My first anime was Sailor Moon.

I was about 5 years old and we didn't have cable or anything; just bunny ears on the top of the tv. So when I went to my grandmother's I'd always watch Saturday morning cartoons.

Every Saturday Global would play Care Bears, Inspector Gadget, Batman and Sailor Moon. I just loved the style and the characters; especially since most of the shows I watched the main characters were boys.

7 years ago, according to actual anime...probably was Sailor Moon (this doesn't count my super hero shows I loved to watch) later I watched Inuyasha, but, I grew up with Sailor Moon since I was 9 or so.

Well some of the first anime I ever watched was Samurai Pizza Cats and Sailor Moon then I watched Pokemon when that came along, but the two anime that actually got me into it big were probably Slayers and DBZ.

Then I started watching Adult Swim and that was about it, I watched all the anime I could find for awhile, lol.

My first Manga is hard to recall, but it was probably FLCL.

I think my first manga and anime was Urusei Yatsura. Than it led on with what Rumiko Takahashi created like Ranma 1/2.

My first was Dragon Ball. My older brother used to love it, so I grew curious. In the summer between sixth and seventh grade, I sat down and watched it all the way through, and since then I have never looked back. :3

My first anime would have been Akazukin ChaCha or Speed Racer (the 1990s pre-one). If these aren't counted as anime then it would be Rurouni Kenshin.

As for first manga, hmm... I think it was Tomoko Hayakawa's "My Fair Lady"/"Wallflower" series. I regret buying the volumes OTL

It's a little embarrassing of a story but my first manga was Fruits Basket. When I first looked into this I picked up volume 9 and totally read it the wrong way. It took me a while to figure it all out. I'm so glad I did though. The story is cute yet sad. I love the main plot and how everyone gets saved in the end. After reading the manga I watched the anime and couldn't help but notice they leave out the ending that the manga reveals. In that case I'm pretty happy to know some information anime watchers don't.~ But anyways, the manga was amazing.

My first manga was Fruits Basket (Random, I know). My school library had started to stock manga, and I always wanted to try reading one.
My first anime would have been Sailor Moon, but that was back when I was 5 and it was on tv. The first anime I knew was an anime, was Pokemon, Digimon, Yugioh. The first not-really-ForKids-dubbed anime I liked was one called MAR: Marchen Awakens Romance.

IKR, everyone always scoffs when I say my first manga series I read was Fruits Basket. But I found the story adorable and quite original. A lot of the characters were quite likeable too (though I couldn't stand Yuki... and Tohru (sp?) got annoying at times). I loved Shigeru, that perve XD I tried to watch the anime for it, but the voice acting was horrendous, so I gave up on it.

The first manga I read was Death Note.
One of my friends handed it to me and was like "here, read this" then explained to me why it was backwards.
I read the rest of the series in two weeks.

My first ever anime were those 70s-80s anime that was religiously inclined. It involved time traveling through different time periods, depending on the story for the episode, with or inside a light house. Back then, I did not even know this was anime. Still didn't have any distinction for western and eastern cartoons. Oh yes, I also saw Ozamu Tezuka's Ribon no Kishi/Princess Knight.

But those were not the anime did it for me, as a hardcore anime viewer. If anything, they just helped paved the way. The anime that did it for me was Yuu Yuu Hakusho and Evangelion.

Manga... My first manga was the Chinese translation of volume four of the manga adaptation of Evangelion. I barely understood it though... XD Maybe I can look into getting the official translated stuff, someday. Hehehe. But from what I got from it, the manga was darker and much more emotionally tugging than the original anime. After that one however, was fairly sure that I would buy other titles (Regardless if i could properly read em: if there's a wil, there must be a way!)

The first manga I read in full and understood was probably some yaoi manga scanlation. Not quite sure which one, anymore.
