Sanabria's Reign
Once upon a time long past, there was a prosperous kingdom named Zamora. Zamora was ruled by the benevolent Platoro family and was happy for many generations. Under the Platoro family, the kingdom prospered and grew until it became rich enough to rival Caharta, their neighboring kindom and until recently, the most powerful in the world. Jealousy festered in the jealous Cahartan nobles, but Zamora was protected by her ally kingdoms and Caharta could do nothing but watch the kingdom prosper. Until one day Caharta attacked. King Armond and Queen Opal of Zamora met Caharta on the battlefield, but Caharta had planted seeds of hate and dissent in Zamora's allies and many did not stand with the kingdom. King Armond and Queen Opal fought valiantly with their remaing allies and fended off Caharta, but the king and queen lost their lives, leaving their daughter, Princess Sanabria -then only 15- to rule the kingdom. Vowing vengance for the death of her parents and the betrayal of their kingdom, Queen Sanabria spent the first five years of her rule strengthening her army.

Enter Loragorn

During the third year of Sanabria's rule, Caharta fell under new rulership. Loragorn was a ruthless war lord who slew his way to the Cahartan throne. His deepest desire was to take Zamora and it's beautiful Queen. Shortly after he took the throne, he went before Queen Sanabria and proposed a marriage to unite the two kingdoms under one rule. Not out of love on his part. A marriage to Sanabria would strenghthen his rule in a way defeat would not. The vengeful Sanabria refused in a spectacular display of rockets and swords. Loragorn retreated promising to take Zamora and its queen by force if necessary.

The War

After Sanabria's rejection, Loragorn once again mobilized an army against Zamora. Sanabria was forced to gather all the able bodied citizens and trained them in the art of war. The army was small, but what they lacked in size they made up for in zeal. The fighters were fearsome and the greatest of these warriors formed the Queen's Own Gaurd

The Queen's Own Guard

The Queen's Own are Sanabria's personal protectors and her spies. They frequently infiltrate the enemy's borders and give Queen Sanabria any information they gather. Because of their contributions, Zamora has been able to stand their own against Carharta's army.

Bio: Mira is on the Queen's Own Guard as her top assassin know to everyone as "Shadow" because she can pretty much blend into anything. If there is a mark on your head and Mira has been put on the job you wont know she's there until a split second before she kills you.

Bio: A merciless fighter, Archen does not look like he can lift a any weapon, much less hold his own against almost any enemy. Due to his size and appearance, Archen is often chosen to be a spy and such because nobody expects a boy to be a fighter. And Archen is an experienced one. He is far stronger, faster, and calculating then anyone he's had the pleasure to duel. Though he rarely has reason to use his full potential.
His preferred weapon is a pair of thick cloth gloves with metal plated knuckles. He is even able to deflect sword blow with them. He also uses a sword when it's called for and is often found with a few knives on his person.

Bio: Maerad is a Caharthan noblewoman and a knight in Loragorn's army. She is one of the best fighters in her
her rank, and highly skilled in swordplay, knife throwing, and poisons, having spent much of her childhood learning and mastering these skills from her father and grandfather. Maerad wants two things; to be made a commander and to be Loragorn's wife. Anyone who is in her way is an enemy whether they're on the same side or not

Bio: Saveyn is a master swordsman who is skilled in the use of both single and dual blades. He also carries a pair of hidden combat knives for special occasions. Saveyn is skilled in the art of assassination and is adept at gathering information with his infamous charm. The man has sworn his loyalalty only to Loragorn and is as deadly as he is cunning.

Age: 15
Bio: Really only a child, Tiala is not all that she appears to be. There is a secret that only her king knows, for now at least, a dead secret. Her expertise lies in that of explosives, old ones fit for the times. She quick enough, silent enough, and warped enough to place them, set them off, and leave no trace behind her. When the occasion calls for it, she is skilled with a bladed fan, the weapons she chooses when she has to protect her Lord King. Projectile blades can also shoot out of the fans if she remembers to reload it there. But of course she can be just the cute little teen she seems to be. She is often found near Loragorn, choosing to be one of his Shadows when it's called for.

Bio: Resa (short for Theresa) is the elder cousin of Queen Sanabria. She works in the palace as a hairdresser and is staying in the palace with her two young children while her soldier husband is away fighting war. Sanabria's most staunch supporter, she takes care of her younger cousin like a sister. Since Sanabria has no siblings, Resa is next in line for the throne if something happens to the queen before she marries and has children. Resa desperatley doesn't want to be queen, so her life's mission has become finding Sanabria a suitable husband.

