- Yay, another opening post. Sorry just a few paragraphs to start with. -

The sun rested in mid sky, it was hot but cooling with each day as it got closer to fall. It was boring just like the day before, the previous day and before that. A cool breeze would come by rarely from the massively close sea cooling the blonde hair guy. His mind drifted from the reality of this cage, he would try to amuse himself with magic but there was no need for wasting him time. A yawn of boredom came to the young man's face as he leaned on a marble balcony, he covered his mouth. He mentally cursed those old fools for trapping him in such a boring spot of the world. Of all places he was trapped in the realm where they met, the guardians watched over the worlds never letting them mix. He had been starving to death for centuries, he had a garden in the castle courtyard but he just wave his hand to get food. He wanted someone to enjoy it with, he hated people; mostly humans. Ah the irritating, arrogant creatures how he missed them the most.

His castle was large, his minions were small gargoyle like creatures he made from the cave walls, they amused him but he wanted someone real; someone he didn't create with magic. "Gah, curse you old fools!" He screamed toward the sea in rage. His boredom was slowly driving him insane, he could feel it. He fell to the floor, leaning against the railing for a back rest. He looked around his large room, books where thrown everywhere. The same ones he read over and over, practically memorizing them all. His eyes rested on a portrait of a village, a man and a woman in love celebrating a festival. The man was kissing the woman, it made him miss the company of women. How they always wore the pants in the human relationships, he smiled weakly at the portrait. He felt it mocking him, how he hated to be mocked. He waved his hand toward the portrait catching it a flame, it would mock him no more.

He slammed his head back, starring at the ceiling of the cavern he came to know so well. He hated it, out of all the War Lords he was the one punished. He closed his eyes waiting for the darkness to come and animate the minions he came to care about. Least then he had something to do, they weren't smart far from it but they were cute when he played with them. He opened his eyes and banged the back of his head into the railing, it was going to take a while before he would have some company.

Meilin had been picking flowers outside, when her mother rushed her back inside the house. Looking confused, she asked, " Mother, what's wrong? Is something the matter?"

The mother frantically replied, " The town is being invaded, we have to leave now." The girl's eyes opened wide in fear, and she nodded. Her mother threw things into a suitcase, and grabbed her hand, pulling her out.
" Where are we going, mother?" Meilin asked.
" The subway. Now, hurry!"

Meilin could hear gunshots and shouts as she left the town, and headed towards the subway. Getting inside the vehicle, Meilin thought one last time about her town, the town that she had grown up in. Then, the doors closed, and the subway began to move. Her mother breathed a sigh of relief. They had gotten away from the town, and hopefully, the battle.

It felt like days had pass from the boredom yet the sun only showed a few hours, this irritated him greatly; what didn't. His left eyes twitched as he stood up, the turned to the sun and glared at it. "Set already!" He shouted at the sun, he had tried countless of times to force set the sun; his magic was great but the seals kept it inside of the cavern. He threw a book at the sun only for it to splash into the sea below, he sighed in defeat; he really hated those old men. He slowly walked into his room, stepping over the books he stared at the charred wood frame that was once a portrait. He simply waved his hand and brought the portrait back as if nothing happened; still it mocked him.

He walked out the his room into the massive hallway, whistling bored tunes of old. There was nothing to do in the castle, he even tried to commit suicide in many horrible ways but death would never come. He knew allot of warlocks that would love to have that part of the curse, he himself wasn't found of it. Cobwebs covered the ceilings of his castle, he just left them there was no use of removing them. Darn spiders would just remake them anyhow. He rubbed his neck when he came to the grant entrance, people from all over would travel just to see the marvelously crafted marble flooring of his castle, the pillars made of the same marble, drapery of hand sewn lace enchanting the entire castle. Now no one will ever see it again, he crafted everything with magic, often he renewed the stones with magic. He didn't want his hard work to be ruined from the monstrous time and aging.

Slowly he sat down on the top of the stairs, boredom lingered everywhere. He rather be sentence to the most horrify, torturous hell anyone could ever image then this. When a sigh that echoed within the halls, the man drifted from reality again.

