I'm reading so many books at the moment. I really need to finish a couple to cut down on that "in progress" list.

Yeah, me too. I just...don't have a ton of time to do it at the moment. I have read more this year than the last several though.

Nice lists Zig! I should post my list for this year too.

I also read "The Immortalists" a while back, and I liked it alright even though it wasnt my usual genres, but wouldn't have described it as a favorite. The characters really stuck with me though and I find myself randomly thinking about them and their sorrows, so I may need to read it again.

Thanks Chexala! It's good to see you! That book really stuck with me as well, I think about it too. Funny how sometimes a book can really stay with you long after you read it while others seem to disappear in smoke.

If you have any questions about any of the books I'd be happy to describe them!

I'm currently listening to "How Far the Light Reaches: A Life in Ten Sea Creatures," which is part nature writing about sea creatures and part memoir, and it's excellent so far. I've learned a lot of new fish facts, and the memoir portions are beautifully curated and interwoven, plus the author is queer in ways that I really relate to. Highly recommend!

Ooh that sounds super interesting, I'm definitely going to have to take a look at that! One of the books I'm trying to finish right now is by my favorite French author but this book is honestly horrible. Thankfully it's pretty short but I'm still really struggling with it. I'm fully bilingual and the language isn't the problem, her writing in this book is just very confusing and I can't seem to make heads or tails of the story.

Wow! That's a massive book list zigbigadorlube: !

I looooove reading and this year got into a funk and didn't read anything at all until end of November hit and I found Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens...it was beautiful. I then devoured Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate and then It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover! Now I'm reading the prequel to the Hunger Games series: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins, I'm almost done and it's good so far, a bit lengthy in description though lol.

I'll have to check out some of your list when I'm done this one!

We should start a Mene Book Club for 2023 lol

Ooh I watched the movie of Where the Crawdads Sing and it was so good!!! I have It Ends With Us on my to-read list so you'll have to let me knwo how it is! I'm also interested to know what you think of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I thought it was pretty so/so.

Oh def read the Crawdads book! It’s so so so good. The movie does it justice though!

It Ends With Us was surprising! It was very sexy, but also sad. The author did an amazing job at getting you rooting for both characters even though you know one isn’t good. Definitely let me know how you like it when you read it!

So far The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes I’m enjoying in a so/so manner. I find it excessively descriptive making chapters super long for no reason. But I do like getting a glimpse into the beginning, I’d love to see it as a movie, I feel like it would be more enjoyable (for where I’m at now). I’m at part 3 where they are peacekeepers and trapping birds.

Have you read The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith? Someone just recently lent it to me, I haven’t started it yet!

Ooh, I'll have to see if I catch a copy of Crawdads circling around somewhere! There are a couple of those little free libraries around here so maybe one will appear at some point.

I honestly don't even remember what It Ends With Us is about, just that I added it to my list, haha! I'm glad to know you thought it was good though!

I felt the same about The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

Sorry, I haven't heard of that one!
