Introduction

Story:
Technology has always sought to push the very boundaries of what man is able to accomplish. The invention of flight, electricity, the internet, and the extended living that we have granted ourselves with medicine. But what happens if all of this is taken away? If we find ourselves in a land where the technology has been taken away and we are forced back to the dark ages. Many people believe we would simply die out, but that... This is about to be put to the test.

The greatest scientists in the world have come together for a project of amazing proportions, the creation of a time machine. The time machine is said to be able to shoot you through a black hole and recreate you on the other side, where another tangent and another time of our universe could be found. Many people of different walks of life volunteered for this experiment, some of them to make a quick buck, others to explore the wonders of the old world, and the unfortunate ones that hope to take advantage with their own technology.

However, the scientists did not tell these people the risks of going to the other side, they simply wanted to use these people as beta testers. Unfortunately for the testers, the first batch of time machines had a problem... A lacking power source to return home. The problems compounded for the scientists, as they knew of no new power sources on the other side and they were unable to send this message to them. They would receive no responses on the communicators, and nothing in response to their attempts to return home.

If this was not enough, the people of the old world were nervous about these newcomers. The people from the future would have to find a way to survive, and they needed to learn from the original people who once lived here.

Description of Surroundings:
Jungle. Dense in most areas with few clearings. No sight of any villages unless the 'player' chooses to climb one of the taller trees (about a 70 ft climb). Jungle is full of creatures that can be entirely up to the players. Base it upon 'earth' jungles or create creatures of your own, just be sure to put enough detail into the description, easing the confusion for other players.
---Summary---

You (and whoever else decided to test the time machines) find themselves in the dark ages of another world. You are surrounded by various civilizations that do not know what to make of you, and you are forced to either interact with them or find your own way to live in this foreign land. Please be sure to make your character with respect to other characters. Do not make it so your character is impervious to all attacks from swords, spears, bows, and weapons of that manner.

[bump.... Waiting for people to join. Currently turning this into a post...

Please note that I have updated the roleplay with a general setting. The majority of the rp will take place in a 'jungle'. Other areas can be made as the characters advance out of the jungle. Just be sure to pay attention to the location of other characters.]

Deep within the jungle, there were many sounds. Sounds of growing, roaring, hooting, shouting, squeaking, and many other sounds which could not even be given a description. To the man who had just entered this jungle, this was perfect. A world where the hustle and bustle of the everyday could not give him a headache. Where the loud demands and the loud electronics could no longer invade his thoughts. All of this seemed somewhat odd given the fact that he was probably the most expensive piece of hardware here. The only thing he could see for miles was... Nature. The animals of this nature invading his ears with various noises. He would inhale through his nostrils, smelling nothing but the calm and pure rain. Finally, he could reach a point of inspiration... Maybe.

Marco walked toward the nearest tree that looked like a good spot to sit. At first, he was a bit uncomfortable, sighing as he adjusted himself on the slight incline until he found something that would work for him. At this point, he was already missing his cushioned seats. But he would fight through the small inconvenience. After all, comfort was not the prime concern that he had on his mind right now. Despite his orders to collect 'samples' of the local vegetation, he pulled out a notebook and a pencil, placing the pencil in his mouth really quick as he flipped a few pages of previous drawings. Very well drawn, but nothing more than carbon copies of things he had seen before, all drawn by his enhancements, not by him. He sat there for a few minutes before he began scribbling something down, quickly erasing it as he found himself irritated with his impatient nature.

At this point, the man known as Adam Hellens was not aware that his time machine was not functioning. As the last of its power drained down to the point where there was no return, he was blissfully unaware of the fact that he could not return.

The life of a forager in this jungle was typically an uneventful one. At least, uneventful in terms of drastic world-altering events. The days came and went, and although things happened, they came and went just as easily as the days and nights. All the while, they sang along with the music of the jungle. Everything in this world was a song, whether it was an aggressive staccato of conflict or a sweet and graceful legato of a mother singing to her child.