She stayed on the subway, waiting. What was she waiting for? Meilin herself didn't know. She was just there, sitting in the center of the train, and....waiting. Honestly, she thought, The world...the world is full of waiting. You wait to be born, wait to grow up, wait for a husband, wait for a child...and then you wait to die. But...is there something after death? she asked herself, staring up at the ceiling of the car, " Is there really a point to life, if all you ever do is wait?" Meilin had no idea that the last part was said out loud, until her mother spoke sharply towards her, " Of course there is a point! Don't ever say that again!"

More time had past as he fantasied over the girl in the picture, how he wanted that so. He never saw her face but he imaged it was just as lovely as it could be. He smiled lightly over it, the cool breeze away from the ocean, the feel of cobble stone streets. The feel of grass and the sound of laughter. True happiness surrounded in love.

"God!" He hissed hatefully when he snapped back to reality. All he did was fantasize of a world he would never see, for a hand he would never hold or lips he would never kiss. His anger built up within him, it was the stupid romance book filling his head of dreams and hopes. He blasted a large chunk of his castle's entrance away, letting it crumble into the wall of the cavern and into the sea. The earth trembled from the force of his anger, he was getting tired for the end of time to come. It had been over one hundred and twenty thousand years, he stopped counting after that mark.

He stood up and stormed to his room, that book had to go it was causing his want for romance. He hated that. When he got to his room he began to search for the book. Upon mountains and mountains of books he rumbled through. The more he looked at angrier her got. "Where is that stupid book!" He puffed in anger, he hated what it was doing to him.

She was still waiting, when all of a sudden, BOOM!The car shook, and the lights started to flicker in and out. People were panicking, and running about. Meilin herself was trying to keep steady. The car then rolled off the tracks, and everyone inside tumbled about. Meilin herself screamed, and hit her head on the back of a seat. She looked around for her mother, but could not see her.

Then, the car came to a stop, but it was in ruins. The side of the subway was crushed, and the windows were shattered. Many people were injured and hurt. Meilin managed to get away with a few scratches and a throbbing head, but her mother wasn't so lucky. She rushed over, and saw the most terrible site: Meilin's own mother, covered in blood, limbs twisted the wrong way, and crushed by the side of the subway. She gasped in horror, and looked away, tears forming in her eyes.

The same fate had happened to many others in the car, and the survivors were trying to find a way out, as the car had turned upside down, and the doors seemed to show no sign of opening.

Books flew over his shoulders as he continued to search for the mentally traumatizing romance book that filled his head with such thoughts. He had gone through six piles so far but it was nowhere to be found. His anger flashed once again, today was just a horrible day for him. He lived in boredom but today was hard to shake it off, he sighed softly at the mess he made for a book that wasn't even there. He remember it was by the night stand, his memory had fall short today for some reason; maybe he was going insane.

He look out the window trying to hear anything other then the ocean. That was funny, he could have swore he heard a scream; a woman's scream. His eyes widened slightly, he could sense people humans. He stood up and run to the balcony trying to pinpoint the location, a smile appeared on his face. They were within the cavern he was sealed to. Oh how he finally got people to torment. He jumped off the balcony turning into a small bat like creature, he slowly flew down the small tunnel heading towards the humans.

They finally managed to find their way out of the subway car, and led the survivors outside. Meilin took one last look at her broken mother, and left the car.

" Goodbye, Mother...." she whispered as she exited. Her mother did not have to wait for death anymore.

After getting outside, and breathing the fresh air, Meilin decided that she would get through this, even though she had no idea how. She rubbed the back of her head, as it throbbed badly, and winced. She looked around for anything that she could use to tend to her injuries. Nothing. However, Meilin noticed something out of the corner of her eye. Was it a bat?

He was tried, the little body was easily wore out. He hung from the ceiling, looking from a dead corpse to another; he smiled. Guess his rage got the best of him, he then looked at the girl staring at him. If he was in his normal form he would raise a eyebrow. "What are you looking at girl?" He hissed out without thinking, he realized he had speak then tried to act like a bat. His eyes twitched, why even bother she was a little human girl.

