High school is a stepping stone in every person's life, and also in the life of those who aren't exactly human. Here at Heltwood Academy for Gifted Youths we provide a safe place for those society deems 'different' and offer them a haven to learn and grow in. All students are accepted on the Heltwood grounds and are taught how to control their unique powers or how to be accepted in the outside world. However, it is still high school, so go out and have fun, make friends, fall in love, and maybe even make a few enemies along the way!

Rules and Regulations for Heltwood Students:
1. No god characters or auto hitting. Everyone has a weakness no matter how amazing they are.
2. Romance is encouraged, but don't go over PG-13. The PDA police will find you.
3. Please, please, please no one liners. Writer's block is understandable but if you keep your posts interesting than the people around you can too. Be prepared to dish out at least one good sized paragraph.
4. Violence is okay, however this is still a school and turning around to randomly punch another character in the throat is not going to go over well with some teachers.
5. Post at least once every other day. If you don't, I reserve the right to kick you out. If you have a good reason, just drop me a quick PM. Please, I cannot stress this enough, don't just disappear! To have a good roleplay you need people to roleplay with!
6. Use proper grammer and spelling to the best of your ability. There is this great thing called Spell Check.
7. PM all profiles to me. I will shoot a PM telling you if you are accepted and then you can start posting.
8. Try to keep this fun and interesting by having a variety of characters. That means not everyone can be a vampire or demon. Let's have some creativity with our characters!
9. Have fun!
Disclaimer: I reserve the right to add rules if I see fit.

Setting:

The school is an old, large manor in the Middle of Nowhere, USA. The school is surrounded by an old (some say mystical) forest and travel there is forbidden unless otherwise instructed by the teachers. It is currently three days before school offically starts.

Updates: All the students are arriving at the school and it's starting to be clear about who likes who, who is a jerk, and who just doesn't belong. Seth and Comfort became fast friends before the other students showed up, now the boys are out to bond over finding their dorm rooms and Comfort is left to fend for herself, and she has a monsterous new roommate.

There it was. Seth had come far for such a young boy, escorted through that ridiculously large and slightly creepy forest. Rumor had it, it was magical. But the last thing on Seth's mind was a rumor, at the moment it was fear. He was like a lost puppy, just standing at the foot of a massive manor. This is the place he was going to learn in? Seth barely liked the idea of being in a desk all day - now he had to be in a desk, in a room, in a creepy manor full of other freaks? It was kind of nice being the only freak really, if anyone tried to really hurt you - you definitely had the upper hand. You had some kind of power and they did not. Here, that was not the case. What if someone had the power to eat small children in a single gulp? Or worse yet, they didn't have that power - and tried to eat you alive anyways! Seth shuddered at the thought of being eaten alive and tried to hush his over active imagination, not to mention melodramatic antics. His mom was right, like usual, he probably should have just taken a drama class. Pretended to be normal. But no, now he is here. Terrified, and alone.

He took in a deep breathe and hesitantly made his way for the stairs that led up to the manor, the whole time he had hypothetical and cliche scenarios running through his head. Its always an old manor in the woods were the stick the freaks. If I was some rich kid, I would be at the white house getting trained by special services to die for the President of the United States. Seth tried to remain realistic, and on top of that, stop thinking to himself. It was a step away from talking to yourself, and then he'd be a freak - and crazy. That is what someone wants to marry.

Regardless of the squabbling taking place in his pubescent teenage head, he had made it to the stairs and managed to continuously place one foot in front of the other. So far no creaking steps. That canceled out hypothetical situations three through thirty seven. He made his way to the large oaken doors of the manor as he pulled them open. They seemed to be fighting back, but realistically - they were just overbearingly heavy. This seems a lot like scenario fifty two. Seth forced himself to swallow as he dragged his feet begrudgingly into the main entrance of the manor. A knife wielding maniac didn't pop out and stab me...scenario fifty two is a bust. Thankfully. Seth let out a sigh and walked further into the main lobby, dragging his two luggage cases behind him - one in each hand. Their plastic wheels nearly breaking before they had even reached the stairs. The government couldn't even pave the path their apparently.

Seth took off his backpack and let it rest on the floor, bringing his luggage bags to each of its sides. He proceeded to sit in front of his things nervously and, almost obsessively, glanced over his shoulder to the large doors he had left open. He would have closed them, but it was hard enough as it is to open them. "What now..." Seth whispered to himself with the utmost secrecy. In hind sight it would have made sense to be louder, but the fear was talking. School was nerve wracking as it already is - trying learning in a place were Freddy Krueger has nightmares.

((I hope my post was to your liking and that it did your Role Play justice. I tried to make it humorous and add some funny anaolgies. I hope that helped make it something interesting to read. ^^))

Comfort sat in the taxi cab, her bags piled all around her and her MP3 player on full blast as she shimmed her shoulders and shouted the occasional “Hell yah!” and “Yeehaw!” The taxi driver rolled his eyes as they arrived at their destination, the edge of the “forbidden forest”. The car rolled to a stop and Comfort thanked the man, handing him the taxi fare and hurriedly collecting her luggage, making sure to appear to be weaker than her was. The man drove away quickly, she was a strange cookie and he didn’t want to be around when she got grabbed by fairies and elves and garden gnomes that supposedly inhabited the forest. Comfort waited until the taxi driver was well out of view before slinging her large suitcase over her shoulder and easily trudging through the dense forest. She moved and swayed with her music when something appeared in her direct path.

“Greetings,” it said. Comfort however was too busy with her Country twang to notice the ghost in front of her. Feeling flustered over being ignored, the ghost reached out a spectral hand and yanked the ear piece from Comfort’s ear, causing the girl to squeal and finally acknowledge the spirit in front of her.

“Whoa!” She started, almost dropping her suitcase from her shoulder. “Ya must be here ta show me to the school, right?” The girl fumbled with her MP3 player to put it away while the ghost regained his composure. Now that she got a good look at him, he looked like a soldier from the civil war, probably Confederate which she appreciated in a strange way.
“Indeed. I am to guide you through the forest, this way please.”

