The people below us are in the process of being evicted. That was awkward, the management company here tried serving us with the papers and my husband was like, "No....that's not us. It's the people below us." Makes me wonder, if they couldn't tell the different between a 2 and 3, whose to say they haven't paid?

I feel sorry for people getting evicted...

Fortunately for us, our house is paid for.
So as long as we can manage to scrape together the property tax, we're good!

I've heard horror stories like that. I had a teacher back in high school who had astronomical gas bills. She had kept turning it down but couldn't figure out why the bill wasn't lowering, and had assumed it was something that had to do with the cold winter. Well, as it turns out, the company had been billing them for the neighbors who blast the heat to a cool ninety and vice versa. Not that it was the landlord's fault.

I had a dick of a landlord once; he was as useless as a broken chair.

Sorry for saying something really weird... was just making conversation, luckily i have never had really bad room mate/apartment issues yet.... You can find incompetent people wherever you go.

I feel for people as well, but they have lived her for almost 3 months and haven't paid rent. Not even sure how they got into the apartment complex.

I bet it was sub-letting. Someone before them rented it out, but had neither the permission or legal ability to do so.

Hey jupiter out of curiosity did the gas company ever give her credit or anything when she was paying the other person's bill?

They tried this whole "We will give you a $600 credit for this," but she argued to the point where they reimbursed her all of the money for the months she had been paying over.

Wow, How long had she been overpaying?

I think she said it was something like most of the winter, so a few months at least.

Wow, that blows my mind, but then again i have heard similar things with water bills.

It's a good thing she argued about it.

No sense in letting them have the money and making interest on it.
(Not that interest is worth anything these days...)

Utilities around here are not terrible, thankfully. SRP didn't make us pay a deposit and as long as we pay on time every month then they won't be applying a deposit. Which is nice.

Feeling the pain meds right now...definitely helps with the pain in the ankle.
