  • Jat knelt down beside Jerry with a small sad smile, he hated that the boy still seemed to get picked on whenever he wasn't around. He hadn't realized it was to such an extent though, Jerry didn't complain about it much and kept quiet. Draping an arm over Jerry's shoulders he said reasonably, "I don't think you would, you're much too sweet."

Jat disliked seeing his friend hurt and disliked that he thought so little of himself and though he didn't say it for fear of making Jerry think he had a crush on him, although he did he didn't want Jerry to know.

But before he could say anything Dr. Roberts returned with a pleased smile on his face. "Well everything is ready, if you are."

Jat smiled up at the man with a slight smile he stood back up and reached his hand down to Jerry. They could continue this conversation later, he though. "We're ready Dr. Roberts."

Jerry took the last few moments of privacy they had to be comforted by his best friend's company, facial features returning to their monotone state, decorated only by the odd little smile that made it seem as if his head were in the clouds most of the time. Although there was a faint shade of pink remaining once Dr. Roberts returned to see them on the floor (he was hoping to himself that the man wouldn't think anything happened), he seemed to be fine when he stood up, taking the offered hand to help pull himself up.

Since he wasn't too sure about himself and how this expirment would end up, as eager he was to look a little better or be a little stronger, he was glad that Jat had answered for the both of them. He'd only agree through a nod of his head, smiling the best he could and hoping that he didn't look as anxious as he felt. Hoping that he wouldn't have to go through this alone, as corny and cowardly as it sounded, he'd allow himself to be led out of the room.

Barely paying attention to his surrondings the way he had when first entering this building, he'd place his complete concentration on walking without fainting or running the other direction like his sanity commanded. Leaving only a part of his mind open to worry and another part to listen to whatever safety advice Dr. Roberts had for him, he'd stare directly ahead... And hope there weren't needles invovled.

  • Jat walked the halls behind Dr. Roberts but was watching Jerry worriedly. He hoped he wasn't rethinking it but not saying anything... he was sure that Dr. Roberts wouldn't have minded if they changed their minds.

Pulling lightly on Jerry's hand he said quietly into Jerry's ear, "Are you alright? If you don't want to do this we don't have to."

Jat's own nerves were buzzing, he continued to wonder what the experiment was but he doubted that Dr. Roberts would be telling them if he had asked. Instead he listened to the procedural rules and learned that they'll be put to sleep during the experiment. At least there wouldn't be any pain, well noticeable anyways.

Jerry almost jumped when he made contact the other human being, having been in his own little private world during the entire time. Feeling a bit foolish as he almost had yelped and most certainly had jumped due to the shock of being shaken back into reality, he'd shake his head in response, more eased when told that he would be asleep during the entire thing. Though he hoped that he wouldn't see any needles before that, he'd most likely faint and save them the trouble if he saw anything too sharp.

Telling himself again and again that these people were professionals and that they would've been sued if they had done anything wrong or against the law or painful. Especially to teeangers such as himself. At peace at the most part when they came to a stop in front of a metal door marked in blinding red warnings, he'd glance toward the female that seemed to be waiting for their arrival.

She looked rather odd and distorted for someone that should be working in a field like herself, but he supposed that all geniuses had their quirks. Some had their huge glasses and messy hair, but this one had a lab coat five sizes too big for her, with sleeves dragging against the floor and tips dragging like a bride's dress across the floor. The buttons were done and a belt was around her waist, making her look as if she were in some strange toga.

"Hello," she'd greet them. Then turning to Dr. Roberts she would add, "We'll be ready in room 207 in a few minutes." She hurried away after that, looking as if she were limping.

  • Jat had stared at the girl startle by her appearance, it was when she spoke did he remember his manners and look away murmuring his own hello to the girl. He had seen people dressing strange in his life time but nothing so strange that the clothes were so large it would be impossible to do anything or walk in. He hoped she wasn't the one in charge of the experiment.. merely a helper for he didn't want to know what would happen if she was doing it.