Comfort followed the ghost for several miles and she thanked God for her strength and growing up in the country otherwise she would have been having a difficult time getting her bag through the brush. The ghost stopped at the edge of Heltwood’s property and Comfort thanked him warmly before putting her headphones back in and dancing her way to the main building. When she came to some steps in the ground she took them three at a time in beat to her music until she arrived at the top and found the door to be open. Lowering her suitcase to the ground so that she could make it through the door she walked inside. “Country girl, shake it for me, girl! Shake it for me, girl!” Her singing voice was less than ideal but the way she moved her hips more than made up for it. The song quickly came to a close and she turned off her MP3 and put her headphones back in her bag before pulling it back to her shoulder with ease, careful to avoid snagging it on her tank top or curly locks.

“Whoa! Sure is big in here!” She mused to herself loudly in hopes of creating an echo. It was then that she noticed the boy sitting with his luggage and looking quite lost. “Well hey there!” Comfort greeted, dropping her suitcase to the ground with a loud thunk. “Ya a student here too? Any idear where we go for our rooms?”

Seth heard the sound of foot steps from behind him, they came closer and closer. He wanted to look and he had so many times but now the possibility of something being there when he looked - made the prospect less then inviting. If its a monster, I run. If its a knife wielding psycho, I run. If its a creepy ice cream man, well...I take the ice cream. Then run. Seth nodded to himself as insurance, the plan was set. While it was loose and not logical they all seemed to involve some kind of running. He listened as the foot steps came to a stop and the room became oddly quiet. That is, until the large booming voice ravaged the sound waves, causing Seth to jump a little.

He turned his head slowly to the right, where the sound seemed to emanate from. The horrors he prepared himself for were, well, horrible. His mind could not help but torment Seth with all the possible atrocities that may lay before him. Then when his eyes final let him gaze upon whom had entered, it was some girl. She had great hair, that was certain. But Jeffree Dahmer had a toned body and he was a overly disturbed psycho path. Concrete evidence was needed.

Seth swallowed hard and began the inner struggle of building up the courage to approach the girl, which, proved pointless. She was making her way to him! Panic set in and Seth's eyes widened a little. Don't panic, you got this. Seth sat up straight, preparing for whatever she had to say and it was less then menacing with a, “Well hey there!” The phrase was short and common, was it a trap? Seth decided to give her the benefit of a doubt. He parted his lips to utter some casual nothings and start meaningless conversation when she continues.“Ya a student here too? Any idear where we go for our rooms?” Seth's lips quickly closed once more and he simply nodded a no to her.

He was more relaxed now though, cause lets face it. If she wanted him dead - he would be in a stew by now. Maybe with a nice pineapple sauce on the side if she preferred him as chicken strips. Pineapple was Seth's favourite fruit? Vegetable? It really doesn't matter in concerns of being a main course. He quickly mustered the courage this time to mumble out a few words, "Actually...Umm, no. Not really." Seth cleared his throat and got to his feet, visibly nervous and a little more then shy. Though even with all that he outstretched his right hand and introduced himself. "I'm Seth." he managed to squeeze out a cute little smile of his, and couldn't help but be proud. He had accomplished more in these few moments then he did at his uncles farm trying to build character. Feeding chickens does not build character, just a strange phobia of feathered fowl.

Comfort watched as the boy opened his mouth and then stopped, seeming unsure what to do with her. He was a cute kid, she decided, he probably wasn’t more than ten or twelve years old. She chuckled as he introduced himself and gave her a cute little smile. “Nice ta meet cha, Seth,” she said as she wiped her hand on her jeans and returned the hand shake. Comfort was covered in head to toe with dirt from the long, dusty car ride but it didn’t bother her too much because she knew she could take a shower once she found her room. It was then that she realized that she might be shaking Seth’s hand a little too firmly and she quickly pulled it away, apologizing. “Oh, sorry, honey!” She said. “Didn’t mean to hurt ya there, sometimes I just don’t know meh own strength!” For emphasis, she picked up her suitcase by the handle and held it high above her head with one arm. “Oh, I’m Comfort Jane, by the way, but most just call meh Comfort.” She placed the bag back on the ground and dusted off her hands again.

“Well,” the curly-haired girl started, “think we should go find where we are? This is such a big school!” She paused for a moment as she looked Seth over once. “Oh! I’m sorry! Are ya lookin’ for the elementrah side?” Seth had that cute little boy smile going on and he did look mighty scared so she assumed he was still a child who was lost. “I can help ya find where you’re going if ya want.” Comfort bent down so she was eye level with the boy, a trick she had learned when she was dealing with her frightened dogs.

The Southern girl looked up from the boy for a moment to survey the building they were in. The large doors opened to a long room with wooden floors and crisp white walls, portraits of past Head Masters and Principals lined them and there was a large dark stained desk on the opposite side. So far they were alone in the room, but several doors were scattered throughout and each side had its own large staircase leading upwards, Comfort assumed that that was where their classes would be held. This must have been the Administration section of the mansion so someone should have been there to help them find where they were going. If that waited a bit longer, Comfort was sure that a secretary or teacher would come along and help them find their way.

"Ehh? This is the school? How boring," Said a voice, standing at the gates was a girl, with a plaid red jacket and a plaid blue skirt to match. The sleeves of her jacket were overbearingly long which mad no sense to some. But they were long anyway, regardless of what others said. Standing in a more casual position than most would when at school, she scowled at the building, of all places in the world, the only place she could fit in was a freaking school. Now, besides her odd clothing, you would think she was a human, wrong, she was nowhere near that horrible word. She was a demon, and what made that so obvious? She had gray skin, and it wasn't natural for one to have gray skin.

She put a hand up and shielded her eyes from the sun, on her fair hands were black gloves, to some, it was just a cute accessory, but it had a practical purrose. It was to keep herself from desintegrating anything she touched. Annoying really in her opinion, but she had no complaints, she could eat without turning her utensils to dust. Taking out a piece of paper from her jacket pocket, she looked at it warily, yup, this was the place, but she didn't have the slightest idea what to do.

Taming her luggage, she pulled it towards a tree, leaving it there, since it wouldn't go anywhere anyway, she started to wander aimlessly around the grounds, trying to memorize the outside grounds.

Viktor lurched awake and his arcing trajectory was interrupted by the slamming of his face into the metal divider as the screeching of stopping tires faded into a cold silence. "We're here," he was informed by the taxi-driver as he struggled to regain his senses, "so get yer ass out." The man didn't befit the mental image of a 'taxi driver' that Viktor had envisioned; while Vik saw a small, mild-mannered person, maybe of foreign descent, what he had gotten in reality was an abnormally muscular Californian, built like a tank and about as polite as one too. Viktor rubbed his forehead and adjusted his glasses with an audible groan then hoisted his suitcase up out of the car, then over his shoulder once he himself had stepped out. "Don't get no funny ideas, son! I'm only driving you here this once because y'mother asked!" The condescending shout reverberated out of the cab and off of the sky-high tree trunks that had captivated the student's gaze. The sounds of a slamming door and shrieking tires oscillated him to his senses when the banana-colored cab peeled away, leaving behind an entire life.

