Welcome to the land of Eldrigor! Unlike years past, we've currently seen a rise in criminal activity, monster population, etc. It really isn't good. No one's really sure what's going on, but what's clear is that we need strapping young adventurers like yourself to help us eliminate this menace. As you should know, you're in the city of Pylai, the capitol. Ignore the crowds please. It's always busy this time of year. If you're looking to sign up for a Guild, you can find their Houses on the map. We truly and earnestly hope that you will assist us in this time of crisis!
Sincerely,
Piplin, manager of Public Affairs.

I was planning on doing this on a "class" system, sort of like Final Fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons, etc. There are four basic classes:
  • Warrior
  • Rogue
  • Ranger
  • Mage
Each of these classes have four paths.

Warrior:
  • Page->Knight->Paladin
  • Brute->Barbarian->Beserker
  • Spearman->Halberdier->Dragoon
  • Soldier->Knave->Samurai
Rogue:
  • Pickpocket->Assassin->Night Lord
  • Highwayman->Bandit->Gang Lord
  • Dancer->Con Artist->Seducer
  • Acolyte->Monk->Black Belt
Ranger:
  • Bowman->Wind Archer->Zenyte
  • Marksman->Sharpshooter->Sniper
  • Hunter->Stalker->Slayer
  • Shooter->Rifleman->Cannoneer
Mage:
  • Musician->Poet->Bard
  • Apprentice->Sorceror(Elementalist or Shadowist)->High Wizard
  • Summoner->Arcanist->Druid
  • Cleric->Priest->Arch Bishop

And a Weapons/ Armor Listing:
  • Page- One-handed Swords and Shields; Heavy Armor and Plate Armor
  • Brute- Axes and Hammers; Heavy Armor
  • Spearman- Spears and Polearms; Heavy Armor
  • Soldier- Two-handed Swords; Heavy Armor and Plate Armor
  • Pickpocket- Throwing Stars/Knives; Light Armor
  • Highwayman- Daggers; Light Armor
  • Dancer- Fans and Nunchuks; Cloth or Light Armor
  • Acolyte- Knuckles and Barehands; Light or Cloth Armor
  • Bowman- Bows and Arrows; Light Armor
  • Marksman- Crossbows and Bolts; Light Armor
  • Hunter- Bows or Crossbows, tamed animals; Light Armor
  • Shooter- Guns; Light Armor
  • Musician- Instruments; Cloth Armor
  • Apprentice- Wands; Cloth Armor
  • Summoner- Books; Cloth Armor
  • Cleric- Staves; Cloth Armor

There are also six attributes:
  • Constitution: Health and Resistance
  • Strength: Physical Damage
  • Intelligence: Magical Damage
  • Dexterity: Damage for projectiles and daggers
  • Luck: Chance of dodging, getting a critical hit, etc.
  • Willpower: Mana and Spell Resistance
Every level, your character gets ten points to spend however they please. Speaking of level: the first level requires 250 exp to get. The second, 500. The third, 1000, and so on. Exp is gained from fighting monsters, and completing quests. You also get more for being part of a team.

As for the teams, I was planning on having four teams of four characters, each with a unique path. That means that we'll have one Paladin, Beserker, Dragoon, etc. I don't want to have twenty characters that are all the same type. I will take reservations, but you have a week to get the profile in before I turn it over. So hurry! :3

For combat and such, I was figuring to use a Dice roll system. I think every ten points in a stat should give you a lower-sided die, over the enemy that is. For example, if you're fighting a lizard with twelve Constitution, then you have to have at least 22 to lower the number of sides on the die. I'm thinking that a 20-sided die would work for now. We might have to change it later though. ;)

((We're going to start at the team barracks. Essentially day two. Everyone's already been sorted and everything, okay? :3 By the way, as of right now, I would only post if people in your team have turned things in yet. They won't be able to post a response until they do.))

Sweat beading her eyes, Tali took a few moments to wipe her forehead with a piece of cloth before she picked up her sword and shield and continued sparring. Her opponent also carried a sword and shield, though he wasn't quite as used to their weight and such as she was. It was quite easy for her actually, though that really stemmed from all of her training before arriving at the city. She wasn't willing to be turned down by anyone.

