Who here is doing NaNo? NaNoWriMo is a personal competition to get 50000 words of a novel before the month of November is up! If you want, feel free to post your nano name so you can keep tabs on everyone. I'm fairywaif on there also.

As promised, here's the link to the other NaNo thread, so we can keep chatting after the event: http://www.menewsha.com/forum/commun...ited-open.html

I avoid mostly because in the last three years I try and fail miserably. D: I loose interest because I write in fits and bursts so trying to achieve a deadline with a certain number of words is really hard for me. Thus it makes it less fun for me. I do have a story I've been working on for years now that grew out of one of my failed NaNoWriMo attempts, and it's going nicely. ^^

Apparently you can submit whatever bits and pieces that you manage to belt out of your brain for your NaNoWriMo story and they'll still count. Wish I knew that last year, it would have been so much better for my word count. OTL

Really, Skye? That's great to hear! My last NaNoWriMo went stagnant after November . . . I'll probably attempt to restart it once I get the time to after the school year. >.>

My current word count is . . . non existent. >.>

Ugh, I am trying very hard this year to complete the challenge. I didn't last year 'cause it was my senior year of high school. I'm not sure I'll do much better this year 'cause it's my Freshman year of college.

Wow, I never heard about this before! :D
Sounds really cool, though. I don't think I'll participate this year 'cause college assignments are killing me already, but maybe next year.

Dreamer: You totally should. It's at least worth a try. No punishment if you don't make it. It feels good just to try and get a couple thousand words out. :D

@HappyStarr
Well, I went to the site to check it out, maybe I'll give it a try, as they said we can write in any language we want. ^_^ I can write in English, but it's pretty hard to write good long texts when you're not writing in your native tongue. xD

That's very true. I'd love to be able to write a novel in German...but that wouldn't happen for many many years. And it would be extremely difficult since I'm still a native English speaker. It'd totally be fun, though. ;)

I tried writing fics in English and it was an epic fail. I never posted them. I keep writing on my private journal just for fun when I have some spare time, though. It's a good way to improve my vocabulary ^^'
Yeah, I do a lot better when I'm writing in Portuguese xD

Heya! Me! I'm doing it! But I'm being a baby and only doing ten thousand words... But because I already have a couple of thousand done, then maybe I'll do more next year.

I have 3000 already. I'm at community college, so my classes aren't very hard. Next year I'm transferring though, and I'm worried I won't have time then.

That's a decent worry. :sweat: Exactly what's happened to me. But I'm sure you're a much better student and won't get caught up at the end trying to catch up on projects that you've ignored for 2 months. :oops:

Ohmaigosh, I neeeeed this thread. *Mai parachutes in and sprawls out on ground* Second year running; I hit 30,000 words last year before time ran out. There was much frantic last-minute typing, I tell you! I haven't gotten around to writing this year yet, but I will get it, mark my words!

Oh goodness. Yeah, I tend to keep on top of things, because I used to procrastinate a lot. It didn't go well for me...

There's also a regular NaNo thread that I'll post a link to. We can talk there after the event is over. I just thought it would be nice to talk about in the Halloween thread.

I'm a horrible procrastinator. It's bitten me in the arse more than once and I still haven't learned... Gaaaah. O__O;;;

I'll definitely stop by that thread after the event!

I had never heard of NaNoWriMo until the other day and I thought I'd give a shot. Right now my word count is non-existent. This is going to be an interesting challenge for me.

Also if anyone is interested my name is Maiara over there.

Thankees. I've been thinking about sharing it here on Mene, but I don't wanna reformat it. D: The Skye writes long chapters to be formated for forums and HTML.

I don't know how many words I've written as I'm doing it by hand and typing it up gradually... But roughly 3 and a half thousand so far.

Still nothing. I need to get to my color theory homework, and hopefully I'll have time to write after that. Though, I mean...really.. >3> I should split my word count into two parts. Academic and then Novel. 'Cause if I counted all the school stuff I had to write in these next two months, 1-I'd be speeding through it and 2-I'd reach 50k so easily.

I don't know. I always thought that my 50k words should come from one source--a novel. 0.o Maybe I will this year. Just so I can feel better about myself. I'll still aim to write 50,000 or more words for my novel, though.
