Deep in Ancient Asia, before man ever walked the earth, only two creatures existed. A mighty phoenix of fire and a fiersome dragon of wind. The two however were deadly, natural enemies. They fought day in and day out, yet, as they fought, things were being created. Their battles caused mountains to rise, flora and fauna to begin life, deep grooves in the earth for rivers to flow, and finally, man to walk for the first time. Yet still their battles raged, and as man grew in their intelligence, they knew that if the fighting continued, the world would return to the waste land it originally was. So finally a small group of men and women were chosen. They practised night and day in the arts of magic, until eventually they were strong enough. Together they approached the great beings and, with all of their power, they trapped both of them into two orbs, the phoenix in one that glowed so bright you could not look directly at it, the dragon in another so black you could be lost in its depths if you stared at it for too long. They locked these orbs away in separate rooms and with each generation, each orb had its own separate guardian. For as the prophecy went, if ever the Phoenix and Dragon escaped, the world would surely be destroyed.

One day, a pair of brothers had passed their training, and were entrusted to the care of the orbs. Their grand father came to make sure they were doing a good job, when two, unearthly screeches were heard behind the doors to the two rooms separating the orbs. They rushed to the rooms, to find both orbs had vanished without a trace. A thousand years later, two boys meet, entirely different in appearance, personality and life style. One is filthy rich, the other dirt poor, one smart but can't run a couple of steps, the other very sporty, but failing academics, one is a diligent, on time student, the other a slacker who cuts classes a lot. They also happen to be the reincarnated spirits of the Phoenix and the Dragon. What will happen when these two meet? And what of the prophecy, that when the Dragon and Phoenix begin battle once more, life on earth will cease to exist.

Name: Akio Mai-Jun
Nickname: Aki, Mai, Jun (normally Aki)
Age: 20
Reincarnation: Phoenix
Brief Overview: Aki is from a poor area of town. He lives with his adoptive mother, two younger sisters and a younger brother. Being the eldest of the children, he usually spends his time when at home helping to look after them. Aki isn't particularly gifted with intelligence, but he works extrodinarily hard and makes sure to attend each lesson, allowing him to gain the high grades that are expected of him. Aki doesn't recall who his original family is, or was. He was told he was found at the doorsteps to an orphanage when he was just a baby. He isn't particularly bothered though about his 'real' family as he considers his adoptive family the real deal. Aki has a particular dislike of people who are given everything on a silver platter. What he lacks in natural intelligence, Aki makes up for in his physical ability. He is a member of the university 'track' team and is one of the fastest runners, although he isn't particularly strong. He is also a skilled hurdler and long jumper, some say he even seems to glide in the air.

Name: Nikolai Feralis
Nickname: Nik
Age: 21
Reincarnation: Dragon
Overview: Since the day he was born, Nik had been spoiled rotten by his parents. He was given anything he wanted, when he wanted it. As he grew older, he grew more bold in what he demanded. Girls flocked to him, considering he had the looks and the money. If he actually tried, he'd be one of the top students in his class. Nik was smart, considering he had the top tutors to teach him when he was young, but of course, he loved pissing them off and pretending to not understand. Now, he does only enough to pass his classes. Skipping them if he didn't feel like going to a class, or just bribing the teacher to get a better grade. He cares for no one but himself. Refuses to do any manual labor, making others do it for him.

I'm not fussed who starts first ^^ Perhaps they'd be meeting just before class or something and an argument sparks off?

Haha, that could work. The before class thing. Maybe it could be a sort of, science type class? There's supposed to be a big thing worth half their grade? Thus why nik is showing up. I can post something up tonight, if you want me to start. :3 )

XDD That sounds like a perfect idea! And a great reason to get them in the same room together... Possibly end up working on a project together? Gives them a reason to end up meeting again ^^ And if you don't mind, could you start first?

haha, yep yep. <3 unlucky for them. Maybe a sort of luck of the draw, some form of drama going into how it was picked and then them fighting about it.XD Only to make the teacher force them to work together to work out the differences. and sure!! I'm working on it. )

Staring at his phone at the latest mail he'd recieved the night before, the dark haired male scowled. Scanning it again to make sure he wasn't misinterpretting it. No such luck.
"Dear Mr. Feralis,

It has come to my attention that you have not been in class for the majority of the semester. If you do not change your attendance, I will be forced to fail you in the course. You will have a couple of chances to make up your grade this week..."
blah blah blah.

