Amelia had awoken early, as she always did, in her small home at the outskirts of the castle. She had to be ready, clean, bathed, dressed and within the castle as soon as she could manage, after all she had work to do, it was within her luck that the castle had been hiring in recent weeks, she herself having only just gotten to the castle town of Feyvell but days before she'd heard of the openings.
She sprung at the chance, introducing herself politely to a guard outside whom had lead her in, of course after checking for weapons, but the only lethal weapons to be found were her nails. They wouldn't stand up very well to a sword.

It had taken a long conversation, but the pleasant Amelia had come across as quite the dutiful worker to the Matron who commanded the maids and kept everything orderly. The daily life routine began and now Amelia was one of the more diligent workers.
She was considered perhaps a little strange at times. All smiles, but not fake, a kind of perennial happiness that pointed to a happy young woman. Yet living alone as she did was was a surprise to those who knew. Amelia had no-one to talk to at home, unless you were to count the cat that had crept its way into her home and made a permanent resident of itself a week after she'd moved in.

Even the townsfolk that were starting to see her regularly when she would shop for food or items for her home, small things, meat to be stored, vegetables, mats for her floor, cleaning brushes, spare clothes and all the makings of a seamstress, threads, needles, cloths, probably to let her make some of her own clothes or curtains and the like for her home.
Amelia had gained a small reputation as a pleasant girl.

Once prepared she finally stretched out from her home, stopping to give the cat-intruder, now called Miles, a scratching behind the ear before she pulled a pair of thin gloves on, they fitted her quite perfectly, she always wore them. The rest of her maids outfit was quite clean and ironed out.
The maid walked toward the castle confidently, her smile worn on her face again with light chocolate eyes sparkling and russet brown hair tied neatly back, long bangs at the front combed to either side to frame her face. Just like every other day, like clockwork.

If only they knew.

Jeremy woke up and noticed he had woken up early like usual. He took a cold shower and changed into his knight outfit. It seemed to him that knights didn't really do anything unless they were in war or something alon that matter. Since it was quiet peaceful now, they were just allowed to wander around and keep the castle safe from any harm. Jeremy sighed and walked off to the castle which wasn't so far away. He lived alone and didn't mind it much, bu he did get lonely quiet easily. "I wonder what today will bring..." he said to himself and walked inside the castle and looked around. Even though he worked here for a while now he still had to take a good look at the inside since he still couldn't believe it. Getting a job as a knight took a while since he had to go through some tough training and then later on prove himself worthy. It was hard, but in the end it was well worth it.

Amelia made sure to adjust her dress in little bits, if it wasn't at its tidiest when she started she'd probably upset the matron and she didn't want that. She raised her hands to make sure her hair was neat, blocking her field of view, all but the path she was on as she didn't even notice the night. She couldn't hear his footsteps amongst those of the other early risers, setting up shop, or in the case of night guards, probably finishing their final patrol before they could go to bed. Daily life was as it always was, and who was Amelia to argue about it all? She liked routine, and the odd peace she gleaned from this town.
There would always be troubles, but for now it all seemed perfect.

As her arms lowered she caught a glimpse of sunlight to her side, which was odd in itself because the sun was a little higher than that. She focused, the early morning blur of her eyes fading as she saw the young man that the sun accompanied, it beamed off his hair in a rather radiant manner, at least until a cloud passed overhead.
She stood stunned for a moment. Without staring too long she bowed politely in his direction. She could tell he was a knight, there were others who wore the same outfit,
"Good morning, sir Knight." She stated quite cheerily, standing straight and tilting her head with a smile, "Would it be presumptuous of me to ask you to be my escort?"

Jeremy stopped walking when he heard a voice and turned to see one of the maids speaking to him. "Good morning little maid..." he said to her and smiled in her direction. Today seemed like a very calm and peaceful day, and Jeremy hoped that it stayed that way. He ran a hand through his hair as he listened to her question. "No it would not be little maid." he said and then asked. "Where would you like me to escort you miss?" he asked her and thought already that she would most likely say the kitchen.

The first calling of little maid prompted an odd look on Amelia's face, it was further soured when he repeated it and she sidled up to him, pointing a finger up at him accusingly,
"I will have you know, good sir, I am not that little," She replied, but she couldn't help and grin a little. Her eyes looked at the road between them and the castle, it wasn't terribly long but company for even a short while would be nice. She placed her hands on her hips and smiled,
"To the gates of the castle would be fine, I am sure I will be quite safe from there on out. Not that I could suggest there being any danger here at all, no rogue mages or monsters, certainly no dragons that would cause us much hassle." She added, offering her arm over to the knight for him to take, may as well make sport of this friendly meeting.

She did find this place rather quiet, but she supposed she liked it this way, it was much better. But of course even peace would end one day, she just hoped she would not be alive to see it happen. It made her remember home the way it used to be, but she simply pushed the memory aside,
"And just so you know, my name is Amelia." The maid added, looking curiously over at him, he was certainly a handsome fellow, but she knew not to think like that, both for work reasons and social status, she couldn't possibly go after a knight, "May I know your name, sir knight?"

Jeremy looked down at her and chuckled. "Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you miss." he said to her nicely. So this little miss wanted a companion to walk her to the gates? That was very close by, but he didn't mind. "So you want me to walk with you to the gates?...okay then, I can do that." he said and smiled. He was quiet the funny guy at times and would use sarcasm at times too. "Amelia huh? I guess I'll call you miss Amelia. Or would prefer lady Amelia instead?" he asked her as he raised an eyebrow in a questioning way. "No you may not...my name really is of none of your concern..." he said and laughed some. "Okay, I'll tell you. My name is Jeremy...but you may call me sir Jeremy or knight Jeremy. I don't mind." he replied.

"Lady Amelia..?" The maid chuckled, "I am hardly a lady of nobility, Amelia will do fine." She responded, her face went into a slight of disappointment again when he said she couldn't know his name at first, she had already culminated excuses in her head as to why she shouldn't know it, but he surprised her all the same by then telling her.
So it was Sir Jeremy. It was a nice enough name, certainly a simple one and not as illustrious as some of the odd names she'd heard up at the castle, it made her curious how far back his bloodline went in terms of being a knight.

She waved those curiosities for the time being, focusing more on the fact that she had a handsome young man escorting her to the castle now on a cold morning, she made sure to adjust her unfirom properly again, couldn't be too careful, had to be very tidy, though she looked aside to Jeremy,
"So, Sir Jeremy, how long have you lived here? Do you have any family..?" She added the last question with a slight of hesitation, but it was a normal question to ask. She had her own reasons to be a little apprehensive about it but it shouldn't stop her from asking she supposed. She was trying to think of as many things to ask, though she doubted she would be able to get to them all before they reached the gates.
But perhaps tomorrow luck would have it they may walk together again..

"Amelia it is then." he said to her and shot her a kind smile. "Well I've lived her for a few years....and I do have family, but I rarely have time to visit them really." he said and frowned. "What about you Amelia?" he asked and noticed that they were reaching the gates soon. He hoped to walk again with her tomorrow...or maybe talk to her if they bumped into each other.