A rap on her shield drew her attention back to the fight, and she scowled. She had gotten distracted. Such a stupid mistake! Her wooden training sword whistled through the air as she swung, aiming for the other boy's helmet. While not a killing blow, it would disorient him and allow her to tap his shoulder, thus ending the session. Unfortunately, the boy managed to block the blow with his bracer, turning to smack her weapon away before thrusting.

She managed to avoid the thrust by sucking in her gut and twisting to the side slightly, but that left her open for the shield bash coming to her shoulder. She saw stars momentarily, the impact jarring her head, but she recovered quickly and brought her sword down on his, trapping it to the ground. Then she pushed with her shield, and forced him to let go, the weapon clattering to the ground under hers. Immediately, she was advancing on him, raining blow after blow on his wooden shield.

But then he made the fatal mistake of anticipating her pattern. Before he could react, her shield shot forward, clipped his chin, and flew up, sending his left arm out and to the left as her left came in with the sword, tapping him on the throat. He grumbled as she stepped back and gave a quick bow, stooping down to retrieve his weapon.

As it was, her arms were starting to ache with the repeated shock of wood against wood, and she found herself wishing for a glass of water as she slid down against a tree in the courtyard. Her eyes casually drifted over to the archery range across the stream, hoping to see Kyle, her teammate, over there.

Kyle was indeed a the range, shooting at a target about thirty meters away.HE was getting bored with hitting so many bull-eyes but the instructor wouldn't set it any further, not to mention the target wasn't holding up very well. His rifle was having a lot of fun. His Master back in Alsmer told him that he was a good shot, but he always got anxious under pressure. He only had this good of luck when he was practicing. Whenever he was in a pinch he tended to make bad shots, especially with his rifle. He loved the rifle but he carried a handgun on him for those instances. He looked over at the sparing field and saw that Tali was just finishing up. "I'll finish up here first," Kyle said, shooting the final round into the dummy, causing it to scatter in the wind.

As he walked down the hill towards Tali, he accosted her, "Hey! Tali! How's practicing going?"

Bisma took aim with her bow, Ready... Aim... Fi- Her thought process was cut off by the sound of bullets, causing her to tense and automatically release her arrow, causing it to land in the most outter ring of the target. It's not like she had been unaware of other people practicing and it was not like she had fallen deaf to every previous bullet, it was just that when she shot she only be came aware of her bow and the mark. This happened often, causing her to wish she was deaf sometimes, being spooked easily by noises when unaware and it causing her muscles to lock until her mind recognized the sound. The only reason she had gotten that close to the target was because her mind unconciously recognized the sound of practiced warfare, her body tensing as a chain reaction unstoppable until completed. Most of the time, she missed the mark completely.

She cursed under her breath. This is why she chose to practice when she knew there would be others, hoping she would become more immune to the sounds as she continued to practice. She'd made little progress, but it was better than before, where her arrows would once in a while get as far as the area used for hand to hand combat.

She sighed, walking over to the arrows that had hit the mark, mostly within the bullseye from the attemps she had managed to make during snags of quiet. She pulled those out before walking all over her area of practice, picking up the arrows from her unsuccessful attempts. She put the arrows in their place and took her bow over her head, wearing it in the same fashion as the pouch that held her bows, before head off to join Kyle and Tali. She was slightly sick of practing.

Still breathing deeply, Tali closed her eyes and enjoyed the breeze. The Master who had been observing them nodded briefly and left, the boy following sulkily. He probably wasn't happy that he had been beaten by a girl, but she didn't care. Glancing up at the sound of a voice that was calling her name, Tali spotted Kyle coming down the small hill that the range sat on. She raised her arm in acknowledgement, standing and grabbing the wooden cup from the barrel before heading back to the stream and filling it up.

Personally, she didn't get how they could do it. Ranged combat had never been for her though. The feel of her sword and shield, the clash of steel on steel, the smell of adrenaline, and the feeling of connection between her opponent and herself were too good to even contemplate giving up

"Pretty good," she replied, brushing golden blond hair out of her topaz eyes. "How about you? Are the masters working you hard too?" Over his shoulder, she managed to spot another figure, this time female, coming down the hill. It took her a few moments, but she managed to figure out that she was Bisma. Tali had never been really good with names either. Cheerfully, she waved, signalling for her to come over.

