Let's give Paolini the credit he deserves, he ripped off EVERYTHING! I have one friend who loves them despite that, and one friend who reads them with 20 highlighers identifying every bit of plagirism and what it's from. (Amusingly, the latter friend generally steals the former's copies to do this.)

Eragon wasn't a great book...but it wasn't the worst book I've ever read either.

I totally agree with you Kanora. I think these days though its hard for people to come up with any new fresh ideas. What fantasy story has come out recently that doesn't have some of the same premises as LOTR, Star Wars, etc.
I did enjoy the Eragon books, however I in no way think his story is 100% original and new. :yumeh1:

I've read all the books so far and don't think it's a rip-off of LotR. Sure there are similarities but it's hard for there not to be for that kind of genre. I don't think it's amazing but I'm looking forward to reading the last one.

I'm 16-not a child but I still love reading fairytales (I'm not sure about Eragon, maybe it belongs to another genres)and I read it instead of studying for my grade 10 entrance exam !!!!!! Luckily,I passed the entrance exam and finished Eragon ^^

About the film,I hate Arya. The actress acted well but didn't fit with Paolini description.Anyway,I watched it but I choose to read books again, not the film T_T

The books were pretty bad. They read as if written by a five year old.
Yes yes, I know, Paolini was a young author. Still. Pretty bad.
And yes, a COMPLETE ripoff, not just from LOTR, but from Dragonriders of Pern as well.

i love the eragon books. and to all those people who aren't going to read them because the movie stinks i say the same to you. like most times the books are way better than the movies. though the 2nd and 3rd are very confusing with all the diffrent stories.

I loved Eragon, but I think it really went downhill from there. Eldest was all right but I absolutely hated Brisingr. It feels like the plots really being dragged out...
