Mini-Profiles

The runaway boy

A boy who's trying to find and live a good life.

Name: Gian Duncan
Age: 17
Gender: Male

Snake boy

Strangely, he's just that; snake boy with the snake skin and no special powers.

Name: Hebi "Hebs" Takuto
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Reason for being a 'freak': There really isn't any other reason for him being a 'freak'. He's just... different. He's got no special powers but his skin just happens to be one resembling that of a snake. Hell, he even sheds, which is the most disgusting part of his life. Even his eyes were in slits that often made children cry and run away. His mother had to raise him up as he locked himself up in his room and by the time he was seventeen, he'd ran away from home since he didn't want to be a burden to his mother anymore.

Life Man

The man whose things he touch, he can bring to life or to their deaths.

Name: Kratos Juin
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Reason for being a 'freak': The first time he's been conscious of his power was back when he was just a year old. He had his power since he was a baby, which was why his parents had dropped him off to the farthest orphanage they could bring him to. He's considered himself a 'freak' and different from anybody else because he can bring back to life the dead and he could kill the living. Though he hadn't killed any human beings, he's only tried his powers on animals and inanimate objects. It made him the epitome of what humans consider weird.

Mind-movement

A lawyer who can move things with his mind.

Name: Johnny Red
Age: 22
Gender: Male

Aqua Man

A lover of water, do at my bid.

Name: Kenichi Igarashi
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Reason for being a 'freak': Kenichi remembered dying back in the war. He also remembered dying in the ocean so why he's living until the present is still a mystery to him. His love for water started that day he was 'revived' of the sorts, and is now roaming the face of the Earth. He seemed to have stopped aging and looked about the age of 27 - the very day when he was pushed to fight for his country.

Dubbed thee 'beautiful man'

A man born with beauty comparable to angels.

Name: Jae Hyo Kim
Age: 20
Gender: Male

Wishes do come true

Who says genies can only be found in movies?

Name: (No name yet)
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male

The Naga

A young man with the lower half of a bright red mottled serpent.
Name: Álfsól "Alfie" Fanishwar
Age: Eighteen
Gender: Male
Reason for being a 'freak': Also a snake boy, but only his lower half is snake-like--he has a snake-like tail. He has the slight power of hypnotism and can sometimes predict the future. He can't control his power as a seer--his visions just happen sporadically. He often has a strange feeling in his gut before something bad is about to happen.

The Mermen

Two beautiful male sirens with haunting voices and elegant, billowing fins.
Name: Léandre "Léan" Skelter // Arcturus Skelter
Age: Uncertain--somewhere from sixteen to twenty
Gender: Both male, but can bear children due to their species
Reason for being a 'freak': Just that--two male merpeople with fish-like tails. They have a power called 'The Song of the Siren,' which can easily seduce humans of the same or opposite sex and can also will the humans to do whatever the sirens want. It's a beautiful song. Arcturus, who is the younger twin, is rumored to have some sort of magical elemental power, too.

The Ringleader (and the Mind-Reader)

An enigmatic, inhumanely attractive fallen angel with the ability to read minds.
Name: Shadow Jeifer
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Reason for being a 'freak': The mysterious owner of the freak show who also serves as the ringleader for live shows. Not much is known about him. He seems to be strangely omniscient, so he might have the power of mind-reading. It's rumored that he is not a human being.

The Demon Summoner

A young man with the uncanny ability to summon demons and spirits and bend them to his will.
Name: Blake Ashling
Age: Eighteen
Gender: Male
Reason for being a 'freak': He can summon demons up from the Underworld to do his bidding. He can also, at some points, act as a medium and communicate with the souls of the dearly departed. He sees spirits wherever he goes, and he's very sensitive to the dead, making him an unfortunately easy target for malevolent spirits to possess.

