A Different Kind Of Fruit Basket.


Story:

Millions of years ago, before life on Earth had crawled from the oceans and began to evolve on land, The Grand Builder was making the map of life from the stars. The Builder grew lonely being the only being in the whole universe, so 'he' decided to create children from the remaining stars. A totally of twelve children where created and The Builder sent them to Earth to live. The children where named the Zodia.

At the time, Earth was a bare planet of dirt, there was no vegitation, water, animals or bacteria. The Zodia children couldn't breath on Earth, remained in a sleeping state, so The Builder sent an enormous chunk of space ice to the planet. As the ice melted, entering the atmosphere, the oceans where born along with nature. In no time, the trees and grasses began to grow, the children could finally breath and grow.

As the children grew older and into adults, The Builder grew mornful of the children's youths lost in time and decided to create the thirteenth child. The birth of the new child enraged the elder children and they began to fight over the land and animals that had come to be over their hundreds of years of life. This disapointed The Builder and to punish the children 'he' returned the all thirteen children to the skies to be constallations.

Years passed and Earth matured quickly, as expected by The Builder. It was not long before he could allow the children to return to life. To keep the children in control, The Builder decided that the children and 'him'self, would be reborn on the planet as mortal humans. Though the Zodia children where born with no former memory of their lives as celestrial beings, a curse placed on them by The Builder insured that they would always be aware of their true identities. During times of great embarasment or stress, they would take a devine form that reflected their true forms.

Now, in the year 2015, the Zodia have been reborn to human parents who know nothing of their children's curse. Choosing not to devide the children, The Builder made sure the children would cross paths during their educational careers. Orion Middle High school in Virginia was where their paths are destined to collide.

Personality: Mani isn't your conventional 'bad girl' dispite her appearance. She is a bubbly, kind and fun loving girl with tendencies to be rough and tough. With a black belt in karate, she is both strong yet diciplined but doesn't always put her training to good use. With a B+ average, she isn't overly smart but she is wise in her own ways when she's being serious long enough.
Background: Manuella, or Mani as she prefers to be called, has just moved to Virginia and is a new student attending Orion Middle-High School. At her previous school, she'd picked so many fights with the boys that her mother was constantly in the school having to speak with the principle. Mani's father died when she was five which shook her world up pretty bad. She became very rebelious by the time she was ten and was running with a pretty bad gang by the time she turned eleven.

Personality: Pandora is very easy to get along with and has a caring nature. She acts motherly at times, but that's just how she is. Background: Pandora had lost her parents at a young age, so she was raised by her grandparents instead. She has gone to several different schools, moving after a year or two of staying there. Her grandparents finally settled down in Virginia and decided to stay there. She had enrolled at Orion Middle-High School during the second semester for her sophomore year, so she doesn't have very many friends. The friends that she does have, though, she is happy to have.

Personality: Prides himself on having made it to the final grade of school without his curse being detected. Keeps to himself, only to avoid confrontation, but when placed in situations where most people would be shy and uncomfortable (like speeches in front of class) he passes it off as nothing.
Background: Born to a family with money, he hasn't needed to worry about financial issues his entire life. They sent him to public school to try to teach him some humiliation, but he breezed through all the classes, choosing to keep to himself and read or goof off. Everything they taught came naturally to him, and he never had to worry. Now in his final year of school he's been getting a little bit cocky, and doesn't see the trouble that could come his way and ruin his easy going lifestyle. His parents are thinking that it is time to kick him out of the house. He is an only child, and they liked his 'sister' better, and as hard as they've tried, they have not been able to teach the boy any lessons, or get him to bring her around. When he does shift to his cursed form, he seems to be more docile, and more annoyed with things than anything else. And tends to stay in the form for awhile because he is ashamed of his feminine body.

Now 17, Anastasia is making it her mission to find her parents.

Personality: Very quiet, this is quite odd considering that he is the captain of the basketball team. Though he is very stubborn when it comes to things that he is passionate about, you could almost say he is stubborn as a bull.
Background:
Being unnaturally tall since he was eight, 5 foot even, everyone has always guessed he would be a basketball player. In middle school he was chosen as captain every year for the basketball team. When he hit high school the coach told him that he would be on varsity every year because of his height and skill. Rising to the top of this schools basketball team was very easy for him seeing as he is the tallest yet nimble. When it comes to his social life he has a healthy one, mainly due to his basketball career. However he does not date ever which is very upsetting for the girls of his high school.

