Concerning Spoilers

Remember, no one likes to have the plot ruined for them. So if you're going to discuss the integral parts of a movie or TV Show, make sure that anyone who reads your post is properly warned.

You have three options.

1. At the top of your post add the word **SPOILER** clear enough so that it is known that anything that comes after may reveal certain plotpoints.

2. For any text that actually reveals plot, add **HIGHLIGHT FOR SPOILER** and post the rest in white. This way those who aren't familiar with the movie or TV show being discussed won't accidentally read what you have written and those who are familiar can highlight your text.

**HIGHLIGHT FOR SPOILER** I like the part where she uses the kittens to take over the White House.
3. The third and best option is too employ the 'Spoiler Bar'. This allows your text to be hidden and then revealed when clicked.

SPOILERX

I liked the part where the kittens fought off the ninjas!
The code to create the 'Spoiler Bar' is as followed:

[hide]Hidden Text Here[/hide]

In the advanced post options, the 'Spoiler Bar' button looks like this:

If you would like a custom title for your 'Spoiler Bar', the code is as followed:

[hidetitle=Custom Title Here]Hidden Text Here[/hidetitle]

The result looks like this:

Playlists and the use of Quote Tags

If you've read Menewsha's posting rules, you probably already know that you can't copy and paste text that you did not write, such as song lyrics or clips of movie dialogue, without using quote tags. What you may not realize (or, remember - let's be honest here ) is that any time your post is going to need a significant amount of text from elsewhere, you must use Quote tags. This includes things like playlists, where you have lists of names and titles and links.

The simplest way to achieve this is to highlight the text and click the little text bubble icon () in the post editing window, but you can also type the tags manually:
[quote] your text here [/quote]
Alternatively, simply surrounding your text in square brackets will achieve the same purpose:
[ your text here ]
Citation of sources is always appreciated, but it does not exempt you from the above. The reason we require quote tags/brackets around material from elsewhere is that doing so stops gold earning on the quoted text. It's meant to deter spam in the interest of preserving the integrity of Menewsha's gold economy, so that we don't have folks posting page after page of copy/paste in order to gain large amounts of gold very quickly.