The Cecaelian

A rare breed of siren with the bottom half of an octopus and a knack for using black magic.
Name: Rousel Tifaimoana
Age: Uncertain--somewhere from twenty-two to thirty
Gender: Male, but can bear children due to his species
Reason for being a 'freak': He has the bottom half of a large black octopus, and he can also, because of what he is, master using ancient black magic. To an extent, of course.

The Virtuoso

A young man with the ability to control and manipulate others by playing music.
Name: Damon Barrow
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Male
Reason for being a 'freak': He can play every and any instrument known to man like a professional, and the sound of his music, depending on how he plays it, can control other people and bend them to his will.

The Puppet-Master

A sweet, inhumanely attractive angel with the ability to manipulate peoples' bodies however he wishes, like puppets.
Name: Sebastian Jeifer
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Reason for being a 'freak': He can control peoples' bodies against their will as if controlling puppets. He can also take control of their minds and make them speak against their will, as well. He can control up to a hundred people at once (though that would knock the utter wind out of him afterward), but his power is strongest when focused on a single person.

Gian shoved his hands into his pockets and buried his nose into his scarf. It was nearing winter and the weather was getting cold. People were busy buying Christmas gifts here and there, some were busy with the festival and others were, well, celebrating the season with their loved ones. The boy silently watched a couple sharing a kiss not very far from him and he idly wondered just how long he could live. He'd only grabbed a couple of bucks from his mother when he'd decided to run away.

The life he was leading with his biological mother wasn't making him happy. It didn't help either that she was using him to vent out her frustrations on but that, at least, made him stronger. Physically and mentally. Everyday he was running low on cash and everyday, he had to get used to his stomach rumbling once or twice whenever he'd miss a meal. He needed a place to stay, somewhere where he can find... excitement, so to speak.

Just as he was about to get up from his seat, a poster stuck onto a tree caught his attention. Was that...? Yes, it was. It was a poster for a freak show. A smile lit up his face. It looked like his plea for 'excitement' had, at least, been answered now. Duncan quickly got to his feet to look at the details at the bottom left corner of it. It seemed like it was going to be happening tonight. Duncan pulled out what was left of his money and counted it. It was the exact amount of money he had left for him to watch the freak show.

The blond let out a deep sigh and fisted his money in his hand. He looked back at the poster and smiled, mostly to himself. Since he was looking for excitement, it didn't matter if he was going to put all his bet on this single time. Maybe... maybe he could ask the manager or the Ringleader of the freak show if he could stay. Since he really had nowhere else to go and he was looking for something that cannot be found in the norms of the real world, surely, he'd be given the chance, right?

Without even as much of a hesitation, the boy walked out of the park, through the crowded street and walked on towards the destination. Upon arriving at the said location, the male brought up his hand to have it run through his dirty hair. Three days of no bath and him having to sleep on the streets, it wouldn't be surprising at all that he may look a little more than a beggar and that people are trying to avoid him. Rich and poor seem to come in to watch the show and he smiled in awe at what he was seeing.

It was a beautiful sight that Gian Duncan was seeing for the first time.

Hebs frowned at the sight of a boy who was gawking in front of the entrance. Seriously? Why was it that they always get these kinds of guys hanging out of their shows? The snake boy came over to the said blond and nudged him a bit on the shoulder.

"Hey, kid, you watching?" he asked with his brows raised up a bit. When he'd seen him nod after being startled, he held out his hand to get the money from him and smiled. "Well then, enjoy the show." He motioned for him to enter the tent and went back to collecting the money from the folks who wanted to enter and watch the show.

"A single line, please! The show will start in an hour so you folks don' hav' ta worry!"

The only other 'freak' that was out at the moment for the crowds to see as they found seats and purchase souvenirs was the owner and 'ringleader' of the entire show itself. He attracted attention to himself somewhat deliberately...he was nearly shirtless and he freely exposed the odd-looking scars on his left shoulder for the crowd to see. A beautifully-crafted mask covered quite a lot of his face. Taking a closer look at his features, he had eyes the color of molten gold and hair the color of the deep blue sea...he didn't appear to be wearing contacts or have his hair dyed in any way.