Blinking back to reality as he realized she walked away Jat realized Dr. Roberts was ushering him into the room they had stopped in front of. Entering first he looked around, benches lined the walls and hooks hung lab coats and bath robes.

"You two may get undressed here and put on one of the bathrobes and come out when you are ready," Dr. Roberts said with a friendly smile before closing the door behind Jerry.

Once Dr. Roberts left the room though, instead of undressing immediately he turned to Jerry with a worried look. He knew Jerry was frightened by the way the boy had jumped on the way there when he had made contact with him. "Do you really want to do this Jerry? You don't have to... I don't want to pressure you into anything you know."

Jerry had scurried to isolate himself in a corner as he often did while changing during gym class to avoid being screamed at in the midst of the chaos of changing, although few bothered to communicate with him anyways. Once his shabby, simple garments lay in a neatly folded pile one on of the benches, his hand would fiddle a few times with the chain of his necklace, more of a sign of hesitation to take it off than nerves. It comforted him when nothing else did, but he wasn't sure if it was safe to take something metal into something like this. So sighing, he'd take it off and wrap it carefully in his shirt, trying to reassure himself that it wouldn't get lost.

After this he seemed to snap out of his little trance for the second time, this time remaining in reality as he scanned the room for a bathrobe that would fit his slender frame. As he walked toward it, sticking to the walls and shadows as 'survival-training' at school trained him to do, he would pause and walk outward toward where Jat was standing, eyes flickering across the room as if expecting something- anything- to leap out at him and tear out his throat, weither it be the large kid at school or in this case, a vampire. Hey! Just because he didn't see one yet didn't quite necessarily mean that there were none whatsoever!

"Honestly, I had no idea what I was saying when I got myself into this," he replies, sounding as cheerful as he could get, standing naked in the middle of an unfamiliar room. "But I'm sure its going to be fine. I mean, if this was dangerous and all, wouldn't they have gotten sued or something and closed down?"

Wandering off before any more of the doubt came back to find him, Jerry grabbed the bathrobe that he deemed would fit him best, carefully pulling it off the hook. Pulling it around himself he realized that although it seemed like a good choice at first, it was a bit large for him, but fitting enough so that he could deal with it. The sleeves stopped midway down his palm and he was so skinny he could tie the belt (or whatever it was called on a robe) around himself two times and still have enough leftover for a knot. The robe's hem occasionally got in the way of his footsteps, so he reminded himself to step carefully.

  • Jat silently watched Jerry in the side of his eye as he undressed and folded his clothes into a neat pile trying not to think much else on anything but how Jerry felt. But as Jerry turned to him he couldn't help but let his eyes roam a bit, more reflex then anything but he pulled on a bathrobe and looked away quickly willing himself not to look again until Jerry had a bathrobe on himself.

Jat snorted in his urge to suppress laughter when he seen just how large the bathrobe was on Jerry but he grinned still. "You look like a drowned rat in that thing..."

His own bathrobe he was wearing fit him just about perfectly stopping just below his knees. The arms were just overing a small portion of his palm but it was fine like that. The only thing that stood out of place was his hair which contrasted with the pure white-ness of the bathrobe which seemed far too white to wear with black hair.

"Well if you're certain about this, shall we head out?" Jat said with a grin and a small foolish bow to Jerry trying to make light of the situation.

Jerry found it rather hard to hear whatever it was Jat was saying as the collar of the robe was uncomfortably large, not only weighing down and smothering his neck, but also managing to cover his ears and half his head. Struggling a little bit to jerk down his robe, he only managed to catch half Jat's sentence, but got the general gist of the intended meaning and responded with a bit of a pout.

"Thanks," he comments, rolling his eyes. "I thought you'd say I looked like an emo trying to learn karate, but I suppose being a drowned rat is better." Then pondering for a moment, he shakes his head a little. "Or is it actually worse?"

