The Golden Egg?

What is this magical egg of which you speak? What part of the world does this tradition come from?

Some community egg hunts in my home town would include a special egg (often gold) that had a special prize inside. I'm pretty sure I got the golden egg once, but it wasn't for a big prize. The bigger egg hunts sometimes had tickets that could be exchanged for stuff. I think the grand prize one year was a new bicycle.

The worst thing I've found in an egg was a slug. =/

This sounds very amazing, and yet like -nothing- which would ever happen in my area.

Actually, I take it back. The 'good' prizes, possibly. The things like a slug? No. Unless the slug crawled in on it's own, because it look like a safe place to sleep.

Well the slug was probably a kid or teenager who thought it would be funny to take the candy and leave a slug behind. I found it the day after Easter and it definitely didn't get in there and close the egg on its own.

Seemed alive to me. XD But I didn't really check. I dropped the egg since I was surprised and ran away. I was pretty little at the time.

This egg hunt game sounds fun, too bad I've never participated in an egg hunt.

The one easter egg I remember best is the one the squirrels stole from me because they smelled the Reeses in it. *pouts*

:rofl: everyone's stories made me giggle! my mom always used real eggs, so we never had prizes. hunting eggs was just for fun for me and my brothers. i usually won. BIG SISTERS FTW!!!

I only participated in community egg hunts a couple times. My parents didn't like the way they were run so we had our own in our backyard. From what I can remember the prizes weren't that good at the community one but my parents always put stuff that my brother and I liked.

we sold the plastic ones you could put stuff in where i work though

The only easter hunt I ever participated in involved candy and highlighter colored eggs. xD;