The letter was just some long winded way of telling him to get his ass to class and do the work, or else he couldn't pass. Not wanting to retake something just because of some idiot teacher, Nikolai Feralis, had been forced to haul himself out of bed and get dressed for class earlier than usual. Of course he always knew when the professors would get fed up with his antics, just not so soon. Most of them rather let his absences and late work slide with a couple of checks under the table. Not this one.

Sure, the boy went to class and took the tests, but apparently, attendance mattered to the old coot. Having dressed up in a pair of gray denim jeans, a black button up shirt, belt and some sun glasses, he was now headed toward his car. It had been one of his gifts for his twenty first birthday, and he just loved driving it. Of course he had to be careful not to leave it anywhere. Someone could always try and just steal it. Which was why he always parked somewhere where there was good security. Just meant he had to walk a little to his class.

In no time at all, considering it was still a little early and the rush to school hadn't started yet, Nik arrived at the campus. He had no need to live in a dorm, so had opted out and instead chose to live at home. Parking his car, he set the alarm and walked toward the science building.

His footsteps fell hard and fast along the cracked concrete pavement as the young man hurried to reach the main buildings of the university before he was out of time and arrived too late. The particular teachers he had today all seemed to have the same habit of locking the classroom or lecture hall doors once they began to teach, thus barring any student who dared to arrive late. But of course, whilst all students seemed to have a reason behind their tardiness, Akio's reasoning was the actual truth, rather than some ill-planned, weak lie. One of his 'siblings' from the family he had been living with ever since he could remember had fallen ill a couple of days ago. With his adoptive mother already stretched thin with work and looking after the other children, Akio had been going back and forth from university and home to help care for his ill sibling. He had been trying to get the kid to take the nasty smelling medicine when he realised he was going to be late, thus the reason for his running.

Hoisting the shabby bag higher on his shoulder, he finally skidded to a stop as he reached the street where the science block was situated and paused, panting quietly before giving a quick glance to the old watch strapped on his wrist. Five minutes to go. This was good, it meant he could walk the rest of the way at a relatively normal pace, allowing himself to catch his breath so he wouldn't enter the class looking hot and bothered. As if he needed anything else to stand out all that much. Akio was already fairly well known for being the 'charity case' of the university, well, one of them anyway. Most people knew he'd been given a scholarship come attend, that he came from an adopted family because his own parents had abandoned him, that he was far from rich and wealthy. Thankfully most people didn't let that get in the way of socialising with him.

Then again, there were the rich snobs who would look down their noses at him. Just the thought of the few who did this sent a slight tremmor down Akio's spine as he began to stride at a slower pace towards the doors of the building. How dare they look down on him, when they themselves were shallow and spoilt, who did nothing and got everything. Well, at least he could comfort himself in the knowledge that, come graduation, their lives would start spiralling downhill as they moved on from dependence upon their family.

Tugging out his old, slightly beaten up phone, he flicked to his e-mails, ignoring the cracked screen as he read the message he and most others in their class had been sent. It explained to them the importance of the project they would be starting and working on in the coming lessons, how it would ammount to a large percentage of their overall grade, how they would have to work in pairs etc etc etc. Akio wasn't particularly bothered about this, well, about most of it. He wasn't overly keen on working in a pair, especially if it meant working with one of the 'snobs'. Sighing, he glanced up, pausing and frowning slightly as someone else seemed to be approaching him as they headed towards the science building. The guy was vaguely familiar, though Akio only knew this from the fact he was in his class. He ducked his head to ignore the other, hoping he in turn would be ignored, even as he felt the first sparks of some form of anger inside his chest.