He was a mysterious man. Even without him speaking, it was very obvious. He was also quite tall, around six feet four inches.

He was rather quiet and simply observed the visitors as they passed by him. People, as a result, weren't too fond of getting close to him. He didn't really look at people...he looked through them. His eyes appeared to look straight into people's minds, their souls. It was a piercing, omniscient sort of look he fixed everyone with.

He was perfectly happy being avoided by the crowd like he had some sort of terrible disease--he had a smile on his face and greeted people when they greeted him.

Duncan had to apologize a couple of times when he'd bumped into some people. Though he was, indeed, quite out of place and perhaps not dressed for the occasion, all he could do was bring up the scarf to cover the lower half of his face while he continued to thread in with the crowd who were fighting to get seats. Luckily for him, he stepped aside just before he could be pushed at and he hopped back up the steps to get the seat at the very back. It seemed like people had avoided that particular spot because of the view. If one had bad eyesight, this wouldn't be the best seat for them.

That, and the ones with children really did like to get near all the action. He would've had done the same but he didn't want to have anyone be bothered by his current disposition. He was dirty and he was sure his clothes reeked of sweat, grime and perhaps animal feces.

Silently watching the place get filled, his eyes landed on a rather strange-looking, tall man. How tall he was, he wasn't sure but he could guess with the people passing by him. Outside, too, was that snake boy. He didn't look older than he was but people seemed entertained to see him. This place is... awesome, he thought to himself as he smiled. It pushed him all the more to want to see the show and afterwards, ask whoever was the owner of this freak show to take him in. The excitement definitely sparkled in his eyes.

This tall man paid careful attention to the time. He directed his attention at least once every five minutes to a peculiar clock he wore around his wrist--it displayed the time in three different countries and on one different planet than Earth. It seemed to make perfect sense to him, though, because he kept track of the time flawlessly.

It was about twenty minutes before the show was to start when the man, the Ringleader, closed up the front entrance and wouldn't allow more patrons to enter. It appeared to be a full house tonight. He ushered his less-deformed snake boy back inside the tent and took the back entrance around to the rest of the freaks.

He was going to make sure that they were prepared to go on tonight. Hebs was first in line...but that was because he was in charge of the tank this week. Their least mobile freak, the Merman, had to be pushed around in a large tank. The duties of pushing and pulling this tank rotated around the cast. The Ringleader always helped out, and one of the other freaks would help as well. The Merman was second in line. Kratos, their Life Man, was third in the line-up...Alfie was their second snake-boy, and he was much more mutated due to some horrendous genetic defects--he was after Kratos.

The last was the Ringleader himself. He was a mind-reader. He would display his abilities for the crowd to see.

Hebs went in when he was ushered in. He'd rather not be locked out and not do his duties for the night. After all, he knew his responsibilities. When he saw the boy at the far back of the tent, he idly wondered why he wasn't seated anywhere in the crowd and shrugged the thought away. First thing's first. He needed to do his job.

"I'll go get Léan, sir," he told the Ringleader and smiled, "Leave it up to me." He may not be strong but he could handle the tank. He'd worked out for it every single day and not missed any chores to help him with his stamina. Hopping over to the center, he disappeared into the back and brushed past a couple of the freaks. Honestly, the most freak that freaked him out was Kratos. He had the strangest ability amongst them all. Bringing back the dead and taking life is simply a power that held a lot of responsibility. It just amazed him how Kratos handled that.

"Léan, hey," Hebs started as he knocked a little on the tank's glass and smiled with a wave, "We're going to be starting in a bit. You ready?"

Léan had been enjoying a nice nap when his tank was knocked on. He lifted his head to glower at the offender only to find that it wasn't some curious fan--it was the less-mutated snake boy. He idly remembered that he was in charge of moving and taking care of his tank for the time being.

