This is a world much like our own. The difference; monsters. Yes, monsters rule this world. Many years ago, they lived in darkness, but no longer do they hide in the shadows. Not since the day the world ended.

On that day, not so long ago (ten years ago to be exact) the government launched an attack against the shadows of the night, vampires and werewolves. But with what? With it's own creations and "findings"; mutants. There was a great war.

The dark against the light, both sides monsters and neither really fighting for mankind, no. In the end, a great majority of humans were wiped out. The mutants said it was necessary to rid the Earth of the vampires, and thus ridding it as well of the werewolves who only existed to hunt vampires and humans both.

Today, the humans that are left travel to "safer places" wherever they may be, or they're slaves used mostly as food. The mutants and creatures of the night still fight each other, each wishing to take over what is left of the planet.

Pick your monster; Vampire, werewolf, mutant (a human-like creature with special abilities that can appear human or part human or even transform at will). Yes there can be humans as well. :) Please review our characters who have already joined and be sure to make your character diverse. We don't need seven females and five werewolves, you know?

1. Follow Mene rules first and foremost.
2. Post often, this isn't meant to really be a big in-depth play, so just have fun and post what you can when you can. But, absolutely NO one liners. One descriptive paragraph at least, please.
3. No God-modding.
4. When you join, post a picture of your character at the top of your post with a brief description of them. Include their gender, age and race, please.

Race: Human
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Description: Very light blue eyes, a baby blue color. Lightly tanned skin from traveling in day light. Blonde hair to her mid shoulder blades. Stands at 5'4". Slim to athletic build with proportionate curves.

It was mid-afternoon and Jules was in a new town. It had been days since she left the last city. Cities were madhouses. She was wearing a pair of fitted blue jeans over a pair of brown boots. She had on a black tank top with thick straps, and she carried a fairly decent sized back pack of sorts, ratty and worn as it was, over one shoulder.

She approached the sign to the little town in the middle of nowhere. The town of Greer. She'd never heard of it. A heavy fog had set in about twenty minutes ago. It had been a rainy and stormy spring and the fog wasn't unusual. Though, it was nerve racking. She continued walking along the deserted asphalt-paved road.

Her light blue eyes strained to see ahead as she listened for sounds of other people, praying that if she heard any they would be human. For many minutes, Jules saw nothing. Finally she came upon what looked like an old and abandoned Inn, or was it a bar? Or both? She stepped up onto the wooden porch and looked around. The fog made traveling any farther, impossible, so Jules twisted the handle to the old creaky wooden door with the dirty window, and stepped inside. "Hello?" she whispered reluctantly, half hoping to get no response.

Jaylee Dust
Race: Shifter(Like a were/lycanthrope, but not swayed by the power of the moon, or one form)
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Description: Lightly tanned, naturally. Ruby colored eyes, and red hair dyed in with pink and purple streaks throughout. At a height of 5'6", she wasn't fat, but not super skinny either. Curves and shape in all the right places.

Pulling the long coat closer to her body, Jaylee tugged at the lip of her hat down to conceal her features. She was always self conscious as she came to a new town. Long black boots treading the wet asphalt silently, she found she couldn't even smell the normally disgusting smelling humans. Maybe this place had been abandoned? Joy. She thought with a touch of sarcasm. The place may already have been picked clean and she wouldn't be able to find new clothes or even any food. Walking further, she decided to just go ahead and investigate. Maybe she could fix up herself something if there was anything left in a fabric store.

Picking up the scent of a human, faint though it was, she paused. Sniffing deliberately, she readjusted the case on her back when she stepped forward to follow. Locating and Inn, and the human she had smelled, she stood at the side walk and studied the other female. "Do you plan on standing in the doorway, or may I come in too?" She called out, wincing because she knew she'd startle the poor girl and she didn't want to do that.

Dahlia O'Connor
Gender: Female
Race: War Rider (a mutant possessing the 'qualities' of a supposed Rider of the Apocalypse.)
While at Rest: Dahlia possesses red hair to her shoulder blades, brown eyes, a face speckled in sparse freckles and ragged scars along her jawline, neck, and cheeks. She appears 24 at most. Stands at about 5'9".
While in Action/Enraged:

Dahlia turned her head when the door downstairs creaked open, lifting the gun to her shoulder before turning. A soft squish under her boots caused her to stop and look back, humming lightly. Oh yeah. She probably shouldn't greet her guest like this. There was something rude about showing up to entertain anyone covered in the torn viscera of some rather wretched humans. And these had truly been wretched. Horrible little creatures that sold their own kind to monsters to save their own skins and make a quick buck. Disgusting.

