To all who happen to stumble across this thread: We take no credit for the original setting or basis for this role play. It is merely our little rabbit-trail rendition to keep us happy while both of us are online! ;)

All characters and original ideas (though, likely, very few of the main events from this point on) came from Xavirne's brilliant brain child thread: Threat Level. I highly suggest taking a look. She's a genius. Seriously.

Now, let the games begin!

The new Division One of SFA had managed to eliminate Long Nose, Thin Man, Mud Slug and Saber Tiger, but five more monsters appeared to take their place. Really it was the worst case scenario for the wary agents and criminals. With the chopper only being about three minutes away Vex made a decision. In her mind it was the only way to keep everyone alive. The adrenaline drink that Volkov had given her gave her the energy boost that she needed to do what she planned. The woman’s eyes glowed crimson as her Purium activated. She ignored the orders that came from Sycom for her to stop. Using the power of her Purium she froze the five new enemies in place. “Run, I’ll hold them until everyone is on the chopper,” the silver haired woman shouted.

What happened after that was somewhat of a blur to the woman. She just remembered everyone running to the chopper when it arrived. Since the woman was using her powers at the time she was the last to enter the chopper. Once they were in the air she must have passed out because she had no memory of what happened after that. It was four days later when Vex finally awoke in the infirmary of the SFA. No one would really tell her what took place, just that they were glad she was awake. Something was amiss and she was going to find out what was going on.

Tired of laying around the woman pulled out the IVs and forced herself to stand. At first her legs were wobbly, but she willed them to move her forward. Unfortunately her clothes were nowhere to be found so she had no choice, but to leave the infirmary in the hospital gown she was wearing. Vex ignored the looks she received as she made her way to where Division One was located. No one tried to stop her which was probably a good thing. Even though she was weak she could still do damage if needed. After a little while she finally reached her destination, the lounge area. She stumbled, raising a hand to her head, her vision was blurred and things felt like they were spinning. The silver hair woman collapsed before she could reach the couch.

Honestly, it was a miracle that they'd all survived. Vlad was relieved when the chopper arrived and carried Division 1 to safety. He didn't look relieved, exactly. He still reacted with a feral snarl to anyone who got too close, and the temperature in their confined space was nearly that of a refrigerator until the agency finally came into view.

Both teams were ushered off of the copter, and from there every agent was pushed off to their designated places. Many of them needed healing. Vlad merely allowed the guards to take him to his cell. He didn't need healing - his Purium had already reversed the harm that he'd been caused. He was in perfect condition.

The moment the door slid closed behind him, Vlad's eyes scanned over his dim room. The dark woods and muted colors were familiar enough to nearly calm him. The criminal moved toward the bed, feeling a familiar weight settle over him. Vlad hardly made it in time before darkness closed in over his mind like a trap. He was completely dead to the world for the rest of the night, and most of the next day.

Days passed.

Vlad found himself bored, and restless. It was not unusual - he was always looking for something to keep him interested here in the agency. The SFA wasn't exactly known to keep the criminals entertained - and books weren't doing the trick.

Unfortunately, he wasn't exactly good at making friends. Vlad already snapped at someone - Mozilla, to be exact - and the other male left the room without another word. He was alone once again. Despite it being in the lounge area, it still felt familiar. Vlad leaned back in his chair, pushing the book he'd brought aside. He was ready for another battle, which wasn't exactly likely right then.

His teal eyes had been closed when he heard someone enter the room. The unsteady steps were what prompted him to look curiously in Vex's direction. Upon seeing the silver-haired girl, he tilted his head and watched her collapse. He didn't look at her pityingly - if anything he looked amused.

"Still suffering from the battle?" He didn't move from his place to help her. Continuing to watch Vex, Vlad leaned his elbows against the table and clasped his fingers before him. The table was only a few feet from the couch, and he had a perfect view of the girl's struggle. "You look terrible."

Piercing pale lavender eyes glared up at Vlad. “Shut up,” she hissed as she forced herself to her feet. What he said was true and it pissed her off. The woman had almost killed herself and for what? To save the likes of him, Volkov and the others. What she had done was brave, but had been stupid. “I swear if I could I’d wipe that smug look off your face right now.” Vex moved slowly, resting here wasn’t an option any more. She would just have to get to her room. If she could use her Purium she could be there in an instant, but right now that was out of the question.

