Gossip (Bio): Her family wasn't exactly rich or exactly poor. Her parents worked their butts off to get where they were now and pave a path for the future of their children. Novalee (Nova as she liked to be called) was only one out of five children and the oldest. Finding an acceptable suitor has been a priority as of lately. She thought she was too young to be looking for the "one", but she came to the ball anyways on the request of her parents. The least she could do is make friends, right?

Scarlett got out of her carriage that had just arrived at the large home where the ball was to be held. She went over to the door, escorted by her best friend; Ace. She was holding onto his arm and laughing at the little jokes they whispered between each other and paid no mind to anyone else around them as they waited for the door to open so they could go into the party. She felt bad for Ace having to find a wife, but she would never marry her best friend. They were too much like brother and sister so all she did was encourage him to dance with a lot of pretty girls tonight. Scarlett was wearing her silver ball gown and a silver rose pin in her hair that was straight and went down to her mid back. Her dress flowed outwards over her silver slip on ballet shoes and her mask covered partial amounts of her face with its silver glow. She looked over at Ace to look at his outfit.

Ace laughed along with Scarlett, thankful that her cruel stepfather had let her go to the ball with him to help her find a suitor while Ace looked for someone to court. He was wearing a dark black suit with a simple silver tie to match Scarlett's dress and then a all black mask that only covered the area around his eyes. He looked Scarlett over and adjusted her mask, smiling a little. "You look beautiful. I'm sure you'll attract one man here, and if not there is always me." He said, raising her knuckles to his lips and kissing them gently. He had heard that the hostess wanted to give them all a surprise but he thought nothing of it.

"Well now,my guests are here..." Karin swirled in her dress,smiling at the both of them. "Welcome Ms.Scarlett,and Mr.Kurai...I hope you enjoy the party. Snacks are in the corner,by the piano."
Karin played with her hair a bit as she motioned to a white-and-gold curtain.
"And that is for later. No one is allowed to enter it....yet...."

Scarlett walked into the room, giving a curtsy to the girl and then making her way into the ballroom. She unhooked her arm from Ace's and kissed his cheek. "Thank you for escorting me, but i'm going to go and get a drink." She said with a small smile. She left him standing by the entrance of the ballroom and went over by the piano, grabbing herself a glass of punch and taking a drink from it. She looked around the room, her emerald eyes going back to Ace's since there wasn't really anyone to talk with other than him. When she walked her shoes made no noise but her silver dress swayed behind her. She then stood beside Ace again and sighed. "What a lovely party.." She mumbled.

Ace felt a slight blush come to his cheeks when Scarlett kissed the left side of his face and watched her go to the drink and food area. He let his eyes fall onto the hostesses dress and quickly shook them off. She wasn't exactly his piece of cake. He like his women to be more modest than flirty as she was. Though she was a beautiful woman, he had his eyes else where.

Karin tilted her head with a smirk. "Those two look like a couple...it's almost cute." Tying on her mask,she flipped her hair.

Arriving to the ballroom in a tuxedo Zack places his hands on his suit and pulls down a bit to make the suit firm, looking around for a moment he checked on the suit and sighed to himself in boredom thinking that this may be another boring business meeting in disguise. Walking into the place he started looking around and was noticing that it was less them a business meeting and more of a party, sighing in blissful relief for a moment he started to walk around to see if anyone else was here besides himself and the three others that were talking in the room.

Karin approached Zack with a welcoming smile. "Welcome to the party. My name is Karin,and I'll be your hostess tonight. Snacks are in the corner,as you can clearly see."

Corelie swept into the ballroom with as much aplomb as she could muster.

...All right, all right. She tip-toed with as much grace as she could muster so she wouldn't get the train of her dress caught under her feet. Concentrating as she was on not falling down in her high-heels, she did not particularly notice whether or not the other guests at the ball noticed her arrival.

