Glory blinked. Somehow, that didn't surprise her.

"Okay," she said. "Without knowing where the boat went, I'm not sure what we can do. We may have to wait for it to come back, and I'm fairly sure it will, at least once."

"There was a really weird smell in the water while that boat was still hanging around," Archie informed her, a little solemnly. "Smelled a lot like a pheromone from a rare breed of siren. I've smelled that kind of pheromone before, but I can't put my finger on what kind of siren it came from..."

Léan scratched at the back of his head, absently. "How are we going to know if there really is a prisoner on that boat? I mean, we can't exactly see inside."

Glory thought for a moment.

"Maybe I could find a way to take a look around," she said. "I'm not entirely sure how, but I might be able to think of something."

"Perhaps Arcturus and I could try to distract them with our singing...but you wouldn't have much time if that's the plan of attack we went with," Léan mused, under his breath. "At most, you would have a minute to peek inside of the ship. Is that enough time, do you think?"

"It might be enough time for me to get onto the boat, at least," Glory mused. "I can take a look around from there, see if I can do anything." If nothing else, she was fairly sure she'd be able to get back off the boat and find her way back to shore on her own. She knew the territory fairly well by now.

"I suppose we'll have to practice a bit...with both of us singing, it'll be enough to completely daze the people on the boat. But it will also be distracting for you," Léan reminded her, the thought just occurring to him now. A single siren singing was one thing...more than one singing was another.

"We still need to see if the boat even comes back," Glory pointed out. "I'm fairly sure it will, though. They seemed too intent on looking around to stay gone for long." She wasn't too terribly worried about getting distracted by the singing. She'd been building up an immunity for a while now, a useful side-effect from Léan singing in his sleep.

"Even so, it'd be good for you to try it now just in case it does come back." Archie was the one speaking now, his head poking up and out of the tank. "Each siren's voice has a new and different effect on other people. So even if you're used to him, you're not used to me..."

Léan nodded solemnly.

That was true. Glory hesitated for a moment, though. She was a bit worried about how the children would react to the singing, as well. The twins were probably a little immune to Léan's singing, but anyone else's was a different matter.

"Whenever you'd like to practice, we can. Better sooner than later, though, in case that boat really is planning on coming back..." Léan mused quietly. He leaned against the tank's cool glass and closed his eyes, looking tired even though he really wasn't tired.

Glory nodded.

"Alright," she said. She stood up. "Let me go check outside real quick, and then we'll see what we can do."

"Very well. Just come back in when you're ready." Léan turned back toward his brother, a low stream of mutters spilling out of his mouth in a strange tongue--probably his native language. He had an inkling suspicion as to what sort of siren might be imprisoned on that boat...

Glory nodded and went back outside to the beach. Everything seemed quiet, but she jumped out along the rocks just to make sure. She didn't think she needed to go out any further than that, so she didn't go out into the water.

Léan and Archie appeared to be having quite an in-depth conversation. Archie seemed to be growing more and more frustrated, like he was...trying not to believe what his brother was saying. Was that a hint of fear in his voice?

Glory's eyes narrowed as she watched the boat in the distance. It didn't look like it was coming back towards the shore, but she would keep an eye on the beach all the same once she went back inside. She watched the boat for a few minutes just to make sure, and then went back into the house.