A familiar voice came from behind the silver haired woman,
“Vex,” the voice was stern and slightly harsh. She froze in place for a moment. The last thing she wanted to do right now was be confronted by an agent, especially if the agent was Sycom. A hand gripped her arm a little roughly, “Vex what do you think you’re doing? If you won’t rest in the infirmary you should rest in your room. Come on.” The voice was familiar, one she knew well. She managed to grin as she finally looked at the male beside her. “I was just on my way to my room. If you really want to be with me that much dear all you had to do was speak up sooner.” What she said sounded better in her head than it had when she spoke. Trying to joke and flirt when in this condition wasn’t as great of an idea as she had originally thought.

Sycom escorted Vex to her room. Once the door was closed the senior agent started lecturing the criminal. Both of their voices could be heard in the hallways as they argued and yelled at each other. “I know you are just trying to be a friend and look out for me Sycom, but really there isn’t much you can do. Yes I disobeyed an order, but if I hadn’t where would you and everyone else be? I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t especially care for everyone in Division One. Even so that doesn’t mean that I won’t fight to protect everyone. I thought you knew me better than that.” The woman’s voice grew a little sad as she frowned at the man before her. “Vex, I just don’t want to lose anyone. Especially not a friend.” The pair continued to go at each other for a while longer. The senior agent finally left after the criminal requested he leave before something happened that they both would regret.

A little while later Vex emerged from her room, dressed in her usual attire. She returned to the living area where she hoped to find empty. Of course she had her doubts of being that lucky considering how her day had been going. Right now she just wanted some hot tea and to relax with a book. That wasn’t too much to ask for right?

Vlad smiled slightly as Vex was taken from the lounge area. Sycom. Ugh, nearly as bad as Reino, that one. He was always so positive, taking charge and knowing everything. Vlad wouldn't have been surprised if the agent could read minds with the technology he was so dearly fond of.

He took a bit from the apple he had with him. It wasn't long before the silence began to bother him. This was rare. So rare, it never happened. Vlad pushed himself away from the table, looking irritated. Since when did the quiet agitate him? Vlad had been with the SFA for over 15 years. You'd think that empty rooms would be nostalgic.

Vlad finished his food, pacing as he did so. Restless. Tossing the apple core onto the counter, the tall male stepped out into the hall. Bored. A trail of frost followed his fingertips as he traced a line down the hall. He paused when he heard voices. Vex and Sycom. A slight smirk flickered over his lips before Vlad moved on. It was just another day in the SFA. Be reprimanded by the agents, prepped for battle, called out like dogs only when a chase was in motion....

The hall lost its heat as Vlad's Purium stole the energy from the air. He'd been thinking for a while. A long while. He lost track of time. Teal eyes darted over to Vex's door as Sycom closed it behind him, looking flustered. The two of them held gazes for a moment before Vlad merely turned away. Didn't matter what he'd heard. Vex had saved them. He knew. They all knew. That didn't change how fond of the girl Vlad was.

Sycom's footsteps faded. Vlad was left in silence once again. With a sigh, Vlad leaned against the wall. If he'd been a better person, he might have thanked Vex for saving him along with the others. It would have been easy to leave him behind. Unfortunately, that wasn't his way. It likely never would be. Staring at Vex's door for a while, the male frowned. "You should have left me for dead," he muttered, pushing himself away from the wall and heading in the direction of his room. It was only a few doors down. Such was their luck. Their cells must have been alphabetized or something.

((I'm thinking big fight, lots of chaos, and they get left behind. Or maybe ... they come across some info that gets them out? Or maybe someone plays traitor and releases them. Heck, perhaps ex-crims decide to cause problems. What do you think?

Speaking of ex-crims: I'll introduce Isa next post. lol))

((Having ex-criminals break them out and causing chaos of the SFA sounds fun. Maybe the jail break could be a test for Isa and Dim to prove their worth so that "Savoir" will free them of their kill switches?))