"Made it!" She cried as she finally entered the ballroom, and at the same time got the trick of walking and keeping her train behind her. Corelie saw a few people glance over at her; blushing deeply, she nonetheless tried to laugh it off.

"My carriage broke down before I got here and my driver had to find a new one; I was afraid I was going to be late," she lied with a smile. The others nodded and smiled back and turned away, and she sighed with relief.

That was when she heard the words "hostess" and "snacks in the corner." Whirling about, Corelie honed in on the latter part of what was being spoken, turning her head this way and that to find the specified corner. She could not walk like a lady, but she could at least hold a glass and nibble refreshments like one.

Novalee sighed as the carriage stopped in front of the palace. She really had not wanted to come, but she was thankful that her friend, Jayson, came with. The two climbed out of the carriage and walked up to the doors before sliding though them in hopes that no one would notice they were late. They didn't look around to see if anyone did. They just nonchalantly walked toward the consession table.

"This is stupid. Why are our parents forcing us to find suitors?" Jayson was always one who didn't want to do what his parents wanted him to. They meant well, but it just wasn't something he was ready for as of yet. He wasn't ready to settle down and start a family, but that didn't mean he couldn't have a little fun at the party.

"Well my parents want me out of the house and whatnot." Novalee picked at the food. She wasn't really hungry which was odd for her when her parents constantly complained about the amount of food she ate withing a days time.

"Hah...I knew throwing a suitor-finding ball would be perfect..." Karin thought to herself,stretching slightly..."I wonder where he is..." Karin said aloud to herself...

As the small orchestra began to play on the slightly risen stage in the corner,music played softly and grew louder.

Karin looked around, seeing the guests chit-chat and waltz on the floor...she narrowed her eyes as slight loneliness settled in...

Scarlett and Ace both looked at each other with a sigh. They weren't so good at the whole 'meeting' people thing, and chatting amongst others. Scarlett took another sip of her drink and glanced to Ace who was fidgeting with his tie and bit her lip. "I wonder what there is to do at the party.." She mumbled, hearing the orchestra begin. It was a beautiful tune but she could never dance with Ace.

"Might as well dance...he's not here yet,anyway.." Karin stood up and strode to Ace,smiling. "No time seems to be passing,and you two haven't had your first dance! Since that's so...might I cut in?" she politely asked,offering her hand out for Ace to dance...

Ace nodded. "Sure, dancing would be nice." He said, taking her hand and leading her to the dance area. "Oh, Scarlett and I aren't together.. we just came in the same carriage." He said, biting his lip. "So how has your night been so far?"

"Tiring...I'm waiting for my special guest to arrive,though..."She smiled lightly.."So,then...you and Scarlett are friends?"

Jayson sighed as he leaned back on the wall. "This is absolutely boring. There's really nothing happening here." He never really liked dances. He enjoyed talking to people and making new friends, but with the music, sometimes you couldn't hear whomever it was you were talking to. The only thing they could do was dance, chat, or eat which wasn't very interesting to him. He didn't even know how to dance.

Novalee wasn't one to like dances either. She hated the fact that you had to dress up just to meet a few people you'd never see again, or dance with some guy that won't even remember your name. It was absolutely pointless. She looked around at the other guests and noticed one that she thought looked familiar. "Could it really be?"

Jayson looked down at her. "What could really be?" He looked in the direction that she was and only found a girl there. Not a bad looking girl, but he didn't know her or even recognize her.

"I think that's Scarlett. I'm going to go over there and talk with her." She walked toward the girl and left her friend by the concession table. Walking up to the girl, she said, "Scarlett? Scarlett Andrews?"

Scarlett looked up from her drink. "Yes?" She asked, then smiled when she realized who this girl was. "Novalee Snyder?" She asked, grinning as she sat down her cup and gave her a hug. "I haven't seen you in forever! And I must say that man your with is quite handsome.." She said, looking in his direction. She had known Novalee from the old town her mother and her had lived in. Of course Scarlett had lived on the poor side until just recently, but Nova had always been very nice to her and seemed to be middle class.

