Numei continued to eye her warily. Wondering why she didn't go away when he had told her to. Peh. Humans. His ears drooped the slightest bit, and his one eyed gaze got just a tiny bit colder when she mentioned she owned cats, though he did assume she meant actual cats though and not a catboy or catgirl. Still, he did shudder just slightly. "That's all we are to you, isn't it? My kind and my cousins, just pets. To be toyed with to your hearts content."

He glared at Casimir for a moment, but he didn't let his gaze remain off of this woman for very long. He didn't trust her. Well, he didn't trust the others in this place either, but she was the one closest to him. "I don't scratch, I bite. Hard." That last bit supposed to be slight intimidating, though Numei got the feeling he wasn't intimidating this woman at all.

Gwena yawned and stretched as she came up out of her bed in her chamber. Before going down stairs Gwena dressed, visited the ladies powder room and gave herself a good dusting with a spritz or two here and there of her finest perfume. Gwena rushed down the stairs turned on the heater (or rather beat the thing to death with an old wrench, same thing either way though) and made some coffee laced with alcohol and set in on a table in the center of the room. "Oh, yeah. Hot chocolate in case some of the patrons are minors" she mumbled to herself as a reminder. Gwena headed back into the kitchen and made up some fresh hot chocolate with her secret ingredient, she also pulled out her cookies from the oven, iced them, dusted them with some stuff and set both the cookies and the hot chocolate next to the coffee for the patrons. Gwena than went back to the kitchen after having a wonderful idea occur to her just a few moments before. Gwena made some eggs, bacon, toast, ham, steak, waffles, pancakes, coffee cake and some orange juice and set them all on a table adjacent to where she left the other things and called to the patrons "breakfast! Come and get before I stuff my face with it instead!" Gwena than left the room and went out side to feed the chickens, cows, dogs, horses, birds, lawnmower beasts, pigs, fish, ox's and some guy she kidnapped a few nights before. After that she led the lawnmower beasts in their dance of the lawn cutting (which she found conveniently trims up the grass nicely for her, much better than cutting it by hand with scissors). She went back into the tavern and took away the tavern dummy and took him up stairs and set him back under the covers of her bed to keep them warm (many people have commented upon seeing the tavern dummy, that he looks very mayor like and familiar but can't figure out why). Gwena than reappeared down stairs and sat back in her easy chair by the fire waiting to see if she'd be needed or summoned.

((I have a special edition DVD of it, I also want to get my hands on the book. And there's comic books! I need to get those too. You should try reading Tamsin, by the same author. I own it and adore it. XD And yay, you know which cat I'm talking about right?))

The blond's face fell at the way Numei went on about how his people were treated. Shaking her head in denial, the young woman let out a sigh. "I've always thought people were wrong for treating your kind that way. I was talking about actual cats, just so you know. And they can leave whenever they want, they just kind of adopted me and my family." Veda knew she was rambling a bit, but what else could she say?

All of a sudden things had grown uncomfortable for the young woman as she regarded her companion. Veda tried to gauge how he was feeling by the way his ears moved this way and that, as well as watching his tail... But it was difficult. "Considering what you just said, I can't blame you for reacting like that. Or for wanting to bite anyone either." And her night of fun was now gone, completely caput. A well, at least the conversation was interesting.

A slight look of triumph in Numei's eye. He hadn't intimidated this girl, he knew that, but he certainly had made her mood plummet. He was being terrible and mean, he knew that, but knowing that didn't really make him stop. "If you think it's so wrong, then why not do something about it? You're just as bad as everyone else, for not doing anything to change the way things are." Harsh words, they almost made Numei wince himself at the harshness. Interesting conversation? Maybe. His tail twitched behind him, maybe in agitation or maybe frustration. Those ears flicked this way and that.