She gave a small chuckled before, with a shrug made her way into the upstairs hallway, avoiding the various pools of sanguine fluids staining into the wood and the odd chunk of scorched, wet meat. Her clothes were, indeed, stained. Her long coat, pulled loose over her body, had taken the most of it and now resembled a butcher's apron. Her boots and pants were likewise soaked. But she didn't mind. Clothes were something she found annoying to replace and she ultimately decided against it most of the time. She stopped at the top of the stairs and eyed the floor below, a small smile on her lips. "Hello down there!" she called back, voice chipper yet low. "I should really apologize. If I knew I was having guests I would have cleaned myself up!"

Just as Jules had called her quiet hello, an awful stench hit her. She nearly gagged. The smell was familiar to her now, what with the world in such turmoil. It was the smell of death. Someone said something behind her and Jules gasped, spinning around. Immediately she realized she'd inhaled an awful amount the tainted air and gagged again.

She moved out of the door way to stand on the porch of the Inn, gasping for fresh air and telling herself not to vomit. She eyed the girl who'd spoken to her. The girl wasn't attacking, didn't have half of a horse body or anything, she seemed human. Who was she kidding? They always seemed human. In fact, this one, couldn't be human, no. Her eyes were no normal human color. It didn't mean she was a threat, though, they always were.

When Jules heard movement inside the Inn, she poked her head back in the doorway, not inhaling as she did, just in time to see a woman appear at the top of the stairs inside. Jules' eyes went wide. There was blood all over the girl's clothes. For a moment, Jules just stared, wide-eyed. When her brain reminded her that she needed oxygen, she inhaled the death once again. Had this girl killed, no slaughtered, something in there?

So far, Jules didn't speak to either of the other girls. She wasn't sure who these people were or what they'd be after and in any case she'd need to play her cards right. Even humans these days were treacherous and dangerous beings not to be trusted. For now she eyed them both warily. Especially the chipper bloody one. No one was that chipper these days. The blood was pretty normal though. Jules sighed mentally.

Stepping closer to the inn, Jaylee gagged at the thick, cloying smell of blood, and death. Eventually she'd get used to the smell, she'd been to the revels of the Lycans, and those were always bloody. It would still take some time. "Believe me, Bloody one, if I knew I was going to be stopping here I would have sent word ahead." The Shifter responded, pulling her hat off and finding a tack to hang it from near the inside of the door. Ruby red tresses streaked with pink and purple hung loosely past her shoulder blades, a simple amethyst butterfly clip pinning most of her hair out of her face.

Stepping around the skittish human, the words 'prey' rang unbidden in her mind. Smirking softly, Jaylee could indeed agree that the little human girl acted more like defenseless prey than any of the other humans she'd run across. "C'mon Kitten, I don't bite. Much." She joked, grinning enough to let a lengthened canine settle on her bottom lip. "I actually won't hurt you, Kin honor." She said seriously, as she pulled the long case from her back, letting it lean against the wall while she removed the long black trench coat. Revealing a tight fitting black cami that had bright red ribbon laced up the sides that revealed more of her tanned skin. Sitting low on her hips, a pair of black pants that looked almost painted on, tucked into knee-high boots that had a 2-and-a-half inch heel. Slung sideways at her hips was a leather belt that had twin short blades strapped at each hip and at the small of her back was a weapon that had a slightly curved blade on a long, straight handle. It was a disguised, shortened, naginata.

Aris
Race: Garuda
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Description: He stands 5'9, Aris has the ability to completely remove poisons in a person's body. Where his right wing used to be is only a long scar on his back, he is unable to speak or make any sounds from his throat.

Why does the caged bird sing? Aris knew the answer, the caged bird sung for hope, it sang to remember freedom, but there were no songs for Aris. Though he wasn't bound by any cage, he was doomed to walk the soil like most wingless creatures. There was no greater freedom than that of flying. Aris would have sung, if only he had a voice. Lips parted and though he knew the melody, the tune, and the words of a wordless song, no sound came. He was used to that, though often the desire to sing came over him.