Before she had left her room she had heard Vlad’s words. Truthfully she wished she had left the man behind, but her better judgment wouldn’t allow her to. For right now he was a vital part of Division One, they all were in their own way. Besides if Vlad was going to die and she was around he was going to die at her hands, not some monsters. Vex let out a sigh as she relaxed in a chair. For the most part things were quiet. It seemed that Shadow and Reino were getting along swimmingly. A couple of the others were in the dome from what she had heard. The only other person in the commons area was Cias and he was keeping to himself, which was fine by her. She didn’t expect a thank you from anyone. She didn’t want it. She moved so that her legs were tucked under her and she was semi curled up in the oversized chair.

Vex started to read her book in peace. The longer she lounged there reading the heavier her body felt. She had almost dozed off by the time that Remy entered the room. The youngster was yelling something about running away from Megabewbs and Sysy. When the boy ran past her she sat down her book. At first she thought she was seeing things. Blinking she cocked her head to the side. A child? In this kind of place? The boy hid behind her chair,
“shhh, you didn’t see me.” Still confused by the situation she just nodded and gave the boy a small grin. Luckily for the woman she didn’t have to hide Remy for long. Mozilla came looking for him not long after he hid behind the chair. “Looks like you have your hands full there Mozilla,” she commented at the young man lectured the boy. Once they were gone things became peaceful again. For the most part things would stay peaceful as long as no one approached her and Vlad wasn’t around.

((Got a picture for Savior. ;) Danny. haha))

"Repeat it."

Isabella Nevin, formerly known as Mirage, sighed quietly and crossed her arms. "We get in. We steal your supplies. We cause trouble. We get out and return to you."

The male she was talking to smiled and nodded. "Good girl."

"This hardly seems fair. You're just sending us into their line of fire."

"That's the point, isn't it?" The male looked back to the glowing screen in front of him, ignoring the woman nearby. "If you want to be free of your Purium lock, then you should go find your partner. He should be waiting by the door."

Isa scowled and rubbed her arms. She was about to say something, but instead just sighed and headed out of the cramped office room. It was a small building, and Savior's office wasn't the comfiest place on earth. The woman was tall, slender, and in all likeness of a foreign gypsy of days long past. As she walked through the suffocating halls, Isa's white skirt flowed about her easily. Somehow, she was silent ... even with all of the strange ornaments and fabrics that moved about her and made the woman seem ethereal.

She'd just pushed a dark curl from her face when she stepped into the entryway. Isa just about ran into her partner - another criminal who wanted to be free of his kill switch. Isa jerked back to over-correct her path, and nearly stumbled into one of the close walls. What a graceful approach to her current partner.

Standing straight, the criminal cleared her throat. "Savior said to meet him here when we finished. Are you ready?" She'd assumed that this guy had the same talk she'd gotten. Isa wasn't sure who he was, or what he'd done, but she didn't care. She wanted this kill switch out before someone in the SFA flipped it.

((So sexy… hahaha))

The golden haired male leaned back against the wall in the entryway twirling a pair of handcuffs. Freedom was going to be so sweet. Finally after so many years of being one of the SFA’s dogs he was going to be truly free. Of course this was assuming that he was able to pull off the mission that ‘Savior’ gave to him and his partner to be.

“This partner of mine better show up soon. I want to get this over with,” Dimitri Corven formally known as Akuma grumbled to himself. He was getting impatient. This was probably all part of the man only known as Savior’s plan. No matter things would start moving more quickly soon. He was sure of that.

A grin was on his lips when he seen the woman’s clumsy steps. “As ready as I’ll ever be.” He didn’t care who the woman was or what she had done. It didn’t matter, they had the same goal and to reach it they would have to work together. “I guess before we break back into the SFA we should at least get to know what the other can do. So first off I’m Dimitri, but you can call me Akuma or Oni if you want. As for what I can I was an identifier with sound based abilities. My hearing is superb and my words hold power. Don’t worry I can fight as well.” His voice was chirper as he rambled, telling her the basics of his abilities.

He kicked off from the wall looking at his partner once more. “Shall we get going my dear?”

((sounds good to me.))