He slowly floated to the cart, wondering what it was. He crawl over the side which was now the top. It was so large and silver in color, truly it was a cart of some sort; why else would there be dead bodies of people and chairs inside. He cut himself on the glass and he glared at the cut. He tried to fly off of it but only to fall to the ground, the cut crippled him. He would heal or change back to normal but the girl was too close to him.

The bat like creature was flying around Meilin, then exploring the subway. For a second, she thought that it had muttered something vaguely resembling human speech, but she shook it off. Then, she heard a soft thud on the ground next to her. Looking down, she saw that the bat (that was what she decided to think of it as) had injured itself. Meilin bent down, worried. It was bleeding. Meilin picked the creature up gently, and looked at it, " Oh...you're bleeding...You must hurt a lot," she said to it, even though she figured it couldn't understand her.

He looked at the girl like she was crazy, she had picked him up, him a strange animal not knowing if it had rabies or not. Irritated that the human had man handled him; well bat handled him, he flapped quickly out of her hands. When he was safely away, he dropped to the ground, changing into his real form. I was too dark for anyone to really see him do so which made him sad in a way. He enjoyed the panic reactions from the humans, only the girl could see him. He glared at the girl he didn't like to be touched; well without his consent. He crossed his arms at continued to glare at her, waiting for her reaction.

She gave a small gasp of surprise when the bat started to flap, " Oh!" Meilin giggled a little, its wings tickled her palms.
Then, another gasp, this time, a bigger one, " You...you turned into....A..a human?" she asked the man, confused. Meilin rubbed her eyes to make sure that she wasn't seeing things. Then she pinched herself. " Ah...I'm awake..." she said. Meilin stepped backwards a little, as the glaring from him was making her slightly uncomfortable, " Who..who are you?"

He hissed at the word human, how dare she insult him with that poisonous name. He didn't even fell like replying to her, simple yet rather boring reaction towards him. "What is that?" He asked her pointing the cart, he had never seen one before, seeing how she got out of it; she should know.

He looked at the corpses on the ground and smirked evilly as a idea popped into his head, seeing multiple people still living. He heaved his hand, letting a small fire appear in it; making sure he gotten all their attention. "I would like propose a deal." He said plainly to all the injured people, most held complete panic in their eyes. He shushed them real fast before they could start.

She jumped back once more, frightened by the....man? but intrigued at the same time. What was he? Where did he come from? How could he transform like that?

Meilin's eyes filled up with tears once he pointed out the subway car. " It's...a subway car. It carries people to different places...My mother and I were escaping a war in it, and..it crashed." More tears formed in her eyes as she remembered the disfigured mother that she had left behind, " My mother died in the accident when the car crashed. I survived, and so did some other people..." She gestured to the people, " And...what is your deal, might I ask?"

His cut had fully finished healing as he looked at the cart. "A subway car, how interesting." He said looking at the large device. He looked back at her. "A war?" He smiled, it seems even after all these years war never stop returning to claim it's victims. He chuckled at the memories of the older days. He looked at the corpses again, how easy it was to fix. "You all lost love ones?" He ask the others and they nodded, he chuckled softly. He then turned to a corpse outside of the subway car. Kneeling down to the corpse, the flame turned blue before he dropped it onto the corpse. He softly whispered to the corpse as it began to raise. The young woman looked around scared. "What?" She backed away from the man in fright.

"I will bring your love ones back and take you out of this horrific place, but!" He quickly added loudly. "However for this to be a deal, one of you must say is a companion." He looked at the people wondering who would willing stay, he then turned to the once dead corpse outside of the subway car. She was actually attractive; for a human.

" Yes...a war..." Meilin replied, saddened. She brushed a stray lock of hair away from her face, and looked at the man once more.

When she saw what he had done to the woman outside of the car, Meilin gasped, " You...is that magic?" she asked him, amazed. She couldn't believe that this man was...a magic user? Wizard? Mage? Meilin had never seen anything like it before. She let out a sound of surprise when she heard his offer, " You mean, you'll bring them back? All of them?" Meilin asked the man, hopeful. Then she looked towards the rest of the people, who were whispering amongst themselves. None of them looked like they wanted to stay with a magic user. After all, who knows what he would do with them? Meilin gulped, If I have to do this...I don't know...