Aris moved slowly through the growing fog. Approaching what he thought seemed to be a building looming in the mist. His left wing, his only wing, twitched slightly, folded against his back. His right hand rested on the hilt of the sword that rested on his left hip. Finger's curled around it tightly, his body tense as he came towards the building. Would there be a fight? There was always a fight, and he wasn't even sure what he was fighting for anymore. Before, hadn't it been to get rid of the darkness? But didn't the fighting only make more darkness?

Humans had been slaughtered, and didn't that defeat the purpose of fighting the darkness? The dark creatures were supposed to be fought so the humans could have a future. Now it seemed everyone was merely fighting for survival or to rule over the weak. Aris had fought, for a few years, bravely and fiercely. Now he just wandered, and helped those that deserved his help. There weren't many, and most were afraid of him, because non humans were dangerous. Everyone was only out for themselves.

It was a cruel world they lived in, but in Aris mind, it was the human's world. None of these other creatures, including himself, should even exist in it. Not really. He stopped, he had reached the porch of the building, and people were talking. Also the scent of death seemed to waft out the open door. His dark eyes narrowed slightly, his body tensing a bit more and he hesitated.

Dahlia snorted and chuckled, making her way down the stairs. "Whatever you say but I still don't suggest going upstairs," she said as her foot landed on the ground floor, gun propped nonchalantly against her shoulder. "Something in human organs stains clothing..." She stopped to give their human company a long look, her brown eyes looking her over as if searching for something. Eventually she smiled before lifting her hand and raising. "Yeah come on in! Take a seat and I'll go see if any of the alcohol survived in the back."

She stopped for a split moment at the other creature outside. Distinctive smell, distinctive air about it. It could come in too if it liked. She continued into the back and, placing her Steed to the side, she began to shift through the boxes, pushing away the skeletons she came across as she searched. She eventually grabbed her Steed and moved off into another room, not bothering to prop the gun on her shoulder as she would simply put it down. The room she entered was just as foul smelling as the floor she had just left, but for entirely different reasons. Filth and waste, a few bodies in the corner emaciated and chained to walls. She growled before moving on. There was a reason she had slaughtered humanity's finest upstairs and that reason seemed to have left presents down here. Oh well. At least the next room had yielded some alcohol. She returned to the main room, giving a playful grin to the others as she waved the bottle of amber liquid almost triumphantly.

Jules had a hand over her mouth and nose, trying not to breathe the repugnant stench coming from the Inn. The red-haired shape shifter moved towards the entrance, calling her kitten, saying she wouldn't bite much. Then Jules saw that single canine. Her heart rate picked up in the slightest, though she remained outwardly composed. Never show fear.

But fear is pretty much exactly what she was feeling. She'd hoped this place would be deserted. She might be able to find some food, get a good nights rest. But now, she was here with a girl who was clearly not human, and one who appeared human, but something more of a Janet the Ripper or something. All chipper and creepy like that. She was outnumbered, and uncomfortable.

The ripper was coming down the stairs now. She had a gun rested over her shoulder. She was talking about human organs. That was it. It was time to go. The pair seemed occupied. Would they notice if she just disappeared? Were there other humans in the area? Some kind of safe-house she might find?

Jules began slowly backing away, quietly. She stepped off of the porch and turned around and to her surprise there was another person standing there. Not a person. Another one of them. She almost laughed. She couldn't believe it. She'd stumbled across three of them in one place. Did they know each other? Was this a trap?

Light blue eyes sized the creature up. She tried to remind herself that they weren't all the same. Unfortunately 98% of them were. Julia had various things on her being. Some water in her pack, snacks, rope, etc. She also had a knife in there. But it was pretty useless as a weapon laying at the bottom of her ratty old backpack. She also had a gun. It didn't have any bullets in it, but no one else knew that.

She kept it tucked into the back of her jeans, not something she would do if it were really loaded; she liked her butt and didn't want to go accidentally blowing it off. Her backpack hid the empty weapon, but now she reached for it. She seemed composed still, almost dangerous in her stare. Could any of them smell fear? She hoped not, because she'd be reeking of it.

In the thickening fog, Jules heard a low snarl and then another. She couldn't see anything, but the sound was distinct. A pack of wolves, maybe dogs that were once domesticated. Everything was starving now, looking for food, anything with a pulse would do. The new monsters of this age weren't much different. Who would she take her chances with? Light blue eyes searched the fog, listening to the low growls and snarls. They were closing in. She eyed the inn. Well she wasn't going back in there.