Mirage smiled a bit. "Isa, known as Mirage." Reaching for the door, the woman winked. "Let's get this over with, Oni. I want to see you in action just as badly as I want to be free of this thing." She tapped the silver jewel on her circlet. The thing might have looked fashionable on her head, but it wasn't just for show. That was her Purium.

Silver rippled out from Mirage as she pulled the door open, and in her place stood a rather unassuming girl with similar features and less elaborate clothing. "Sound and sight. They won't see us coming." Mirage pointed them in the right direction, and started walking. "I work with illusions. Most everything you see about me is one."

She smiled, and then turned her attention to their task. They'd be getting in through the back door. There was a shift trade for the guards, and if they could get the IDs of two people, they'd be in the agency in no time. This wasn't going to be a cakewalk - if there was any way to detect the presence of criminals, they'd be found. They could very easily die here. But it was better to die here than die in some cell.

"If we get them to talk, can your Purium change what others hear?" If they could match the voices of whichever IDs they took, there would be less a chance of them getting caught.

As they walked, Isa stayed close to Oni - close as in nearly bumping against his side. For the disguise, she said. It was minutes before they were close enough to the agency for their mission to begin. "We'll have to take them down before they can sound the alarm or reach their Purium blasters," Mirage said quietly, nonchalantly looking in the direction of two agents. Luckily it was a male and female. They could mimic them easily.

Stepping toward them, Mirage linked her arm with Oni's and gently pulled him forward. "When we pass, grab the blaster from his hip. I'll take care of his partner if you can bring him down."

-

Vlad had an excellent view of Vex from where he stood. It had been hours since he'd moved, and at this point he doubted that the silver-haired woman knew he was there. Honestly, it was strange being in the same room as her without the violence and hatred. Teal eyes skimmed over the cover of Vex's book. Interesting.

"What books do you usually read, Vex?" It was the first start at an actual conversation that they'd had in years. There was no questioning why - they hated one another. Vlad stood from where he'd been sitting off to the side of the room, and sat across from her.

((Uh ... it cuts off randomly, but I wasn't quite sure how to continue. xD I just thought I'd bring them back into play since the alarms are going to start going off once the others get into the building. LOL))

Akuma gave her a grin in return. “I know exactly how you feel my dear.” He spun the handcuffs around his finger again before tucking them away. That was his purium, which he managed to turn into a fashion accessory so that it didn’t look weird. He watched the woman beside him change. Interesting, their powers were going to be a good combination. “That is the plan. They’ll never know what hit them.”

The plan had already somewhat been made for them. They would sneak in during the guard change at the back entrance of the SFA. Of course this sounded much simpler than it was probably going to be. They were going to have to be careful and time things right so they will be unnoticed. Of course that’s assuming there isn’t a system to detect purium at the door. Really he didn’t care, either way he wasn’t going to go down without fighting. He would much rather die under his terms, not theirs.

He gave her a nod. “Just leave it to me Mirage. I just need to hear their voice one time and I can mimic it. I can also alter what others hear.” It didn’t take him long to figure out what Mirage had in mind. He liked her way of thinking.

A smile crossed Dimitri’s face as Isa nearly bumped into him. “They don’t look like they would be hard to overpower given our powers.” A moment later the woman was pulling him forward, linking their arms. “Understood.” The man unlinked his arm from hers carefully taking his position behind the male.

Giving Mirage a nod he started to make his move. He quickened his pace slightly as to fall into pace with the man just after slipping his blaster for his hip. “Hey there, I’m looking for a friend of mine that works with for the SFA. We haven’t seen each other in a long time and well I want to surprise her. Do you think they would let me hang out until she gets off?”

The man gave him a strange look at first before slowing his pace. He hesitated in answering. “Well I don’t know. Really only SFA personal should be back here.”

“Ah come on man. You know how it is when you haven’t seen your woman a while. Seriously we haven’t seen each other in over four months because I my job got transferred. I really want to surprise her, she doesn’t even know I’m in town.” He kept the conversation going to distract the male and create his opening.

While he was talking to the man he also was speaking to Mirage. Of course the two agents could only hear about his made up story about wanting to surprise his woman. His partner on the other hand heard something totally different. “Ok, I got his blaster. I’ll keep him distracted and get the drop on him while you take care of her. Don’t worry what they are hearing is something else entirely.”