Personality: In his normal form, Kiero is seen as a quiet loner, though he can be kind and nice to people when needed. He tends to keep apart from other people and is slightly afraid of who he is. When transformed he is seen as dark and arogant, at times a threat to the family. His normal form is seen as his light and good side, where his zodiac side is seen as a dark side, where he becomes stronger more outspoken and straightforward as well as violent. His other side surfaces at times when he is in his human form, where in he takes on the name of "Xero" and he will usually gain a black streak in his hair. Both sides have a strong attraction and weakness for the head of the family.

Background: Kiero was kept inside most of his life and homeschooled as well. At times his own family was afraid of him, so they sent him to the main house where he seemed to take on the role of a "pet" to the head of the family. He has been sort of a spy for him all his life, keeping an eye on the other members of the Zodiac, while fufilling any other wishes that the head needs. He has found himself in many situations due to the role he has been playing due to his split personality. Many always thought he was insane but "Xero" has been an asset in many plans that the head has been up to.

Background: Mikayla started school early because she was a very smart child from birth. While this did wonders for her achademic skills, her social skills suffered. In kindergarten she met the first grade, at the time, Agatha who became her best and only friend. Mikayla looks up to Agatha like a big sister and is ofter treated poorly by the girl as if she were her little sister. Agatha has a knack for putting Mikayla down and trying to keep her under her thumb, but she doesn't have to try to hard. Mikayla has an ugly duckling complex, which means she thinks of her self as ugly due to constantly being put down by her family and Agatha. Background: When Flora was born, her parents didn't want to keep her. They abandoned her, putting her up for adoption because she wasn't the son that they had wanted. She stayed at the adoption center for a few weeks until a nice couple came and adopted her. They cared for her as if she was their own daughter, giving her the love she didn't receive from her own parents.

But he couldn't handle how many things he saw that no one else did. So he and his parents ended up moving to smaller and smaller towns. Finally ending up here.
He failed 10th grade when a classmate died in a car crash, and he would see her still walking the halls. He couldn't handle the emotions and stopped going to school.
Other: He likes nature the best because it is calmer than bustling areas. And especially hates hospitals and funeral homes. And basically, any place that can be littered with ghosts.

Background: She grew up in the small town, going to Orion middle-high school just as the stars of this story currently are. She went off to college and graduated with a four-year degree. But even as she was taking the classes her art projects were landing in big-time art galleries. She was well on her way to becoming famous. So when she turned 21 and was in her last year, she secured an art show that would last a year or so in NYC. A big deal, but not as big as landing one overseas. She was working on that, but wanted something grand for that. She choose to return to her home town which had inspired her from the beginning to become artistic anyways. The nature settings there were beautiful and some of her favorite to paint. She was likely to land a job in Paris very soon.

:: Opening Post::

Dawn came early on the Eastern Virginia town of Kilmarnock. The morning was crisp and fresh with the ocean breeze coming into land off the Atlantic ocean. September had just begun and the first day of school was upon the students of Orion Middle High School. Home Room started at 8 AM sharp and it's already 7:30!

Pandora had gotten up late, throwing on her clothes. It was the usual outfit for her. A black skirt, white button up shirt, loose red tie, a blue jacket, thigh high stockings, and blue converse. She combed her hair quickly and rushed downstairs to eat a quick breakfast before grabbing her messenger bag of school stuff and running out the door. She skidded slightly as she made a sharp left turn past the gate and ran down the sidewalk as fast as she could, not wanting to be late to school.

Beep beep BEEP... The alarm was going off in Manuella's ear but she didn't show much sign of life. With a zombie slow hand, she reached up and slapped the off button. She rolled out of bed and looked herself in the mirror with a bit of a grimis and went to work. Infront of her, a plethera of makeup covered Manuella's armoir. Purples, blues, greens, the whole rainbow was at her fingertips. Mani painted her face, changed her clothes and left her house without a word to her parents.

"Rosie! Rosie wake up dear you'll be late!" Her grandmother called up the stairs.Rosemary Kazane, aged 15,stood in front of the mirror in her bathroom, checking her hair."im almost ready, grandma!" She yelled back, smiling.her grandparents were more excited than her for the first day of school.she didn't blame them- they always hoped with each new year that she would make friends.she checked one more time.her hair was up in her usual pigtails, a pair of chopsticks stuck creatively in each side.she wore a black pleated skirt with a chain belt, an emerald green t-shirt and a black leather jacket hanging open over it.black goth style boots completed the look, along with her bite me bracelet and choker necklace with the crescent moon charm."looks good.alright, time to go." She said, throwing her backpack over one shoulder and bounding down the stairs.she grabbed a piece of toast and ran out the door."see you later grandma, see you grandpa! Love you!" She called as she mounted her mountain bike- 12 speed- and sped off towards school for the beginning of a new year.she made it with time to spare, and decided to spend that time milling around her locker and people watching.