No sense in getting worked up about it. Viktor scratched his head; it was too late to go back now. I'm doing this no matter what, so I might as well take it in stride. He took a moment to try and rattle the cobwebs off of his brain. Satisfied [albeit appearing a bit strange, standing in the middle of a forest and jolting his head to and fro like a wild dog], he set out upon the faded dirt path that curved into the woodlot. He wasn't the slightest bit apprehensive that something would attempt to devour his face -- whether due to bravery, absentmindedness, or sheer incompetence.

As he walked, he watched and observed the forest, and thought about his circumstances. Viktor wasn't exactly a run-of-the-mill kid [but then again, he figured, most people attending this school wouldn't be...]. He stood a little under six feet tall and had a thin build that he tried to, and failed to, conceal with a wide-shouldered black sports coat and a red tie. His mother and father were the prime examples of government-sponsored successes -- Eva Mikalov was a respected lawyer and her husband James worked for the Department of Defense as a contractor. Even Viktor's sister Amy was following a hard-line path to riches and fame [the path of the doctor]. And yet, Viktor himself was easy-going, relaxed, and without ambition. He would be content as long as he was employed and having fun, he had decided.

His thoughts were interrupted as he exited the forest and encountered very large, very old-looking mansion-style school grounds. It briefly occurred to him that he was supposed to have a guide through the forest but he shrugged the inkling away and began to trudge up the stone steps, hefting a sigh. He had packed too much and his suitcase was, to put it in very complex terms, 'fucking heavy'.

Seth blushed a little, Comfort was very forward. She was very open with how she felt - he was a little envious. Not in a creepy watch you go about your day kind of way, but definitely envious of her ability to just be herself. That was, as far as Seth was concerned, a task all on its own. He grimaced a little at the girls death like grip bringing his hand back slowly his left had rose to attention. "Its okay..." Seth laughed a little, he liked her. She seemed like a nice girl, albeit she thought he was a child but things happen. The fingers of his left hand took mark on his right wrist, slowly moving up to his fingers - a faint aura of white could be seen radiating off of his left hand. After he finished in what was moments he opened and closed his right hand with no pain at all, a quick fix was all that was necessary. "All done." Seth smiled at his hand, proud of his workmanship.

He then was caught of guard by Comforts comment on his age? Wait. Elementary school? She thinks I'm a child... Seth scratched his head with his right hand, unsure of how to bring up his age. "Well umm..." His voice trailed off before picking up again. "You see, I'm actually fourteen." He laughed a little and blushed shyly, its not everyday mistakes you for a child. Its kinda of like a compliment if you kinda twist it around a little bit. "See, I'm a fresh-more here." Seth opened up his arms wide like when children show their parents how much they love them with there arms. That, in hind sight, probably did not do much to prove he was not in elementary school.

Seth couldn't help but laugh a little when she came down to his level, she was not too much taller then him - but it made him feel like a dog. It was kind of cute in a, people think I am cute kind of way. You know - if you ignore the fact they try to keep you calm like the common animal. "I like your accent Comfort..." Seth just randomly blurted out the compliment, his mother always told him he needed to be friendlier. Who didn't like compliments? Well...besides the Gothic kids form his old school... they were to focused on the man keeping them down. So, Seth tended to walk by them quickly with his head down.

Seth looked in the direction that Comfort was looking, which seemed to be everywhere. At once. How she didn't pull a muscle in her neck Seth was unsure. If it wasn't for his constant regeneration no matter how slow - that could have really hurt. She was a bundle of energy, like a small child. Just, not so small....or weak.

"Maybe if we go upstairs?" Seth pointed off in the direction of the stairs and made an attempt to grab all of his luggage. Though, it seemed to have gotten much heavier someone. Stowaways maybe? No...who stows away in a luggage bag - especially to a place like this. "Or maybe outside?" Seth quickly let go of his luggage and pointed towards the door, again he resembled a small child. His left arm pointing to the right, and his right arm to the left. I need to work on my sense of direction... "Maybe we were suppose to wait outside?" Seth shrugged lightly, he had no idea as to what they were meant to do. As such, formed everything as a question. Comfort was apparently older then him, so letting her decided made sense. Plus, who wants to be wrong? Its a win win situation if she chooses were to go. All things were planned out, thats how Seth did things.

Still, his mind kept trailing back to being eaten. Nightmares in his first few nights? Most likely.

Comfort had stopped looking about the room when Seth started to do something with the hand she had hurt (she still felt bad about it!) and a soft, white light emanated around it. “Whacha doin’?” She asked as she watched him with interest. He was such a strange little guy, er, then again she really hadn’t seen him when he was standing up, he could be just about her height, which was pretty dang tall for a kid. It was when he said “all done” she was pulled back from her reveries and saw that he could move his hand without any trouble. “Well ain’t that just the handiest gift?” She cooed as she sat on her knees for a better look. With her always accidental hurting of other people it was nice to know that someone could fix themselves back up.

He looked a little embarrassed for a moment as he opened his mouth to say something and started with “well umm..” never a good sign. She had probably offended him in some way, which she had a tendency to do accidentally, and she held her breath as he spoke. “You’re fourteen?” Her mouth was open in a gaping awe, she had been way off. “Oh, you’re a freshy!” She then said, that explained it, he probably wasn’t through puberty yet. “Well Imma Sophmore here,” Comfort held her arms out in the same fashion that he did as a light joke. “I’m sixteen though, an’ no, I did not get held back.” She chuckled. Back in her small town it was normal for kids to get held back, but it wasn’t like she was completely stupid, she could make C’s, which was passing! She chuckled again thinking about the big football players who couldn’t count to ten, and then she laughed at the irony that she could take them all on with her new found strength.