Walking the whole way, he wasn't worried about the time. He knew he had enough to get to the class. Glancing around at students rushing to their classrooms, he glanced down at his watch. Still a couple of minutes left. Seeing the room in sight, Nik debated on whether or not he Really wanted to show up. The answer was obvious. If he failed the class, he would have to retake it. A class failed would mean he would get a cut allowance. Among other unpleasant things since his toys would get taken away.

Spotting a male going to the same class, he gave him a quick look over, almost frowning at his attire. He vaguely recognized him from the few times he had actually showed up to class. It was one of the scholarship students. The name wasn't in his memory, thus, not important. But for some reason, the sight of him just made him pissed. The guy was probably a teachers pet. One of the straight A people trying to get in good graces. The kid was also probably enjoying the basic free ride to go to this college. Not that Nik was one to talk. His family paid for everything from the school fees to the food.

Narrowing his eyes at being ignored, he rolled his eyes and went to the door, bumping the mans shoulder to get inside the classroom. If the guy wanted to be ignored, he would just pretend he wasn't even there. No need to bother with even excusing himself. Spotting a few free spots, he picked the third furthest from the front. The last rows were sadly taken up, so he was left to being almost in the middle. Setting his bag down, he sat down and waited for the class to start. His plan was to just get the information for the project, hopefully pay off his partner into doing all the work, and do as little as he could.

Akio continued to walk, stubbornly staring at the ground. He had hoped that in doing this, the other would just go past, wouldn't make a stupid comment, or some other irritating action. Unfortunately, Akio wasn't always the most lucky of people, you only needed to look at his current life situation to be able to know that. The moment he the other bumping into his shoulder, he flinched. It was as if he had been burned, heat flared on his skin at the place on his shoulder and arm he had been knocked by the guy, although judging by the fact he had continued to walk as if nothing had happened, the other had clearly not felt the same sensation.

Slowly his anger began to boil over. How DARE he do that? What made him so much better that he felt the need to simply barge right past, acting as if Akio didn't even exist? Sure, Akio had wanted to be ignored, but in a way that he was just left alone, not treated as though he wasn't even there.
"Watch where you're going snob!" Akio yelled angrily in his direction before storming into the class room after him. Great, now that he was in a bad mood, he could just tell today was going to be bad in general. Groaning under his breath, he headed for the nearest available seat, growing steadily more irritated that it wasn't far from the idiot who'd shoved past him, but by the time he realised this he was already seated and really couldn't be bothered to move.

Somewhere in his silent fuming and ranting, the teacher had also finally arrived and cleared their throat to gain silence in the class. Instinctively Akio glanced up, watching the man attentively as he began to go on about the class project. Finally, after roughly ten minutes of detailed explanation on how important the project was and how it was to be done over several days, the man began to read out the list of pairs. It didn't take long for him to reach Akio's name, Akio being nearly right at the top of the list. So when the partnering name was spoken, Akio glanced around, not recognising the name so not yet sure who his partner was to be.

Nikolai scowled over to the brunette at the outburst, but otherwise ignored him the rest of the way.Setting down his bag on the counter, he leaned back against his chair. For some reason, the boy was pissing him off the longer he was around him. Maybe it was a sign that he shouldn't even bother with the class. Or a reason as to why Not to show up. Noting that the boy he bumped into was sitting not too far from him, he frowned.

The day was going from bad to worse. This was why he didn't like classes. Too many bad things could happen. Today was one of the unlucky days. His attention snapping to the professor, but once he started on the project, the males attention drifted. Just get it over with.. Don't have time for this. he even had the nerve to yawn in the middle of the long winded introduction. It wasn't until the pairings were announced that his mind went back to the present. He heard his name being called along with a Akio, Mai-Jun?

