You know the stitch line on pants? You can replace them with tiny maple leaf designs. It will be tiny, yes, but no need to be detail, just resemble the main shape.
Check out on other pant or shirt component, where you can replace things with the leaf.

For fabric, there are a few way of designing.
Either by folds. Cutting. Shape. and additional.
Additional includes the sparkly sequins, printed image, frills, lace...etc.
Folds, is how the fabric overlap or pinch together.

Maple leaf stitch? That might make for a nice shirt.

Folds and pinching... do you know any good tutorials of that? Been struggling with that.

Do you use a program with layers? If so - I would suggest doing a simple shorts on on layer...then do the maple leaf pocket xuvvie was talking about on a different layer so you can erase easier. I don't use layers - which means I constantly erase parts and have to rebuild everything each time XD

This will allow you to get the shorts part done...and then you can focus on the details. Do the main simple shorts part first.

I usually use paint. I've found gimp is really glitchy with color selection >.<
Are there any other free programs out there like gimp that layer?

I'm one of those crazy people that doesn't name their layers though... XD

But mostly what I use gimp for is layering it over the avatar for modifications and then making the background transparent so that it shows just like it will on menewsha

All the gimps I've ever used looked the same to me.

There are different versions. There is even one gimp, the format is like Photoshop.
Few years ago, Gimp is annoyingly taking a lot of space in my taskbar... so I ditch it.

Will have to look into that... but making it in MS Paint first always seems easier... gimp takes forever to load.

There is this bucket tool... which MS Paint also have, colour in one go too... You can use that to do recolors, without using Magic Wand.

Problem with the bucket tool is that it doesn't do just one color, it does whatever is the same color that's touching... unless there's some trick i never learned...

Nope... it supposely only fill the same colour.
Just simple click.

I just tested it... works fine.
However, photoshop's bucket tool, can fill in the same colour although they are separated by other colours. There is option to adjust.

MS paint needs a "Fill all of this color everywhere" option