Aris didn't move, like a deer caught in headlights he should stood there, watching. He had done a fine job of avoiding people for the most part. He would help those that needed it, those that deserved it on occasion, when he stumbled upon them, but that was mostly humans. He avoided other creatures, unless he was going to kill them. He wasn't entirely sure what was inside the Inn, but the human before him seemed very afraid. It was clear to him that she didn't want to go inside the Inn, though he couldn't quite see inside the building from this angle, he could smell the scents that came out of it. From what he smelled he could understand the human females aversion to this place.

He moved slightly, shoulders shifting just a bit as he readjusted his grip on that sword. That single wing twitching slightly, Aris wanted to reassure the human, but there was no way for him to do such a thing verbally. The human seemed to be reaching for something, but Aris didn't think much of it. Probably a weapon, but if she attacked him, he was confident he could easily turn her aside. Then he heard it, snarls and growls in the mist. He shifted on his feet and turned slightly to look around them. It was too dangerous to stay out in the open like this. Though what was inside the building could be far more dangerous than a pack of wild animals. If it was just wild animals in the mist.

Aris would take his chances inside, he kept his eyes on the human as he now moved past her. Watching for an attack, his gaze wary, then he was past her and he stopped in the doorway of the building. Aris grimaced, the smell was much stronger now, though of course it would be. Again he readjusted his grip on his sword before taking a few steps inside. Dark eyed gaze danced over the interior. It smelled worse than death on a battlefield, but only because of the walls trapping all the smell inside. His nose wrinkled slightly, and he wanted to know what had happened here. Though he wasn't sure how friendly these people were, so he didn't venture far from the door.

Jules noticed that the man there had his hand on a weapon, but he said nothing. He seemed to hear the angry pack as well, and he moved around her and inside the Inn. She removed her hand from her empty gun. While it may have scared off a monster or mutant of sorts, these dogs wouldn't be frightened of it at all.

She glanced back at the Inn. Face a pack of dogs or a pack of monsters. So far, the monsters didn't seem ready for a fight, yet the dogs that were closing in were clearly ready to attack. Uhg. She backed up slowly, not wanting to turn her back to the dogs that were finally beginning to show through the fog in dark grey blobs.

Jules stepped back onto the porch as the first dog lunged. She stumbled backwards into the Inn and slammed the door closed. Claws and snapping teeth scratched at the door and dogs fought among themselves, too adrenaline pumped not to attack at something. Still, Jules seemed perfectly composed.

She turned around to look at the others, simultaneously covering her mouth and nose again. How could those two stand to be in here? They probably liked it. She was frowning at them. She wasn't about to stay here with any psycho monsters, no way, no how. Remaining as aware of the others as she could be being a human, she walked towards the back of the Inn. She'd find a back door and be on her way.

Jules approached the room that the ripper has disappeared into, she'd said something about alcohol if Jules recalled correctly. While she could use a drink, she was almost sure the woman probably meant so that she could clean her butchering knives or something. You could do that with alcohol right? She wasn't sure.

But when she came to the entrance of the room, she was sure of one thing. She needed to get out of this Inn, now. There were bodies, chained to walls. Blood, everywhere. "Oh God," she managed to whisper, finally losing her composure. She was seeing stars, the world was going black, she was sure of it. Her stomach turned. She should have taken her chances with the dogs.

Dahlia had already uncapped the glorious bottle of liquid sunshine, taking a swig of it before rummaging behind the bar for some glasses. She had seen a one winged man walk in earlier and she had the other mutant girl from before...that was at least three. She had no idea about the little human girl. When the Rider stuck her head above the bar her eyes caught the little human slipping past her and into the back. She let out a noise, a nondescript thing that was more a slight yelp than a grunt. She placed the glasses and the alcohol on the counter before, grabbing her Steed from it perch on the counter, made her way into the back once more.

"Hey now you shouldn't go back there, it's--" she started, stopping when she saw the girl standing before the chained and emaciated bodies. Little human looked like she was about to spill her guts to join theirs. "....yeah you shouldn't be back here." Her voice was low but held no threat as she approached the other, gently laying her free hand of the human girl's shoulder to keep her upright. She pulled, gently tugging her away and in the direction of the main room.

