record player

my song's on play
but my life won't move on.

a broken record player
can't continue. only repeat:
"where are you? where are you?"

if i repeat: love. desperation.
loud enough and long enough.
some day you will have to hear it.
right? right?

so i leave the song on
and keep the needle running
the sloppy grooves of my heart
so it replays my longing with each beat.

make it hurt. keep it hurting.

darling, i want to suffer
because it reminds me: i cherish you.

i cherish you enough to miss you.
i cherish you enough to hurt
when you've left me.

That was beautiful! Bittersweet, the pain of the person being gone and even though it hurts you still have/cling to the strong feelings for them. <3

(hope you don't mind the post.)

I like the concept you have and comparing love to a record player was brilliant. I would have stopped after the "it reminds me: i cherish you" but I still like it a lot.

how will you remember me?

to you: a friend who once loved me.
we are as ephmeral as your feelings
and this is the end.

but in the end we still are
more than your last angry words
more than my insincere good bye
and more than a memory of regret.