"As ready as I'll be today. I'm not feeling my best..." His voice echoed slightly in the water. The light flashed off of his smooth scales as he stretched underwater, yawning and unintentionally baring those sharp choppers of his.

The Ringleader, upon making sure that everything seemed in order, finally stepped out in front of the crowd to address them. He bowed before speaking.

"Good evening, ladies and gentleman...boys and girls," he greeted, amicably. "Welcome to our show. Our first act will be on in just a moment, so please take bathroom breaks and purchase souvenirs while you can, before the show starts. Thank you."

He disappeared back behind the stage.

Hebs' eyebrows rose just a tad. "Not feeling your best?" he repeated as he worriedly looked at the other, "You sure you should even be out?" Putting his hand on the cold surface of the tank, he turned to look back from where he'd entered. The Ringleader's voice sure was loud. Surely, too, their customers' would've had found his voice enthralling. Hebs knew he did. Hell, he looked up to the mysterious man.

Taking the little iron rings with the chains holding the tank and it together, he slowly moved the tank. It was heavy with all the water, especially but it isn't like this was his first time pulling something like it.

Gian watched the people get up to either go to the bathroom or to buy souvenirs as the Ringleader had suggested. Leaning forward in his seat, he crossed his arms over his knees and watched him disappear to the back. What was in there?

"Léan, I'd appreciate it if you stopped complaining..." The Ringleader had returned. He was leaning against the edge of the tent and looking amused with a small little curved smirk on his face. He walked along with the tank when Hebs began to pull it and helped out--it was an exceedingly heavy tank, though. "I'm aware that you're hungry. I'll fetch you some fish..."

Once the tank was in its proper place near the stage, but not up on it yet, the Ringleader once again slipped away. He always kept a trove of fresh fish in the kitchen for their merman.

Léan scowled and wrinkled his nose a little bit. "...And I'd appreciate it if he didn't do that," he said, flatly. "I don't like having my mind invaded."

Hebs' eyes widened a little in surprise at the Ringleader joining them. He hadn't even noticed his presence until he spoke. It definitely spooked him a bit. Calming his racing heart, he rubbed a bit at his chest and made a face. He seriously shouldn't do that, he thought to himself and crouched down as he ruffled his hair a bit.

Turning to look up at Léan, he laughed lightly at his words and his expression. Yes. He did love his freak family to the extent that he'd even risk his life for them. He's been with them a long time and he's just happy to serve them with as much as he could. "At least he knows when you're hungry?" the snake man offered with a grin.

Kratos grunted at the words Hebs spoke and he gave him a look. "And when you're turned on, I'm sure," the male retorted as he came over to look up at Léan inside the tank. Honestly, 'til now, he fascinated him. It's not normal to see mermans after all.

The redhead tore his gaze away from the merman to look at the snake boy. "I'll be third, after Léan." It didn't sound at all like a question. It sounded more of a statement than a question to Hebs but he saw the boy nod anyway and he took this as a sign for him to prepare. He needed to put up a good show and make sure the dead he'll be giving life won't be going off to cause ruckus or kill anyone. It won't do him good at all if he loses control of them.

Léan was busy looking forward, eagerly, to the prospect of having fresh fish in his belly. His tail swished back and forth and he stared in the direction the Ringleader went in, hopefully. All of a sudden, though, that concentration was broken--it was after Kratos said something about the order they were performing in. He looked around, puzzled.

"...Tell me somebody woke Alfie up." Alfie, their very mutated naga, was nocturnal. He usually slept in until around midnight and had to be physically stirred from his sleep to make the earlier shows. He usually went last so he had time to wake up.

Kratos stopped in his tracks to turn and look at the merman and then down at the horrified look on the snake-boy's face. He could very well see that he hadn't done his job. They really needed another worker to work around here for the matters Hebs can't attend to. Hebs was still human no matter how one would see him and inasmuch as he'd want to offer his help, his minions that he'd revive from the dead would no longer be but live men and women who thought for themselves.

