CCTV Stands for closed Circuit Television.
Now in the old days this consisted of several cameras, with cables running to what is known as a monitoring station. A room full of monitors. These display the camera images on screen. There was absolutely no other way to see the cameras and so the circuit was closed. And open circuit would be cameras anyone can access... like the one on my parents house. Just type in the IP address and there's the cameras!

Now technology (in England) has evolved so what I'm doing is still classed as CCTV, but it's also open Circuit because if you have the software and the passwords you can access it anywhere.

I sit in a large control room. There are 32 sites, all of which hold up to 16 cameras. Now what happens is the cameras are triggered, they fire into the phone line and send their signals down the internet to the pre-programed IP address. Our computers. We watch the images, see whats happenning and take appropriate action.

Calling the police, fire brigade and so on.

That's ok. It's going to take me a while till I can afford the V-day hairpin. Which is what this gold is for. So I don't really need it back till I have 10k+ :P