Jaylee just shook her head, chuckling at the morbid humor spouting from the bloody girl. Stepping further into the room, ruby gaze flicking from space to space, she either didn't know or chose to ignore the arrival of another person. She did however catch the sounds of a group of canines, a crazed hungry pack of animals, then she heard the sound of the little human coming back into the building and practically slamming the door shut. Mildly grinning at the thud from the stupid animal slamming into the door, its angry snarls and scratches as it tried to dig its way to what it smelled. Even the wild creatures could scent her as prey.

Shaking her head, Jaylee ignored the human, it was obvious the human was scared shitless with the present company. But that did not mean the shifter liked it, she gave her word that the human would come to now harm from her, but apparently the human felt her kind was without honor. Shrugging slightly, she grabbed up the case, walked to a far wall opposite where the human had decided to go. Settling her back against the wall, she unzipped the case and pulled out her baby; a guitar, pink in color with hints of black. It was more an electric guitar and very much unsuited for acoustic use, but she had always made it work just fine. Picking at the cords to check that she didn't need to tune it again, she smiled when it played exactly as she wanted. Happy now, she relaxed against the wall and played, going from one song to the next that she knew by heart, human songs that she found out how to play on guitar, not all sad, but not majorly happy songs either.

Someone was touching her, pulling her away from the room. Her head was spinning. Probably from the smell, but also from the place it came from. She came out of her dizzy spell quickly enough, realizing it was the ripper who had her hands on her. Instantly, Jules jerked away and put space between her and Dahlia.

"You-", she tried, "You did that." It was a statement, but had a hint of question. Jules was the kind of human that knew only 2% of the monsters out there were on her side, but, was always holding out hope when she came across a new monster that they were one of the rare 2%. Not because she was afraid, but because she had hope that the world could change, and that the monsters could, too.

She looked across the room at the female who was playing a guitar. When had she started doing that? At some point while Jules was lost in the abyss of the death in that room. She also looked at the male who'd retreated from the dogs to the Inn. She'd gotten out of sticky situations before, though she'd always been helped, but she couldn't tell yet if this situation was sticky or not. Jules watched the female cautiously.

Dahlia's hand left the other's shoulder the moment she jerked out of her grip, not really willing to freak her out anymore by being rough or forceful. But the accusation against her came and the Rider's eyes widened as she blinked, lip twitching. "...that?" she asked, waving behind them, her voice just barely audible over the strumming of music. "Oh...little lamb I did not do that." She lifted her Steed now, resting it against her shoulder as her fingers twitched against it's trigger, her brown eyes travelling upward.

"They did that," she hissed, lifting her Steed and aiming it above them, toward the ceiling. Toward the fresh spillage of organs and human remains. "All I did was show the poor little wretches back there some mercy. How could they ever possibly survive like they were? You saw them...they were skeletons covered in skin. Poor little things..." Her voice was a hum now, her tongue flashing across her lips as she lowered her Steed to her shoulder once more. "Now...how about a drink? You look like you could use something to help you unwind, hmmm?" she asked, voice returning to it's upbeat tone.

Aris' body was tense, dark eyes were narrowed and there was a frown on his lips. When the human entered, he moved to the side slightly. Watching as she slammed the door in the face of a creature. A dog or wolf. Something canine. Aris didn't really care what it was. There was a pack of them, so far they seemed lost to their hunger. It would be easy for him to kill them all, he was sure, if the beasts found their way inside. Those dark eyes moved from the door to sweep over the others inside. The human girl was walking towards the back, most likely looking for an escape.

Aris had no intention of venturing further into the building. He was rather content to remain by the door, listening to the scratching and snarling on the other side of it. Eventually, he was sure, the animals would get bored with such a hard to get meal and wander off. Still, with that fog settled around them, it still wouldn't be safe to venture out. Also, that smell, it would drift further out of the building, through cracks and other small openings to undoubtedly attract the attention of creatures far more frightening than wild dogs. This thought caused Aris' lips to part, to issue such a warning, those lips closed quietly moments after opening. He was used to being voiceless, but still, sometimes he did forget for a moment.

When the music filled the air, it made Aris want to sing again. He didn't know the words to the songs the shifter played, but words came to his mind. Aris shook his head slightly, forcing himself to relax some, but he remained alert and near the door. His hand remaining on his weapon, just in case.

So this woman hadn't killed those people. She was trying to digest the woman's words, wishing she'd quit fondling that gun. She was lost in thought, recalling the faces of those in the other room when she was offered a drink. She blinked out of her daze and merely nodded faintly.