As Mani got closer to the school she took notice of a blond girl ahead of her. Something about her seemed familiar, but that was impossible. She'd just moved her from out of state and didn't know anyone from here, especially anyone who looked as inocent as that. But none the less, it didn't change the fact that she was confused and had no idea where she was going.

"Hey, Sunshine," Mani called out, refering to the color of the girls hair. She quickened her pace and closed the gap between them. "Yo, the name's Mani." The punk said smoothly to the blond girl, getting the introductions out of the way so she could just get down to buisness. "You wouldn't happen to be headed to the Orion School would you?"

Pandora blinked a couple times when she heard someone called out from behind her. She turned her head slightly to see a super bright punk girl headed her way. When she heard the girls name and what she had asked, she nodded slightly. "Yeah," she said, "I am, actually. And my name's Pandora. Nice to meet you Mani." She smiled up at the girl, continuing to walk.

"That's a pretty cute name for a cute face. Mind if I fallow you? It's my first day at the school, it's not like I'm a stalker or anything." Mani said before pulling out her student ID card to the girl for reassurance. She brushed a piece of purple hair from infront of her sky blue eyes and smiled. She only looked bad ass on the outside, she was actually quite friendly though she came on strong.

"Sure," Pandora said, "I moved here near the middle of last year, actually. Right when the second semester was starting. I'm still kinda new to the school, but I know where most of the classes are at." She turned her gaze, seeing the school coming into view.

The school was astounding to see. For a small town, this place was huge! There were easily over 1,000 different class rooms, a whole building devoted to phys. ed, and another just for a library. It was a school lover's dream come true. Mani was in awe as she and Pandora approached. The courtyard of the school was littered with students of all ages, ranging from sixth graders up to seniors. Sure there where cliques, where weren't there any? But for the most part the school seemed as harmonious as a school could be.

"Limp...bizket!" Mani's jaw dropped, "This is Orion?"

Max stretched his arms above his head yawning widely as he blinked open his eyes to sun pouring in through his bedroom window right onto his face. Lazily he grabbed for the remote that was right where he left it on the headboard, and turned the television off. It was a habit of his to go to sleep with the television on.

From downstairs he could smell the pleasant aroma of breakfast being made by someone. More than likely it was Marie the head chef, it was very unlikely that it was his parents, they had never seemed to pay him much attention. Slowly he moved to the bathroom of his suite and took a quick shower to wake up and get the remaining sleepy out of his system. Than he pulled on the first clothes his hands touched in the closet as he looked at the clock. It's obnoxious neon green lights was blaring the time 7:45 at him. "Eh, I'll probably make it to school before first bell." He shrugged, and pulled on boxers, some loose jeans, and a baggy t-shirt. Than grabbed his favorite hoodie off of his desk chair and hung it over his shoulder as he meandered down the stairs.

"Morning Marie." He grinned as she placed a loaded plate of food in front of him. "Ah you know me so well, thanks a bunch." He shot her his most charming smile, the cook was fun to flirt with, though they never took it anywhere serious. Besides which, she was much older than him, and not really his type. As he shoveled food into his mouth savoring every inhale, he wondered what his type even was. Than shrugged to himself, Eh, doesn't matter.

Than off he went towards the school, it wasn't that far away from his home anyway, maybe a 5 minute walk at most, when he was being slow and lazy. Which of course he was today. Hoodie now on to fight the chill of fall settling in, and summer leaving, and backpack with all new school supplies swung over his shoulder, grabbed from the coat rack by the door. He'd made sure to have that ready the night before. Why worry about it when it wouldn't really be needed much the first day of school anyways.

Pandora nodded and laughed softly. "I had a similar reaction when I first came here," she said, "But yeah, this is Orion. It ranges from 6th grade classrooms to 12th grade and all that good stuff. The library seems a lot larger inside, too. But it's got some nice places to lounge around at if you need to study or just relax."

