Oh wow! that sounds like a new kinda story for him but It should be a good one! I know he usually likes the darker kinda stories and that story has a touch of it in it, but there's also a lot of color from what I understand, it should be really good though no matter what!

I'm extremely excited now! I've always loved Tim Burtons work, ever since I saw Beetlejuice for the first time when I was younger, and Alice In Wonderland is one of my favorite classic tales. I trust Burton with it. Esspecially after the episode he wrote for Faerie Tale Theatre.

Another title has also been announced for 2010 directed by Burton, called Dark Shadows.

But, he does have movies coming out before these. He's filming Frakenweenie right now, and it's due out December 2009, it's a stop-motion version of the live action movie from 1984. (I think he directed the live action too.)

He's also one of the producers for 9, that's in post-preduction right now and is due out December 2008. Though that isn't soley a Tim Burton project, he isn't directing that one; just helping to produce.

Oh wow, so that would explain the sudden onslaught of Alice in Wonderland discussions I see popping up in a few places.

I do like Tim Burton, my only beef is that I'm a bit concerned that it'll be too .. similar to his other movies? His movies sometimes feel like they "bleed/merge" together. Granted, I do really love his style and I really hope he does a wonderful job.

I've never read the original story, only watched Disney's version and one or two other versions many years ago that I remember little to nothing of.

I hope he does a good job.

I can't wait to see what he'll do with the story. I wonder if it will be live action or a cartoon. Either way, I think it will be an awesome adaptation.

According to OP, it'll be the style of Nightmare Before Christmas (i.e. claymation)

I'm squealing right now.
You can't hear me over the internet, but I am.
And my parents are staring at me.
I am so happy about this.
A gothic Alice in Wonderland is so awesome.
That's one of my favorite stories as well as one of my favorite directors.
LOVE IT!
<333
I can not wait to see this movie, especially if it's being done in that stop animation form.
Those always look so neat.

I've just read a news article on this upcoming feature. Apparently it wont be like Nightmare Before Christmas, but more like Beowulf.

I was out with my cousin today and I told her that Tim Burton's next film would be Alice in Wonderland. She squealed and said, "Nuh-uh! Really?! Are you serious?!" And I replied I was.

She said, "Oh my god, I love Alice in Wonderland!" I said I knew. She asked how I knew. To which I commented, "All little, goth girls love Alice in Wonderland." ... "Nuh-uh." Was her response. "Is that true? My friend loves Alice in Wonderland."

"Is she a girl?" I asked. ... "Yeah."
"Is she goth?" ... "Yeah."

"See, I told you." :B

I've been hearing rumors and stuff about this production. I'm quite excited to see how it turns out. I hope it's done in claymation.
