's easy enough to get into the swing of things and deciding where things go :)

I'm pretty new, so I really don't know much about the site.

@ butt - It takes time just like moving into a new home. ^.^ everything will be in a new place.
Typically I start small and chose a few forums to visit and expand slowly

Whoa whoa, when was that? I hope during the much harder time we had when it was "3 strikes you're out."

If it was during our now more lenient way of doing things, then ....

The only bans I've seen were people who started to fight with the staff... o.o

The only thing I ever got in trouble about was for forgetting to put some stuff in quotes.

Actually I'm not even sure what the last infraction I got was for...I probably should have asked, but too late now since it's been like 2 years.

....Actually I take that back it's been over three years.

@Poet: That seems odd.

@BBR: I got infracted for that too.

@Dys: Ah okay. Makes sense then.

For me, the hardest thing to catch onto has been that damned octopus in Harbor Fishing.

But in all seriousness...I'm still pretty new, but I've found Mene to be a pretty easy place to adapt to. The one thing that I have trouble with still is being really overly cautious in regards to not looking like I'm cheating for gold by interacting with my one partner who lives with me. I mean...how do I decide when something I say in a thread is something I would be just as good saying in person?

But whatever. We're both having more fun with us both here, so it's worth the worry.

@ Iku - No I'm not. :c Its a valid response to the person's question. Even if its one that Mene would rather forget.

It just seemed like it when you presented an old situation that occurred under very different guidelines.
Bad for business, as it were.

Someone new reading that may end up thinking that we're super strict and ban people simply for having large signatures when that's not the case at all now.

Wha? We're not supposed to show them how strict we are? *hides the whips and chains* Why didn't anyone tell me? D:

In all seriousness I usually mention that menewsha is a bit stricter via jokes. Implying whips and chains and other implements of destruction. They never take it seriously

That wasn't my intention. Still, cleared up now, ain't it?

Too bad its a tad too late for the person that got banned, but.

@Dys: I was just stating how it reads, regardless of your intention. It's obvious I didn't know your intention. And I wasn't trying to get on you about it so I hope you don't feel that way. My comment about you scaring the new folks wasn't meant in a serious manner. But indeed it is cleared up! That's what inquiring does. It clears things up.

@Poet: They are!

A good thing to keep in mind unless you get a PM from me about something. Better take that seriously!