Happy that his eyes weren't covered by the robe so that he was able to locate his way out of the room without hitting himself on the head, he'd make his steps slow and planned so that he wouldn't trip and fall flat on his face. Making his way to the door with only one or two stumbles and maybe one bruise due to the fact that he had hit his knee against the bench, he carefully pushed the door open and walked out.

  • Jat followed Jerry out with a shake of his head and found Dr. Robert's waiting for them. Without a word the man lead them to room 207, that the strange woman had mentioned earlier.

In the room there were two tables made of silvery metal and covered in a white film of paper and a sheet was folded at the foot of the tables. Around the tables were machines beeping and flashing, others stood around the tables turned off but Jat recognized them from the hospitals, they would monitor their life signs.

"Just a precaution, there are real doctors here to be sure of your well-being," Dr. Roberts said with a friendly smile to Jat's questioning look. "Now, you can get on the tables, after you remove the bathrobes and under the sheet. Then we'll administer you both sleeping gas and we can get started.."

Jat turned in a final attempt to ask what the experiment was but Dr. Robert's held up his ands and waved off the question before Jat even had the chance to ask. "Don't you worry about it, I assure you you won't be in any danger at all!!"

Jat sighed and nodded and approached the farther table and let his robe fall off and to the ground before getting on the table silently hissing at the cold temperature of it and lay down pulling the sheet after him and let it lie over his legs and waist only. He'll have to figure out what's been done after he woke.

Jerry hesitated even as Jat took his place, stepping forward as if he was crossing a pit of lava instead of simply walking over to a bed. He took his time unwinding the belt from his middle, actually struggling with the knot he had tied so tightly in his nervousness earlier. Taking a moment to fold the robe due to the fact that it seemed more polite rather than the fact of just dumping it on the floor- not to mention it gave him an excuse to put this off for a few moments- before crawling onto the bed and pulling the sheets up midchest. He didn't like to have them too far up right now, that reminded him of a dead body.

"Well," he mutters, closing his eyes so that he wouldn't have to see anything that would frighten him. "At least if I die, I'll have the blanket ready."

Shuddering at the thought, he took no notice of the bustle of people that suddenly seemed interested in him. After opening his eyes to get a good look at the sudden rush of movement of noise, he'd see some sort of covering was placed over his nose and mouth- he remembered it as something he'd see on TV when people couldn't breath or were very injured- and instantly began to panic. Counting backwards from 10 in order to soothe himself, he'd force himself to stay still, reaching 2 when everything went dark and quiet.

  • Jat's eyes fluttered open slowly as he regained consciousness, his mind was still a little groggy from the sleeping gas. Bright lights met his eyes though and he had to close them quickly with a groan, why must lights have to be so bright!? He tried to bring up his arm to cover his eyes as he tried to sit up but he felt something around his arm.

Opening his eyes again he lifted his head and shoulders to see that his hands and feet were shackled to the table, and a white sheet was still the only thing that was covering him. Looking around he seen Jerry on the other table still unconscious and there was something wrong with his hair...

"Jerry!" Jat half whispered trying to wake his friend. He had no idea what was going on but Jerry was also strapped to the table in the same fashion as him.

Failing at waking his friend he tried to pull at his bonds with all his strength, with a grinding crunch his wrist broke through the metal shackle surprisingly easy. Jat stared at his wrist amazed, he didn't believe he was that strong... did they make him stronger? Quickly he did the same with his other hand and sat up breaking the ones around his ankles.

He made his way to Jerry and broke the boys shackles as well to keep him from freaking out when he woke him. "Jerry .. wake up."

Although the results of Jat's transformation were not yet exact nor clear besides perhaps the unnatural strength, it clear quite fast that Jerry had taken a turn away from humanity. The first sign was revealed only to Jat when Jerry's eyes first opened, the single onyx eye that wasn't hidden under his hair showing signs of having been changed. An eerie glow had come to pass within his eyes, and the pupils had narrowed enough so that it was noticable. And in the next few seconds, a few other things became clear.