“Oh, well thank ya!” She chirped. On her journey across the country she had found that people thought she was ignorant because of her accent, but she could tell you the best way to ride bareback on a horse and where all the best hiding places were in ‘kick the can’, so that obviously wasn't the case. “I’m from Kentucky, see? You’re actually the one with the accent, every talks like this back home.” Comfort had never heard so many boring speech patterns before, but she thought it best to bite her tongue and not say that to Seth. It was then that he attempted to pick up his suitcases, which seemed to give him a lot of difficulty, and asked where they should go. He looked quite cute with his arms spread out and she almost thought he was lying about his age again. Now that she looked at him though, he did look about fourteen.

“How ‘bout we go on a lit’le adventure?” Comfort said as she rose from the ground and collected her bag which was still laying where she dropped it. “Oh, need a hand?” She didn’t wait for a response before she went over and picked up one of his bags with ease. “Let’s go look ‘round for a bit!” She smiled. “It’ll be fun!”

Seth smiled at her quickly, he didn't want her to feel bad. He was very fragile, his mother called him porcelain. Yes, it was an odd nickname - and yes, it bothered Seth every time. It was good he healed at all times, it was slow but much faster then the average healing a body does. Breaks and bruises easily, but restoring at a much faster pace. If that's not fate, what is? "Well, If you get hurt I can help you too!" Seth got a little too excited, maybe imposing himself on his new friend. "You know...if you want help." Seth looked down at his feet, a little embarrassed that he just blurted something out like that. Though it happened, no turning back now...well time at least. He could turn around and run away but that would be rude...and Comfort had longer legs then he did and looked much more fit. Staying it is.

Seth turned his attention back to Comfort and off of his feet which were, admittedly, less interesting. Though his shoes were new. "Yeah...I'm a freshman here." Seth rubbed his eyes with his hands, he was tired from the long road and carrying all his bags around. He couldn't help but chuckle a little at her jaw dropping reaction. Did he really look that young? Its moms fault, dragging me to all of those spas..... she always wanted a daughter. "I'm sure you did not get held back... you seem very bright and friendly!" Seth smiled again, his apparent child like smile, and brushed his pants off from being on the floor. Comfort was different from most people he met, she was just so nice. Strong. But definitely easy to talk too. Talking this much to a stranger is honestly a huge accomplishment for Seth. I should write my mom a letter. I'm learning already. Seth smiled a bit, holding back laughter.

"Really, from that far away?" Seth looked up at the sky and bit ever so slightly on his tongue, picturing the map of the United States in his head. He quickly realized that was pointless because he had no idea where he was...or how he got here. Sleeping in the car seemed like a bad idea now...

Seth watched as Comfort grabbed his bags, "Oh, thank you Comfort." Seth went to grab his last bag but Comfort was persistent in grabbing each and every one. An adventure is now what she wanted? Adventures could be fun. Especially with out that bell his mom made him wear in the woods so she could find him....that was always embarrassing. "Lets go outside?" Seth pointed with both arms to the door and ran a couple of steps forward, "Maybe we missed something?" Seth shrugged his shoulders and put his arms behind his head. "I wish I could be more help Comfort....but your guess is as good as mine." Seth laughed and turned to the door, hopefully Comfort took the lead.

She had the strength to deal with any maniacs that tried anything funny. Or well, not so funny.

Comfort made a mental note of Seth’s healing abilities. It would come in handy next time she fell from a window or got bucked in the face by a mad bronco again. She processed quickly the other powers that this school would have to offer. Her strength was probably a run of the mill kind of power, but it was her gift and she certainly loved it. It came in handy when she had to rope wild horses and drag them back to the ranch. She then wondered about her new classes and if she would be able to pass them, she had gotten C’s at her last school, but that with also with the help of tutoring. Comfort hoped that her classes would be easy enough for her to pass so she would have something to show off to her gang when she went home for Winter Break. She chuckled at Seth’s comment about how bright and happy she was, happy, yes, bright, not so much.

“Ya’know?” she started absentmindedly. “I think we can be good friends.” Comfort was whistling happily as she threw some bags over her shoulders and held some under her arms. Her posture didn’t once waver from the heavy strain but she knew she must look a bit silly for carrying so many; they would need to find the dorm rooms soon. “Onward!” Seth did have a certain childlike innocence that she found to be quite refreshing. Most of her friends in the South had told her that people were gonna be different when she made it to the other side of the United States and they were gonna try to do all sorts of horrible things. But this boy didn’t seem like it and Comfort felt like they really had a chance at a good friendship. He started to smile a bit more and didn’t look so much like a drowned rat and silently she wondered what his story was, he obviously just needed someone to talk to so he could come out of his shell.

“Outside is meh best guess. Maybe there are some ot’er students around who know what’s goin’ on.” She followed him as he ran a few steps, but when he backed off when he became uncertain she had no trouble taking the lead and heading out the doors. The campus was beautiful. Stone steps where in front of the main building and flower bushes were planted on each side of the railing. Trees littered the grounds and lush grass grew thick beneath them. It was colder than Comfort would have liked and she would need to remember to get a more covering tee shirt out of her suitcase before classes started, but other than that she thought it was beautiful. “It’s so purdy here!” She exclaimed, almost dropping the bags in her excitement. She regained her composure though and looked to Seth. The girl had been listening to her favorite songs when she arrived her the first time so she didn’t pay too much attention to what was around her but now that she got a good look at it she wished she owned a camera to take pictures of it to show her friends.

“C’mon, adventure awaits!” Comfort wasn’t too sure where they were going, she remembered that the forest around the school was off limits unless escorted but the call of the tall trees was almost irresistible. She thought then, that Seth might not be able to keep up with her if they went in the “Forbidden Forest” very cliché, even for a Country girl, so she decided instead that they should explore the grounds a bit before seeing if they could get their room assignments. “We’ll stick to the grounds fer now, but I’m dyin’ to explore the forest sometime.” She gave a sly wink before heading to the stone stairs with a spring in her step.

Derrik and his fluffball of a rabbit familiar Miki finally arrived at the edge of the woods. The taxi driver practically booted them and Derrik's suitcases out of the car and drove away without a second glance. "Wow, he must not have been kidding about this place giving him the creeps Miki. Alright then. School full speed ahead." He shrugged and picked up his suitcases. The tall, toned teen managed the load easily."Mi Ki!" Miki squeaked as he hopped up onto Derrik's shoulder. With that Derrik set off.

The manor reminded him of his parents' house, where he'd lived up to this point. Though he had to admit Heltwood was a bit creepier. He hoped he'd be able to make some friends more easily than at the demon only school he'd attended before. His mother being Human made him the object of ridicule to many. Miki had been there to help him through as had his father. But now he had to go to the same school his father had. Academic traditions were highly valued in the Houssen family. After this he'd have to go to UCLA for college, but was grateful to have freedom to study what his heart desired there.