He chuckled softly. "Ah, war. As predictable as ever." He said in a mocking tone, oh the lust of death has always been on the humans faults; as well of many things. He placed a cocky smirk on his face. "Yes, it is sorcery." He stated plainly as if it was nothing, it was to him but humans always fussed over it. "I will bring everyone back. Their memories, personal items, everything to do with the one who stays will be ease as if they never existed." He said running a hand in front of her as if mocking his own powers. He looked at them all, it didn't look like any would bite at his offer.

After a second he grow tired of waiting. "Well then, if no one wants their love ones back." He simply snapped his fingers to undo the magic he cast on the girl leaving her a corpse once again. "You humans have grown even more depressing." He stated before turning to leave.

Meilin was shocked. She had never imagined that her mother would come back. Seeing that nobody was going to volunteer, she decided that she would. After all, she understood that they wouldn't want to leave their loved ones if they came back. But if nobody was going to volunteer to bring them back...

As the man turned to leave, she felt a wave of panic rush through the survivors. Meilin had made her choice.

" Wait!" she cried, stepping forward, " I'll stay!"

He stopped at the sound of her voice, he turned half way to look at the girl. Out of all the people the younger girl took the deal. He eyed the rest, they all were going to let this younger girl accept. "Hn." He simply said as a reply. "Out of all the adults here you'll letting a child accept." He hissed at the adults. Malus looked at the young girl. "Agreed." He recreated the blue flames letting it split into multiple sparks to bring the corpses back, he whispered softly in Latin to seal them. He looked at the girl. "Say your farewells, she will never even remember you after this day." He told the girl, she was better then being alone.

She was surprised by the blue flames and sparks, and jumped back, This man...is a little scary... Seeing her mother, and hearing the man's command, Meilin nodded, " G...goodbye, mother," she whispered towards the woman who was climbing out of the subway car. Tears formed in her eyes once more as she turned away. Don't look back, she told herself, If you look, then you'll cry. So don't look, Mei.

She walked towards the man, determined to make a good impression on him. After all, she would be keeping him company for a while. Meilin pushed the thought of her mother to the back of her head, and plastered a smile onto her face, " Nice to meet you, sorcerer. I'm Meilin..."

He was impressed at the girls quick farewell. He whispered in Latin once again, the ground rumble beneath them, his eyes turn bleached white. It took allot of energy to ease their minds and replaced them onto their realms surface. He returned to normal after a second, tired and sweating. He looked at the girl, she was now trapped in the cavern with him, this would be interesting. "Meilin?" He repeated after her, he smirked at the girl. "You may call me Malus." He replied to the girl, he had lost his desire to be mean after years of imprisonment. He held out his hand for the girl to take it, granted he was still weak from the massive spell he had just cast. He could still cast a simple transporting spell.

She was frightened by the sudden change of the environment, but managed to keep it shut inside of her. She took a deep breath, and tried to compose herself. " A-are you all right?" she asked the man, as he appeared to be sweating. Meilin was quite the worrier, and her friends back at home always called her Wart, as in, " Worrywart." She hated the nickname, of course, but they insisted upon calling her that.

Noticing the man had said her name, Meilin hurriedly replied, " U-um, yes, I am Meilin, but you can call me Mei. And...Malus? That is an interesting name," she commented, taking his hand, " If I might ask, where are we going?"

He ignored her question of concern, it was one he never had before. He felt out of shape with his magic, he surely needed to use it more offend. "Home." Was all he replied to the young girl, once she gave him her hand he simply blinked. Blinking was a wordless version of teleporting to anywhere he wanted. He let go of her hand, he had taken her back to his castle of marble and silk. "Your room is up the stairs, to the left, last door on the right." He told her in a hurry. It was the opposite of his, all she needed to do was turn right after the stairs for his, to the end of the hallway and the last door on the left. Her room would be similar to his but without massive piles of books. He looked at the large hold in the wall that he had created ealier and smiled. He needed to fix that.