"Jat? Wheurre aurre we?"

Jerry's eyes widened with terror and one could've sworn that he had spiked his hair, as each end now stood up along with the hairs on his neck. And if he had taken this moment to look up, he'd realize that a set of triangular ears stood alert on his head, moving wildly to try and detect the source of the new voice. This strange sensation did nothing to soothe him, nor did the reminder that he had subjected himself to whatever might've happened to him. But that wasn't his voice. There was no way that was his voice. It was too deep and each word was underlined with a low murr-ish sound, and was that a MEOW that he heard when he tried to prnouce his r's??

  • Jat stared slightly startled, realizing what he had thought was abnormal about Jerry's hair, though it was still strangely abnormal now that it was standing on end, was actually cat ears. Jat took all of his friend's changes in stride though anger ran through him as he realized what the experiments were really all about, they had hit a dead end testing on animals and now were seeing if they could change humans as well.

Angry thoughts ran through him and as he got angrier his eyes began to tint a blood red as he looked around the room. He hadn't realized until now but they were in a different room than they had entered before, the door looked reinforced to keep them inside and Jat began to wonder if they'll be held captive there the rest of their lives.

His tongue stuck out to lick his lips and twitched when he felt something sharp tear into his tongue. Carefully he felt his teeth with his tongue and learned with growing horror and a bit of excitement that he had been turned into a vampire.

"We're still at the lab Jerry.." Jat said finally as he looked back at his friend and hating himself for forcing Jerry to come here with him. "I'm soo sorry about this..."

Jerry began to stare back at Jat for a few moments before following his friend's gaze with his hand, tentatively placing a hand on his head and pulling back with an inhumane screech when he felt his new set of ears. Eyes wide with terror and shock his hand returns to his head and takes a hold of one of his ears, pulling hard to make sure that this wasn't some cruel, twisted joke that someone had thought to put on him. And judging from the pain that caused another yowl and the fact that his ears were firmly attached, this wasn't a joke. Now as white as the sheet that had covered him, he'd slowly lower a hand across the side of his face. And the fact that he no longer pocessed a human set of ears caused him to stumble back onto the bed he had been chained to earlier.

Looking airy and light-headed as if he was about to faint, he'd start to fall over only to drop with a loud thump on the bed. Although he looked moments away from passing out, he somehow managed to keep himself awake, staring blankly into the distance as if the solution to returning to his human form would be found there. And of course he found nothing, slowly starting to snap out of it when he heard Jat began to speak. Thank God that Jat at least had his normal voice, as it still worked its soothing magic on the panicking half-feline male that seemed so close to dropping dead on the floor.

"I- You- Lab? Joke!?" he sputters, unable to string together a proper sentence. "Not your fault! This- REAL!?"

Jat wanted to scream, so badly did he want to scream. But when he began to take in the air to do so, he realized something was wrong with his mouth. Something felt weird. Different. And by the time he actually did start screaming, he realized what was wrong. His tongue now felt something like sandpaper against the roof of his mouth. And while he screeched at the top of his lungs as if being tortured, the sound he made just wasn't a human scream. It was more of something you'd hear an alleycat scream out in the middle of the night, with angry yowls and hisses that showed his teeth, which thankfully had remained normal.[/i]

  • Jat cringed slightly from the sound of the yowl-like scream after he stared rather helpless in what to do to actually calm his friend when he was stuck feeling guilty for everything that happened. The scream though brought him to his senses, moving closer to Jerry he picked him up rather easily and sat himself down on the floor cradling Jerry on his lap.

"Jerry I'm sorry.. I didn't know it was going to be like this," Jat murmured in a low and calm voice, he couldn't let Jerry know he was worried but he was extremely worried. He was a vampire now.. would that mean he'd lust for his friend's blood when he got hungry. The thought frightened him more than the change, he didn't want to risk harming his friend at all. "Don't worry I'll take care of you.. of this.."