Derrik noticed two students nearby. A pretty girl with curly hair and a younger looking boy with dark hair. Why not be friendly? Miki was one step ahead of him though and darted over to sniff the new people present. "Miki! Miki wait!" Derrik called after him as he chased the silly rabbit to where the other students were. Miki stopped in front of the boy with dark hair and began to sniff his shoe. Then he cutely looked up at him and gave him an inquisitive "Ki?"

Viktor had reached the top of the stone steps quite some time ago and, hearing conversation inside, politely decided to wait outside upon the steps instead of intruding. He had found a small, elevated veranda on which to set his bags and also himself, and he had rested there for the time being. He had observed a girl walking about the school grounds and was trying to decide whether to go speak to her when his plans went up in smoke. First he noticed the [rather handsome!] blonde boy emerging from the edge of the woods, then the small ball of rabbit upon his shoulder. At the same time the conversation in the building behind his head had started to gravitate outside. At first without much to do, Viktor had found himself in the middle of a congregation of students.

He had lifted a hand to wave to the new blonde boy, but at the same time he did, recoiled in horror as the bunny-rabbit-thing shot off of the man's shoulder and barreled right up the steps past Viktor to the two people that Vik only now took notice of; the girl with the curly hair and the timid-looking guy with black hair. Ordinarily, Viktor wouldn't be too bothered by it, but something about that rabbit was scratching a chord in the back of his brain, and his senses were telling him to be on alert. A 'fight or flight' response.

Regardless, finding himself near the two students that had been inside and in the path of the rapidly approaching third one, Viktor felt obliged to at least provide a form of acknowledgment to the closer students. As such, he tore his gaze away from the malicious fuzzball and up to the two students with a classic, and totally uncool, "Hey."

Miki loved kids but on the same token, he went ahead to make sure no trouble was waiting. He WAS Derrik's guardian and familiar after all. If a threat had been present he would have to go into guardian mode and protect Derrik at all costs. It hadn't happened too often at the old school. But this was new territory and Miki had to be sure. He felt Viktor's stare and sensed something with that boy. "Ki..."He couldn't tell what it was but...he'd keep an eye out when Derrik was around him. He continued to be cute and cuddly however and looking from face to face as he waited for Derrik.

Derrik noticed another boy with glasses and green hair startle at the rabbit's sudden move. Finally he caught up with the silly rabbit and picked him up. "Miki! Now you've gone and scared one of the other students. Wait for me next time, ok?" Derrik scratched his guardian behind the ears, causing him to purr like a cat. "Sorry about that, my guardian Miki can be a bit hasty sometimes. He's friendly though." He smiled apologetically as he put Miki back on his shoulder. "My name is Derrik, nice to meet you all. What are your names?" he asked. He hoped the school would be a good match, he was glad to see all different kids were going to be attending.

Even though his past school experience had been a disaster, Derrik promised himself he'd make the most of his time at Heltwood. If the opportunity arose, maybe he'd even start dating. He'd dated once or twice before but the girls always left him for one of the more popular guys or one of the richer guys. He'd gotten over it. He just wanted friends right now though. Only Miki and his parents had been real friends to him and he thought it was about time to change that.

Seth listened intently to what Comfort was saying, and was a bit curious as to what made her think he would like the woods. At all. She was tough, but it still was the woods. The woods. Did no-one realize how terrifying those woods were? Tress everywhere - it was dark, suppose to be magical. It screamed dangerous. Well, apparently it was more of a whisper...that only Seth could hear. Maybe everyone else was just crazy? But...not the hills have eyes have crazy. More like a, 'If it bites me, Ill just bite it back' kind of crazy. Yes. That does constitute as a form of crazy. Kind of.

At that moment Comfort took the lead. Inside, and probably on the outside, Seth smiled. Phew, I'm sure she can handle some baddies. And I can just heal her up. Then Seth's eyes traveled off to the interior of the mansion, it was somehow creepier then outside. "Coming Comfort!" Seth smiled and ran to catch up to her, she definitely looked happy - even dropping some luggage which she picked up quite quickly. A few steps behind Comfort Seth noticed a streak of some kind of movement come towards him, instinctively he became much faster - grappling onto Comforts arm in fear. What was it? Where did it come from? And most importantly....was it hungry?

Seth refused to blink momentarily until the ball of fluff came to a stop close to his feet, it was a rabbit? It looked like a rabbit that was for sure. Though it was much faster then any rabbit Seth had seen. At that moment it let out some weird sound that unnerved Seth. "Comfort," Seth pulled her gently to get her attention, as if suddenly grabbing her would not, "what is that thing?" Seth used his head to casually bob her into the direction of the weird animal.

Seth released Comfort slowly and walked a few steps ahead of her, closer to the exit. Seth was not much of a fighter. "How about we just go outside like we planned?" Seth turned on his heels to head outside, it was strange. He never thought he would be happy to be closer to those creepy woods. At the door is when he noticed two more people, and the most obvious reaction followed. "Comfort!" Seth turned back quickly to Comfort, panic set in. There was a freaky non-animal animal. Two complete strangers, the creepy woods and the creepy manor. Creepy. Creepy. Creepy. It was all creepy, and shady, and sketchy. He heard a kid use that phrase once. Seth made his way back to Comforts side, he felt safe near her - and her monstrous strength. She was also a good judge of character, she did talk to Seth after all whom did not try to attack, cook or eat her at any time.

The room now felt quiet. It was not like Seth did not like these people, he didn't know them. And that was the problem. They could be crazy, flesh eating or sacrificing young virgin boys crazy. You can never tell these days. Seth looked at Comfort, whom he was now standing quiet closely too, and looked at all the things she was carrying. "Thank you for carrying my things Comfort, but I think you might want to put them down know." Seth tried to smile, and remain calm. But he was shy, and that was very evident at this moment of time. Two complete strangers and a freaky bunny but not bunny thing. Not to mention, those two people probably have powers if they are here.

Seth did not want to be rude or offensive in suggesting they were mean, but - better to be safe then sorry. Also, better to not have people attempt to eat you, especially at such a young age.

