IN THE DIARY OF GAMES…

Hey there, high-rollers! I’m Mai, pleasure to be here with you all. I’m hoping that this thread title will be pretty self-explanatory, but if not, here’s the low-down anyway:

Though there are not that many user events, when they happen, the users putting them on give them their all. In order to provide the most fun for the Menewsha community, the User Event Staff rely largely on feedback from prior events, whether official Menewsha events, or previous user events. The Menewsha Staff rely on user feedback on all events, as well (okay, I’m making an assumption here, but I’m going to bet I’m correct. Haha, bet, get it? It’s a casino event, and… okay, I’ll stop).

I know that, for me at least, events tend to go by in a blur, and when it’s all over I’m left with a feeling of “That was great!” or “It could have been better,” without a definite reason for WHY. And I hate not being able to leave feedback above, “Gr8 event, lol. Make moar like this, plz!”

Horrible memory of mine aside, I thought that it could perhaps be the same for my fellow Menewshans, which is why I proposed this thread to Lilith W (and she okayed it; thanks, Lilith!).

The basic idea of this thread is that you, the members of Menewsha and the patrons of this Casino event, give feedback every day in return for a chance to win GOLD, instead of after the event when your memories might be fuzzy and dull from lack of sleep and fun-fun-fun. Great deal, right? Right.

Then let’s get down to business!

HOW THIS WORKS

I will be reading all of feedback posted in this thread and evaluating each individual post on how constructive\helpful\explanatory it was. I may be asking the actual staff of the event for their take on the posts, too; just not during the event, since they’re busy. The writer(s) of the 3 most constructive\helpful\explanatory posts at the end of the event win(s) 2,000 gold!

Just a note, “helpful” does not mean posts consisting of “This event is lame.” or “This is so much fun!” with nothing else to explain WHY. That’s not saying you can’t post such things; you just won’t have a very high chance of scoring gold.

With that said, posts don’t have to be uber-long OR super-short. Content is key, not length.

Lilith W has spoken: “[It would help us if you left] feedback on the games; if they are fun, confusing, etc. Are the prizes good? Does the place (event threads) look nice?” Of course, any other feedback would also be greatly appreciated, I’m sure.

Results will be posted in the Community Discussion forum 1-2 weeks after the end of the event. The winner(s) will be pinged.

RULES

1. Each individual user may post feedback on the Casino event in this thread 1 time a day, every day until this event ends. You do not have to post every single day of the event, but it might help you win more gold if you post very helpful feedback as often as allowed.
2. Feedback may be edited on the same day it was posted if you thought of something to change\add. That means no editing a post the day after it was posted.
3. You do not have to be super-active or lurking in all of the threads in the event; just post feedback on what you’ve been participating in\seen going on. In other words, write what you know!
4. No mules.
5. Please no chit-chat in this thread; feedback only! If casual chatter starts, I’ll post a gentle reminder about this rule. If it continues, further action will be taken to stop it.
6. No copying others’ feedback posts, or closely imitating them either. If I see that happening, the copying post will not be eligible to win the prize. Multiple cases by a single user will result in the user him\herself being ineligible to win.
7. You do not have to love or even like the event to win; however, being overly negative and critical without plausible reason will not get you the prize. In other words, be honest, explain your reasoning, and be polite.
8. I reserve the right to change these rules at any time.

PRIZES

Most constructive\helpful\explanatory feedback post = 2,000 gold for 3 posts.

So, 1 really super-duper helpful post by 1 user ropes that user 2,000 gold.

2 very helpful posts by 1 user gets them 4,000 gold.

If 1 user writes 3 of the most amazingly helpful posts, he\she will win 6,000 gold!

Is this where I can complain about my master...I mean owner...err...the person that pulls my strings abusing me and making me do her event work?

*Mai points to How This Works and Rules*

You should hopefully find explanations about what to post and not post there. :) If you don't, just ask me. I'm going to assume you're kidding, though, so I will say that serious feedback is highly valued over jokes.

Event Feedback from Siri~

I'm just going to go ahead and post some feedback right now, if that's alright? It might be more helpful now during the middle of the event than if I posted it toward the end when it would be too late to make any changes to this one.

The Good:
- The prizes are wonderful and really encourage participation. I can really tell that you had spent a lot of time planning and collecting items for the event.
- I love the theme--it's well thought out and very cohesive. The games reflect the theme and really make it feel like you're in a casino here on Mene. EDIT: I forgot to mention this initially, but part of what helps with the theme is the outfits that the people running the games are wearing. It's nice to see everyone in casino-gear. : )
- Dice rolling games are great! I really find them fun, even if they're simplistic.
- Thank you for including the avatar contest and writing contest--I know each event has them, but they're always a safe bet and so much fun!

Possible Improvements:
- Some of the game threads have too much going on at once. I don't have the attention span to read through all the rules each time. This is a problem for me when there are 3 games going on in a single thread. By the time I read through all the rules, I get everything mixed up and don't remember the specific rules for the game that I want to play. Haha, I end up leaving without participating--maybe just posting a 'hi' to everyone in the thread.
- Earlier, I mentioned how much I love dice-rolling games, but there might be too many of them in this event. I know that it's a casino, so they fit in really well, but I just feel like I'm doing a lot of dice-rolling hoping to get lucky each day. I think it would be nice to have more of a variety for future events (but still keep some dice-rolling games!)
- I know that you can't do much about it, but the event doesn't seem as active as the last one. Would it be against the rules to advertise the event in your signatures and post elsewhere on the site to maybe draw more people in here? : )

So these are just the things that stood out to me from the first few days. I haven't been participating too much as my weekend has been somewhat hectic. I'll leave some more feedback after I spend even more time here.

