I think I've only ever caught one or two shinies in my lifetime. I don't play a lot though, either

I used to catch at least one shiny in each game because I used to play Crystal a lot and a shiny Gyaradoes is a guaranteed encounter in it.

Yesss, that shiny Gyarados is amazing~
I haven't caught all that many shinies in my life so far - but the most recent games have made it a lot easier, so I think I've caught give or take 20 or so across all the different games. And I've played at least one game in each generation.

Random shinies are stressful because whenever I encounter one, I'm usually at too high a level and would accidentally KO them and thus miss out on catching them. >.>