He hoped the changes could be reversed, he didn't want to be stuck with Jerry when he began to get hungry, didn't want to attack his friend. If it wasn't reversible he didn't know what he'd do, the safest bet would be to leave Jerry and stay away from him but somehow he knew he'd never survive that himself. He cared about Jerry too much...

The door to the room opened and they heard many footsteps hurry inside, Jerry's scream apparently didn't go unheard through the building. Jat looked up his eyes a pure blood red as he glared at Dr. Robert's angrily. The man looked slightly flustered as he looked at the broken shackles and backed away from the angry vampire to be sure he was behind what Jat can only guess was security guards.

"Got free have you?" Dr. Roberts said his voice slightly shaky, he obviously thought that Jat wouldn't be able to break the shackles. "Well no matter... there's no way for you to get out of this room."

"What have you done to us?" Jat said his voice was almost a whisper but anger had turned his usual calm voice turning even the simple question to sound like a threat.

"Well it's quite obvious isn't it? This is a genetic experiment lab, your friend Jerry there is a cat-person and you Jat are a vampire," Dr. Roberts explained in a voice sounding rather cocky now, proud of his creations. "You however don't have some of the weaknesses though, you should be able to be out in sunlight without damage and we think your blood lust shouldn't kick in very easily unless you have a definite longing for the person already.. and you have extractable bat wings."

"Can you change us back to normal?" Jat asked, his voice still a deadly whisper even if in his brain warnings were thrown out to him making him panic inwardly. He was definitely a danger to Jerry it was enough to make him feel like there was someone grabbing his heart and squeezing.

"Now why would I want to do that? You two are my best creations yet with no problems at all!" Dr. Roberts said with a chuckle as he watched the two boys.

"Maybe I'll develop a longing for your blood rather soon," Jat said though the idea repulsed him he couldn't help himself saying it trying to get a chance to get Dr. Roberts to change his mind.

"Not with all of this security around me boy," Dr. Roberts said with a shrug, "and besides.. the last couple I've tried to change back to human died on the table. It's not the best procedure in the world, don't you think?"

Jerry eventually managed to stop screaming at the top of his lungs, barely caring that he was clinging to his best friend like there was no tomorrow. Instead he whimpered like a puppy, a bit of a kitten-like mew in his fearful voice, small frame quivering like an earthquake in Jat's arms. Although he was obviously terrified with the man responsible entered the room, something stronger overcame the fear. For once, anger had won the struggle for dominace in Jerry's mind.

His ears flattered against the back of his head, this time in an angle that differered from the terror that had been seen before. His lips were pulled bang in outrage and a gutted hiss emerged from deep within his throat, a sound he could never have made had he bee human. He swore he felt the hair on every inch of his body perk up as he glared hatefully at Dr. Roberts, guards shifting nervously with their hands reaching for their weapons.

Forgetting that it was a sin to hate and a sin to want someone dead, Jerry continued to eye Dr. Roberts as he were a mouse. Humanity and feline instinct were locked in battle, his memories with conflict demanding that he run away and cry while his newfound genes demanding that he tear the two-legged beast to pieces. And today, it was the feline's turn to rule.

Jerry hurtled himself from Jat's arms to crouch on the floor, hips raised in preperations for a pounce. A spare second of silence at his leap was all it took for him to hear the clink, eyes lowered to see the one change had not yet noticed. His nails were gone and in their place were slits. And now curving from these silts were claws, visable now that they were needed.

Leaping for Dr. Roberts between cries of anger and surprise, he clawed for anything and anyone that managed to get in his way. Due to Dr. Roberts protests against simply killing the attacker, Jerry was able to do enough damage to the guards, but to his frustration, was unable to get through to the man he really wanted to hurt. Eventually he was beaten down by a baton and crawled to a corner, defeated, glaring like some hellhound just waiting for another chance to strike.

  • Jat had tried to grab for Jerry before he had attacked terrified for his friend. He was a fraction late however.. he had no idea Jerry would have done that knowing not how the change effected how Jerry reacted to stressers as part cat. His blood boiled when he seen them beating on his friend however and he followed Jerry into the fray.