"You wouldn't happen to have any air freshener back there?" she mumbled as she moved to sit at the bar, sitting in a way that allowed her to see everyone. She wasn't stupid, that was why she was still alive. That and her friends. They were gone now though. She wouldn't allow herself to dwell on it now. She hadn't intended for Dahlia to actually hear her question.

"How can you stand the smell?" she asked. She planned to leave this Inn the moment she was sure the pack outside had gone. How could any of them stand it? It was making her sick. Maybe they all just happened to be monsters who didn't have any sense of smell. Lucky. She recognized a song that the female against the wall was playing, and turned her head inquisitively.

She would never understand why they tried so hard to appear human or so human-like. The only reason she'd ever known was for deceit. If humans could relate to them, like them, it was easier to trick them. Was that girl playing a game? And why was that one still by the door? They were making her nervous.

Striking the last chord and letting it hang, Jaylee looked up. Lamb certainly was a fitting word for the human here, so skittish and frightened. It called upon her more predatory instincts easily, but she held them back. She'd been doing so for years, making herself the black sheep of her kin. Standing, she patted the dust off her behind before moving over to the counter. She didn't normally take to strong drinks, or anything with alcohol, but if it helped the little blonde see she wasn't going to become a threat, then all the better.

"So, a couple mercy killings and justified killing of hateful humans. Were the mercies human or creature, d'ya know?" The shifter asked, watching the gun toting girl move closer with the human in tow. Frankly, Jaylee didn't care if the girl had killed the people here or not, any human that forsake all other life for the sole benefit of themselves or profit deserved to die painfully. Tilting her head to the side, the red head considered not answering the question. "It takes years of practice. Especially when its in your very nature to enjoy such things. But, the human part of me hates it." She admitted quietly to the human. "I was 6 when my parents brought me to a Shifter/Lycan blood-revel. I was an alpha pup, and the only child." That she hadn't meant to admit, but she had felt it would tie in with her explanation before the other girl decided to ask about the years.

Dahlia removed another glass from below the counter, uncapping the liquid and pouring each one of them a drink. The alcohol was nearly gone by the time she was done and she hummed sadly. Oh well she'd just save it for later. She passed one to their little lamb and another to the guitar girl. She lifted the second to last and waved it at the silent man near the door. "Come on don't be shy, birdy," she cooed, placing it back down on the counter before starting to sip from her own. "The smell? Oh I'm just used to it. My job even before all this went down was pretty much exactly the same so it's not like much has changed for me on that front." Her tone became nostalgic, almost as if she was reliving fond memories with friends.

She blinked as the other, the one who had been playing that nice little song, asked a question, turning her head. "Oh they were human. Slaves. The ones above us were slavers. Selling the little ones off to monsters. Sometimes even slaughtering them outright to sell the meat," she said, voice almost flippant as she swirled her drink. She had been to the kitchen, saw the more able-bodied of those slaves hung and gutted like pigs. Poor little dears. Humans were truly despicable things.

Aris' single wing twitched slightly, and he really did intend to stay by the door until the growling ceased and he was sure the pack had moved on. Though when he was spoken to and offered a glass of some alcohol, he decided that maybe he should be a bit more social. At least, as social as he could be. It could be a trap, so he would stay alert, but so far no one had done anything threatening. That didn't mean the liquid in the glass wasn't poisoned in some way.

His hand remained on his sword hilt as he moved cautiously towards the others. With his left hand, covered in a silver gauntlet, he reached out and took the glass. His right hand never moved from his sword hilt, and that glass was brought to his nose, he inhaled deeply. Too deeply. That nose wrinkled with disgust at the deep scent of death as well as alcohol entered his nose. It didn't smell of any poisons, though some could be scentless..For a moment he eyed the others warily, especially the one that had poured the liquid, then he drank down the contents quickly.

It burned and warmed his throat, and oddly it felt soothing. It didn't last long, that odd soothing feeling, and the empty glass was replaced on the counter. Aris relaxed only slightly, finally letting his hand fall from his weapon. That wing twitched again. So far the others didn't seem to menacing..but appearances could be so very deceiving. Aris didn't get to close to any one of them, as he finally decided to sit down on a barstool. A quiet sigh left his lips. It felt so good to sit down, he had been on his feet for a long time. Still he refused to allow himself to fully relax.

