Quick summary? But of course:

Set in 1940, in the heat of World War 2, children were being evacuated from areas that were likely to be bombed by the Nazis. One such family of children, Charlotte Haney, her twin Thomas, and her older brother James, are being evacuated to a remote, country area called 'Cotswold', where they will stay with their father's friend, the kind, young widow Ms. Claire, and her three children (Sinead, Vincent, Christy).
They get along just fine, till Christy goes missing. Eventually the children decide to look in the tunnel-like well thats in the backyard; the Claire children have been forbidden to go inside the well, but to find their sister they'll go this once.
What the group finds is, quite simply, a whole different world.

If you've seen Pan's Labyrinth, then you know the kind of world I'm talking of. Its not pink sparkly fairies and unicorns (though they exist), it isnt the kind of 'happily ever after' land. It has its dark elements, its nitemares, its monsters.
When they find Christy, they discover that the door back to their world is closed. How do they escape?

Well keep in mind that I had wanted that to be a QUICK summary. I didnt expect it to be more than a few sentences, because some people are lazy and dont like to read long summaries. :|