"Don't touch him!" He yelled punching one of the guys that stepped forward to grab him and baring his teeth jumped on one of the guards' backs his hand hooking under the man's chin and twisting too easily he heard the crunch of broken bone and the body crumbled just as Jerry cowered away and he received a blow to the kidney. Biting back a cry of pain he pulled back keeping himself in between Jerry and the guards.

"Well.. I think we've seen enough here!" Dr. Roberts said looking quite shaken as he stared at the bloody guards and one dead man on the ground.

Jat watched them leave dragging the dead man's body out the door his chest was heaving as he fought the urge to go after them. No matter what Dr. Roberts had said about his blood lust .. the scent of blood was enough to make him want it. The fact that the scent of blood lingered horrified him as his eyes turned towards Jerry. Too frightened to go near Jerry Jat quickly looked away as the realization that he had killed a person dawned on him.. in his anger he managed to do the one thing he thought he was never capable of!!

Jat fell to his knees and let out a terror filled sob all thought of trying to keep his calm around Jerry lost as he hid his face in his hands and tears ran down his cheeks. "No..." Was merely whispered into his hands.

Jerry strode back and forth across the small corner, almost looking as if he had developed a taste for chasing his tail. Or at least, he would've looked as if he was playing, if he didn't have the look of a caged in lion on his face. A defeated predator was the worst kind. When something like that was defeated and locked away, hatred only burst into a larger lust for revenge. With low growls rumbling from his throat, he watched as the corpse was dragged away. Would that be what was to feed him now on? That and tuna? The thought sickened him so much he started to turn a pale shade of green. Whatever humanity he had remaining was starting to come back.

Once his human side managed to get a control of his mind, he was able to sit still in his worry and terror, back thrown against the wall and eyes angled toward the ceiling, which was as smooth and as boring a the walls surronding them. And then he realized what he had just done. He had hurt someone, fought off someone like he's always wanted to do. His claws even had a few traces of blood remaining, and his tongue had the strangest urge to lick them clean. He hated being dirty, but the very thought of licking himself clean was revolting so he made do with wiping it away on his pants. But more importantly, he had hurt someone.

"Oh God," he whimpered, as if fully realizing what he had done for the first time.

And Jat. Jat had killed someone. And now Jerry knew something that he would've never learned without this. Jat wasn't only stronger physically. Jat was stronger, emotionally. If one could call it stronger. He was able to hurt people, although it was for a good cause. But was it there really a good cause for hurting people? Or was this just from his Christian teachings? Well if there was a God, then why was he stuck in this cage like a rat with his friend, both of them transformed to demons?

Jerry sat there having his little moral debate with himself, not seeming to notice the large purple bruises aching on his back and arms. It was obviously which of the two would loose sanity first if they weren't changed back or allowed to return to their homes. Jerry already had the look of a loonatic, without soul nor spirit as he gazed with his blank eyes to the world.

  • Jat sat in the spot not making a sound for a while arguing with himself. He killed a person and yet.. he felt good about it and bad about it at the same time. He was only trying to protect Jerry though!! That made it right didn't it? To protect the person you care about, no matter what lengths you had to take was a good thing right? Why did he feel so horrible about it though?

His shaking limbs slowly calmed to a numb sensation as Jat forced himself to calm down now realizing they had to get out of there. Return home, maybe.. what if they knew where they lived? They had their wallets all their information... They wouldn't be able to stay home if they managed to escape... If they tried to though.. would he manage to be able to fight again? He didn't want to kill another person for just doing their jobs...

What about Dr. Roberts? A voice inside Jat's mind said as he thought about it more. Dr. Roberts was doing his job, but what he was doing was against the law, wasn't it? He now kidnapped Jerry and him, the weren't allowed to leave. He turned them into... monsters, he may have consented to the experiment but not to be turned into a monster!! Would the authorities see it that way though.. both Jerry and him agreed to the experiment.

