Lori blushed softly as Cal carried her into the inn. "Sorry sugar I don't have any rooms." The innkeeper as a girl with a thick south accent. "Oh." Lori frowned. "Is there any place we could stay? Well there's a barn if you want." The girl noticed her wrapped ankle. "I could give you a cot if you want."

"That would work fine, thank you." Cal said. It was late, and they didn't really have the luxury of looking for another place- if there even was one.

"Alright." The girl helped them get set up. "If there's anything else you need I like in the inn." she headed off leaving them blankets and to cots along with more wraps for Lori's ankle. "She's nice." Lori smiled then flinched as she moved her foot the wrong way.

Cal nodded. "Yeah." He moved to check her ankle. "I'm going to unwrap it and take your shoe off. That will make it easier to rewrap it better with the new bandages, and it'll be more comfortable." He told her what he was doing as he did it.

Lori bite her lip to keep from screaming. "It hurts so much." she groaned gripping the cot tightly as tears appeared in her eyes.

Cal stopped for a moment to let her adjust. "You're going to be alright. I know it hurts, but it'll only hurt for a moment more. Just grit your teeth and breathe slowly. Count to ten. I'm going to take the shoe off now, okay? The pain will get much less after that, I promise. It will feel a lot better once I rewrap it. Ready?"

Lori nodded and took a deep breath squeezing her eyes. When he finally got it rewrapped she let out a soft sob and curled into a ball whimpering.

Cal did his best to rewrap her ankle quickly and efficiently, to spare her from as much pain as possible. He got it wrapped cleanly and let her curl up, sitting next to her carefully. "I'm sorry. It'll start to feel better soon, but you'll have to stay off of it."

Lori nodded. "Would you mind getting me ice and maybe chocolate or ice cream if the inn keeper has it?" she asked sniffling softly drawing the blanket close to cuddle with it.

Cal blinked, then let out a surprised chuckle. "Yeah, sure. Just relax here and I'll be right back." He said, standing up. As he left the room, he couldn't help but smile. It felt...good, to care for another person.

Lori watched him go then cried into her pillow choking on her sobs as she tried to stay quiet. She wished her sister was there to help her or at least to give her a hug. When she found her she was going to give her a firm talking to."

Cal came back about five minutes later with an ice pack and a chocolate ice cream cone. "The innkeeper had chocolate and ice cream, and I couldn't decide which to get you, so I found a combination. Are you alright?"

Lori had heard the barn door open and had quickly wiped her tears away. "I'm...kind of ok." she sighed deciding not to lie. She sat up carefully flinching a little as she adjusted her ankle. "Dirty bubbles." she cursed scowling. "Thanks." she dropped the ice on her ankle with a hiss. "Ah better."

Without realizing it, Cal let out a snort of amusement. "Sorry, no, I just..." He snorted again, trying not to laugh. "No, it's not funny. It's not. But. Did you just say dirty bubbles?" The end of the sentence came out with a chuckle.

Lori stuck her lower lip out. "I did say dirty bubbles. Is there a problem with that?" her lower lip jutted out further daring him to say something mean. "I don't swear."

Cal had to let himself chuckle a bit. "No, there's no problem at all. It just caught me by surprise." He said, grinning. "It was cute."

Lori blushed darkly and looked away. "It wasn't that cute. A lady never curses she finds another way to express herself." she sighed. "Gentlemen shouldn't swear either." she shrugged.

Cal blushed this time, glancing away. "Well...I suppose I never claimed to be a gentleman..." He muttered. It was strange, being a gentleman had never mattered to him before. Why did he suddenly care now that she had said something about it?

"I know you haven't said that. I just felt like finishing the sentence. I learned that lesson at a young age but I've hurt my dad swear. Never my mom though." Lori settled in after she finished her food. "We should try to rest."

Still blushing slightly, Cal nodded. "Yeah, you're right.." He went for his pack and pulled out his bedroll, setting it up with practiced ease.

Lori was already asleep foot elevated on an extra pillow and a blanket tucked around her like a cocoon.

Cal smiled a little at the sight and set his bedroll on the floor, getting into it. He fell asleep quickly.

Lori woke with a groan rolled over forgetting her ankle until it awoke with a stab of pins and needles "Son of a sea biscuit!" she groaned grimaced. "It stings."

Alex woke with a groan and sat up slowly. "Morning already?" he asked with a smile.

Cal sat up, yawning. It took him a moment to remember where he was, but then everything came rushing back. "Are you okay?" He asked.

Rosemary was already awake, staring out the window. Her eyes were bright and she was smiling. "The sunrise is so pretty." She said. "It sets over the ocean, so I didn't get to see that yet, but it was still pretty."

"My foot woke up." Lori whined with a pout. "Its awake now and it feels better." she sat up flinching a little as she put her foot down. "a little sore and stiff but thats to be expected."

"I know you'll love it as well." Alex smiled at her tugging on her hair a little. "You'll really bloom here."