Which is why it's dangerous if they ever get out of his sight.

"I'll wake him up," he told them with a rather amused smile at Hebs' surprised look, "You have to take care of Léan's tank. You do your job well." With that said, he went off to where he knew Alfie would be. He'd passed by him a while ago and he had honestly thought the show wouldn't be until later, which was strange. Seeing one of the coffins nearby, he brought the little cat to life and motioned to the snake. "Think you could wake him up for me?" he asked the little one who purred and skittered over to the mutated naga. It licked its face first, nudged his cheek and then climbed on over to mess up the mutated naga's hair.

Alfie hissed in his sleep, ever so lightly. His tail started to slip out from the tight coil it had been in as he woke up. He yawned, flashing an impressive set of choppers and two long fangs, and then reached up to scratch his head. He was very odd-looking, even for a naga. Only his lower half was snake-like in outward appearance...he did have fangs and sharp teeth, and a forked tongue. He also had some odd, wing-like spiky protrusions coming out from his back.

He was just...plain strange-looking. It attracted him a lot of attention, to say the least. He flipped his ginger-colored hair out of his face, rubbing at his eyes.

"...Why is there a zombie-cat on me?" he asked, plainly. He referred to most of Kratos' 'creations' as zombies. Mostly because he had an underlying obsession with the undead, which he was sure his 'family members' knew about.

Kratos didn't exactly have an underlying obsession with the undead. He just, well, would rather have to control the undead than to have the living ones die. It's the very reason why he wouldn't dare touch his co-freak members. "Why not?" he asked as he chuckled, "The show's about to start and Léan was asking if you were awake."

"Figured you'd still be asleep." Motioning for the dead cat to come back to him, he let him jump into the box and pointed his index finger at him. A black sort of smoke appeared from around the dead cat as it mewled its last mewl. The said floating black smoke came close to Kratos' hand and Kratos immediately grabbed ahold of it. Only then did it turn to white dust. It would definitely appear like magic to normal human beings but for him, he had seen the cat's soul and kept it in within his mind. As long as he remembered its soul shape and form, he could easily revive it anytime.

His mind was like a drawer of the sorts where he can easily pick out a file and summon its soul to come back to take the body he'd give it. "Are you going to stay awake or will I have to let dead rats come and wake you again?" Has he mentioned that he actually liked making fun sometimes of his co-freak members?

The very tip of Alfie's tail twitched back and forth curiously. He stretched himself out a little more, yawning again. "I'm up, I'm up. Sheesh..." Suddenly, Kratos' words seemed to hit him, and he looked a little panicked. "Wha...it's about to start?!" He usually had an hour or so to prepare before going on stage. "Aww...there goes my me-time before the show."

He slid down off of his resting place and landed neatly on the ground. He was able to raise himself up to at least five feet eight inches tall, so he wasn't too short. He just didn't have legs...at all.

"I'd better get me some grub before I go on, then. I can't work on an empty stomach..." Alfie slithered away, off towards their communal kitchen.

The panicked Alfie was new to him and he blinked a little. "Yeah," he replied with a raised brow and listened to him speak his next words. His... me-time? Frowning a little, the male shook his head and smirked slightly. "Try not to be too full," he called after him and went off to his own usual spot to prepare himself and think of the order of his presentation.

((Perhaps we should skip it? Then we could get right to properly introducing Gian to the 'family.'))

Alfie ran into the Ringleader in the kitchen, who was fetching fish for their merman, and shared a quick conversation with him about the performances today. He proceeded to grab some of the leftover meatloaf from the other night and shove it down his throat hungrily. He needed a lot of food to function during the day.