As his mind returned to Jerry he turned his head towards his usually cowardly friend. His own blood thirst had died down but was still pounding at the back of his mind but he was able to control it. The sight of his friend though, staring off blankly in such a state sent anger through him again as he stood and walked towards the door examining it. As a vampire he had their inhuman strength... Would he be able to pull the door from the door frame without having to worry about whatever locks and bars there were? Was he ready to have to fight his way out and perhaps kill more people?

Jat lay his hand against the metal door, it was cool to his touch. Would he be able to control himself at the sent of blood, and keep himself from attacking Jerry afterwards? Millions of questions ran through his head and he felt the loss of his emotions begin to crumble once more. Pressing his forehead against the door though he regained his control.

Jerry knew now that he couldn't stomach a career in law, even if he had the physical strength that had been cursed- or was it gifted- on Jat by the expirment. He couldn't stand even hurting those men who held him captive, and felt guilty about harming them even as the bruises reminded him who had gotten the worst of the beating. But what about the dead man? Was that Jerry's fault to? Jat was only trying to defend him. Was this his fault? Wracked with guilt and unsure exactly what he was supposed to be guilty about, he stands up from the corner, bones creaking as if he had been sitting there for an eternity.

Realizing that Jat was having either a simular talk with himself, perhaps one more heated as Jerry was never one to argue for too long, he would approach his friend, only a slight pause taken. Blushing faintly he'd hope that Jat didn't notice that Jerry's trust has lapsed for a moment, the faint shade of pink disappearing from his cheeks as he placed a hand on his best friend's shoulder. It took all the self control he had to keep from shivering, and his ears had gone back down in their usual state of fear and worry again.

"Jat..." he murmurs. "Jat... What are we going to do?"

Confused and terrified of what might happen to him should they remain, but equally as scared of what may happen if they tried to escape, Jerry had once more turned to Jat for answers. And he felt pathethic. Even now, when their problems were obviously too difficult to face together, he just had to put all his choices onto Jat's plate to make it easier on himself. A sick feeling inside his stomach returned and he turned away, shaking his head slightly before making the decision on his own.

"Jat, we gotta get out of here."

  • Jat flinched only slightly not realizing Jerry had been coming up behind him too focused on plans and questioning his ability to manage to get out of there without losing self control. Looking over at Jerry he tried to smile but it looked more like a grimace.

He had no real plan on how to get out of there, no real way to get to their places undetected. The moment people seen Jerry they would point the way they ran to the guards that would be chasing them. Unless... Jat blinked barely hearing that Jerry wanted to get out of there as he remembered what Dr. Roberts had said about him

"You have extractable bat wings.." Dr. Roberts had said. Could he manage to figure out how to extract them and take off with Jerry in his arms without real fear of falling? What if he couldn't do it...

"I know...." Jat murmured not realizing he had answered what Jerry had said. Turning away from the door for a split second he made up his mind. No matter what the circumstances... or the dangers he had to get out of there.

"Jerry... we're going to get out of here I promise you," Jat said turning to him and placing a delicate hand on his shoulder. "But I need you to promise me something... I'll defend you as much as I can but.. if I turn against you.. run. Promise me.. you'll run."

Jat hated having to ask this but he had to be sure Jerry understood that he may be a danger to him. Jat hated the fact he could be a danger to him, tears sprung to his eyes unbidden once more but he didn't turn away to hide them, "Promise me..."

Jerry felt as if his entire world was falling apart. Everything he knew and trusted it was being taken away and thrown in his face. His humanity, his reliance on his friend... Everything that he had lived by for the last several years had turned against him in a single day. Jerry turned away, he didn't want to see Jat cry. He had enough trouble believing that Jat actually could cry. But although he couldn't bear to see it, he also couldn't bear to just sit there, remembering the times when it was he that was crying and Jat that was comforting.

"We'll get out of here," Jerry agrees, awkwardly bringing Jat into a hug. "But I'm not leaving you behind."