Ace grinned. "A special someone?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "And who might you be waiting for?" He asked, then nodded a little. "Scarlett and I are friends. Her mother married my father.. so were step brother and sister. Were actually quite good friends despite all we've been through."

"Ooh,I see..." Karin smiled...
"I'm waiting for my...betrothed to arrive. However he doesn't seem to be here yet..." She narrowed her eyes..
"But throwing that aside...let's just dance."

Novalee smiled and hugged the girl back. "I know" She looked back at her friend that was now standing by himself. "I guess. It's kinda odd to think of a friend as handsome though." She turned her attention back to the girl. "So how are things?" It was nice to talk to someone she knew. Of course, she knew Jayson, but he had to socialize with the others. It had been to long since she last talked to the girl.

Scarlett smiled. "Things have been god.. well sort of. Ever since my mother married that beast of a man i've been sent to multiple parties to find a suitor." She groaned, taking another drink. "Oh, I came with my step brother. He's quite handsome.. though i'd never think of having him as my suitor. Too odd." She said, pointing over to her step brother in case Nova didn't know who he was. She knew Ace was looking for a girl so maybe he would talk to Nova sometime.

Ace glanced at her. "Your engaged? To whom?" He asked, twirling her and looking to Scarlett. He smiled at the girl next to her and then stopped the dance, giving the girl a bow. "I'm sorry for ending the dance so quickly.. but i'm engaged to be engaged so I must find someone who isn't engaged already." He chuckled, running his hand through his dark hair.

"It's alright. Go talk to that Novalee girl. She may be available."

Novalee sighed, "You too? It seems that every parent is doing that these days." She looked to the male that Scarlett was pointing at. He was handsome, but what was he like? A personality could break and or seal a deal just like looks could for others. "That would be odd, but not unheard of."

Because he was bored, Jayson decided to walk over to his friend and learn the name of the girl she was talking with. "Who is your friend here, Nova?"

"Oh, I'm Scarlett." She said to the boy, giving a small smile. She looked back at Nova and grinned as Ace made his way over to them. Ace looked stunning in his outfit and hadn't really done much to his appearance. All he had to do to get ready for the ball was brush his hair and throw on some clothes. While Scarlett had to fix her hair, paint her nails.. pick out the prettiest dress she owned and then put everything together. Scarlett never wore make up because she felt it was a waste of time and it didn't really do anything to enhance her looks. The only thing that changed was that her eyes looked a little darker.

Ace walked over to Scarlett and the girl and boy and gave a small bow. "Hello, I'm Ace. And who might you two be?" He asked, looking at the beautiful girl next to Scarlett. He then looked to the boy and patted his shoulder. "Beautiful date you have here." He said with a small smirk, stepping next to Scarlett to whisper in her ear. "Do you know this lovely woman?"

"Scarlett. That's a beautiful name. I'm Jayson." He looked over at the boy that patted him on the shoulder. "Novalee here? Oh, no. She's just a friend of mine." He looked to his friend to verify his claim. At one point, he did have a crush on her, but there was nothing between them so it didn't last. He turned to the male, repeating his name for him. "I'm Jayson, and this is Novalee."

Novalee nodded when Jayson said they were only friends. They tried dating, but it didn't work out. Luckily, they were able to stay friends afterwards. When Jayson told the boy her name, she waved.

Scarlett blushed. "Thank you..Jayson's a very cute name." She said, smiling a little. She was happy that Novalee and Jayson were just friends, since he was pretty attractive in her emerald eyes and not many other men here caught her eyes. "So what brings you bother here tonight?" She asked, leaning against the piano and taking a sip of her drink. She sighed softly and looked around the room.

Ace smirked. "It's nice to meet you Novalee, Jayson." He said, nodding to both of them. "Would you like to dance Novalee?" He asked, putting out a hand for her to take if she wanted to dance with him. He looked towards Scarlett, knowing she was probably very bored and grinned.