The name was odd. Was it a girl? He looked around to see who of the girls in the class were looking for their partner. Only to see that his neighbor was doing the same. "You're Akio?" His tone was one of annoyance. Why out of all the people, did he have to piss off his partner for a major project. Judging from the boys clothes though, he could always bribe him with money to do the assignment.

He had yet to figure out who was his partner-to-be, swivelling around in his seat in search of this mysterious Nikolai Feralis. The name sounded both feminine and masculine, he couldn't be sure if 'Nikolai' was a man or woman, and everyone else was constantly looking around too, everyone trying to figure out who the teacher had paired them with. It seemed that they'd each been paired with someone they barely knew.

Just as he was about to give up on finding his partner, he stiffened as he heard a male voice.
"You're Akio?"
Twisting round again in his seat, his eyes settling on the guy from earlier, the one who angered him so much for little to no reason, the guy who'd bumped into him without reason. Eyes narrowing coldly, he slowly nodded, otherwise remaining perfectly still. "You're the rich snob who shoved me earlier" He stated calmly before letting out a quiet groan and turning away from Nikolai, covering his face. "Great, now I'm stuck with an idiot who knows next to nothing about what we're meant to be doing, the most I can expect is a C thanks to you" He directed the last part with all the venom he could muster in his voice.

"And you're the one who didn't move out of the way fast enough." he retorted sarcastically. He could already see how this was going to turn out. Almost wishing to smack his forehead to the table, he resisted and instead closed his eyes. Listening to Akio's words, Nikolai almost smirked. So the charity case thought he was an idiot. Not surprising. Considering he usually missed classes and only came in for tests or quizzes. Or turn in homework. "That the grade you want? Because... You'll be doing the work. Honestly though, I've never had anything like a C, so... better be better than a C." It almost sounded as if he had failing grades. He actually meant that he normally had high marks in his work. His parents would not accept anything less than an A.

"I'll pay you of course..." he had lowered his voice on the last part. Finally glancing at him, he narrowed his eyes. "You seem like you need it... How much do you want? Or rather.. Need?" Taking out a notebook along with a pen, he started to write down his address. To make sure they would be able to meet up some time when they were both free.

He raised an eye brow at the other before growling quietly. "Well forgive me for not expecting to be shoved on my way to lessons when I've done absolutely nothing to you!" He snapped back in a hushed, fierce tone before sighing, rubbing the side of his heace and grimacing a little. Of course he thought the other was a complete idiot, what evidence had he been given to think otherwise? The guy rarely showed up to lessons, always acted like he had more air than brain between his ears and generally just looked stupid, in Akio's view. At the guy's words though, he frowned a little, tilting his head to the side and glowering coldly back at his 'partner.

"Excuse me? You think you can buy your grade from me?"
He whispered quietly before leaning a little closer, a cold sneer flickering over his lips. "Bite me" Akio finally said as he whispered in Nikolai's ear as his answer to the question of how much money it would take to pay him off. Leaning back again, he smirked before settling back in his seat, flicking open a notebook to write down what he already knew about the project, wanting to completely ignore the other for now.

While he was trying to be a little civilized, something about Akio made him want to push his buttons. A simple smirk graced his features before responding with a smug, "You're forgiven." His thoughts on how difficult this project was going to be was being solidified by the second. The smaller male was proving to be difficult. He didn't want the money? That was a first. He looked to be one of those in need of it. As he was about to give him the paper with directions to his home, Nikolai paused.

"Bite me"

Little did the boy know how close he would have come to fullfilling that statement. Narrowing his eyes, he resisted, but not without a warning. "Should watch what you say, least you get something you weren't expecting." Rolling his eyes, he gave him the paper. "If you are so insistent on working together, here is my address. I am free on the weekends and fridays. The other days, I'm usually busy, so ask or something." With that, he started to write down what he recalled about the project. Frankly, he was coming up short on the marker. Maybe I shouldn't have drifted off. Now he didn't know what to do about the project. Surely his partner would remind him.
