I have tried some tutorials but with the hands it never turns out right. I was thinking of maybe starting to draw the structure of the body, like joins and everything, first. I just start sketching then outline it now but I think the body structure might help me a bit.

After growing to what skills I have now, I kinda hope that I started off with the basics. Anatomy studying. especially.
but of course young and naive me is too eager to run before knowing how to stand.
I would recommend people to put focus on basic before going to the details.

of course, it also depends on individuals. Some people start out from the hair and eyes, the head part then going downward.

That would probably be me :/ MY hair isn't as bad as it usually would be and I can make they eyes look pretty good but my head shapes lack....well shape.

The most important thing is realise your weakness, solve it. and find the best learning way that suit you.
Nolala, the instant I read some tutorials about how to draw certain things, I instantly improve the way I draw. Strongly suggest you to look up for tutorials.