Comfort let out a squeal as the rabbit-like creature approached Seth. Seth seemed to revert back to his “drowned rat” mood, and it seemed to be even worse this time from the attention they were getting. He latched on to her arm when the creature showed up, then retreated a few steps in front of her only to come quickly back when two other boys seemed to show up. Comfort chuckled as she placed the bags on the ground (careful with Seth’s belongings, but merely dropped her own) and bent over to get a closer look at the fuzzy animal. “Why, hullo there!” She cooed as she held a hand out for the creature to smell, rule number one when dealing with strange animals. “Oh, Seth, it’s pretty cute, come down ‘ere.” The curly haired girl motioned with her hand to tell Seth that it was okay, but it was to no avail. “It sure does make a strange noise, you thi’k it’s a student?” She asked as she stood back up and dusted herself off again. Seth didn’t look like he would be in the mood to have a conversation though.

It was about at that time that a boy with glasses said “hey” (rather awkwardly Comfort noticed, but she didn’t point that fact out) and a handsome blond came bounding towards them. The happy little rabbit creature was watching the boy with glasses when the blond scooped him up. He must have been his owner. “Well, look at this, moar students, Seth. Say hullo, okay?” Comfort noticed that Seth was going to need to be pushed to speak to the new students so she gave him a gentle nudge. She couldn’t help but feel responsible for him even though they had only just met, she almost felt like an older sister to the younger student. “Hey, there, I’m Comfort, nice ta meet cha, Derrik! What’s your name, honey?” She then turned to the boy with glasses, he seemed just as freaked out by the rabbit creature as Seth did, but he seemed to be enthralled with the handsome Derrik. Weird.

Comfort quickly linked arms with Seth as she spoke to the blond and his rabbit, just to make sure Seth felt safe. “What’s uh guardian?” She asked when Derrik referred to the creature as such. There was still a lot for her to learn about the exciting world of fantasy and superpowers, she had only discovered her powers when summer vacation had started and now she was in a ritzy school full of other kids who had strange powers like her own. However, Comfort wasn’t too proud to ask questions so she kept them coming: “Why would ya need protecting? You a secret agent or somethin’?” She was blushing a little from being around the blond but her grip on Seth brought her back to reality. Sure, Comfort wanted a handsome boyfriend to show off to her friends back home, and the blond Derrik was an excellent candidate, but school hadn’t even started yet so she didn’t want to get ahead of herself. For now, she would attempt to keep her focus on school, and more specifically finding her dorm room. “Hey, you boys know where we get our room assignm’nts? Seth and I are a bit lost, ya see.”

A fleeting thought crossed Comfort’s mind as she stood there with the three boys and a rabbit “guardian”; where were all the other girls?

Seth was now physically attached with Comfort, she had gone and linked arms with him - and he did feel safer that way. But he kept glancing over at his bag, his smaller bag that is. The one he had filled with one thing. At moments like these Seth just wanted to open up his bag, grab its single content and well, hug it. He walked along with Comfort, arms still linked until she let him go for but a moment to check out the bunny like animal. She tried to urge him over but he simply shook his head shyly, he didn't have the confidence or courage to just walk over to it. Comfort walked back to his side, linking arms with him once more and bringing him to a sense of security. Comfort turned back to the two boys when the rabbit had returned to the man with blonde hair. Seth smiled a little when he noticed the looks he received from both the other boy and Comfort.

Comfort then started to question the blodne boy about his bunny animal to which he had called some kind of guardian. Comfort was asking a storm of questions, which Seth too would like answers. But, she did introduce herself, urging Seth to do the same. "Oh...I'm..." Seth cleared his throat, but hid behind Comfort, his face hid from the two boys. "Seth..." Only Seth's voice could be heard, and it was apparent that Seth was nervous.

Comfort then brought up the dorm rooms, the things that had brought Comfort and himself to meet these two boys. IF they had gone in any other direction it would probably have turned out differently. Seth glanced once again to the bag, but this time chose to go for it. He gently unlinked arms with Comfort and hesitantly made his way to his small bag. "...Ill be right back Comfort..." Seth whispered quietly, keeping his eyes on the two boys. They did not seem intimidating, but Seth could not help but be extremely nervous. Seth unzipped his bag quickly and pulled out a black and white figure. At closer inspection it was obvious as to what it was, it kind of suited a boy whom was so child like. A stuffed animal. A cute little bear like stuffed animal, very furry indeed. Seth hugged it tightly in his right arm, kissing it gently on the head. As embarrassing as this may be....I definitely feel much better. Seth smiled and walked over to Comfort, still nervous, but capable of talking without hiding now. Seth went to link his left arm with Comforts right arm, watching her face as he did so for any reason to not do what he was doing.

Seth turned his attention back to the two boys whom were still standing around the manors entrance, and they did not seem to sure about coming in. Seth looked back at Comfort, he thought about what she may be thinking and it seemed kind of obvious. She was being his protector, which meant he was giving her extra work. Seth took in a deep breathe and took a step forward, begrudgingly letting his arm slip out of the link he had with Comfort. "So....do you two..." Seth cleared the lump in his throat and continued on, "Do you two know anything about the layout of this place?" Seth spoke a little quickly to get out all of his words but smiled after finishing his sentence. Still, he retreated back to Comforts side, looking up at her for some kind of approval. Which made little sense.... he barely did anything.

Seth couldn't help but wonder if he would be able to get over his shyness. Or if he could make any friends here - though he had Comfort. Whom was more then kind. So Seth felt confident he would not be lonely here.

"Nice to meet you Comfort, nice to meet you Seth." Derrik gave a little bow. "Well, a guardian is a magical animal that chooses to protect and guide someone. Miki came to me when I was a kid. I'd run away from a really horrible boardng school and he led me all the way back to my parents' house. I told them what happened and Miki's been with me and my family ever since." He shrugged, Derrik didn't mind Comfort's questions and thought her accent was cute. Miki perked up his ears at the mention of guardians and decided to give his two cents."Ki! Miki-ki, mi mi ki ki. Ki mi mi ki ki." He squeaked. With an authoritative nod, the rabbit purred and settled back down.

"Oh yeah, you're right Miki!" Derrik agreed. "Guardians have their own languages too. Aside from other animals, only their chosen can understand what they're saying. I don't know why though." Derrik remembered how the taxi driver had given them weird looks on the way up. He must have seemed pretty mental talking to a rabbit. Comfort's question about being a secret agent made him smile."Ha! No, I'm not James Bond or anything like that. I don't really know why Miki does it, not that I'm complaining. He's a good friend and makes sure I'm on the right track. Anyhow, I'm clueless about how the school works. This is my first year here." He picked up his bags and put them inside by the door. He sat down on the porch and smiled calmly. "Hopefully we'll meet everyone else soon."

