“Order a clean-up crew to come and take care of her mess,” snapped the head vampire to his subordinate.

The new-born looked at her ‘mess’ with disdain and an over whelming sense of guilt. One of the lesser important vampires put his hand on her shoulder and simply said, “It’s better not to look for it will haunt you forever. We take without giving and there is nothing we can do about that. “With that said he turned and walked away. The new-born couldn’t take his advice though and she kept staring, as of her ‘mess’ was the only thing she could look at. She knew the other vampire was telling her the truth when he said that this sight would haunt her for forever. But even that being said the blood that pooled on the floor, the blood that she had split; it was drawing her in as if it were taking in her essence and feeding her only guilt in return.

The head vampire came up to her and said, “Be proud you’ve made your first kill young one, and it wasn’t as messy as most are. Congratulations you are a killer now, one of us. You are our family now and we take care of our family. Come now let’s get you cleaned up.” The head vampire started to walk away expecting the new-born to follow, but she didn’t she couldn’t take her eyes away from her ‘mess’.

She had managed to pull her eyes away from the blood, but they had found a new focal point in the eyes of her victim. They were wide open and glazed over with death, but they still had a shine to them as if the soul of that body was trapped inside with no way out. The new-born could feel those eyes on her, and she was sure that if she had a soul those eyes would be ripping through it at that moment.

As she continued to stare at those eyes she thought to herself, ‘What have I done? What kind of monster have I become?’