An alpha-pup? So the ruby-eyed girl was like a werewolf or something? She'd seen enough werewolves in the last ten years to know they were all vicious monsters. She hadn't met one in the 2% yet. She shuddered. The shifter had had years of experience, of smelling human blood. Was that was she meant? And part of her enjoyed it.

Julia's stomach turned again. She wasn't surprised though. That's how the monsters were. Even the 2% had demons in the closet. Her eyes shifted between the two women. One was a shifter and the other had previously been employed doing, what she'd done here? Which was, murdering everyone?

Jules reached out and took the glass lightly. The shifter asked another question and the other was responding as she swirled the liquid around in the glass. She was saying the people in the room had been slaves, then was talking about them being butchered up and sold for meat.

She nodded almost unnoticeably in response to the pair. If it was possible, Jules would have turned green. The woman was saying those things so casually. It was hard to forget that humans were the minority on the planet now and that they were useless for anything other than food or entertainment. Jules was lucky. She hadn't been either of those things, and she intended on keeping it that way.

The man with the single wing moved to the bar, accepting a drink. The strong silent type maybe? He sat finally, but it wasn't near the rest of them. He had the right idea. Jules didn't want to be beside either of these women either. Yet here she was. She downed the liquid now and winced. She'd never been a big drinker, but she needed it.

After a moment of silence she spoke calmly and rather quietly, though it was quiet in the Inn, so he would hear. "What happened to your other wing?" she asked, not looking at his face but rather at the creature's remaining wing. She was curious. Everyone had a story, and once again, Jules had hope that his would tell her he was good, on her side. Her baby blue gaze shifted to look at the women, still not trusting the shifter who was used to, and sometimes liked, the smell of blood, or the woman who murdered everyone.

Aris' body jolted slightly at the question that could have only been directed at him. That single wing twitched lightly and he grimaced slightly, lowering his head a bit. Trying to think of how best to communicate, he had known sooner or later, someone would speak to him and expect a verbal response. Even though he had been mute a very long time, he could never think of good ways to communicate with others. Though most never stuck around long enough for full conversations anyway.

Still it wasn't a question he much wanted to answer. To relive those painful memories. His whole body twitched slightly and he shook his head, pushing away the memories that threatened to resurface. After a few moments he brought his dark eyed gaze to the human. His expression intense, with two fingers he tapped his throat lightly, then his lips. Those lips parted, the muscles of his throat moved as if he were saying something, but no sound escaped and he shook his head lightly. It was the best way to communicate his inability to verbally communicate. At least, he hoped it conveyed that meaning well enough.

((I can't help myself, I'm going to add some danja.))

Jules understood. "Oh," she said. He must have really gone through something, to lose a wing and his voice. Who hadn't gone through something terrible nowadays? Well, he was immensely attractive, for a monster anyway. That had to count for something right? No, not when you were a monster. The good-looking ones were always the most deceiving. Jules sighed. She was only fooling herself, sitting here, trying to pretend these might all just happen to be "good monsters".

The scratching at the door had stopped and she no longer heard the sounds of heavy sniffing in the door jams. "Well, thanks for the drink," she said, trying hard not to seem like she was running away scared, which she was. "I need to be going." She pushed the glass away and stood, readjusting her ratty old backpack. She crossed the wooden floor to a window by the door to look out and make sure there wasn't anything out there.

The moment Jules approached the window, she saw it. The beast lunging at it from the other side. They weren't wolves at all, no. They were pets. They had once been pets anyway. This one was a Pitbull. Large muscles flexed as the angry, scarred up, and angry animal lunged. Julia's heart jumped and she gasped, but it all happened so quickly. The sound of shattering glass and snarling mixed together.

Not far behind the pit was something of a mutt, but there were more. A Rottweiler or two, more Pitbulls. Clearly nature had weened out anything inferior to these beasts. Like it had the humans.

Jules had tried to turn to run, but the animal caught her backpack and took her down. She'd twisted to land on her back so she could try and fight the dog off. She held onto the backpack, keeping it between her throat and the Pitbull who was snarling and ripping at the fabric of the pack. More dogs had come in through the window with sharp and shattered glass mixed with blood and fur.