Thank you for putting this together for us! It's been a while since we've had an event and it definitely helps keep Mene active.

Sorry Mai but I'm going to post to respond to things. I hope you don't mind terribly.

First off I love how you said Improvements and not The Bad.

I totally get this. And I know the two worst are the ones I'm running. The magic show has a lot going on. Four games in fact. We wanted two games because me and Silver always host together. And then we thought we wanted to have more so that it would seem like a magic show. But it is busy because of this.

Then the Front Desk is really bad. It was just suppost to have the lotto in it but then our slots game was cancelled. I didn't think a casino would be much fun without slots so I added it there.

Lol, I agree there is a lot of dice rolling. And a lot of luck. But really isn't all that a casino is. If you show any amount of knowledge they usually kick you out. The simple fact is that the dice were the easiest and best way to make most of the games work.

We can in our siggys but it doesn't mean much if we are all only in here. And we can't just randomly go into a thread and tell people to come to us.
I think most people don't realize there is an event because they moved where the forum is. For some reason it is stuck in the contest forum where it has never been before.

Alright; so the event is new. Just one complaint so far.

The banners.

As a graphic designer they irk me. While they aren't absolutely terrible, they are far from professional ):
I would suggest getting a better person to do the graphics, even hiring someone from the graphics shops.

Or poke me and I'll do it >.<

otherwise, everything seems fine so far!

Aw, that breaks my heart since I made them.

And I tried to get someone else to do them. No one would. There are like no graphics shops. I even was requesting in my art request thread for banner makes. I was willing to pay 7k for the banners plus items if need be. No offers.

I looked and failed. I asked and failed. I begged and failed. So you got my banners.

Just a little bit of feedback - wanted to say that I have a different opinion on the banners - I have really enjoyed the graphics and the red/black theme. It makes things look nice and cohesive and gives me the feeling of "event"ness (i.e. not just random game-related threads, but an intentional collective of threads). Plus the avi art on the graphics was really cute :)

lol, thanks. I was actually joking a bit with the last post. I agree that I like to see events that have matching banners. *sigh* the art is really pretty. Still waiting on some of it too.

Well actually I had typed up all of that before I read any of the other feedback - the only thing I went back and changed after I read it was I added "I have a different opinion of the banners" so it really wasn't a reaction to anything previously said

For my little piece of feedback, I wanted to echo a previous mention about how complicated some of the game threads are. I find that I've started to hang out on just one or two, because the others seem to have just too much going on to keep track of properly. I don't want to have to keep five tabs open just to keep an eye on all the different games and conversations, and I find that if there are too many things going on in one place, I'll just leave again. And while having the Slots in the Front Desk thread was a good way to keep it from being cancelled all together, it seemed to get a little lost in the rest of the posts there, and the rules and directions weren't exactly clear. I kept going back and trying to read them and finding myself even more confused because it didn't look like the Slots game stats were being updated at all to reflect people playing. It made me feel like the game was being neglected, and I wasn't sure when I could roll my dice.

On the upside, I do enjoy the game I've taken to hanging around in. The Bunny Roulette is fun and easy, and I find that the people who have been hanging out there are fun to chat with between rounds of the game. We seem to have taken it upon ourselves to find cute bunny images to post to keep each other occupied, which is fun in and of itself, and the one running the game doesn't seem to mind.

I've also noticed that this event isn't as active as the last one, and I'm not sure why, but I really don't know of any way to improve that.

Well, here is my feedback. C:

While it might be because I am used to active thread, active sites, keeping up with threads did not bother me too much. Some of them felt far too slow in fact! I wish there had been more chatting, but it's not really host fault - they all were wonderful and talked with thread visitors.

As for games... They all were fun, although, some I didn't manage to figure out. ^^; Some seemed complicated at first, but turned out to not be so. I think some asked for nearly 10-18 hours a day attendance, though, to assure any win, which wasn't so nice, except you "don't have a life". Also, dice games are fun, but it would be nice if there had been few other. One, like match game, unfortunately never got enough players and it took up a lot of time, too, because lack of players.
Also, I would think about not making art and writing contests in the future... As fun as they are, they get very little attention and sometimes not the best quality entries that still get prizes just cause they are there and prizes must be handed out.

Small minus was the lack of html tags around the forms. Especially before you memorized them, it was easy to make mistakes. In poker game, I usually quoted and then copied the form from someone 'cause taking those spaces just get so tiring and form still looks messed up more often than not.

All in all, I enjoyed this event quite a lot. Hosts were nice, threads were nice, people that chatted in them were nice, and prizes were nice, too! xD Big thank you to all hosts, creators and helpers. C:

I don't have much feedback to leave, but I would like to say this:

Even though there was a whole lot of "activity", this user event has been really awesome. I wasn't expecting to win a lot of gold and items. I just came to this event just to enjoy it and to have fun. I already have all the items I almost wanted on Mene, so I decided to just take it slow during this event.

The games were great, even though I didn't roll the dice every hour on the poker game. The slots were awesome! The Event Mule, Jacks of Clubs was wonderful.

Lilith W and all the hosts did a fantastic job hosting and making this event possible. Sorry if I didn't make everyone. I just don't have time left to type this feedback

I really like the generosity of the hosts, and how awesome the games were. The user threads were great as well.

I have no "un-delightful" feedback for this event. I can't say anything bad about it. ^_^; Thanks for everything!

Hope to see another one sometime in the future. Doesn't have to be next year, but it can be whenever you can think of it/come up with it/plan it. ^_^;