Viktor chose to politely wait until the blond boy was finished introducing himself, before in a calm voice, choosing to commence greetings himself. "As for me," he began, inserting pauses wherever he felt necessary, "I am Viktor Vladimir Mikalov. Otherwise known as Viktor, or just Vik. I am seventeen years old and a senior." He paused to make a gesture to himself, noting the timidness of the black-haired boy and smiling slightly. "I enjoy playing sports and music, and I look forward to spending time with you all this year."

He paused again for a second, then exhaled sharply and leaned back on the veranda with his hands behind his head, kicking up his right leg over his left, with a relaxed smile on his face. "Phew. I hate introductions." A slight chuckle escaped his chapped lips -- he was kind of thirsty, but he chose to ignore it. "That's all the formality you'll get out of me, friends, so don't expect any more high-level eloquent-elegant crap." He spoke bluntly; it wasn't that he was unfriendly, he just chose to use syntax with a slightly more brutish tinge in order to lighten the mood.

"So. It was Seth-"
His eyes went to the timid black-haired boy, "Comfort-" to the redheaded girl, "and Derrik, right?" then to the blond boy, choosing to let his eyes linger on the boy and particularly his familiar for a bit longer. "Good ta meet 'ya all...I thought there'd be more kids than this, though."

Comfort watched as Derrik gave a little bow and her heart started to pitter-patter. There was a certain air of mystery to him as he spoke of his boarding school’s past and the little creature on his shoulder confirmed that thought as it started to speak in another language. The blond was perfect. Comfort imagined how he would ask her to be his girl, and then after they dated all the way through high school they would get married and have three children (they would have to name one Beau in honor of her father and maybe name a few after herself too) and just when she was getting to their fortieth anniversary, Seth introduced himself shyly and then let go of her arm. He walked over to one of his bags and opened it and Comfort wondered what he was doing exactly. That’s when she saw it; he was hugging an adorable little stuffed animal! She couldn’t help but feel that he was in fact lying about his age so that he could play with the big boys.

When he was done with his public display of stuffed affection he returned to Comfort’s side and cautiously linked around her arm again. Comfort could just dip Seth in her coffee and eat him up! However, she decided it wasn’t best to put it that way. “Aw, Seth! That was so cu-ute!” She chuckled and turned her body towards him to give the boy a big, crushing hug. When she realized that she might be actually crushing him, she quickly released his body and stuck her arms in the air as though she was being told to ‘freeze’ by the cops. “Oh! Sorry, hun!” The curly-haired girl bent over to help him back up to his feet and gave a nervous laugh, she was going to have to get used to not touching people in fear of breaking their bones. It almost startled Comfort when the boy wearing glasses started talking, however, she did like how he spoke. It was rather strong and tough, and almost reminded the girl of a Viking or ancient warrior. She pondered for a moment as she watched him with her brown eyes, he kinda remined her of her brothers back home on the ranch. However, for once she was at a loss for words as to his greeting.

It wasn’t too long after that Seth moved forward and shyly asked if the other boys understood the layout of the school’s campus. Comfort felt a wave of pride wash over her as she watched him give that little smile of his and then retreat back to her side, not feeling the need to link arms with her again. Her little baby was growing up! At least, she compared the feeling she felt to a mother who had watched her shy son accomplish the same feat. “Seems like we’re all new h’re then!” She piped up with a smile on her freckled cheeks. “We should all go ‘splorin’ while we wait for someone to tell us what to do.” With that, Comfort went back over to her and Seth’s luggage and picked it all back up before turning to the new boys. “Oh! So silly of meh not to ask, what ‘re your pow’rs?” She held the bags under her arms as though to prove what her own was. “Mine’s strength, if ya can tell.” The girl then turned to Seth and gave a reassuring nod for him to go ahead and tell the others what his ability was.

Comfort continued to beam as she thought that she was doing rather well fitting in with everyone at the school and she wondered what her new high school life was going to be like with her new friends.

((So, all the other girls are temporarily, er, hopefully temporarily, out of Heltwood, so I think I’ll create a new character with my next post so we can start getting some drama to start! >: ) ))

Seth listened attentively as the two boys explained who they were, where they were from. The basics really. He found that bunny to be weird though, he did not really like the idea of it being able to talk in some kind of secret language. It was kind of like a spy. A fuzzy spy, but still a spy. And his appetite was still unknown, was it carnivorous? Did it require sacrifices? Seth felt as if the really important questions were left unanswered.

Although, Comfort definitely seemed pleased. She seemed to enjoy Seth and his stuffed animal, which he affectionately called Ronan. Seth felt the strong arms of Comfort pick him up off the ground and hug him tightly, while it did hurt momentarily she quickly put him down and apologized for what she had done. "Its okay Comfort, I'm fine." Seth smiled and lifted Ronan to her face, having Ronan 'kiss' her on the cheek. It was childish, yes, but Ronan has been with Seth forever. Gone everywhere. Ronan definitely had to come to this school with Seth. The two boys continued their introductions and Seth listened once more, trying not to ignore them. No matter how nervous they made him, it was not their fault. Well, it was. But hopefully not intentionally

Seth listened most intently on what he found to be the boys knowledge on the campus. Sadly, they knew nothing. Seth did not think they had even come inside before this small get together. Neither of the boys knew were the dorms where, and it seemed as if Comfort and Seth were more or less on their own. Though, Seth came to a silly realization. Comfort is a girl, no doubt they will be in different dorms... so searching together is kind of bitter sweet. Those thought did not last long as Comfort grabbed her own luggage and that of Seth while showing off her strength. Seth smiled a little, glancing over at the boys to see their reactions. After all, it was kind of like Comfort just emasculated them. She nodded at Seth to encourage him to show them his own powers, but he had nothing to show them. He would, if he could. There was nothing to heal. The soreness in his ribs from Comforts hug had been substantially healed by Seth's enhanced regeneration. He put out his right arm, palm facing the two boys. "I can heal things with my hands..." Seth mumbled under his breathe, turning back to the confident Comfort.

