AprilX

April

1. Watched A Knight's Tale with my flatmates

2. We got a new couch! Goodbye backbreaking monstrosity, hello excellent comfort.

3. Super productive day. Art, writing, job, game making, cooking, AND study all got done. And I woke up at 11am!

4. University has started back after the Easter break now, and so I spent about seven hours on campus today. So tired.

5. Yet another hectic day, uni for just over four hours and work for about five. It's going to be one of those weeks.

6. I'm just tired

7. Decided to stay at home and look after myself today. Managed to write a chapter of my novel

8. Two days until I'm running a tabletop rping game for the first time at a con. I am so not prepared.

9. I'm a lot more prepared now, and I start my first game in nine hours! Holy shit!

10. Game went ok, and I also got to see a film from Sundance, so that's a good day in all!

11. Mondays are the worst. Five consecutive hours of class is enough to do my head in.

12. Watched Little Miss Sunshine for the first time today

13. Bought a DVD of The Force Awakens, and also got some marks back. I'm not doing too badly yet.

14. Quiet wee day, up early for class, then back to bed late because I got distracted by the internet

15. Saw a weird play, had tea with some friends, and had a long night at work

16. Went out to a comedy show and had a couple of good laughs. Tried Fejoa and Passionfruit cider, turns out it's delicious.

17. Cheeky glass of wine at work tonight (the boss gave it to me, we're cool). Also, started reading a new book

18. Lecturer told me she liked my research proposal!

19. Prompt: My next holiday. I'm going to Wellington in June!!!

20. Went shopping, and wore my binder for the first time in ages. Also saw Allegiant in theatres.

21. Finished an assignment that has been killing me all week.

22. Went to see a dance performance!

23. TV. Videogames. Work. The usual.

24. Was supposed to go out for dinner tonight but ended up getting called into work

25. Did actually manage to get out for dinner tonight! Also watched the new Game of Thrones with my flatmates

26. Burned my thumb badly on the oven tonight

27. Walked down to the movie theatre and watched the Jungle Book today

28. Informed last minute of my work shift tonight and it turns out I can cycle to work in less than half the time it takes to walk.

29. Did a lot of writing today, around four thousand words or more

30. More writing. Woohoo!

MarchX

March

1. Went "speed dating" with the university's queer network today, and ended up bruising my hand helping a german exchange student hop a fence.

2. Today was a little more laid back, spent 3 hours annotating a short story I was reading for class. Did little else.

3. My flatmate performed his musical comedy in a cabaret show and I went to that tonight. On the way home we stopped in for waffles at a hole in the wall Pizza place.

4. Went out dancing tonight, at first as part of the university's lgbtq group, and then out into town with a small group from there. Walked home at two thirty in the morning, and collapsed into bed.

5.The most exciting thing that happened all day today was finding a new cat on Neko Atsume

6. Went to a play tonight. "Tales from the Tabletop". It was pretty great- then stayed up talking for a good few hours with my flatmates.

7. Fact - I am a sedentry motherfucker. Seriously I think I've been reading fanfiction for five hours...

8. Went to my second trial for a waitressing gig and got the job! Go me!

9. Attended the dress rehearsal for a play my flatmate is in, and got up too early in order to go to class.

10. Became the website manager of my university's literary society

11. Did a solid amount of writing today. No other achievements really.

12. SOMEONE STOLE OUR WASHING LINE. HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN?

13. I got my first ever tip today

14. Walked into class today an hour late and eating a samosa because of an unexpected meeting.

15. Probably the most exciting thing to happen today was the chicken noodle soup I made for dinner. I live the high life.

16. Saw the film Pride, cried.

17. Got complimented by a lecturer and watched Sense8 with my flatmates

18. A friend arrived from out of town and we went cosplay shopping for Armageddon expo tomorrow

19. HUGE DAY. Armageddon from early in the morning, then out for dinner, and off to a party. I was home and awake for around two hours in the whole day

20. Spent most of the day in bed, but I did clean my bedroom and go to work

21. Watched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind today for class, and also lettered a poster for the Literary Society

22. Dropped my phone in a puddle today and killed it

23. Couple of things today, went to the theatre with my flatmate then went to the midnight screening of Batman Vs Superman alone

24. Did some work for the literary society today, and handed in my first important assignment for my classes

25. Discovered an INCREDIBLY long fanfiction and went out to dinner with a couple of friends

26. Continued reading aforementioned fanfiction, and ate the hot cross buns that a local church brought to our door

27. I had lunch with my flatmate and a friend, and spent some time just having a good chat with those two

28. And in the morning, I made WAFFLES

29. It was my flatmate's birthday today, and we went to her parent's house for dinner

30. Bought a phone with actual running capabilities today. Gonna be broke this week, but that's worth it.

31. Only real thing I did today was work, but I did get a decent sized tip tonight so there's that.

FebruaryX

FEBRUARY

1. Discovered a new little cafe today. Well, it's not that little, but it is nice. They do a great lemon and ginger tea, and a peanut butter and chocolate slice, both delicious. I imagine I will be going back there.

