Thanks for this announcement! It (and the fact that this has been resolved so quickly) shows how much you care about your users. And even though I guess almost everybody knows to never, ever give away your password, if even just ONE less experienced member learned it by reading this thread, it was well worth it!

Quick question: even if you do have the same user/pass as Gaia, are they able to track you down? And can your account be accessed even without doing anything? (such as a bot that tries every random password until it finds the right one and you're left clueless as to why you're naked again, when you didn't do anything) >___x;

I can't stand scammers like that. :(

Seems bad fish seem to find their ways into even the best communities.
From what I can see they won't get far at all with an excellent staff like this.

For safety reasons you should NEVER have the same PW for different websites, if only because you can never know whether the owner of the website is so fair as to encrypt your PW before saving it. If they don't, either them or a random hacker might easily read the PW and try to use it on other websites they know you frequent.

As for brute force (= trying random PWs), just try to make a safe PW and chances are they will never manage to guess it.

Safe is:

1. Contains letters (upper and lower case) AND numbers and/or special characters
2. Don't contain any words (no matter what language) but rather "random" letters
3. Are fairly long - try not to stay on the lower limit

A good way to create a nice random PW that you can still easily remember is using mnemotechnical sentences like:

"Hi my name is Vicky, I'm 20 and like numbers"

translates to this PW:

"HmniVI20al#"

It's easy to remember, yet still a safe PW.

Has anyone thought of creating a Report Page so people can go there and report what's going on that shouldn't be going on here. Example: Scamming, Hacking. raids from #chan, ect.

I was surprised to see these kinds of idiots here but I'm very happy that you guys are dealing with this.

Hopefully you'll get something like "report PM" soon so you won't have a flood of people filling your inboxes with the PMs they get!