She also invited the boys to come exploring with them, which seemed a little interesting for sure. But Seth would stay with Comfort if the time came to split up. "Where will we go look?" Seth turned back to Comfort, both his arms wrapped tightly around Ronan - holding the stuffed animal to his petite chest. I wonder if I should tell them about my ability to heal faster then the average person...nah. Its not important. Seth turned back to the two boys whom still remained at the door. "You two seem timid. You can come in." Seth smiled sweetly, his innocence was like a beacon of hope in this dark place.

The Manor now seemed to have some life to it, people started coming in of varying ages. While there were not a lot of people it was definitely nice to have company. Though Seth still felt a little bad for comfort, where were all the girls? Who would she be staying in her dorm with? Wait, who would Seth share a dorm with? Most dorms have shared rooms, don't they? And if so...

Seth then came to a shocking thought. He would had to share a room with one of these boys, although they seem friendly, they were still strangers! They had not even entered the house! Seth glanced back over to Comfort, she was like his protector. She was the guardian to his innocence, and he the.....sidekick? He was something to her something, some kind of metaphor suitable for the situation. Regardless, in the room...Seth would be by himself.

He now had his full attention on Comfort, would they even have classes together? See each other after this? What if he had nightmares? Who would he wake up when he heard a bump in the middle of the night? Seth ran over to Comfort and hugged her tightly, "Don't leave me Comfort! We just met!"

Derrik gave a friendly smile to Viktor when he finished his introduction, "Nice to meet you too Vik. I agree, maybe more students will show up over time though." At that point Miki began to nudge Derrik's cheek with his nose. "Ki! Mmmi?" It was lunchtime as far as he was concerned. "Please excuse me, I think Miki's hungry." Derrik apologized then placed the small fluff ball in his hand. "Make sure to say 'excuse me' next time. Let me see if there are any carrots and turnips left in my bags. You almost ate them all on the way here!" Derrik went inside to rummage through his luggage and came back with a ziplock bag of baby carrots and sliced turnips. After placing the rabbit back on his shoulder, the blonde fed him a piece of turnip. "There you go buddy. Sure, I'm up for some looking around. Wherever is fine with me." He smiled as Miki took the food and munched happily.

"As for my ability? Well..." Derrik hesitated a bit when the question came up. He debated revealing his half-demon background. "Let's just say I can make and control ice." He said a bit guarded. When Seth cried out for Comfort he felt bad for him. "Don't worry Seth. Being in a new school can be scary sometimes but you have us, you'll be alright. You seem like a good kid. You'll make other friends too as time goes on, learn about the school, and even learn about yourself. Trust me, I'm scared too." He raised one of his hands as though caught by the police and chuckled. He was actually uncertain on how the school would work. Hopefully letting Seth know he wasn't alone would comfort the obviously nervous young man. Miki grabbed his food bag from Derrik's occupied hand with his mouth and hopped over to Seth. He offered his veggies to share. "Mi mi ki." He squeaked as he nudged the bag forward.

Viktor popped an eye open to note the boy hugging the comfort item to his chest. He was about to make a comment, but decided to stay silent until it was his turn for power 'share-and-tell- time. Nodding to Comfort when she described her power, he gave a small chuckle and added a "That wasn't particularly hard to guess." He was amused when Seth described his powers of healing -- those powers matched the boy's personality well, though he tactfully decided to keep his mouth shut about that particular conjecture.

Giving a small "Mm-hmm" to Derrik when the thread about ice manipulation came out of his mouth, he decided most people's powers fit their personality a bit and got to quietly wondering if it was the ability that shaped the person, or the latter that shaped the former? Startled to realize it was his turn to share after the conversation died down, he dismissed the topic rather easily. "My power...doesn't really matter, to be honest. It's not applicable in any practical situation. And even if it could be useful, I can't control it." A slight smile spread across his face. "Besides, I'm only here for a year, and because if I do end up revealing my power and having an accident with it, I won't get lynched. Hopefully." He added after a pause, hopping to his feet and slinging his bag over his shoulder. It was time to go exploring!

He set his stuff down against seemed to be the 'Administration' building right near him, noting the small trickle of other students arriving. Then, with his hands behind his head, informed the others of his intention to find the dorms by 'good old exploration' and hopped energetically off the veranda onto the grass. Without a pause, he began walking towards the other buildings that were not too far away.

Nearly bumping into the young man headed towards what seemed to the the dorms, Asher walked to the center of the campus. In search of faculty or administrators, or even students, Asher kept pace with a brown leather bag slung over his shoulder and another brown case he was rolling behind him.

Whistling and taking in the new scenery, Asher began comparing the Academy and its landscape with what he had been used to. Growing up in Florida, always atleast twenty minutes from the beach, was much different that being in the middle of an old forest in the middle of the country. Asher was wondering just how long with it take to get to a beach, any beach including a lake beach if possible, if he felt the tug of homesickness and needed something familiar.

Homesickness.... Would Asher ever feel that at the Academy or would he be too busy with his studies and focusing his powers to think back to what he left. He'd never been away very long from his two parents and five younger siblings. Two weeks of summer camp had been the longest, but he didn't feel homesick then, did he? No... Not too much, cause it was easy for him to count down the days until he'd be picked up to go back to his regular home routine.

Asher stopped whistling and stood still for a moment... What would his life be like now... Thousands of miles from home and stranded in a place where he knew no one.

Honey had finally emerged from the woods and onto campus. She slowly sauntered in on her belly with her bags on her back. It was so much easier to hold all her bags as a thirty foot alligator rather than a 120 pound girl. It was her third year at the school and she knew drill. As she slithered along the grass she made her way to the OTHER side of the school. There were going to be tons of kids getting sorted out and told what to do and the administration office was just not big enough for all of them to file through. There would be desks with several people with computers getting ready to print off directions for each student in a bigger room near the library.

Honey made her way step by step till she reached a group of obviously new students talking about finding where they needed to go. She had to laugh at them, but instead of her normal human laugh a dark growling erupted from her stomach. She immediately felt a tad bit embarrassed, but it didn't show on her unchanging crocodile face. That was the part that she liked best about her alligator form. It was the ultimate poker face, well that was unless she started to get angry. Sometimes smoke would billow out of her nose and between her teeth when she was starting to get annoyed with people, which immediately gave her emotions away.

She started to walk past the group of people with her eyes shut, but when she opened them she made sure to make direct eye contact with the tiny looking kid with black hair and a stuffed animal. He looked like he needed a good glaring at, just for fun.