2. Took a particularly long bus trip today. It was not a fun time.

3. Today was really full on, but really great. I had lunch with a friend, saw two separate art galleries, and went to a restaurant just for dessert and a cocktail. Expensive day, but so worth it for the memories.

4. Flew to Auckland today, from Christchurch. Read a whole book on the flight too, which takes my book count for the year so far to NINE.

5. Art Gallery time again! I wandered around alone and had a look at both the Art Gallery and the Museum in Auckland, which are pretty excellent.

6. Today is Waitangi Day, the day where New Zealand celebrates (and discusses) the Treaty of Waitangi which began the road to peace between the colonists and the Maori people of New Zealand. Also, in more personal news, I GOT TO SEE WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE LIVE!!!

7. Flew back to Christchurch today, not much else went down.

8. Bus rides between my home and Christchurch suck, like a lot. Also, I got fed dinner by my flatmate's mum, even though said flatmate wasn't there.

9. Home sweet home means a day in bed. Caught up on all my TV shows too, because Priorities.

10. Finished (finally) getting my room in the new house sorted. Only took three weeks...

11. Helped my little brother to move into his flat, which was pretty cool. Also took my book challenge up to ten.

12. Started my Full On February extended word sprint today (that's not a thing, I just made it up). The idea is that I'll be writing 3k words a day until university goes back on the 29th! No pressure! But the first day went well.

13. Today I went to a local market, which was cute and awesome. I also made a leafy impulse purchase, and now own a bonsai tree named Popcorn. Yikes, no writing though.

14. Valentines! So I took myself out for a date with my laptop and wrote a chapter, then after dinner I cosied up by myself and watched a sad movie.

15. Baked a cake and sat at home enjoying the sun, then stayed up too late talking to my flatmates.

16. Today I got insurance for the first time. I also spent an hour and a bit wandering around the local museum and updating my snapchat story with bad jokes about taxidermy.

17. I was a bit unwell today, so I mostly just hung out in bed.

18. I've started binge watching the 100. It's an all consuming job.

19. Wandered around the local art gallery, took my total read books for the year to 12, and did some more decoration of my bedroom.

20. Off to a "pop-punk pizza party" tonight, so I'm updating early afternoon instead of tonight.

21. Last night's party killed my head so I spent this morning in bed, but this afternoon I went with some friends down the beach with some dogs. It was awesome.

22. Some friends arrived to visit from out of town today, and we went for a trip down to the harbour, sat on a pontoon and talked for hours. It was lovely, and beautiful.

23. Decided to get a bit touristy with said friends, went out for breakfast at a local cafe, checked out the tropical butterfly enclosure at the museum, and went for another trip to the beach before staying up until 2am playing card games.

24. Out for breakfast again, this time to the cafe in the cadbury factory.

25. Inside day today, but I did bake cookies. First lectures tomorrow.

26. I had my first lectures today. They weren't much, just a "hey how are you, this is a university" thing, but it still made the whole thing seem more real.

27. One work trial down for this new job, one to go. Bring on next Saturday.

28. Cleaned my room in preparation for the term starting tomorrow.

29. I am officially a University Student once more, in that I have attended classes again. It's like riding a bike almost, but not metaphorically, the real kind, where your butt hurts, and your calves ache because it's hard and you're rusty.

JanuaryX

JANUARY

1. New year's resolutions. I've always kind of hated these, they feel like a way of setting yourself up for failure. But this year I want to stop assuming that I will lose automatically. Start believing in myself, and start taking control of my life, so here I go.
My new year's resolutions this year are to finish my novel, work on either my art or my writing every day, and not to give up so often. 14 days to go until my move!

2. Today was my first day off from work since Christmas Eve, so I made a cake, and drank more tea than I had any reason to. I need to start packing for my move soon. 13 days to go!

3. Not much has happened today, but I have started my book challenge for the year. I'm currently reading "This Changes Everything" by Naomi Klein. I want to finish it by the time I shift. 12 Days!

4. Today has been nice and quiet, I just got inside after sitting in the sun for half an hour or so reading my book, and now I'm off to do some writing. Tomorrow I'm planning to be /slightly/ more productive and actually start the packing process. 11 Days until I move cities. It's coming up fast!

5. Went full millennial today and walked down to the local beach with the sole intention of taking photos for my new Tinder account. It was actually really nice down there, so I ended up taking just as many photos of the beach itself, and a couple of birds. I still have sand between my toes. 10 days until the move.

6. Today was boring, and there's a blank wall to my left, so I'm going to go back a few days and do the "my kitchen" prompt. But in a sort of dreamy, future planning way because I spend too much time on pintrest and live with my parents. What I really want is a big oven, with space to bake multiple things at a time. Lots of bench space, and cupboards I don't need to stand on a stool to reach the top of. I really like hosting parties as well, so a breakfast bar/open plan system is a must. And there are 9 days until I move!