((The book's about a girl who moves to England because her mom's getting remarried, she meets a ghost there. From there the story progresses, and... There's two cats in the story too! ))

She winced at the comment, visibly trying not to let it affect her too much. It brought up thoughts she'd had herself, making the impact of the few words even greater. Veda fiddled with her sleeves as she tried to compose herself again. "You're right, I should try to do something about it.. But I have no idea how. I'm not some political big shot or anything like that, I'm just some university student trying to finish her degree." Biting her lip the young woman turned her brown eyes to the ground to avoid looking at Numei.

((Oh that's fine, you always make up the most interesting characters. XD ))

Numei hissed lightly. "Doesn't matter if you don't know how or what to do. At least putting forth some effort is something." That one eye narrowed in a glare. Maybe he was being too harsh? But he just couldn't make himself stop. "Humans are pathetic. Weak and cowardly creatures. I guess you all feel so superior because you can beat down and dominate a different race of creatures? Then there's the few of you who just sit back and watch with a frown. Thinking. 'oh this probably isn't right, but I'm not going to do anything about it.' Weaklings. Cowards! Humans don't fight, they take advantage of weaker beings!" Numei was seething, he'd gotten himself so worked up, so angry that his body was nearly trembling from it.

Looking up Veda caught the full force of Numei's angry glare. Cringing a little under his verbal assault, the young woman stiffened when he mentioned taking advantage of weaker beings. In fact, she was beginning to be angry herself, simply because of one fact. "You're generalizing, condemning a whole race. Not everyone is the way you imagine. Besides, think a little about what you've been doing to me. Beating at me like some punching bag just because it's obvious I'm not going to hurt you for it." Turning away, the young woman tugged violently at her long blond hair with a serious look upon her face. Her words had been steady, though her voice trembled a little.

Numei blinked when the girl verbally retaliated, and there it was. The fear in his eye had broken through the cold stare, quite honestly Numei was terrified of humans. He always tried to hide that fear behind cold anger. Usually it worked, but she had just confused him. "W-what?" He blinked again. "I'm not beating at you because I don't think you'll hurt me for it. I know you'll hurt me for it. It's what your people do. Just because you haven't pulled on my ears or smacked me yet doesn't mean you aren't going to. I expect it." Numei's voice broke just a bit, a little bit of his confusion corrupting his tone. "Quite frankly. I'm very confused as to why you haven't done any of that yet."

Turning back to the neko, Veda couldn't help but stare just a little at him. She had a hard time believing what he'd just said, but there was no denying it. Sighing a little, she forced a small smile to her lips. "Because, it's cruel and I try very hard not the be like that. Also,I won't do any of that to you, or at least I'll do my best not to. If I do, you have my full support in biting me or doing whatever you have to in order to get away." Looking away again, the young woman glanced back at the neko. Her brown eyes went to his ears for a moment, then down to his face. "Though I must admit I've wanted to know what your ears feel like, but I would never even try to touch you without asking."

Numei stared at her. He didn't trust her at all, she said she wouldn't do anything like that him, and he didn't really believe her. After all, people really couldn't be trusted. They were good at telling you what you wanted to hear. He shifted in his seat slightly, though the cold anger seemed to have left him. He rolled his one eye, everyone wanted to touch the ears. Like they'd never touched cat ears before. Numei huffed. "My ears feel like ears. Soft and furry, you have cat's, haven't you touched their ears? Feels just like those. And don't bother asking, I'll just tell you no."

After looking disappointed, the young woman laughed. She supposed if she was in the same situation, she would have refused anything of the sort just as quickly. Veda picked at her jeans quietly while contemplating her next words carefully. She really didn't want the neko angry with her again. "Don't worry I wont." Tilting her head to the side, she laughed a little at a sudden idea. "You can touch my ears if you want, though they aren't nearly as soft or fascinating." The blond leaned forward and eased her hair aside to expose the shell of an ear with a smile on her face. It was only fair to do this, besides.. Seeing Numei's reaction was going to be a treat for Veda, whatever it was.