"Pretty impressive." Mani admitted still looking around the area. Eventually the two of them made it inside. "So what grade are you in any way? I'm in my Sophmore year." She adjusted the strap of her bag on her shoulder and looked around the crouded locker hall.

Rosemary stood in the shade under a tree in the courtyard, watching the other students show up.a punk looking girl and a girl she vaguely knew walked in, and she felt a stab of recognition.she shrugged it off.it was a small town, so everyone was familiar.more than likely she had seen the new girl in town or something.for a moment she considered trying to make friends, but decided against it.she wasn't good at it and she knew that by the end of the day, no matter how nice she was, the others would have the girl calling her ice princess and hating her just like they did.

"I'm in my junior year," Pandora said, "Oh! If you dont have your schedule yet, then you should go to the guidance office and get it from one of the counselors. I could show you around, if you'd like, too!"

Rosemary watched the two girls, feeling a vague sense of sadness and loneliness.she snorted."why should I feel sad? I'm fine.I don't need anyone to notice me.I'm fine..." she said to herself, and headed towards the guidance office.she needed her schedule anyway.

Maxwell strode onto the school grounds and straight through the front door. No wasting time until after he checked what time he had left to waste. A clock in the hall said it was 5 minutes until class. "Darn." He shrugged it off as a eh i enjoyed my morning walk to school. And headed straight towards the guidance office to grab his senior year schedule. It was the only strange system about public school he'd found.

You had to get to the school early on the first day, or come sometime during the summer to pick up a copy of your next years schedule. Really silly system, but hey, it apparently worked for these people. Every year had gone smoothly, and now he was almost free of the place.

On her way to the guidance councilors office, Gemini passed a boy she knew by reputation.there were alot of girls, and guys, who had crushes on him, and he seemed so detached, as if none of them mattered.naturally, she had never spoken directly to him.the stab of recognition came again, and she shook it off.she mumbled a quick "hi." To Maxwell James Kirk, and hurried past him with her head down, hoping he wouldn't poke fun at her.

Max heard a shy voice mumble hi, and he let out his own casual "Hey." Nothing more. It could have come across any number of ways, but mostly, he meant it as a, he really didn't care, but what's the harm in saying hi to someone that said it to you. On the other hand, it stopped him in his tracks as a girl pushed past him, head down. She'd clearly been the speaker of that little hi, should he recognize her? The hi had been meant for him right?

It irked him, she did seem kind of familiar, in an odd way. But he couldn't place a name, or a place he possibly could have met her. She was clearly not in his grade, he knew most of them by name, weather they knew that he knew them or not wasn't really important. Finally he shook off the weird feeling and pushed open the door to the guidance office.

Rosemary, already in the guidance office, stiffened when the door opened.she silently cursed herself as she received her schedule and looked it over.of course he had been on his way there! Who wouldn't be? She felt so stupid at that moment for not expecting to see him.hidden behind her schedule, she took a moment to collect herself.it was something she would never, ever admit- who would believe it? That the ice princess of Orion high had a crush on Maxwell Kirk.usually she was able to hide it well, but in a surprise like this...she shook her head, which suddenly felt fuzzy.what was wrong with her? A wave of dizziness hit her, causing her to fall into a chair that was conveniently placed behind her.to anyone paying attention, it would look as if she was shimmering, like her edges were blurred and her outline shifting.an image of a woman flickered, superimposed on her, for just a moment.a voice, hers, she realized, was whispering."the zodia Gemini has awoken..."

"Well hey again." Max said noticing the girl that had pushed past him, but he wasn't looking at her when she hid her face. He had waved a hand at the staff "Morning ladies. Wonderful new school year isn't it. Mind if I get the new schedule?" Once he'd gotten his bit out as they hustled about helping all the last minute student rush he turned back to the girl. "Have we ..." He stared at the space where her head had been, than slowly turned down towards the chair. "Met..." Max's eyes widened, but his mouth was still in the process of finishing the sentence, "before?"

She's glowing! A faint memory crossed his mind of when he was little, and something similar had happened to him. He took a hesitant step backwards. Than crouched down to eye level with her. "Hey, are you okay? Looks like you've got a nasty case of toxic waste glow to you." He said it with a very joking tone, cause he didn't mean it as a way to upset her.

Rosemary shook her head."I...I feel...strange..." she said, trying to stand up and failing.after several deep breaths, her head began to clear."what was that? What is a zodia?" She asked, looking him in the eye for the first time.her eyes were a startling shade of emerald, sparkling with intelligence and shadowed with fear.