7. Tried Thai curry for the first time today. I don't think it's for me, I'm a real potatoes kind of person when it comes to food. But it isn't bad, so I'll happily eat it again if I'm invited somewhere with friends to eat it. Oh! One week left of work- 8 days until the move! It's getting so close. I should really start packing.

8. Watched The Good Dinosaur in 3D on my way home from work today. I walk past the cinema every day so if there's a movie on when I go past I often pop in and watch it. It was pretty cute, and I feel a pressing need to get a wallpaper with a picture of a T-rex saying "it's scary but do it anyway" for my laptop. ONE WEEK UNTIL I MOVE.

9. So today I decided I ought to pack. But my thought process was along the lines of "I'll watch a movie and pack". I sort of packed, but definitely watched Magic Mike XXL. Better movie than the first, that's for sure. In one week I will be in my new house, unpacking!

10. I spent this afternoon copying recipes from my parents' recipe books into my own one. (It's a princess Leia journal, and I keep a list of my friends' dietary requirements in the back. Remember when I said I like entertaining?) Tomorrow is my day off, and I'm having coffee with a friend and doing most of my packing up for the move. Only 5 Days to go...

11. Read a whole book today (well, tonight really) as well as packing nearly all of my things. Very productive day on the whole. I only have three days left at my job!

12. Didn't do much besides work today, so you're gonna hear about my current jam. If you don't know about it already, there's a new musical on broadway called Hamilton. And I have honestly been listening to the cast recording on repeat since mid November. Do yourself a favour and listen to it. Seriously.

13. Starting acquiring my required reading for the semester today. 5 books down, 6 to go. And tomorrow is my last day of work!!!

14. LAST DAY OF WORK! Also, the length of the second 300 movie > the time it takes to pack 90% of my crap into a trailer.

15. First leg of the move today, and I am absolutely worn out already, so I am lying in bed reading Casino Royale and rolling my eyes at Bond as he smokes 70 cigarettes a day and insults women constantly. What a charmer.

16. I have officially moved in! Expect pictures in a few days when the internet gets connected, but for now I am tooo tired to make that happen from my cellphone alone.

17. Today was pretty great, went for a nice long walk to get to know my new city, including spending half an hour at the museum, and finished off with Starbucks and home made pizza with my friend (who I also now live with)

18. It rained today, and I didn't do much at all. Bliss.

19. Busy Day. Job Hunting, reading, and I actually went to the gym for the first time in years and I think I will definitely be going back.

20. Today was quite cool. I dropped in on an English class at the uni, and later on went to a seminar on body decomposition, which was quite awesome.

21. Today two things of note happened in my home. The first is that I fell down the stairs. This is unsurprising, because they are incredibly steep, and my shoes have next to no grip. The second is that we finally have wifi! No more mobile updates! So soon you'll get those pictures I promised of the new room.

22. So today was pretty sweet. First of all, I spent like 50% of the day catching up on mah shows. Which I had missed because no internet. Secondly I went out, like a person with a life, to a gig at a pub. And that was pretty great, even though I knew nobody there.

23. Didn't do much today, so it's prompt o'clock. Today's prompt is keys. I have three keys on my keyring, all to my house. Boring, really. I also have a bottle opener, which is fun because I barely drink, and it is even rarer for me to drink something without a screw cap.

24. Today I went for a walk and saw the steepest street in the word. No. Really.

25. Oh man, partied a little too hard tonight. Gonna just lie down for a sec...

26.Unsurprisingly I have spent most of today hungover. Go me.

27. Went in and got my 2016 student ID today. Holyshitthisisreal

28. Today's Prompt was Snowball. It's summer, so I'm gonna talk about how I just downloaded Neko Atsume for my phone and how cute the kitty called Snowball is. it just plays with the rubber ball, and it's adooooorable.

29. I finished part 2 of the first draft of my novel today. I'm pretty flipping happy with that result, too. Only one more part to go and the whole draft will be finished. Goal: Finish the whole first draft by May

30. Today I did some budgeting for my trip to Auckland for the Welcome to Night Vale live show. Only three more nights and I am gonna be off on another adventure!

31. D is for Disaster, which is how my room looks right now. Such a mess.

An update to my resolutions:
- Live more offline, less online
- Take more selfies
- Take pride in how I dress
- Eat healthier, drink more water, and maybe lose some weight.

I kind of want to try it just once...and it would be over a body of water with some lifeguards nearby to save me if the rope snaps and I start to drown

Something I am really really scared to do is skydiving...I mean at least with bungee jumping, you fall into the water and people can come save you. But what if you are skydiving and the parachutes keep getting tangled? I don't know what I would do...and I don't know if they have precautions in place to save you in that case.

I think that parachutes are packaged up really (really) carefully so that doesn't happen. And actually in bungee jumping you don't fall into the water usually, you dip into it on your first bounce, then you slow down and when you've basically come to a stop you are lowered quite carefully into a boat.

Ah well both sound scary to me now, haha. I think for bungee jumping maybe they can shorten the rope so that you don't actually fall into the water? Because it would kind of be your head being submerged only, right? I don't like the idea of having my head upside down underwater all of a sudden