"I don't want you touching my tail either." His brow furrowed slightly as he watched her. His expression turning to one of confused surprise when she offered her own ear. "W-wait! What?" Numei blinked that single eye and just stared at her. Was this girl crazy or what? Certainly she didn't act like any human females he'd ever been around, but seriously. This was just getting rather weird. "I..I don't want to touch you!" He leaned back when she leaned forward, as if trying to keep a bit of distance between them.

Laughing at his reaction, the young woman shook her head while debating about how far she could push this. Finally deciding to stay where she was, Veda simply turned her head to look at the neko. "Well I though since people are always touching your ears, it was only fair for a human to give you the chance to do the same. If you don't want to..." Flipping her long blond hair about, the nineteen year old regarded Numei with amusement in her eyes. "Then I suppose I'll just have to find something else that might even things out." The young woman began tapping out a rhythm with her fingers upon her thigh with a thoughtful expression.

Numei stared at her for a few long moments. There had to be something wrong with this girl. "What are you going to do...to even things out?" He was certain he would probably regret asking that, but he did want to know exactly what she meant by it. "Fair? Offering your ear for me to touch isn't fair. Humans don't ask, they just grab. It'd be fair if I went around just grabbing random human ears. But I won't. Because I don't want to touch or be touched by humans." Though Casimir had already unexpectedly touched him earlier, Numei raised a hand to run it through his hair. Casimir hadn't hurt him when he'd done it either. Now that Numei thought about it, it seemed to him that Casimir had been careful about his ears too. Those ears flicked slightly. For a moment, Numei glanced in Casimir's direction, a hint of confusion in his one eye. These people, they were certainly nothing like other humans he'd been around.

Ellie frowned a little when the blonde elf woman went up to bed, now she won't get any cake anymore! She patted her stomach and went back to the table where Veda and Haru sat at but she noticed that her servant was the only one there, sleeping. The heiress rolled her eyes and patted the eighteen year old's back in comfort and left to go find the blonde woman. Huh, I wonder where that lady went.... She seems fun to hang with. thought Ellie as she walked around trying to find the woman. The young girl reached down into her black and purple laced purse and she grabbed out a chocolate chip cookie to her surprise. Everybody knew that Ellie usually hid sweets in her purse in case she got hungry, but chocolate chip cookies are not her favorite. In fact, she hated them. Ellie gave the cookie a disgusted look and decided to give it to Haru but decided not to because her servant also doesn't like cookies, actually he doesn't like sweets at all. Ellie sighed and then she decided to go give it to Veda instead, as a way to become friends with the blonde. As the heiress looked around she finally found the person she was searching for.

"Found you!" Ellie said waving her hand in the air while holding the cookie but quickly covered her mouth once she realized that Veda was talking to some other people. Unusually Ellie is usually shy around strangers but can warm up to them easily. When Ellie looked up she saw a man with cat ears and another man who looked really.... Cool with Veda. Should I go up to them? She asked herself while fiddling with her rabbit's ears again.

Absorbed with her conversation, Veda didn't notice Ellie trying to get her attention. Instead she kept her eyes glued to the neko and a smile plastered on her face. "I'm going to treat you like I'd treat any cute guy I'm fascinated with. Here's fair warning, get ready to be flirted with shamelessly." Laughing a little, she wrote her number on a napkin she found lying around with a pen she'd had in her pocket then extended the finished product to the neko sitting in front of her.

Even if Veda didn't notice the girl trying to get her attention, Casimir certainly did. Smiling to himself he walked over to her and extended his hand. "Is that cookie for me? I have to say, I'm a little old for you but... " Grinning the twenty three year old stopped his shameless teasing in favor of trying to make yet another friend on this strange night. "But really, what brings you here? Especially alone? This place isn't quite safe."

