Hummy have you tried agave nectar as an alternative sweetener? I bought some last week, I know it's pretty widely used in the US but it's not something that's well known in the UK so it's expensive, but Aldi had some which made it a far more reasonable price. I wasn't aware until I read the back of the bottle that it's got an extremely low GI It tastes similar to a very sweet honey, nice flavour.

Haha, well I assumed that it was widely used, from the amount of recipes I've seen it used in on food blogs. I guess I was misled!
Hummy, it's just called agave nectar. I bet they sell it at places like Trader Joes and similar stores.

I really think i'll be diabetic one day, if i'm not pre-diabetic already. My grandmother and father are both diabetics along with two aunts. I'm a terrible cookie monster, as my grandma calls me, and I need to quit eating so much sugary foods.

If it wasn't for my habit of going without eating for a few days I'd definitely be a diabetic...

I use to use that! :)
I forgot all about it lol. Yes it's very good if your looking for a sugar alternative.
But i try a more clean diet now, so i just cut out all sweeteners all together. All though i still find it hard to give up my coke zero. I shudder to think how much chemicals are in that thing lol

Even if it's fruit, eating too much sweet stuff isn't healthy. So eating more that 2-3 fruits a day is too much.

The sugar in fruit is natural though. I don't see how any amount of fruit can be classed as too much.

Too much of anything is not good for you. And yes, even fruit. Besides, fruit also have some amount of calories. A banana has 97 calories, an apple around 50. 12 grapes have around 50 calories...
if you add all that up, you'll find out that too much fruit can be fattening. And sugar, any type of sugar, even if it's fructose, makes you crave for more sugary stuff. That's how it is.
So... this nectar you're talking about. I guess it's all good as long as you don't eat too much of it. I don't know too much about it's properties, but I guess it's not so different than honey. honey is exploded with sugar, so if you, for example, want to add it to a cup of tea, so try not to add more than 1 tps of it.

Obviously too much of anything is not good for you, but I think you're focusing way too much on calories. We need calories to live, after all. They're not bad. They are simply fuel.
We need 2000 a day or whatever it is, so what's in a banana or 2 is pretty negligible.
I'm quite convinced that it would be physically impossible to get fat eating fruit.
All eating too much fruit is liable to be is make you toilet visits rather swift, to say the least.

2000 calories? wow, that's too much, for a woman. A woman needs around 1500 calories a day... You can remain convinced, but it is not true at all. It is very possible to gain weight from fruit, or at least hold you from losing weight. If you eat a lot of them a day.
You don't believe me? Try to look for any kind of diet, they will never add more than 3 fruits a day.
This is a common mistake to think that fruits and vegetables are some kind of "free food" but it's not true. Every bit of food that you consume has certain amount of calories, so if you don't "count" fruit and vegetables in your daily calorie intake, you'll probably add several hundred calories without even noticing.
Here's an example : Can eating too much fruit keep me from losing weight? - CNN.com
btw, bananas slow the digestion.

Fruit for a diabetic isn't good though. You have to watch how much of it you eat, because even though it's natural the sugar is still not good for you. It sucks, cause you'd think you'd be ok with fruit right, healthy and what not. But nope, it keeps diabetic's blood sugar levels high.
If you wanna lose weight you should be consuming around 1200 calories a day. I lost heaps of weight using the myfitness pal app that tracks calories *nods*.

Hey, I didn't say I knew the calories suggested for women :)
I guess really it doesn't matter to me either way. I personally have no interest in all these articles about whether something is good or bad for you. For the very simple reason that if you tried hard enough, you could find something telling you that every single food ever was bad for you in some way or other.
All you can do is eat sensibly and in moderation.