Bio: Aurelian Smith was born the sixth son of an overbearing gold smith. Feeling over shadowed Aurelian left home. Eventually he found an apprenticship with a master thief. He was caught on a mission and instead of being imprisoned he was forced to be a soldier. He is known for using the skills of thievery to keep himself alive and out of trouble.

Bio: Amadeus Chernabog was once a brillaint scientist in Zamora, renowned for his brillaint technologies, most of all, the discovery of a steam engine, a device he proclaimed to the world could revolutionize everything from travel to medicine. However, one day he was found to be developing a steam powered war machine with manifests declaring that once it was finished it was going to be sent to Caharta. The servant who discovered this came back with authorities to arrest Amadeus and execute him for treason. When they tried to arrest him he caused his machine to explode, killing the servant, the guards, and, so people believed, himself as well. For a month he was believed dead, despite the fact they couldn't find a body, until he publicly appeared in Caharta at court as he is now, this time making declarations of how he was going to use his invention to revolutionize the way the world sees the battlefield. There have been rumors circulating the capital of Caharta of strange lights and people going missing since then.

It is what most call the neutral town, neither of the two kingdoms could bring violence into it considering it belonged to neither Kingdom. He is a spy for both kingdoms, going between the two and selling information to them, he hasn't been caught yet and does not plan to get caught.

Walking out of the building Mira wiped blood off her black dagger with a piece of cloth then threw it on the ground. Slipping the dagger in a thigh sheath the tall woman started walking down the road a ways where she left her horse tied up. Finally coming up to her black horse Mira pulled out a long floor sweeping black cloak and put it on, pulling up the hood. Climbing up on her horse she began to race back to Queen Sanabria's palace.

Urging on her horse Mira made her way closer to the border between the two regions hoping to get back on her side before anyone noticed her. As she came up to the boarder she tapped her feet on her horses sides and whispered "Viens vite Azra plus rapide" (come on faster Azra faster). Hearing the french words Azra broke into a full on gallop. Most people couldn't keep up with her horse because she was bred to be fast and agile, but there was always a few who could. Mira and her horse got closer and closer to the border and Mira looked around to see if anyone was around.

Crouching down low Madela made her way slowly through the brush to where a heard of deer were up ahead. Once she came in sight of them she slowed raised up into a standing position and cocked an arrow on her bow. Aiming she let go of the string. Her arrow struck the deer she was aiming at and killed it instantly while the others ran away. Walking over she pulled her arrow loose and wiped it on the ground before replacing it back in her quill and then swung her bow on her back. Then turning around she ran back and grabbed her two horses and went back to the deer. Picking it up she put it on her tan horse that was tied to her white horse. Jumping up on her horse she began to ride back to the Queen's palace.

Sanabria rubbed her bleary eyes and tried to focus on the papers in front of her. Her desk was crowded with battle reports and ration orders that had to be approved. She glanced up at the mirrored wall across from her and cringed. Her hair was disheveled and her clothes were rumpled. Her eyes were red from fatigue and puffy. Good grief. she muttered. Who is that? Sanabria ran a hand over her face. There was a knock at her door and with a heavy sigh she told whoever it was to come in. "Hello favorite cous...oh, my goose! Your face!" Sanabria lifted her head and glared at her older cousin, Resa. She was carrying a tray with a sandwich and a cup of tea. Setting the tray down on the desk, Resa pulled the papers away from the young queen. "You're going to make yourself sick, little cousin. Come on and eat. Sanabria thought about protesting but she smelled the melted cheese and mushrooms and relented. Thanks, Resa. I would have forgotten to eat.

Resa shut the office door behind her, frowning a little. Sanabria had finished her lunch and then gone straight back to work despite Resa's advice that she take a break. "I just need to finish a few things ," Sanabria had told Resa. From her cousin's distracted tone, Resa knew she'd wind up bringing Sanabria's dinner, as well. She sighed and shook her head. Take care of yourself, Bria. she whispered.

Angelo was suppose to be spying on both the rulers of either land opposite of his, at the moment he was in a very important meeting with the elders of his kingdom, everything was becomming even more hard for him, his kingdom, well it can't really be called a kingdom since he just ruled over the towns between the two main kingdoms. His kingdomor towns are torn in two, supporting one or the other and the towns were divided in two, thus the reason they were holdding a meeting at the moment.