That last sentence held more force than Jerry had ever had the courage to use in his life, but he meant it. There was no way that he would be able to bring himself to run from his friend, no matter how violent things got. Jat had stuck by him for all his life and Jerry wasn't about to run like a coward when Jat needed him most.

Trying to steady the back of his hand, Jerry tries to brush the tears off of Jat's face, unsure what else to do. Jat always seemed to have something or someway or some strange charm that worked to soothe Jerry in times of trouble, and right now, Jerry wished he could do the same. Or if he at least had his necklace. That had some soothing effect he'd never understand, but held to when he needed to be courageous alone.

  • This was a change to Jat as much as it was for Jerry as leaned down int Jerry's hug.His arms curled around Jerry's slim form, the thoughts he had been thinking slipped from his mind as he breathed in Jerry's sent much more noticeable to his heightened senses. His scent alone calmed jat enough not to argue with his friend. He worried but right now it seemed everything would go alright.

"I'm sorry," Jat whispered into Jerry's ear, he'd never imagined a circumstance that their roles be switched but now that they were Jat was slightly embarrassed. There were some good points to this happening to them, but he would have gladly lost them now to return to normal and find another way to find them later on. "Lets get out of here.. I think I can pull the door off its hinges but there may be guards behind them to stop us so we may have to fight our way out."

Jat pulled away from Jerry rather reluctantly, he had begun to enjoy the closeness, maybe a bit too much as his cheeks warmed but he quickly turned towards the door. Contemplating how much of a noise it would make and how many other guards would come running.

Various shades of crimson burned then faded from his cheeks due to several reasons that lead up to one, that one being the embrace and the comforting closeness it brought. For this moment their troubles were far away and it didn't matter what they'd done and what had happened to them, that almost seeming to be a distant dream compared to the overwhelming, soothing effect that basically narrowed the world and all its time to them and this moment. But there was also a voice in his head that rang confusion and guilt, ignored for the most part although a troublesome reminder that his religion didn't allow this.

"Its not your fault," he'd murmur, instantly as his thoughts were broken by the voice of his best friend. It was apparent that the last sentence did not register with Jerry until Jat had pulled away, both seeming rather hesitant to release eachother. Jerry's arms lingered for a mere moment before falling to his side, along with his ears in a sense of disappointment. But once he realized just what Jat was going to do, Jerry jerked himself to his feet. He wasn't sure he could do this, how could he? But then again... Did they really have a choice in the matter?

Bracing himself for anything and anyone, for the deafening howl of alarms and gunshots or the incoming whoosh of batons, for anything and everything that may come his way in order to prevent Jat and his escape. He had crouched on all fours on the floor again, claws outstretched in preparation for the battle to come. Some predator instinct loved the thought of the oncoming moments, as if he were the cat and whatever guards outside the mice. But the human part of him? Now that Jerry was terrified.

  • It unnerved Jat to see Jerry sink into that position, it was strange to him that Jerry was also going to fight. He would have tried to do it himself and he didn't know if the new circumstances really comforted him or not. Remembering what happened last time Jat seen Jerry get hurt.

Knowing the longer he hesitated the harder it may be to get out of there Jat stepped forwrads and grabbed holdof the door in the best spot possible to get his hands on. For a moment Jat thought it would budge as he pulled it with all of his strength but soon a sort of groan emanated from the door and the frame around it. With a final large tug and loud groan the door came away easily and Jat jumped out of the way as it fell to the ground.

The two guards that were standing outside the door turned around stunned too shocked that the door was now on the ground to realize the should draw their weapons. Taking advantage of this Jat jumped onto to door and over punching the nearest guard hard in the gut and gave him an elbow in the back of the head knocking the man out. He glanced up to see another two men running down to see what the noise was about.

Jat climbed over the unconscious body hoping Jerry would manage alright with the other he left standing he found these two more dangerous. The were drawing their batons and had guns slung over their shoulders.