Bisma smiled at Tali's welcoming, happy to know that she had not been interrupting anything. She chuckled softly at the imaginary eyebrow wiggling the word 'interrupting' had sprouted in her mind. She wasn't one for speading gossip, it's just that she liked to listen to it, any story really, even when she knew it impossible.

She settled comfortably near the base of the hill, somewhat away from the muddy banks of the river, for what she called resting (while others called it being lazy). She was usually quiet, seeming unaware until she put her two cence in every now and again.

"So, how's life treating you?" She stated in an effort to start some light conversation while she slowly pulled off her leather gloves, the only armor she chose to wear during training. Sometimes people compared her to a pandabear, elephant, or other animal of the like, with her slow movements and sparse responses. She never really understood the metaphor, then again, she never really tried to.

Kyle shook his head. "Not really, they won't let me shoot further down range."
he sat down at the base of the hill, not to far from Bisma. He took of his hat and set it beside him. "Not to shabby, if the instructors didn't underestimate us. They think we'll all morons because four or five guys can't notch an arrow, load a bullet, or swing a sword! It is completely redundant for people like us, who have a basic concept of what the hell we're doing, to be shooting at a target that's practically at point black range."

Kyle took a cup of water from the stream. "And as for you, Tali, what's with the trainers putting you up against a guy who's worse with a sword then ME!" Kyle was't actually that bad with sword, but he much preferred his rifle. "I think they're just holding a lot of us back."

Alura Scorpro sat in her barracks looking over her instruments. She had a variety laid out beside her, from flutes to lutes, to harps and drums. She was proud of her trade, and while many may look down on her for having little skills in fighting, Alura was brilliant. There wasn't a puzzle she couldn't decipher, a map she couldn't read, an instrument she couldn't play. Alura grinned to herself, and flipped her hair away from her face.

The young woman plucked a few chords of her harp, the sweet sound resonating through the area. She was curious to find out the personalities of her team mates, and hoped that they wouldn't judge her for what she did.

Bisma couldn't help but smile at Kyles antics, chuckling softly. She knew it was true, he was good, having hit the bull's eye several time in just the few second it took her to pass him, but she also thought everyone had something to work one otherwise they wouldn't be practicing at such low levels. Maybe they could've used better methods but they were still the masters. To answer though, she just shrugged, a soft smile still gracing her lips.

"We can't exactly show up and expect them to place us in advanced classes without knowing what we can do. They probably do think we're just as bad as them." She then leaned back, arms behind her head. After a few seconds she started hearing something echoing. It took her a second to realize that it was music, the soft lilt of a harp. She wondered who could possibly be playing the harp in an arena for practicing warfare, but she quickly dismissed the thought. She decided she rather liked it.

The sound of music drifting over the area was pleasant, beautiful even, to Tali. It really helped her to relax and rest for a while. "He wasn't that bad, Kyle. At least he hadn't stabbed himself in the foot," she said, laughing lightly with amusement, the sound light and airy. "Honestly though, it's been a while for me. Swordsmanship isn't like archery or riflery, which you can practice on the road by yourself. And it's not like sparring partners are a dime a dozen."

Shrugging, she thought over Bisma's observation. It was true. To everyone else in the barracks, they were the rookies, so it only made sense to test the waters before setting sail. In fact, they weren't allowed to even take on a mission until they completed the basic combat test. Certainly they would, but no one but they knew it. "You're right, Bisma. So, let's show 'em what we can do!" she said, the enthusiasm evident by the shining in her golden eyes.

Izzy walked slowly down the hill, her petite frame almost blending in with her surroundings. Something about her just made it easy to look over her, and not at her. The chinking of metal in her pocket would have given her away though, which was one of the reasons she seemed to slouch. She hadn't meant to steal all those earrings and nails and bullet shells. It felt wrong, but she couldn't resist. As it was, she was heading towards her stashing place to bury them, as well as look at the rest of her collection.

Upon nearing the stream, she looked both ways, noticing three of the other rookies talking amongst themselves away off. She took a deep breath before pulling out the shovel from the water, digging down a bit. She stopped when she it the wooden box, pulling it out and opening it. The shining off of all the metal: silver, copper, gold, brass, pewter, the list was endless. But she didn't have time to stare, so she shoved her newest findings into the box and reburied it, dusting her hands of the deed when it was done.

Then she threw the shovel back into the stream and pulled out her daggers. Now was as good a time to practice as any, right?