Maerad watched the troops training below coldly. To the untrained eye, the mock battles taking place in the court yard moved fluidly, like water, but Maerad picked out the numerous mistakes with an expert's eye and snorted in disgust. "These are the morons who the King trusts to bring him victory?"she scoffed. Had her father still been the general of the army, he would have flogged the weak links within an inch of their lives for the simple mistakes they made consistently. "When I am queen, the Cahartan armies will once again know what discipline means,"Maerad promised herself. She spun away from the window and went over to her changing room, where a servant had lain out her clothes for the day, imagining that she was being dressed for the coronation she knew would be in her future someday soon. Queen Sanabria or no.

Loragorn watched the troops training. As a former general it was easy to see the same stupid mistakes being made. "Not good enough," He said to himself, mistakes of any type could not be tolerated, not when Zamora was at stake. Perhaps he'd better talk with the general. Not that anyone could see the King watching, not unless they happened to have a balcony as well, or a high window. He liked to watch in secret, when he watched officially either they got so nervous they made many more mistakes or everything was perfect. His small private balcony was in a superb spot to just watch, so that's what he did.

It was near sunset by the time Sanabria finished her work for the day. Resa hadn't been by with dinner yet, but Sanabria expected her any minute. For once she can't yell at me for working through a meal, she muttered to herself. As she expected, Resa came in with a tray with two plates of pasta followed by a maid carrying a tray with a jar of spiced wine and two glasses. She set the tray on Sanabria's desk and with a quick curtsy and a smile, she left the two cousins alone. I see you haven't worked yourself to death yet, Resa commented. Sanabria smiled ruefully There's always tomorrow. Thanks for dinner. She took a plate and a cup of wine and went to sit on the hearth by the fireplace. Resa moved to sit beside her with her own food. How is it going? You know, with....everything? she asked. Sanabria shook her head. It's getting tight. We can hold out another few months, but if our allies don't come through... Resa's hands shook as she thought of her husband out on the battlefield. It had been a few weeks since she heard from him, and she was worried for him. But she fixed her face so Sanabria wouldn't see her fear and she wrapped an arm around the young queen's shoulders. It's going to be ok. You'll see. Sanabria smile, grateful, but unconvinced. Maybe...maybe I should agree to marry Loragorn. Resa gasped and stared at Sanabria in horror. That's not even a little funny, Bria! Sanabria grinned mischievously. But it would get me close enough to kill him in his sleep. Resa stared at Sanabria for a moment and rolled her eyes. No matter what the situation, it was almost comforting to know that she could count on her younger cousin to make an inappropriate joke.

Making it across the boarder safely Mira urged her horse to slow down. "Lent Azra lent," (slow Azra slow) she murmured to her horse. The horse slowed from an all out run to a soft gallop. After a few minutes they came to the palace and Mira directed Azra to the stables. Hopping off her horse Mira grabbed the reins and walked Azra inside handing her off to a stable hand. Then turning around she started walking out and spotted Madela. "Hey!" She called out to the younger girl.


Smiling when she saw Mira, Madela hopped off her horse and walked over to Mira, pulling her horse's along with her. "Hello Mira, just get back?" She asked her. Another stable hand came out and took her two horses from her. Before he left Madela gave him directions on where to take he deer she killed. The two girls continued to talk and started off towards the palace.

After dinner was finished, Resa had the trays taken away and went back to her apartments to put her two young children to bed. You should get some rest, Sanabria, she advised her cousin on her way out. Sanabria waved her off. I'm just going to catch up on some reading. I'll see you later.

Maerad smoothed her hands down the front of her dark red gown. She smiled at her reflection in the mirror while her servant arranged her long dark hair with a jeweled clip. It had become her custom to once a week dress to her best advantage and find an excuse to present herself in court as Lady Maerad Viscous rather than Knight of the King's Guard. After all,she told herself.No king wants a queen who doesn't look the part.The servant girl pulled a snag, jerking Maerad's hair at the root. "Ah! You stupid twit! she snarled, turning to slap the girl. Maerad snatched the comb from the servant's hand and sent the crying girl from the room with a kick to her back. Maerad turned back to the mirror angrily and finished arranging her own curls.

Angelo sighed in relief once the meeting was over and he was outside once more, he ran a hand through his natrual red and white hair, looking about the area, after all he could see what all this was doing to the people, he may not be a true king but to the ones on the border he was one. He looked around the land once more, the town, before he walked towards his stallion and swung up onto him, he sighed slightly, trying to figure out which kingdom he should go towards first and findout some information to sell from one to the other. After thinking for a few minutes he turnned his stallion towards the Queen's land, after all shewas far easier to talk to the anyone in the Kings land, as he rode he could feel his neckalace of rings hitting his chest.

