Well, I can't speak for the tree nuts part. Allergy is a very good reason for not trying X'D

I think I'm okay with all foods, no known allergies to any of them...I'd like to try them and see what they're like. o Ao

And count your lucky stars that you don't have a food allergy. They're rage-inducing.

I can imagine. My mom wanted me to go gluten-free for a while and it was driving me nuts because I kept accidentally eating stuff that has it in them. >__>;

As far as I know, gluten-free has no real benefit unless you have a gluten intolerance, sensitivity, or allergy. Unfortunately, all the kinda hipstery and food-trendy people jumping on the bandwagon who don't have to worry about their digestive system going flooey if they eat something with gluten in it, are making all the gluten-free options through-the-nose expensive for everyone else....

It's kinda like how it seems every other thing on the shelves now has tree nuts in it for no concievable reason. And I'm not talking stuff like brownies or cookies or spreads, no; I'm talking about stuff like meatballs, fruit cups, Pop-tarts, frozen veggies, snack chips...the stuff that nuts have no business being in in the first damn place!

lol Wtf. xD;; Yeah I heard that a few foods that were originally inexpensive had their prices skyrocket because the food-trendy people started buying them in droves because they're the next best thing or something and it sucked for the people who were originally buying and eating them for their inexpensive prices. >_>

This is why food trends annoy me =_=. I remember when anything hazelnut spread was the latest "new thing", it was in freaking everything chocolate. And here I am, allergic to hazelnuts, suddenly unable to eat most of the chocolate stuff in the sweets section becaue everyone got obsessed with hazelnuts and hazelnut spread.....

Oh man that sucks! D: I like hazelnut for its taste, I hadn't noticed it started to get everywhere, just that there were suddenly hazelnut milk tea being sold at drink shops...

Thankfully, it seems to have petered out...thank god.
Unfortunately, there's still avocado everywhere. I hate the stuff.

Haha I rather like avocado. xD Avocado milk is really nice, but too expensive for me to want to buy them.

Ehhh...you can have my share X'D. I hate avocado with a passion; I think it's disgusting.

Often times the reason why nuts are included in the ingredient list is because the foods are processed where nuts are used in other foods and there is the chance of cross-contamination.
My granddaughter was in a kindergarten class where she needed to bring 2 snacks every day, but 2 of the kids in the class had nut allergies so nobody could bring anything that included nuts. It became quite challenging to think of snacks that she would eat that didn't include nuts.
Rice Krispies treats don't include nuts, but Rice Krispies treats with M&M's include a warning that they are made where nuts are processed.
Even dried fruit carry the same warning about being made where nuts are processed.

@Inzane: Which is why I pay attention to the "may contain" and "processed in a facility with" parts of the label. But, at least with me, if they're not part of the direct ingredients list I'm probably okay. But I know why they're there.

Something I try to do when I'm bringing food that I'll be sharing with a group, I'll try and ask or pass around a list for people to put down food allergies, and work around that. Because I've got a food allergy and I know how friggin' rage-inducing they are.