Her face started to heat up in well, she didn't know why her face was heating up from but all she knew was that her face felt really warm all of the sudden. Ellie kept on fiddling with Elliot's ears like she usually would whenever she felt nervous about something, "Um, uh this cookie is for um Veda." stuttered the young girl. He looks like he came from an action movie! Well one of those teen action movies. Ellie thought trying to not make eye contact with him. She felt sort of intimidated by him, maybe because he looked like he been through a lot unlike Ellie who she lived in a life full of luxury.

When the man asked Ellie a question she quietly replied, "Well um I didn't come here alone. I came here with my um, escort! Yeah escort and we got lost while we were on our way to the Blackwood Mansion which we heard its far, far away from here. So then we found ourselves here and then I started to order a lot of food and then- oh sorry I kind of got carried away." Ellie quickly closed her mouth and she started twisting her rabbit's ears even more.

Numei just watched the girl. Not surprised that she called him cute, most human females seemed to think he was a cute pet. His gaze turned to one of curiosity and slight confusion. Flirt? What did that mean exactly? "Flirt?" He blinked, glancing down to the napkin when she held it out to him. Numei hesitated, uncertainty in his eye, then slowly he reached out to take the napkin. He blinked at it and turned it this way and that way as he stared at it. "Uhm...What's this for?" All of his anger and ice had melted away. Replaced with curiousity and confusion that he couldn't hide.

"Getting carried away can be fun sometimes, but it does depend on the situation." The man could remember some pretty horrific situations caused by his family members when they had gotten carried away. Though bringing that up around this girl didn't seem like a good idea. Instead the man pulled out something from his pocket and held out his fist. "Try and guess what this is," challenged Casimir lightly.

She absolutely could not believe it! Numei didn't know what flirting was, so the young woman supposed she'd have to take it slow for fear of frightening him. Veda didn't want to do that, not when he was starting to calm down around her. "I'm going to demonstrate what flirting is, so please don't snap at me. If you don't like it, just tell me alright?" Standing up she went to lean in close to the neko and whispered in his ear.

"That's my number, so we can talk and maybe do more then that later on. If you're up to it that is." Smiling, she kissed him lightly on the cheek before going to sit down on her chair again.

Numei's ears twitched, just what had he gotten himself into? What was this woman going to do to him? He watched her carefully when she got up and approached him, the whispering tickled his ear abit, causing it to twitch just slightly away from her, but it wasn't an unpleasant tickling. His body had tensed when she had approached so close, his body tensing a bit more as she got even closer. He closed his eye, Numei was confused, she hadn't hurt him. She had kissed his cheek. He opened that eye just as she was sitting back down. His heart pounding hard in his chest.

What the hell was going on here? Numei didn't understand at all, his hand lifted to his cheek and he just blinked at her. "What?" His brow furrowed slightly. "Why did you do that, and what do you mean so we can talk or maybe do more later?" He waved the napkin around for a moment then put it down. They were already talking, and more could they do later? Was she just trying to back him into a corner, confuse the hell out of him to make it easier for her to collar him? He glanced to Casimir, a silent plea for help, but the man seemed busy talking to some other person.

For some reason Veda was enjoying herself very much. Usually she was the one people needed to explain these things to, though since she'd been in university that had changed. She had to stop herself from laughing after watchign Numei wave that napkin around."Well people usually flirt which each other when they're attracted to each other, as in they want to date each other and do... Hmm more stuff... You know, without clothes on." Trailing off the blond blushed furiously. Discussing this subject was making her very nervous indeed.

Coughing a little, the young woman quickly decided to talk about something else. "Anyway, I was just trying to show you what flirting is but I'm not very good at it myself. And, earlier I meant that my phone number is on the napkin so if you wanted to call me after we're not staying at the Inn, you could." It was absurd really. Veda never gave out her number, ever. She was a little surprised at herself and the way she was behaving with the neko. The fact was, she didn't even know his name yet, nor did he know hers.