Sanabria wandered through the library and sat in a corner by the fireplace with a book she had started months ago."I should probably start from the beginning," she mused. She looked out of the window. The sun was low on the horizon, but not quite set yet. She was expecting several people to arrive at the palace either that night or the next day. She hoped reading would keep her awake for a couple of hours to see if they would come, but after a few minutes her eyes became heavy and the words swam before her eyes.

Angelo smiled as he came up onto the castle of Zamora, it was far more beautiful and appealing to the eye then the King's own castle which more well morbid in his own opinion. It didn't take him long with a few special rings, to find out where the Queen was at and be able to get into the castle and past all the gaurds, he stood in the doorway of the libary, looking at the Queen. "Hello your majesty. Falling a sleep while reading your book again?" he said to her as he smiled chramingly, speaking softly to her before he slowly walked into the room and took a seat opposite of her.

Sanabria started, dropping her book to the floor. "Oh!" she gasped looking up at Angelo. Stop sneaking around like that! You'll give me a heart attack! she admonished. Sanabria reached down and grabbed her book off of the floor and ran her hand over her hair. So, what brings you this way? Any news? Or is this a social visit?

"Always looking for buisness." Angelo said to her as he chuckled a little bit, running a hand through his hair once more as he looked into the fire place that some servant had started a fire in to keep the room warm. "Sadly this is an informal visit unless you want to know how the border meeting went...even then the news is not good for the people or more or less for you." he said to her in a more serious voice as he sighed slightly, he picked up a random book and began to look it over, opening it up as he began to pretend like he was reading.

Fantastic! More good news. Sanabria sighed and sat up straighter in her chair. Well, there's plenty of time to ruin the rest of my week. How about a snack first? You must be hungry. Do you want some tea or something?

"A snack sounds delightful." Angelo said as he smiled at her, he wasn't completely happy with the news that he had to share with her but it had to be done and well there was not postponeing the decision any longer. He snapped the book closed as he fingered the spine of it before he sat it down on the table, crossing his legs as he looked at the woman across from him, he knew she wouldn't go for a guy like him, after all he was really a no body other then what the people on the border thought of him.

Sanabria went to the door of the library and sent a servant for a tray of tea and cookies. She went back to her seat feeling slightly more awake. Smiling at Angelo she dropped down gracelessy into the overstuffed chair. I refuse to talk business until after we have our snack. So tell me something good. I don't care if it's just that the weather's been espescially pretty.

"Let's see......Kou has been doing good in his training, he is making an excellent Ranger horse." Angelo said to her, it was the only thing he could think of to talk to her about that didn't pretain to buisness, which was normally the only thing that they talked about so it was a little hard for him but he was going to try and do as she asked. "It took a while to get him to learn everything that he needed to know but now he is getting it like it is nothing." he said with a smile as he relaxed for the first time in months, it was good, maybe he could use it to get to know her.

Sanabria grinned ruefully. Don't work the poor horse to death, now. Sanabria felt more relaxed than she had in the entire week. Between her cousin and Angelo this was the most social contact she had had in a while. I haven't had much time for horses lately, she told Angelo. We need our strongest one for the troops, and no one thinks its a good idea for me to be on the front line.
That's because no one wants me to be the queen if you die. Resa walked in carrying a tray of tea and cookies. So, now we're not inviting me to the war counsel? She raised an eye brow and smiled at Angelo, whom she didn't really know well. Hello there.

"Well, hello there." Angelo said to the girl that had entered with the cookies and tea, he just smiled at her and motioned for her to take a seat. "Hey, i have not been working Kou to death. He has the weekends off." he said in reply to what Sanabria said about him, chuckleing about it all, since he treated his horse like it was a person. "I agree that it wouldn't be a good idea for you to be on the front lines unless you have a highly train horse like Kou." he said with a smile as he took his cup of tea, smelling it first before he picked a cookie up and dipped it in it before he ate it.

I didn't expect to see you agian tonight. Sanabria commented as Resa set down the tray and pulled a seat up. The kids are asleep. It didn't take as long as usual. Resa frowned and tapped her bottom lip. I wonder if they're getting sick... Sanabria poured some tea into three cups and added honey to hers. Angelo, you remember my cousin, don't you?