Today, the entire jungle seemed to be irritated. The sounds and rhythms that Ayo and her people had been tuned into for generations were misplaced. The birds were singing a different tune and there were entire pieces of the orchestra missing. So to investigate, a hunting party was sent out for small animals while the women gathered food and supplies. This way, the day's work would continue, the younger boys could get to learn new hunting tricks, and one of the groups would certainly discover what was disturbing the jungle.

Ayo hummed along with the other women as they cut a ripe crop of some of their favorite fruits from a bush. She wasn't particularly interested in this task, as she--like several other younger girls in the band--had a particular distaste for this fruit. There was, however, a tree that she knew of nearby with a much better fruit that was out of reach to the older women. She rounded up these girls and began to climb the tree with a group of giggling girls waiting to catch falling fruit. She shimmied up the tree with ease and quickly found herself on a sturdy limb, picking the hard-shelled fruits and tossing them down so as to make the girls run around with baskets to catch them. They had gotten so good at this they rarely missed anymore, except for one that rolled away down a hill.

Not wanting to lead the children too far away, she returned to the ground and sent them back to their mothers while she chased down the runaway fruit. It couldn't get very far on this terrain, which was the only reason she bothered with it. If it led her out of earshot of the other women, it wouldn't be worth it. Little did she know that one runaway fruit was going to flip her world over. She sang along in an echo to the main group's song, in order to keep connected, up until she found her prized fruit. Which rested but inches away from something completely unfamiliar. Instantly, her guard was up and she slid behind the nearest tree hoping she hadn't been spotted.

Adam was once again the human printer as he eyeballed the forest in front of him. Everything he saw was copied down with a perfection that could not be matched. However, in his world, this was not impressive unless you lacked the upgrades that improved your style. Every leaf, tree, bush, fruit, and patch of dirt was quickly shaded as he put down the final touches on his art. He sighed, shaking his head, "I... I don't feel it." Above his head, a leaf was blown through the breeze.

A large leaf was folded upward, it looked as though it was a giant ladel which held a few gallons of water on the inside of it. This slight breeze would bend the weaker edges of the leaf forward, giving it just enough push to cause the leaf to start leaking water. Adam felt droplets of water drop upon his head, he looked upward, noting the leaf above his head, but not being too worried about it.

That was whe he heard a noise. A quiet thump followed by the rustling of some braches. He lifted his head, eyes focusing in the area where the noise came from. He saw nothing, but the sound worried him a bit. He was in a foriegn land... He hadn't even seen a jungle in his lifetime, the earth lost those beauties long ago. He had only seen them in legends, and a recent movie that was poorly made... And cheesy.

He would place the notepad down to the left of him, placing a hand on the ground and using it to push him up. "Hello? Is anybody there?" He slowly made his way in the direction of the woman, not knowing what he would find. This was when there was another gust of wind, blasting itself against the tree and causing the leaf to fold outward, exposing the water to the outside world. It fell downward quickly, splashing against Adam as he felt his clothing suddenly soaked with water. Adam slipped from the force of the water hitting him, his body hitting the ground hard as he felt a pain shoot through his body. "Damn it!" He said as he rubbed the back of his head, still reeling from banging against a branch that was sticking out of the ground. He looked over to the left quickly once again, noting that his notepad was coated with water as well. The pages were useless in this condition, and suddenly the reason he came here felt worthless. Now, he wanted to go home, and he was entirely distracted, his mind was no longer on the noise that was just out of his field of vision.

Ayo watched this stranger carefully, measuring up everything about him that made him seem so foreign. He didn't seem to come from any place she had been before. Which, for the most part, made him a potential threat. Her focus on him led her to stop responding to the group song, and so the group changed their song as they sent a couple of the mothers after her.

The stranger seemed to have taken notice of the sounds, and suddenly Ayo felt the need to shrink her already small body. She pulled herself away from the tree, further out of sight. She didn't want to leave, though. This stranger might have had something to do with the new chattering across the jungle. As she moved closer to the ground, into shadows, a breeze passed through the area. It caused the leaves higher up in the trees to move, and the water they held began to shift around.

