Anyone else read the series? I've read maybe one book from the series. I just recently ordered the first three books and the first two arrived today.
So, discuss the series. Favorite book? Character?

oh my days, there are waaay too many individual books to list in one sitting, so I'll do it by series. my favourites are The Witches books with Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg. The Death books with, of course, Death, and Susan Sto Helit, going up against the Auditors. and The City Watch books with good old Sam Vimes and the Watchmen. you're so going to enjoy reading these, I know I do, again and again and again

It's going to take me a long while to get them all. Ordered the first three so far. And I have a copy of going postal that I got from the thrift store in town. I rather enjoyed that one.

I have to say, my favorite Pratchett books are the Tiffany Aching ones. So that'd be:
*Wee Free Men
*Hat Full of Sky
*The Wintersmith
*I Shall Wear Midnight
Anything else with Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg makes me happy too. I just found they made a board game out of the witch characters. I stumbled upon it in my favorite little bookstore today, and would have bought it if it wasn't 50 bucks.

I adore Discworld! All of the Sam Vimes stories are my "favorite" book. I think that was really the highest point of Pratchett's career. He was doing wonderful character development and storylines while keeping up with spot-on social commentary. It's everything I love!
I've just started reading The Witches, too, and quite enjoy all the characters.

I'm sad to see I haven't read them yet. They're definitely on my list, though. I've heard a lot of good things about them.

I've been wanting to read them for awhile but none of the library's around here had any of them.
I have finished the first three books now. I get paid on friday. Trying to decide if I want to order the next three or wait a bit.

Kay: Ask your librarian about inter-library loans! I'm sure there's a way to get them into yours. I know in my state almost all the libraries are connected so they can share books AND you can return your book to any library within that system (and you don't have to get a new card to take out a book at a different library). I'm sure the librarians will be helpful...and they'll see that they are seriously lacking in Pratchett.

I work the night shift at work, so I haven't been to the library in awhile. And if i just buy the books I can just re read them anytime I want to. And the last few times I went to the library I just couldn't find anything I wanted to read. It's kind of a small library.

I was gifted the first three for Christmas one year! Woodlandnymph: but i haven't taken the time to read them. Does this mean they are good? I knew it was discworld after i learned a little more about Terry Pratchett after on a whim watching the color of magic on netflix one day. and than seeing a board game based on discworld a year later.

I read The Shepherd's Crown over summer (southern hemisphere) and I think it'll be a while before I can return to the Discworld. I'm so heartbroken. I grew up with Tiffany, being nine the first time I read Wee Free Men and 21 now.

It's the last Discworld novel, because Sir Terry died, so I have a lot of sadness over the fact that I won't be able to continue my journey of growing up with the books.

Last March, actually. It's quite sad. There's another book co-authored by him that is coming out in a couple of months, but otherwise that's it. And it's not a discworld novel either.