So then..human courtship? Numei shook his head. Besides, she was just teasing him. No way she'd be attracted to him, he was just a pet. Hell she could go down the street to the pet store and buy a neko for herself. One that was tame and didn't run away. His brow furrowed. Wait....'More stuff, without clothes.'? That eye widened and Numei leaped up from his seat. She wanted to rape him! No no no, that was not going to happen! Numei didn't think, he darted over to and behind Casimir, clinging tightly to the back of the man's shirt.

Numei's body trembled lightly. "She..She wants..to do bad things to me!" He whimpered softly and gripped Casimir's shirt tighter. But wait, Casimir had been the one to send the girl over to talk to him. Had Casimir planned for that? He might have, humans couldn't be trusted. Numei whimpered again and let go of Casimir's shirt. Stepping back from him. "You..You sent her over to do that...Humans!" that fear quickly being replaced by anger and Numei glared hard with his one eye.

((Oh Numei... Guess he can't tell when someone's embarrassed and trying to change the subject.))

Wide eyed, Veda watched as the neko bolted away from her as if she had a disease. She had no idea what she'd said wrong, it had only been a bit of harmless flirting.. And she'd even told him too! Furrowing her brow the young woman quickly thought over the conversation while trying to see it trough the neko's eyes, or eye rather. Then it hit her.

With a small groan she walked over to the man she'd met earlier and the neko just in time see Numei getting angry. Stepping forward the young woman made sure to keep her hands by her side, though Veda always talked with her hands. "Please listen, I'm really sorry that must have sounded horrible to you. I shouldn't even have mentioned anything like that. Anyway, I just wanted to apologize." Bowing her head the young woman's hair hid the slightly hopeful expression she wore. It might have seemed impossible to the neko, but she was attracted to him.

As she walked to the bar, the foremost thought in the young woman's mind was that she'd messed up... Badly.

Casimir tensed visibly as he felt someone rush over to cling to his shirt. It was only trough much effort that he didn't throw said person off, it was instinct for him. A worried frown slipped over the man's handsome features upon hearing the Numei's words. The girl had seemed so nice, then again the neko was incredibly jumpy and distrustful of humans.

As Casimir was released, he heard the young woman begin to apologize to the neko for her actions. The older man watched with interest and waited til she was done before speaking. "Numei, whatever she said and whatever you think I wanted you to do.. You've got it wrong. I'll even drink a bottle full of truth serum to prove it, and that young woman would probably do the same thing if she knew the stuff existed." One of his hands went back to pat the young girl behind him reassuringly, and to stop her from moving forward or interjecting.

][Nah. Numei just didn't listen to anything she said after the bit about 'no clothes' -snickers-][

Numei's eye danced between the two. Not sure which one was the bigger threat, which one needed to be watched more. Both of them were denying that they had meant anything bad. But she had said it. She had practically said it! He was so confused, his bottom lip trembled slightly and he didn't know if he should be angry or afraid. His heart pounded and his breath came in quick shallow gasps. "She said...she wants..She wants to rape me!" He pointed accusingly at Casimir. "You! You sent her over there to do that to me. What the hell is wrong with you people?" Numei took a step back.

((Argh! Why does your character have to remind me of Numair? It's the names, they're so similar.))

The tall man rubbed his forehead with a frown. This neko was giving him a headache. Raised on the streets or not, the guy was being just a little too... Casimir wasn't quite sure what word to use, but it wasn't good. "I don't know what you were talking about, but I don't think she meant that." Caz didn't dare move forward for fear of getting the neko more riled up then he already was. "Look, just go ask her the truth straight out. And, Numei, I would think you'd realized that I quite abhor people who harm others without reason after hearing my story. Didn't I tell you that I'd changed?" Letting out a long breath, the ex-hunter turned his back to the neko and decided to ignore him.

Unless the young man was in real trouble, it was up to him to figure out his own troubles. It might have seemed heartless, but that was the way Caz had been treated. Besides, right now he wanted to relax a little without being reminded of his previous life.