Another window could be heard shattering near the back of the Inn, and another. They were surrounded, and even if they could fight all of the dogs off, this place wasn't safe anymore anyway. Julia struggled under the strong beast who had to weigh more than half her weight. She was very aware that more of them had entered and that dogs usually attacked as a pack. Had the others been attacked? Had they caused the attack? Were they just going to watch her die now?

Two more of the hungry beasts came towards her. Some followed their noses towards the death in the other rooms. Others prepared their attacks on the others, wherever they may have gone.

((I said 'wherever they may have gone' because Mani said we shouldn't wait up for her and that she'll always catch up and leave her charrie in a way that she doesn't hold anyone back since she randomly gets busy or too tired to post for little bits of time. :)))

Dahlia had smiled as their little lamb chose to leave them, standing and returning the glass. "Be safe, little lamb," she called as the other moved toward the door. It was the sound of breaking class and the sudden baying of dogs that caused her head to shoot up and her brown eyes to blink in wide-eyed surprise. There were dogs on the little human and, from the sounds coming from the back rooms, there were dogs in the back. Lovely. Just what they needed. She hissed lightly under her breath, placing her glass on the counter before lifting her Steed, the soft screech of it filling her ears.

She lifted it, aiming the large black gun at the nearest dog; a mutt of some breed or another. Then she fired. There was no bang, no ignition of gunpowder. There was only a disgusting screech as it shot a red arc of light, the same color flashing in her eyes for the briefest moments. When the arc connected the beast was blasted back, slamming against the wall as it's chest was practically blown out, muscle and skin and fur disintegrating. It twitched and gurgled before finally dyeing, the Rider smiling widening as she aimed again. A red film seeped over her eyes, forcing her world into a soft opaque pink.

][pfft Kya, you just wanna get rescued by Aris. <3][

There had been a brief flash of sorrow in his dark eyes at the simple one worded response the human gave him. He didn't want to tell her how he lost one of his wings, or his voice, but he still would have liked to have a conversation or two. At the very least an exchanging of names. He blinked lightly as she excused herself, watching her as she began to walk away from the bar. Aris didn't think it was safe, yet. The sounds at the door had stopped, but it was to early to tell what that meant.

However, if the girl wanted to venture outside and try her luck, it really had nothing to do with him at all. He had just turned back from watching the human when the sound of shattering glass reached his ears, loud and startling, such a sudden noise. His good wing extended and flapped rather wildly for a moment as Aris jumped up and back off of his stool. If he'd had both wings, they would have instinctively carried him up into the rafters. Up there he would have been safe from the dogs, but he was still on the floor, that wing folding against his back and he was drawing his sword.

One dog was on the human and several others were closing in around her, then glass shattered elsewhere in the building and Aris shuddered. That came unsheathed with a soft hiss, the blade glinted slightly, silver with a sharp edge, though it had clearly been used a lot. Aris could save himself, but his heart beat against such selfish notions. It would be easier to attack from the air, he was more used to that kind of combat. An attack from the rafters, that wing twitched slightly.

Aris grimaced lightly, bringing his blade up, and then down, cutting through the first dog that decided to notice him. Another grimace, he would have to fight on the ground, where he was slightly at a disadvantage, but then, these were just dogs. Mongrels. Mutts. He cut his way two the human. The blade glinted, and hissed as he sliced it this way and that. Occasionally he used his guantleted left arm as a shield of sorts.

He fought his way into the circle of dogs surrounding the human, they were inching closer. There were so many of them, Aris quickly made short work of the pitbull that was trying so hard to rip into the human. He pulled her to her feet with his left hand, trying to be careful so that the steel glove didn't squeeze her arm to tightly when he pulled her up. A dog leaped at them, and his sword moved. Dancing in the air almost, slicing into the beast's throat. A small pack he could fight off on his own, but this was no small pack.

Lips parted, moved then stopped. He would have told her to stay close if he were able. So he kept that hand closed gently around her wrist, to keep her near him. Two mongrels lunged at them this time. Aris body and sword moved so quickly, the blade struck a killing blow on the first animal, then he twisted around, moving the human with him, so that his sword could dispatch the second. His dark eyes were intense, narrowed in concentration.

The woman was firing her weapon at the dogs, and it seemed a powerful weapon. A bit odd, but what did that matter? Aris nodded towards the gun wielding female, and began to cut a path towards her. They might be safer, closer together. Maybe. Aris wasn't sure, but he pulled the human along with him, trying to keep her close and protected from the feral dogs.