"...and in the name of the Most Holy God, I pray. Amen," Jai'kar said, rising from the floor of the chapel. The altar sat before him, the everlasting candles sending powerful incense into the air. The gray stone walls were broken by colorful tapestries and stained glass. Hardwood pews, polished to gleaming, sat in regular intervals on the floor. Yet Jai'kar saw none of this as he left the room, his snow-white robes with the golden sunburst making a soft sound as he did so.

It was past time to practice, but he would make up for it. He always did. His master had mentioned that his healing magic could use some refining, and so that's what he chose to work on. It was fairly simple really. He would just find a warrior or two and watch them spar, healing them when they took injuries. No biggie. Then he would work on his blessings. As it was, his offensive magic needed much less tweaking, so it would be left be for the moment.

The sun blinded him as he stepped into the courtyard, the white of his robes shining even brighter than before in the noon sunlight. Without a change in expression, he pulled his staff off of his back, ready to get to work.

"Ok then I guess we just not advance at all. I just want to move a target back thirty paces! that's all. A little bit of a challenge." Of course they could also put me under live fire... but I won't say that out loud. At that Kyle placed his on his head, covering his eyes with the brim. He acted like he was taking a nap, but he was actually looking at the girls. He wasn't really a "lady's man" but he liked to look. Both girls were pretty, but Tali kind of reminded him about his sister, Alice, they both had the same pale blonde hair, and the same attitude. Up beat. Cheery. Cool. Well, anyway Bisma was another story. She was very beautiful, and a good archer, as long as there's not too much noise. He often noticed her tense up if she was in the next shooting booth. Every time he shot, she missed. He noticed this fairly quickly, and moved to let her have a bit more peace while shooting. He knew how much focus was required to get a good shot. Other then that, she was great. A lot better then some of the other kids. MOSt of them didn't know how to hold a rifle, or bow, or a stick for that matter.

Bisma chuckled softly at Tali's enthusiasm, a grin on her face. "And get them we shall!" She said as she flexed her arms, pretending to be as tough as Tali obviously was. She giggled after a moment of this and just began playing with her hair. After Kyle spoke, she guessed that she did see what the fuss was about. She's been shooting targets at farther range for years, as she's sure he's been, and she was plenty sure Tali's been fighting for years as well. She wached as he leaned back, probably trying to take a short nap. He seemed peaceful, she noticed, and she almost wanted to lay back for a nap of her own. She started debating in her mind whether she should really be taking a nap in the training grounds before she noticed she had been staring. She looked back at the stream, a light blush on her cheeks, and if anyone asked, it was from the slight breeze passing through.

Drakk sat on a bench eating from a bag of rolls in the shade. He knew he should be training but he was too hungry to at the moment. After eating a few rolls he decided to get up and walk around. The day was nice and warm but it was starting to get stuffy in his heavy armor. He decided to head to his team's barracks to change into something lighter and to cool off. As he walked he took in the scenery and made note of where certain places were like the training field and shooting range.

When Drakk arrived he quickly grabbed some clothes and went to the back of the barracks. He then noticed that he had entered from the back and smacked his forehead. Once changed he walked back to the front of the barracks and noticed a girl sitting on her bed with some instruments. She seemed preoccupied so Drakk decided to just lay down on his bed and look up at the ceiling.

Skouten sat on the ground between some bushes and a large white building that looked to be a church. It was the only shaded place he could find where he could hide his snakes. He opened a basket of food and divvied up the food. He then laid out portions for all the snakes and took a portion for himself. Today's meal was bread and chicken. Skouten watched as his snakes ate the food and then started to eat himself.

Once finished with his meal, Skouten took his bow off his back and plucked it. He then checked the ends to make sure it was sharp. He loved surprising his enemies with the fact that his bow was a melee weapon in addition to a ranged weapon. He also checked his arrows to make sure the poison was still fresh enough and that they were sturdy enough to use as daggers. When he heard a noise from around the corner he hid all but three of his snakes. Two of them he hid in his sleeves and the other he wrapped around his neck. He then proceeded to tip-toe to the edge of the wall and peer around the corner.

Azaiah inhaled deeply, trying to calm and center herself. Calm as the mountain, strong as the oak, swift as the wind, as changing as water... She repeated this mantra to herself as she practiced with her nunchakus, her movements precise and fast. The weapon was a blur, almost too fast to see.

