My xbox is broken. There we go, nice and to the point.... probably not much use, but I don't know how else to put it. It's busy doing this thing where it freezes up completely and stops registering controller input (but still registering that it is connected to the controller, even when I take the batteries out of it.) When it freezes, I turn it off and on again, because that's the only thing I know how to do when it comes to tech. This fixes it briefly, but the period of time it stays fixed gets shorter every time.

Anybody who knows more than me, and has a suggestion, feel free to input.

(If you think I need a new xbox, how would you suggest I get my saved games etc onto the new one? Thank you!)

Hi there (: this is my first post here! i'll try to help.
Did you ever clean up your PL? From dust, I mean, from the inside?
I think your problem is that your playstation is heating up quickly and that why it's freezing up. I think it's the main problems of all playstations...
You should try to clean it, try to find in Youtube ways to open your PL and clean it yourself - but if you still have a warranty , you should just send it so they'll fix it up for you instead.
I foolishly tried to clean up my PL by myself without checking how (in youtube) and when I tried to disconnect the blue ray from the PL I accidentally ripped one of it's connectors (they're very delicate, I didn't realize it I even broken it back then).
So, if you'll still want to try and clean it up yourself, I recommend you to be very gentle with the connectors.

Perhaps it won't help at all, but from some experience at fixing PCs , most freezing and shutting down problems are solved through cleanup.

I hope I helped (: good luck

Re: My Controller Freezes - 04 - Using my console - Xbox Support - Xbox.com Forums - Xbox.com

I googled search your problem, because I've never had an Xbox crap out on me like that. The guy on the first post of that link sounds like he has to same problem, so hopefully you can find a fix in there.

I found it by googling "xbox freezing controller" and it came up with other results that you might wanna check out.

Best of luck to you.

Gotta agree with the heat problem... buy a can of air and clean it out a little perhaps?
I don't have an X-box but I do know that shortly before a computer overheats it will freeze for a few moments.

That would also explain why it gets worse as you restart it. Does it get better if you wait a day?

Just be very careful because repeatedly overheating an electronic can break it o.o

And to give a smile... I'll give another bit of tech support advice:

Okay, so I got one of those laser cleaning discs, because the dude at the game shop suggested it, and... well.. it won't turn on for long enough to play the disc. I'll probably get one of those cans of air eventually, but I'm not sure where to get one?

Try any office supply store -- OfficeMax, Office Depot, Staples -- places like that. If they sell any kind of computer-related stuff, odds are that they'll sell cans of compressed air.

And if they don't have any chances are very high they know where to get it. Just be careful with it :)

Well, if this doesn't work, it's a new xbox. I just REALLY hope this works, because all my saved games are on this one.

You have to save your games to the cloud manually. The games... that are in the broken xbox. Other than that, good plan!
Ohmygod I'm a sarcastic little shit when I haven't slept. SORRY.

Yeah, I have a flashdrive formatted to my xbox from transferring saves from my brother's old one. That way I can keep them without getting a gold membership. XD

Unless you set fire to it... But that only happened to ONE of my cellphones, so we shouldn't have too much trouble with the xbox.

Uh... yeah... I had to connect it to a giant monitor after that though... but it lasted a long time more XD
It was still running after about 16 years of servitude (8 years, refurbished and 8 more years)... had to put the poor thing to rest... didn't even have a harddrive anymore