A stronger force of wind caused the water to splash down on top of this stranger, soaking him and causing him to slip from the shock. As he fell to the ground, Ayo let out a soft giggle as if she was laughing at some sort of joke. He seemed to put off by the event, and Ayo felt safer seeing how this stranger managed himself in her homeland. She stood up and gave a solid, sing-song response back to the group. She would return shortly, as soon as she got her fruit back. Now completely unafraid, she walked out from the shadows of the foliage to retrieve her prize. She giggled a few more times as she walked past the stranger, but otherwise completely ignored his presence as she sat down, cracked the shell open against a tree and began scooping out the sweet pulp with her hands.

Adam was annoyed obviously, removing his shirt and wringing it out as he attempted to remove the water from his body. "Well... This just is a nice way to start," He said this to nobody in particular, simply needing a venting area. That was when he turned around, seeing that the water had drenched his pad as well. He bent over and picked it up, seeing that his original image was no longer there and the water had caused the pages to become warped. This only increased the headache as he carelessly tossed the pad into the forest. That was when the noise caught his ear again, he quickly put his shirt back on and turned toward the noise, and suddenly the mystery was solved.

It was a woman from the local wilderness. Adam suddenly found himself filling with many questions. In all of these questions the one that was the most important was a simple manner of speech, could she speak English? His communication with this woman mattered entirely on that. While he was well aware that English was an incredibly old language, he was unsure if this period in history at this specific location contained that language. That was when he heard a familiar noise, giggling. She was laughing at him. Adam's expression would change from wonder to something of an amused expression himself. He realized that he must have looked pretty foolish with that fall, failing to steady himself earlier. In an absent mind he commented upon it, "Oh... Like you've never fell on your ass before." He smiled a bit and suddenly came to reality again. "Do.... You... speak... English?" He found himself making hand signals as though he was talking to someone from another country. However, his hand gestures were suddenly slowed down as he found himself at English, he knew no hand signal that would represent the word English, so he simply held his hands in place for a moment, waiting for a response.

(Sorry for posting so late. I forgot to subscribe and forgot to check it out too.)

Seandra wiped her blouse off and looked around. She seemed to be in some type of jungle. Not a 90's club. She looked at her clothes. 'Great. Now I'm all dirty.' she thought sourly. She hear the sound of a roar from far away, and other outdoors sounds like animals and running water surrounded her.

"Ayo! Take me back! This is wrong!" she shouted. Her only reply was the sound of a bird sqwaucking above her in a tree. "Take me back! I need to go back!" she shouted again. She recieved the same reply. Seandra frowned and looke4d around. She knew she shouldn't have tried this. Time travel would be and always be a failure. All she'd wanted was to go to the 90's. experience a Biggy concert, shake Tupac's hand, go to a live taping of the show Martin. But no. She was stuck in the damn jungle. She wondered if anyone knew that the operation had gone wrong. She'd told everyone she was going. They had to know they'd done something wrong.

Seandra looked in her pocket for her ipod, so she'd be able to see the time, but remembered that they'd taken all electronics from her before she went in. They couldn't risk the inventions being shown to people and invented before their time. It'd ruin history. She looked at her wrist. Her watch was still there. It said it was only about 5 o'clock. Dinner time. She was pretty hungry. She'd have to catch her own food.

((so sorry! I haven't had a break from school at all! :( ))

She stopped munching on her fruit as this foreign man started speaking in foreign words. Her eyes grew big with an enormous wonder at how this creature could look and sound so similar and different at the same time. The first time he spoke, she knew how different they really were. His language sounded very flat to her. And when he started speaking slowly, he moved his hands with his words. When he pointed at her, she suddenly felt very inexplicably offended. Something about this communication felt like she being treated as if she were a little child all over again.

Against her initial reaction to behave poorly toward this fool, Ayo instead became curious about the sounds of his language. She furrowed his brows with concentration as she recalled the sounds of the last word. "Eh...er..eeeee..." she started, playing with the sound fluctuations. She skipped the middle of the word, however, to go to a more familiar sound: "Shhhhhhh!" She continued with the word. "Err...in...een...el..sh?" She watched the man for any cues that she was making the right sounds.