She shifted awkwardly on her feet, loosing her balance for half a second. It was enough; with a painful smack, the end of her nunchaku hitting her ribs. She exhaled explosively, dropping to one knee as the already-bruised spot radiated with pain. "Of course," she growled through gritted teeth, angrier at herself more then anything. The fans she had mastered easily enough, but it was the nunchakus that she had difficulty with. Her father's voice rang in her ears- you'll learn; you are still young.

"I'm sixteen," she said soundly, a frown on her face. "I am not a child."

Rubbing at the sore spot on her ribs, she went to find the others, spotting Kyle, Tali and Bisma over near the sparring area. She headed over, repeating her mantra to herself to try and calm the irritation that stemmed from her failure. "Hello," she said, greeting the trio in her soft, silky voice. "Mind if I join you?"

Alura looked up when she heard someone approach. She bit he lower lip as she watched the short-haired man curiously. Alura gently pulled a few more notes from her harp. "Hello, Drakk, correct?" her voice was soft and musical, to match her instruments.

She packed her instruments away and plaited her red hair into a loose braid. "I seem to be keeping you from something." she noted, almost absently.

"Yes!" Tali agreed, jumping to her feet and hunting for an opponent amidst the people around the courtyard. So few of them carried swords. Sighing, she figured she'd stick around with her friends for a while, at least until a swordsman came by. Just as she was about to sit back down, she heard Azaiah, causing her to straighten, as she failed to recognize the voice.

"Sure... As... Az... Azaiah!" she answered quickly, still smiling brightly, though it was dimmed by the rosy blush on her cheeks. "Sorry. I'm not really good with names. Hopefully it will stick with us being teammates and everything." Frowning at her empty cup, she went over to the stream and got some more, downing it quickly before filling it up a third time and heading back.

Noticing a decent-sized group of rookies, much like himself, Jai'kar walked over, nodding to everyone he passed. As he approached, he felt something wrong with Azaiah's health. Very minor, but still good for him to practice on. A bit of delving, and he found that it was a bruise, about three centimeters thick. "Pardon me, ma'am, but may I heal your injury? I need the practice, see?"

Azaiah smiled, shrugging her shoulders easily to Tali as if to say don't worry about it. "I look forward to our time together," she said, her words easy and gracious. She sat down just as Jai'kar approached, whincing slightly at the twinge of pain from her bruise.

"How did you....?" she asked, then shrugged her shoulder slightly. "That would be nice," she said, then stood and lifted her shirt enough to show the bruised area. It was already a dark, ugly purple; old, yellowed bruises spotted the area around the bruise.

"I am a Cleric. Sensing this sort of thing comes naturally to me," Jai'kar replied, placing his hand on Azaiah's bruise with the gentlest of touches. Then he took a deep breath and gathered holy energy in his hand, directing it to heal the injury. Within seconds, the wound was completely gone.

"I hope you do not mind if I join you. I need to practice my healing, and the best way to do that is to heal injuries from training," he said, sitting down on a small wooden chair.

((Sorry, I was waiting for others to post. :sweat:))

Bisma welcomed each member accordingly. The group was getting rather large for her taste, usually a bit of an introvert, but she didn't mind much. She did, however, watch as Jai'kar healed Azaiah's bruise. She was slightly amazed. She always thought healing was cool, just not for her. She's not really one to not get into the action. "You can stay but I won't be much of a help to you," she said with a kind smile, "You know, unless I shoot an arrow through my foot." That was another reason she liked distance weapons. She hated pain, but loved action. Sure there'd be pain now and then but she could take it if she had to.

Kyle continued to "sleep" as the others came into the group. He noticed Azaiah especially. She was definitely one of the cutest girls here. She was definitely a dancer. There was no doubt about it.

Viktor Salven sat quietly waiting to be called up to spar. He was always silent. He never yelled or talked very much. When he was called up he took a defensive stance and readied himself for an attack. The young girl he was sparring with gave him a good rapt on the top of the head before she started rapidly breathing and going into a asthma attack. He was told to sit down. Apparently she was afraid she'd really hurt him, with a love tap on the head with a wooden stick. Viktor decided to center himself by going to the river to meditate. He saw a few other people there, but did not worry about it. He sat on the opposite end of the river and became in dream-like trance.