[[ Works for me. x3 ]]

The show was absolutely fantastic. It was colorful; it was mysterious; it was fun; it was honestly everything Gian had thought it'd be in a freak show. Apparently, everyone else had enjoyed the show because at the end of it, they had all stood up and clapped for the 'family' of freaks. Gian did too and he smiled brightly. So the tall, mysterious looking guy with the mask on was the Ringleader or the head of their group. He knew now who to approach and he seated himself back down in his seat. Waiting for the people to file out, he brushed past a few and hopped over the bar to get to the center. He wasn't sure if he'd be caught this way but he peeked behind the curtains to see if he could find the freaks inside. After seeing their show, it just made him want to be part of them all the more - even if it meant him having to do their laundries and the likes.

Where... am I supposed to find the Ringleader after the show? eh thought to himself, looking rather troubled.

"Are you fond of sneaking about in places you shouldn't be?"

The Ringleader had seen him break away from the crowd and had, out of curiosity, trailed after him. He'd made sure not to let him see him. Sneaking up on people was a great hobby of his. He smiled at the boy, extending his hand.

"In case you didn't catch my name earlier...it's Shadow. A pleasure to meet you...Gian." He knew his name...without even asking. He'd displayed his mind-reading powers for the crowd, so he was hoping it wasn't too much of a shock for the boy to hear his name...

Gian almost stumbled forward at that question. He hadn't expected it at all. Managing to get ahold of his composure, though, with the help of the curtain, he quickly straightened up and cleared his throat. He wiped his hands on his dirty coat and was just about to take the Ringleader's hand when he'd seen how clean it was. Ah, was the first thought that went into his mind before he'd retrieved his hand back and grinned sheepishly at him.

"Sorry about that. I didn't mean to sneak like that. I just... well, was looking for you, Shadow," he started, nodding at the introduction and the pleasures exchanged. He knew what Shadow was capable of after the little show a while ago. Hell, he knew what the family of freaks were able to do after they'd displayed their talents. He wasn't sure, though, if some of them used magic but they were as realistic as hell.

Shadow dropped his hand, looking amused. He had yet to take his mask off. The only ones who saw him without his mask on were the other members of his family, mostly. He stood back up to his full height, seeming curious.

"Looking for me, you say?" He tried not to poke around in peoples' minds any more than he had to. Sometimes it was just needed, like to look for someone's name or if he was in the middle of a life or death situation. And oftentimes he couldn't when he was overly tired.

He was growing tired. Therefore he didn't want to expend any more energy than he had to.

"Yes, sir," he replied as he brought up a hand to rub the back of his neck. How was he going to say it? Should he just go with a direct approach or...

"I want to join your family." Maybe he went for the direct approach but that wasn't enough to explain why he wanted to join the Ringleader's family so he continued on speaking before Shadow could do so. He could also see the exhaustion in the man's eyes so he decided, too, to make this quick. "I may not be worthy enough since I'm not a freak but I want to join your family... even if I just happen to clean the cages, wash the dishes and do the laundry." He'd have said cooking but he wasn't very good at that. He'd also missed out on the detail that he wanted to live a good and exciting life.

Should he be accepted, he was sure he'd be finding it within the freaks in the 'family'.

Shadow had suspected as much, but he hadn't been certain. He folded his hands together neatly as he stood there, an amused little smile playing its way across his face. The boy didn't appear to have any special abilities...he would let the others be the judge of that, he supposed. He figured he was going to have to keep this mask on until he trusted the boy. He had an attractive face...but looks were more powerful than they seemed, and he didn't want this boy to memorize his face and end up leaving...

He patted his shoulder, somewhat gently. "You may stay. However, I will place you in charge of the one job that seems to cause us all the most trouble. And that is taking care of Léandre, the merman. It is a hassle pulling and pushing his tank around, and making sure the water is clean...and making sure he has food at the ready when he needs it. He is helpless on land and can't move around by himself."

Shadow straightened a bit. "If you can keep him content for a week, I will formally accept you into our family."
