Ana hesitated for a moment, trying to think of something to start the conversation with.

"So, what are you in for?" she finally asked. He looked at least her age, if not a little older, so obviously he was a grad student as well. There wasn't all that much that such a small school offered, but what it did offer was diverse, nonetheless.

Julian sat for awhile, sort of akwardly. He then smiled slightly. "I'm an artist of sorts. I'm studying eviormental science."

"Ah, one of the science types, then," Ana said. "I'm in for a Library Science-Literature bit."

Julian raised his eyebrow at that comment. "What do you mean, 'one of those science types'...what's wrong with science?" Then he grinned slightly. "Really now. That sounds very interesting."

"I got turned off to science, back in high school," Ana shrugged. "Chemistry happened. I decided it wasn't worth busting my brain over and went back to English class." That, and everything from the chemistry class had been messing with her potion brewing, which was never a good thing.

Julian blinked, then nodded slightly. "Most people don't like Chemistry. Think its too hard or something. I don't know. I never had that problem." He really never did. He used chemistry to create poison to knock out, drain powers and even kill witches. He'd only done that once though and didn't want to do it again if he didn't have to.

Ana shrugged.

"I'm not bad with science, and I'm not terrible at math, if it's simple enough," she said. "What I'm really good at, academically, is words." Of course, she had to have at least a passable knowledge of science and math, since she brewed potions, but she was much better at divination and spellwork.

Julian smiled a little and nodded. "Everyone has something they're best at."

Ana stretched her arms a bit and adjusted her sweater absently. The autumn breeze played with her hair again, and she actually had to remind herself not to wave the breeze away. That was bad. She was getting too comfortable in Julian's presence, even with her intuition still whispering to her that something wasn't right about him.

Julian suddenly flopped back onto the grass and just starred up at the sky with a soft sigh. "Look at them." His voice was sort of mezmerized and envious at the same time.

"Look at what?" Ana asked, looking up at the sky. All she saw were some clouds... maybe a couple of birds here and there.

Julian rolled his eyes slightly. "The clouds. I'm jealous of them. All they do is float along up there, making a storm every now and then."

Ana shrugged. Clouds were wet and cold up close, and stormclouds were never fun to get close to. Still... from the ground, she could see the appeal.

"They are pretty," she agreed after a moment.

Julian blinked slightly and propped himself up on his elbows and looked at her. "That's not what I was saying..." He shook his head slightly.

"You said look at the clouds," Ana pointed out, grinning a bit. "I did, and I said they were pretty. I like a good storm, too, but clouds are always prettiest from the ground, or from above."

Julian saw how she saw them now. He nodded slightly and laid back on the ground. "Well...I guess. I've only been in a plane once...so yeah. I like it when you are between layers of clouds. Its all you can see...and sunlight."

Ana nodded absently.

"Yeah..." she said, "they're pretty like that." Granted, she couldn't stay above the clouds for long, since the air was so thin, but that's what made the visits all the better, since she couldn't see it all the time.

Julian looked at her for a moment. This was a strange girl sitting next to him. He'd never met anyone like her before, then he shook his head. Those kinds of thoughts were dangerous...he couldn't afford to have them.

Ana noticed how he was giving her an odd look.

"What?" she asked. "Did I say something strange?" She'd made it a point not to say anything that would even hint that she was different...

Julian just shook his head slightly. "I don't know...you just strike me as different. The way you said some of the things you did."

"Different?" Ana asked carefully. "Different how? What did I say strangely?"

Julian sat up and shook his head. "Its nothing bad. I'm just saying that most people wouldn't say things like you do. It's not bad, I kinda like it." He smiled a little at her.

"Well, I'm not like most people," Ana pointed out. Which was true... just moreso than everyone else knew.

Julian smiled and nodded a little. "Which is what I like. People who are alike bore me....act like robots."

"Are you... flirting with me?" Ana asked, raising an eyebrow. It sure seemed like it...
