I got an earworm from Samurai Sentai Shinkeger theme! I can't stop listening to it over and over and over again...

I wonder if there's a name for literally ALWAYS having a song in the background of your thoughts. I thought that was normal, therefore I once thought having a song stuck in your head meant you can't stop thinking about a song you don't like.

Then again, a song doesn't have to be good to get stuck in your head. Even the lamest song can have a je ne sais quoi that can make it play inside your head over and over and over again.
I once got an ENGINE SOUND stuck in my head. If you're a big enough petrolhead, this can happen to you.

I know that. A song of any type lingers in my head until another one replaces it!

Repetitive sounds, be it music or otherwise, do tend to stick in the mind for a bit...I always hate it when the sound of a dripping tap is still in my mind when the sounds no longer there.

Phantom noise?

No, like having a song in your head when you're not actually hearing it, but instead of a song it's the annoying beat of the water drops dripping.

Phantom sound then.
As in, it is not there physically, but you still seem to hear it.

I have phantom SMELL before.
Sometimes, I smell the fragrance of banana or chocolate, even though there is no such thing in the room.

I'm talking literally having a song in your head ALL THE TIME. That's me. If I get it out, it's because it was replaced with another song or noise. Other people talk like that's not normal.

I'm sure it is normal to have songs in your head, for me, I wouldn't say it's all the time but when I'm not concentrating hard on a task that I'm doing then it's usually the most catchy or annoying song that i think of at the time.

On rare occasions I find myself not having background noise in my head when I'm concentrating.

When you are concentrating, your brain won't be idle enough to find your lovely attachment to anything. Including the music. XD

If I am not concentrating... I am most probably in the midst of my imaginary land...
