Evie smiled at him. "If you want." She liked it herself. Hey, she didn't have any real friends anymore. Friendly little strange man wasn't so bad.

Except not so small.

Barry gave a little smile and a happy little sigh, beginning to trail Evie like a sad puppy.

Well, at least he was friendly. Evie smiled at him, heading towards the baking goods isle.

"So, Barry. Have you lived around here long?"

"I don't really live near here...not quite," Barry said, half-smiling and looking to Evie, although his face pointed toward the ground.

"I live just outside of Barton East...in the hills. But I, uh...for a while. Since I was old enough to take care of myself. You?"

"Mmm, grew up in Gambino. Moved out of the city about ten years ago." She said, smiling. "Lived by myself in a little house ever since."

"Me too," Barry smiled, "A small house, I mean. I don't see the reason behind having more room than you need."

"Especially when you're alone." Evie laughed, leaning over her cart to pick up some liquid vanilla.

"Exactly," Barry said, smiled growing into a grin.

"It gets lonely sometimes with nobody to talk to, but I guess that's why people like us exist. To talk to each other."

"Mmhm!" Evie said, picking up a few other ingredients. "I don't usually find people to talk with, though. Usually hit the library and head home. It's nice to have someone to chat at."

"I don't see why,"Barry said, eyebrow arched, "It's not like you've grown horns."

"Most people aren't that friendly." Evie said, checking items off of her list. "I smile, they give me a weird look and walk off. Or they think that because I'm smiling, I'm coming onto them. Nope. I smile because I'm friendly."

Barry laughed slightly and shook his head.

"I can see that."

Evie gave a little blush, laughing. "I can't help it, you know. I see someone new and think that they obviously need to be talked at."

"Nonono," Barry said, "I mean I can see that you're friendly."

He spotted a bag of sweet potatoes, licked his lips, and snatched it up to put in his basket.

"Didn't used to be." Evie said, nodding. ":But I realized, Hey, why be mad? Life's too fast."

Barry sighed.

"Not for the ageless." But he shook that thought quickly.

"I agree."

Evie gave him a little look. "I know this might seem a little rude, but I am curious. What race are you from?" After all, she was curious, and he had interesting ears.

"Urisk," Barry smiled, "I'm from Scotland."

"How interesting!" Evie said, her eyes bright. "That explains the little lit in your voice."

"Mm, it certainly does," Barry chuckled, "and you sound like quite the native Gaian, you do."

"My parents both came here from someplace else. I've never asked. But, yes, I'm quite native." Evie smiled, leaning against her cart. "So, do you have any interesting talents?"

"None, I'm afraid," Barry shrugged, "My kind aren't exactly the magical type." And then he thought more logically.

"I can bake!"