Vex had totally blocked out everything else out as she read. She hadn’t even realized that Vlad enter the room and had been there for hours. Hearing his voice instantly drew her from her peaceful reading. She lowered her book and looked over at him, blinking slightly. Was he trying to start a conversation? How strange. The thought amused her so she decided she would entertain his question.

“They really do vary, but I tend to read fantasies, thriller, mysteries or things that would be considered educational. The educational material is usually art or craft related. Sometimes I do enjoy things about other cultures and history.” Of course she wouldn’t admit to reading some of the things she has because she was researching. After all her purium’s power had caused her to become curious, something told her she needed to research history, theories on other dimensions and the like. Time, space it was all so complex, yet fragile.

“What do you normally read?”

Mirage heard Oni's words and looked slightly surprised. She'd been making the female agent check her eyepiece. She had a single lens that looked like an orange screen before her eyes - it was being strange. Odd images and such flickered over the screen. When she paused to take the thing off, she didn't see her partner continue on without her. In fact, she thought she saw her companion stop to wait for her. No, not really. Illusions, all of it.

When Oni informed her that his part of the task was finished, Mirage smiled and held up a Purium blaster on one finger. She nodded, giving the signal. It was time to take them down. She had a dome of illusion in place - no one would see a thing from afar. If anything, to the public it looked like the two guards had merely paused and were talking quietly.

In reality, Mirage used her heightened speed to burst forward and strike the woman dead center. She coughed, losing her breath suddenly. It made her buckle over, and Mirage swiftly brought a knee up toward her face. The woman was out cold moments later. They were going to get into this facility easily.
-

Vlad seemed to be patient while listening to the answer. He'd asked what books Vex read, and now he knew. With a grim smile, he noted how some of their reading preferences overlapped. "Interesting." The broad-shouldered male looked ready to ignore Vex's question, but gave his answer after a moment's pause. "History. Culture. Biographies. Folklore, myths, legends." Vlad tilted his head. "Battles. It is interesting to see how some succeed where others fail."

The criminal must have recently consumed a large amount of energy - he was acting decent for once.

"How do you fill you time here at the agency?" So much of it was wasted... ugh, how Vlad hated the waiting for their next action point.

When his partner gave him the signal he made his own move. “Thanks for the help bro.” With a grin he sled his arm around the agents shoulder, a small thin blade hidden in his hand. The agent barely noticed it prick his arm. It only took a matter of moments for the special poison on the blade to take effect. It was nothing deadly, just something that would incapacitate him for a while.

So far things were going smoothly and easier than expected. Oni gave his partner a thumb up as the agent beside him fell to the ground. “Looks like these agents of the SFA are lacking my honey. This is going to be a walk in the park.” He joked, grinning widely. In a smooth motion he holstered the Purium blaster to his side taking out his handcuffs once more. As he waited for Mirage to catch up he spun the cuffs around his finger.

The woman watched the male curiously. This whole situation seemed somewhat surreal. They had never gotten along, well at least not since that day six years ago. Quietly she listened to his answers to her questions. He had a point about battles and history in general. There was much to be learned from them.

At his next question Vex almost laughed. Why would he be interested in such things? They were enemies weren’t they? That was when her train of thought shifted. He had witness Sycom drag her off and possibly heard them quarrel. They weren’t exactly being quiet while they fought. If he had heard would he have realized there was something more than just agent and criminal relationship between her and the agent? Only a rare few knew about the fact that prior to becoming a criminal that she knew Dalliah and Sycom and that Sycom and her were friends. No, he wouldn’t be the type to care about such a thing would he?

After a few moments she decided to entertain him with her answer. “I fill it in different ways. There is always training. When I am unable to do that then I fill it with the arts, mostly painting, drawing and writing.” The woman paused, her one passion was dancing, but that was something she rarely got to enjoy doing anymore. “Of course there are other things like information gathering. Luckily around here that can be a precious commodity.” She gave him a dark grin. Yes, she did have her ways to get information that she shouldn’t be able to.

“What about you? Things can get rather boring between missions.”
